The secluded & tranquil Namgay Zam's Farmhouse on a small hill top overlooks the beautiful Hamlet in Punakha. Punakha is one of the most sought-after valley in Bhutan. Just a few kms away from Po chu Suspension Bridge (the longest in the country), behind the mighty Punakha Dzong, this traditional house offers a mesmerising panorama to behold.
“Tenzin is a warm host and was always on her toes for us. The room provided to us was clean and was completely private. Tenzin also arranged a cab for us at local sightseeing prices. Food wasnt included with the stay but was available and we opted in. The food was cooked fresh. Tip for anyone travelling from Thimphu, contact her before you leave so she can arrange a cab for you directly from Thimphu to her home since thats where we got stuck. The view from her house is incredible. Her mom is there too and she's always smiling. Overall a very pleasant stay”
Tucked away in the village of Jawana (which means the village beneath the cliff), about 20 min drive through a farm road from the main road near Punakha Dzong is a Bhutanese treasure called Aum Wangmo Homestay. The 5-acre farm has been in Aum Wangmo’s family for about 200 years, since her great-great-grandfather’s time. Well maintained, the farmhouse has been repaired, extended and renovated to house two modern toilets/bathrooms and five rooms to accommodate 10 tourists comfortably.
“This is one of the best stays so far. The location is amazing amid hills, orchards, step farming, stream, chirping of birds... basically we were at the nature's lap. However, the best thing about the place is aunty aka Aum. She made us fall in love with Bhutanese food...buckwheat pan cake, ema datshi, shakam datshi to name a few. Besides, Aum's son Tenzing was extremely helpful and accommodative to our needs. We enjoyed our hike around the homestay with Aum's daughter Rigcel. In all, staying in that homestay felt like we were home during a vacation wherein our mom pampered us with loads of food laced with love and a warm smile. May God bless this beautiful family!!”

“The rooms are super neat and comfortable and place has a very unique cozy and homely feel to it. The home cooked food was really sumptuous and tasty. The hosts are really courteous and warm and made us feel at home. They also helped us out with local sightseeing. Chimmi Lakhang temple is a 10 min walk and watching young monks play football there was really amazing.”
