Otter Bothy is a small, self contained cabin right on the banks of West Loch Roag, in the village of Carishader, perfectly situated for wildlife, fishing, walking, cycling, surfing and kayaking. Otter Bothy is situated beside Otter Bunkhouse, but offers private accommodation in a small but very cosy cabin, with spectacular views across West Loch Roag. At only a few metres from the shoreline, there aren't many places as close to the water as this! The minimum stay is two nights.
“A great place, especially quiet at this time of year (early November). Very cosy but well thought out space with storage boxes beneath the bed and space for your bag as well. A surprisingly spacious shower/toilet and just enough space to cook a basic meal. Loads of lovely landscapes and beaches a short drive away. Even saw an otter swim by about an hour after sunrise. Highly recommended.”
During June, July and August, there is a minimum 7 nights stay Saturday to Saturday. Taigh Solas is a pet friendly, detached, centrally heated, 2 bedroom bungalow on the stunning island of Great Bernera, on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. The property is positioned on our croft and is securely fenced. There are two double bedrooms, with plenty of storage, a comfortable living room and stunning views across Loch Roag. The Iron Age House, Bosta Beach, Callanish Standing stones are all nearby.
“We had the most wonderful time staying at Michelle’s cottage. It’s a place that offers everything you need in terms of amenities and its location is perfect to explore the islands, while allowing for privacy and amazing views of the landscape at the same time. Michelle is a lovely, thoughtful person - we got this super nice welcome basket (oh, those eggs from the croft!), very helpful and informative about the area, potential Northern Lights appearance and it’s only because she told us about it, we saw all the falling stars on our first night in Lewis. Grateful for the entire experience and highly recommend the host and the cottage for a home away from home while on holiday in the Outer Hebrides.”
Welcome to Callanish Cottage, Callanish, Isle of Lewis, Scotland – with views of all 3 famous Callanish Stones circles, an Atlantic sea loch and the Harris hills. This modernised traditional dry-stone crofters cottage sleeps up to 4 in a ground floor double bedroom and two upstairs rooms.
“We had a super stay at Callanish Cottage. The location is simply superb with views of all the stone circles and the mountains of Harris....and llamas! So easy to get to Stornoway too, so ideal for getting to the ferry and into town for supplies. The cottage is so cosy, we felt cocooned from the wild winds and torrential rain and it was a joy to come out and hear the birdsong when the weather calmed down. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals at home and it was a pleasure to sit in there with a pot of tea and Stag bakery bread for toast at breakfast time. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the cottage was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Bed was VERY comfortable! I wanted to bring it home with me :-) Iain was an absolute star. He kept in touch regularly before we came over, met us at the cottage and kept us up to date with the ferry changes whilst we were on the Island. Thanks Iain, you really are a superb host and we wish you all the best. Hoping you can open the doors to Callanish Cottage again soon once the Corona virus is under control. Best wishes, Pamela and Richard”
