Vacation rentals in Machen

Absolutely beautiful place in such a beautiful setting. My hubby and I felt very at home here. Our two little dogs loved it. The beach barn was spotless. The photos of the place are true to what it's like, however, if you're organised like us and think of bringing along coffee pods as you've seen photos of the machine so to not use all of the host's pods. Be aware it is not a Dolce Gusto machine, they now have a Tassimo. Don't fall into buying the wrong pods like we did by looking at the photos🤦‍♀️😂 A very short walk to The Captain's Wife pub and 1988 Indian, the food at both of these places is lovely and definitely worth trying! Lots of things to do and places to see whilst here. We drove to the Barrages walking over to Cardiff Bay, definitely worth a visit and also try Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, lovely walk around there and the medieval village. Barry Island beach is also perfect, it's lovely, clean, and perfect for dogs! We'd love to return the beach barn again in the future.

Absolutely lovely cottage in a lovely location! It was exceptionally clean when we arrived. Kim gave us very clear instructions on how to find the cottage, along with lots of recommendations of things to do! The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you might need for cooking, the only thing we would change would be having salt and pepper shakers rather than sachets. We really enjoyed the different flavoured coffees! We really enjoyed the local area- the local pub is a 3 minute walk away, and we also visited the local shop. We walked along the canal from the village to Crickhowell, which was a very easy and beautiful route! If we had stayed longer we would have made use of the bike hire in the village. The only thing we would have added would have been some board games/card games for when the weather isn’t on side! We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely come again. Thank you, Kim.

Had a lovely visit to Wales for a few days. I chose this accommodation as it looked clean, tidy and homely and it was exactly that! Valentina replied extremely promptly when booking and when messaged. She was so kind about numerous things and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely a recommended place to stay. Just wish I could take the shower home, an absolute dream if you have long hair that takes a while to rinse! Loved it, thanks so much to you both xxxx

We absolutely loved our stay – this place truly is Beyond Five Star. First and foremost, the value for money is incredible. The setting is like something out of a story book! It’s a stunning, peaceful location that feels both wild and wonderfully curated. The property itself has been lovingly and thoughtfully modernised to an exceptional standard. Everything feels brand new, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. The attention to detail is clear throughout – from the high-spec fittings to the generous welcome package with essentials and thoughtful touches, including cleaning products. We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi (an absolute dream), the local wildlife, scenic walks, and the brilliant little fire pit outside – great for evening chats and even a bit of outdoor cooking. The kitchen is really well-appointed with everything you could need. We will be back and take both cottages this time for us and friends.

We spent 2 nights at Sugarloaf cottage as we wanted to get some walking done in the Brecon Beacons. Alison was friendly from the start and made us feel at ease and our dog was made to feel very welcome too. The cottage looks exactly like the photos and was super clean. The views from the hot tub were fantastic. Alison gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and places to visit. Overall a fantastic couple of nights spent at Sugarloaf and if we are ever back this way, we’d opt to stay again. Thank you Alison 😄

Beautiful little cottage , so cosy with everything you needed . Our hosts were fantastic, they replied straight away when we messaged . And nothing was too much trouble.The area around the cottage has amazing views and walks for our dog. We got to sit out on the lovely rooftop balcony in the sun . It is so peaceful just what we needed. A great find and we will definitely come back .

We were given clear instructions on how to find the place which was very helpful. The cabin was lovely and looked like the photos with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. The cabin had everything you needed for a short stay and was very peacful and a nice little escape. Hosts were very helpful and friendly and couldnt ask for more. Had a lovely weekend

Kathryn is an amazing host and was very considerate. She ensured the lodge was warm and comfortable when we got in. The location was very beautiful as well. Overall it was a well spent weekend!

We had a wonderful stay , everything was perfect and so many little touches that made it feeling homely. Great location with easy to access to great walks and beautiful countryside. Katy was a very responsive host with lots of local knowledge and tips.
