Ama and Bupa is how we call our Mom and Dad. We welcome you to our beautiful village into our humble home. We are surrounded by rivers in the middle of the mountains, there are no cars, we farm and live simply.
“My boyfriend and I are at a loss for words to describe the incredible 4 days we shared with Namaraj's beautiful family. If you enjoy the outdoors, want to disconnect from the internet, and enjoy a true Nepali experience...then you should visit Ama and Buba right away. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. They live 30 minutes from the closest village, close to rice terraces and other farmers. The family has been farming and living off the land their entire lives, and utilize the fertile land to the best of their abilities. They lost their family home in the 2015 earthquake and rebuilt it on a new piece of land. Gopaul, Namaraj's twin brother, showed us around the village and taught us all about Nepali culture. We left feeling like he was an old friend, rather than someone we had only met 4 days earlier. You will never be hungry, as Ama makes sure of it. She fed us the most incredible and hearty meals every day. We were also spoiled with tea 2-3 times a day. If you like to cook, you can help her prepare meals. They live on a farm, which means there are always chores to be done. Buba is constantly working on a new project, or maintaining the land. Ask to help out with chores. They'll never say no, and you might learn a new skill like we did! If you want to go anywhere, you must keep in mind that it is a 15-30 minute trek in all directions. I highly recommend bringing your hiking boots. The mornings and evenings can be a bit chilly, so bring warm clothes just in case. There is an outdoor bathroom located beside the house. Bring a headlamp or come prepared with a light for early mornings and dark evenings. Overall, our stay was unforgettable. We are so grateful to have had this experience, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is up for a heart-warming adventure.”
