“Leave all of your worries behind. You’ll have everything you need once you arrive at Oh Shenandoah! Izzy and Justin were incredible hosts and will make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible. The space is probably best for two people. You should definitely make time to enjoy the pool if you come in the summer. It’s a zen space for a retreat. You really don’t even need to make plans! The house is a bit tricky to find so get good directions before you arrive. When you turn onto the road the house is on, just keep following the windy uphill narrow road until you pass three houses. The house is on the right past the “cat house” — marked by the cat sign on the left. I would also bring bug spray. It’s not a space for people terrified of nature. I can’t wait to come back. Thank you Izzy and Justin!”
Our mountain retreat is close to the Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Appalachian Trail, Front Royal and Highway 66. You’ll love the coziness, location, nature and the tranquility. This large space is good for writers, solo adventurers and business travelers.
“Arlene and Mark have been nothing short of truly amazing. This was my first long term stay with Airbnb and I am so glad I got Mark and his wife Arlene as my hosts. From day one they were so accommodating to me, checked on me, communicated so well with me, and have truly made me feel as though I had a home away from home. I can't thank them enough for everything. A great example of their kindness and heart was when there was someone who wanted to stay about 2 weeks longer than me, but check in about 3 days later than me and I had just arrived in town (Winchester) on a Sunday for work to build a Solar PV Farm and I didn't have a place to stay. Mark and Arlene approved me to stay instead as I was already in town and I didn't have a place to stay. They didn't want to leave me without a home and took care of me when they could have opted to take the other guest as they wanted to stay longer and would have made more money. Truly blessed to have come across such great heart felt people and hosts. I will definitely be recommending them if I ever know of anyone who is planning on staying in the area or if I ever return :) On specifics of the place, their home is beautiful and located in the mountains. I love my drive everyday to work because it is such a beautiful site to see the lush green trees and distant mountains as I drive down the mountain. The place you stay in is even better in person than the pictures show. It is really spacious and I love how there is a sliding door access on the side of the house that allows you private access to your room without disturbing anyone and there is a code to get in which is nice because it saves the trouble of potentially losing a key. The space is located at the bottom of the house and to the right of the garage which allows you all the privacy you want if that is what you are looking for. The bed is really comfortable, the bathroom is really nice, and the decorations in the room are beautiful as it illustrates artwork from different places they have traveled. You cannot go wrong with booking this place. Great heart warming and welcoming hosts, a great spacious place, and an outstanding value!!! Again, thank you Mark and Arlene for everything. My stay here will not be forgotten. ”
The Cottage at the Barb Farm is a cozy two story cottage nestled in the Shenandoah Valley on the historic Fisher's Hill Battlefield. The cottage was used as the summer kitchen in the civil war days. It was rebuilt in 1991 to the current cottage. There is lots of civil war history to discover, hiking trails, wineries, and breweries in the area. The town of Strasburg is about 15 minutes away. If you're looking for a weekend getaway or a relaxing vacation in the mountains, this is the perfect spot!
“We stayed here for a trip to Shenandoah national park (this is 30 min from the front royal entrance, little over an hour from Thornton gap). The cabins super spacious and cute, w thoughtful amenities such as coffee, Netflix, and a gas fireplace. The main room could use a bit more light but overall, this place is awesome!”
