Historic 1865 house originally a blacksmith shop on the D&H Canal in the picturesque hamlet of High Falls. A cozy, year round retreat, one block from the rushing Rondout river. A short walk to gorgeous hiking/cross country skiing trails and popular restaurants.
“We've stayed at the blacksmith bungalow several times and wouldn't keep coming back if we didn't find it a welcoming, comfortable space. The location is great - on a quiet road but just steps from some good eateries and not far from the High Falls Food Coop. The eat-in kitchen and living area are spacious. Having a washer and dryer is a big plus. There are plenty of good quality linens and towels. And Frank is very responsive. Highly recommended!”
Mahali Petu is a newly-built guest house situated well off the road with meadow views. It is built of high quality materials and finishes. The kitchen is fully equipped and offers custom cabinetry & granite countertops. The full bath offers a walk-in European shower with dual shower heads. There is extensive outdoor decking & seating areas, a gas grill, fire pit and an outdoor shower.
“We had a wonderful stay at Patti and Bob’s place. There is plenty of outdoor space on the property, which is exactly what we were looking as a getaway from the city. This house sits on a lovely piece of land. We had coffee outside every morning on the back patio and enjoyed the grill for dinner. The house is close to many outside hiking trails and the house is clean and well designed. Patti and Bob were excellent hosts. They answered all our questions prior to us arriving and even had a binder at the house full of recommendations for places to eat and some nearby activities. Stay at this place if you are looking for a clean house with wonderful outside spaces.”
Merlin's cabin is built on a favorite spot on our farm. Its placed up on a little ridge along a quite walking path. Its rustic and built with a lot of love. There is no running water or electricity, but we set up a comfortable camp kitchen with large jugs of water that flow into a sink with a drain and have candles and flashlights there. There's a clean outhouse nearby and loads and loads of privacy. It is our favorite place to go for a romantic weekend or artist retreat in nature.
“Merlin's Cabin was idyllic, cozy, serene, inextricably interwoven into the surrounding woods, and incredibly serene. The pictures represent the cabin very well, which is extremely comfortable and has everything a person needs, while it omits some of the less necessary things that a person might want (running water, electricity, etc.). The cabin comes with a rustic outhouse that does the job and offers a view of the surrounding woods through a window. The cabin offers space for lots of privacy and solitude, but Gwyn was extremely responsive and helpful and we could not have asked for a better host! The cabin is also only a few minutes away from downtown New Paltz where you can stock up on supplies to bring back to the cabin if you run low. If you enjoy being close to nature (including any of the outdoor opportunities extremely close by) or you are looking for a peaceful haven to find your center, I don't think you will find a better place!”
