  • Beekeeping Tour and Honey Tasting
You will learn how bees make honey, the importance of honey bee pollination, various honey bee types, difficulties facing the modern beekeeper, how to inspect a hive, and taste different honey samples! We start with an introductory discussion providing an overview of your experience, then move into bee genetics, how bees make honey, and a description of beekeeping equipment and practices. Then you will put on a full protective bee suit and we will tour our apiary located here at the Honey Depot - YES, we will inspect hives together to search for the Queen!! ( NOTE: It must be a warm day without rain and above 55* F to conduct an apiary tour -- typically from April 1 - October 31. Otherwise we will stay inside! ) Afterwards, you can taste different types of honey from around Kentucky and other parts of the country. Each participant will receive a 1-lb. jar of their favorite honey. Other things to note Will you get stung by a bee? Probably not, but possible. We will provide you with a full bee suit and encourage you to wear it while outside during the tour of our apiary.

  • Cooking with Bourbon at the Cabin
The perfect ending to a day on the Bourbon Trail! Cooking With Bourbon provides the opportunity to mingle with other guests over a cocktail and family-style dinner you help make in a casual setting around the kitchen table in a log home. Guests will slice, dice, stir, bake and make delicious dishes featuring bourbon while hearing about bourbon and Kentucky life. Guests also get a short tour of a 200-year old log cabin from the owner, an architect who specializes in log and timberframe homes. You may meet Captain, our lovable Newfoundland dog. Menu changes and may include Bourbon-glazed Salmon, Peach and Bourbon Chicken, Bourbon Burgers with carmelized onions, Pork Tenderloin with Bourbon and Apples, carmelized carrots, drunken sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts with bourbon and bacon, honeyed carrots, green salad with bourbon pecans, bourbon balls, bread pudding with bourbon sauce, Kentucky Spirit pie or Irish cake. Take the recipes with you so you can make your new favorites at home. Come back again for a different menu! There's always something new when you are Cooking With Bourbon.

  • Ohio River Tour on a Paddleboard!
We’ll meet at our coffee shop, Endless Summer Paddle & Coffee for any pre-activity fuel that is needed. There we will chat about some of the history of the Ohio River and the plan for the paddle. We will also cover some basics of Stand Up Paddle Boarding and size up gear. Next, we’ll head down to the water and begin a group paddle board lesson. We will ensure that everyone feels comfortable standing, turning, and stopping their boards and know what to do if they fall off. Next we will tour the river and depending on water and wind conditions may paddle under our bridges or up towards the water. Skyline views from the water are the best and we are happy to stop for some photo ops! Other things to note Please do not plan on taking any valuables on the water with you, these can be left at the coffee shop or in your car. You will need to sign a waiver prior to participating in the event.

  • Soapmaking and Sudsy Fun
Enjoy sipping lemonade on the porch of an original log cabin as you select from a variety of scents like lavender, orange spice or honey almond to create your own bath product while you learn about the key ingredients to use for your skin type. Then make a soap and a sugar scrub or a bath salt bag that will nourish your skin. Add the finishing touches to make great gifts to give or keep for yourself.

  • Cocktail Making & Bourbon Tasting
Upon arriving, you'll have an entire whiskey tasting room & bourbon bar to yourselves! You'll sit down & enjoy the most iconic bourbon cocktail in Louisville, the Old Fashioned. While you sip, I'll demonstrate how to make Trouble Bar's classic Old Fashioned. Then, you'll get to jump behind the bar to pick your own bitters & syrup combination to create your very own signature Old Fashioned. After our Old Fashioned bootcamp, you'll enjoy a 3 - 5 part tasting of bourbon. Unlike distilleries, you'll get to try lots of whiskeys and although we love so many bourbons, our tastings are totally brand agnostic. You'll taste whatever we love and think your group will love too. We serve every bourbon with a healthy dose of history, background & information, while also providing lots of water and ice. We find that so many new bourbon drinkers, or seasoned drinkers, can find new tasting notes or get more out of a bourbon that's had an ice cube or a splash of ice! Each class ends with the opportunity to purchase any of our house cocktails, or a pour of some of our most unique, hard-to-find whiskeys! Other things to note Timing: The bar doesn't open until 5p on most days, so it's all yours for afternoon classes. Classes after 5p cannot be accommodated. Food: Feel free to bring snacks! We do not serve food, but you can order in or BYOF. Sober: Sober drinkers can be accommodated for cocktail making.
