“We had a great time at KNH. What an amazing place. It is in quite an isolated location, truly in the midst of nature! Our kids loved the natural pool and waterfall, and would have stayed in it all day. We enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature, and sleeping ‘in the jungle’. Be sure to take insect repellent, as there were no mosquito nets on the beds, and there are plenty of other bugs around. We were fine with this, as we had expected it. There were a couple of big storms while we were there, which resulted in power outtages. The kids loved getting the candles out! The WiFi reception was great. The dinners were outstanding (the best curries of our entire trip so far). We saw monkeys on the driveway. We visited Ella one day, which took over an hour, so keep that in mind if you are planning activities. Diyaluma falls is only 500 m away. Overall, we loved the house and location, and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for hosting us x”
JD’s is a one bedroomed eco bungalow which accommodates a maximum of three people. The bungalow has views of lush paddy fields at the front and access to the private river bank at the rear. There is a caretaker on site who can also prepare meals (local Sri Lankan food). It is approximately 20 minutes drive from Yala ( Galge entrance ) and 30 minutes from Kataragama.
My place is located in Muruthahinna, Nikapotha in the city of Haldamulla. Its a charming and cozy cottage built on a mountain top, and it's part of a working plantation perfect for a hike. You get great views of the beautiful Haputale mountain range. It's centrally located with many attractions within a two hour drive
“The place is about 25 km away from Wellawaya in mountains. on the way you can enjoy a beautiful scenery and will also cross one of the waterfalls. The other alternative is to approach directly from ELLA and via Haputale - also very lovely views on tea plantations and a great option to visit famous Keleebedda tea factory. please drive only in day time and have a local language speaking driver - otherwise you will never find The place - it's off the road up in the hills. the last 100m of the access road is very steep and will challenge even an experienced driver. don't attempt to do it if it rains unless you have a 4x4 vehicle. The house itself is indeed as described in other reviews - minimalistic but with taste. two bedrooms separated with kitchen in the middle but rather distant - if you think the other bedroom for child it won't work - to far away. kitchen looked fine to me but if you plan to cook yourself, make sure you get to a supermarket first - there are no shops around. There are some local people living in the same house but they have entrance from the other side of the building and they're always there. I was also not feeling comfortable with 2 CCTV cameras monitoring the guest area outside - no privacy. the people who live there were very helpful and nice to us. surroundings of the house comparing to the views that you will see on your way does not impress a lot. recapping all of the above - probably a great escape place to read a book or two, go for a hike or just todonothing place - excellent.”
