Where are we? We are located in Rusinga Island, which is a small island in lake Victoria but connected to the mainland by a bridge. Mbita is the nearest town on the mainland and 8 km away from the homestead. The lake is always in sight and only a 5 minute walk away. On the island you will find mainly small farms with the families living either in the traditional mud huts or more modern brick houses. Several small villages are spread around the island, Kolunga Beach being the closest.

Genuine Kenyan Experience - Apartment and Meals

This is a genuine Kisii/Kenyan experience for a solo traveler or couple looking to be immersed in Kenyan culture, eat Kisii meals, and learn about Kenyan farming and agriculture. You will be staying on a small farm compound of a Kisii family who will welcome you into their home and lives. The costs include a private apartment and any meals that you would like to eat with the family. There are free roaming animals on the compound to include chickens, goats, cows, cats, and dogs.
