Sie liegt ruhig im Höhendorf Schanze (720 m NN) am Rothaarsteig mitten in einem waldreichen Wandergebiet. Die Lage ist ideal für Ruhesuchende, die in herrlicher Natur entspannen wollen, sowie für Wanderer und Mountainbikefahrer. Im Winter ist Skifahren (Lifte in Schmallenberg und Winterberg), Langlaufen und Rodeln möglich.
