When you arrive at The Mangersta Pod you will find yourself in an extremely clean and comfortable haven. To ensure you have a good night's sleep the camping mattresses were replaced by a comfortable mattress right from the start. Situated in the village of Mangersta on the Atlantic coast of Lewis, the pod is a few minutes walk away from a remote beach and stunning cliff walks. This is an area of exceptional natural beauty with over 20 beaches as well as beautiful moorland and lochs.
“I don’t even know what to say about this place. I was traveling alone and Tosh was an incredible host. She stood out in the rain for me when I was having trouble finding the place with a flashlight. (If you are traveling at night, Waze is a liar and says you have Arrived early-keep going and the pod is on your right at the bottom Of the hill and there is a sign out front). Anyway the pod is so incredibly comfy with all the things you may need to make a meal and take a nice hot shower. Tosh was always available for questions and to offer tips. Mangersta is an incredible place and part of the island. Not sure if it was because of the time of year I went but it felt like I had that corner of the world to myself most of the time. I was very sad to leave tosh and the pod behind and would definitely come back to stay again.”
Mangersta Croft Holidays offer glamping accommodation in 4 Cabins and Huts, spectacularly located in Uig, Isle of Lewis. The Shepherd's Hut was designed and handcrafted by host Derek. Cosy and comfortable it is equipped for self-catering and has an ensuite shower/WC. A breathtaking sandy beach is a short walk away, nestling between the Mangersta sea cliffs, one of the most beautiful coastlines to be found anywhere in Europe. The Hut looks across the croft fields to the North Atlantic Ocean.
“We stay for 2 nights at Yellow Shepherd’s Hut at Mangersta Croft Holidays and we loved our stay so much ! The location is outstanding : in the Island of Lewis, the housing is 5 minutes walk from the most beautiful beach where you can admire amazing sun beds. The accommodation is tastefully decorated, small but very well equipped. Elsie and Derek are considerate hosts, warm and discreet at the same time. We enjoyed our stay as well thanks to their welcome. In short, it is a remote place in the world, quiet and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful landscapes.”
Otter Bothy is a small, self contained cabin right on the banks of West Loch Roag, in the village of Carishader, perfectly situated for wildlife, fishing, walking, cycling, surfing and kayaking. Otter Bothy is situated beside Otter Bunkhouse, but offers private accommodation in a small but very cosy cabin, with spectacular views across West Loch Roag. At only a few metres from the shoreline, there aren't many places as close to the water as this! The minimum stay is two nights.
“A great place, especially quiet at this time of year (early November). Very cosy but well thought out space with storage boxes beneath the bed and space for your bag as well. A surprisingly spacious shower/toilet and just enough space to cook a basic meal. Loads of lovely landscapes and beaches a short drive away. Even saw an otter swim by about an hour after sunrise. Highly recommended.”
