Hale Kai is a cozy studio loft in the heart of Kealakekua Bay, Kona Hawaii. Located only a 2 minute walk to Manini Beach Park and Kealakekua Bay Historic State Park. Walk across the street for a morning swim or kayak to the Captain Cook monument for some of the best snorkeling in the world. 1 queen bed, 2 futon couch/beds for kids or if you have more than 2 guests (inquire within), Kitchenette with 4 burner stove/oven combo, microwave and full size fridge. Full bathroom with standing shower.
“Hale Kai is the perfect launching and landing pad for Kealakekua Bay adventures. You're steps away from the precious community-run Manini Beach, which offers a small channel into the bay ... as well as all the kayak/SUP rental companies (we used Ehu & Kai, Adventures in Paradise). We rose before light each day to enjoy the reefs before the crowds arrive at 10am. The hale met all our needs, including a coffee grinder, small french press, and drip machine to enjoy your fresh Kona coffee. We also appreciated the small stereo system with a plug for your audio device. The bed was soft and comfy. Two futons provided a place to nap after long mornings on the water. Floor to ceiling screens line each end of the hale, which provide good air circulation (lots of fans of you need em). Trees and palms provide a tropical vibe and plenty of privacy. They're also a reminder that you're in the jungle ... and thus amidst all the creatures in it! Overall, we really enjoyed the old skool feel and enjoyed our short stay at the "little tin shack in Healakekua Bay, Hawaii." Mahalo!”

Airconditioning is going in this week to cool down for Summer!
“Heidis place is a simple, spacious, and thoughtfully decorated home in a quiet location away (but still close!, this is very small area) from the at times busy Manini Beach and Napo’opo’o Rd. I not miss having a distracting TV. The WIFI and cell reception were fine, though in a way if they didn’t work, the house and the location would be perfect for an electronic detox. Take a long or a short walk, swim from the beach to the pier and back, wander to the point to watch the sunset in the evening say hello to Auntie Sandy along the way, or maybe read on the lanai. Go to bed early, get up early, eat plenty papaya with lime. Repeat. Thank you Heidi”
This beautiful property overlooks 60 sweeping miles of the South Kona coast line. Just a mile from the famous Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook monument, this cottage combines the best of Old Hawaii with all the modern amenities and tropical gardens.
“Wow, just wow. We stayed at the little red cottage and we experienced real Hawaii. First time outdoor shower for us, outdoor bathroom, hearing animal sounds all night. The only minor hiccup for me is I'm a light sleeper and the animal sounds at night kept me from sleeping but I always bring earplugs for this reason, my wife had no issues sleeping. The space was immaculately clean, very well designed, and had all the necessities for a comfortable stay with beautiful Hawaiian vibes all around. We took plenty of pictures and videos of the space to share with our family back home because it was such a unique experience for us.”
