Gorgeous treehouse nestled in the thick of the rainforest, right next to the waterfall! There is no other house in Cairns this close to a waterfall so this is truly a nature lovers dream. Boasting 3 balconies including one off your room and cathederal floor to ceiling windows in the dining and loungeroom, making you feel as though you are living amongst the treetops. It is important you understand this is a nature come in the national park. Along with that comes insects and wildlife.
“Beautiful rainforest home. Such a peaceful escape that I extended my stay. This place has made me fall in love with the rainforest and spoiled me for living anywhere else. You can hear the waterfalls nearby and fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. Resident puppy and cat are friendly and playful. Host Alyce goes out of her way for those special touches, and is very knowledgable about the local area. You are given as much privacy as you wish, or friendly companions when you are feeling a bit more social.”
Our serene abode is a 5 min drive or a pleasant 30-40 min stroll to the picturesque village of Kuranda and the mighty Barron Falls. Your private quarters contain a kitchenette, bathroom and sizeable comfortable bedroom. On the deck you can sit peacefully, relax and observe the native wildlife; red-legged pademelons, brush turkeys and small reptiles. You will be delighted with the chorus of bird song and take great pleasure in sighting vibrantly colourful tropical birdlife and butterflies.
“There are not enough superlatives for me to express how much I have enjoyed my 12 days in Casa Kuranda. Noreen is a delightful host and made me feel welcome from the moment we met. She went out of her way to accommodate my small requests. The little Casa is surrounded by rainforest and I love listening to the forest and its creatures. Everything is as she states in her description. No stay is complete without a visit to the Tablelands or up to the Mossman Gorge, Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation if you have time. I can't wait to return. PS The bed is one of the comfiest I have slept on.”
Kuranda, home to the Indigenous Djabugay people is tucked away within an ancient Rainforest. Jum Rum Place is located only 1.6km from the Kuranda village, North Queensland backing onto Jum Rum Creek Conservation Park where there are numerous species of birds, Striped possums, Suger Gliders, Pademelons with abundance of butterflies including the Ulysses and Cairns Bird Wing. The beautiful Jum Rum Creek Walking Track is close by which takes you into the Kuranda Village, only a 15 minute walk.
“What an amazing place to stay during our short vacation. You've got the rainforest as your yard, making for an amazingly relaxing and tranquil stay. Julie was a great host with great communication, and because she lives on the property is always around if you need anything. Only thing I would recommend is to check-in during daylight because my family and I got there after sunset. If Julie hadn't somehow found us driving around in the dark I don't think we would have found the place :)...and of course the 3 chickens they've got roaming the property! So cute and friendly, always coming to say hi”
