The Goat Shed @ La Loma del Chivo (The Goat Hill)

This artistic structure, once called 'Hostel' and now called 'the goat shed', is made from papercrete and other recycled materials . The project is ongoing. It is quite comfortable and suitable for up to 4 guests. If you are looking for a new experience very far from suburbia and get the joke this is it! This sweet adobe home from the 1950s is nestled in a garden of fruit trees and succulents. A private patio has a ramada (covered patio) and is perfect for outdoor dining, BBQ and stargazing. The home was lovingly renovated and maintained by my parents for 25 years. Beautiful tiled floors, furniture and outdoor touches reflect their love of Mexico. Marathon is an eclectic, rural town in the heart of the Marathon Basin and a great place to explore the region, be it Big Bend, Ft. Davis or Marfa.

Sunset Ranch is an acre lot at the far southeast corner of Marathon, TX that backs up to the ranch land facing south that provides unobstructed views of sunrises and sunsets from the 700 sf covered porch. Marathon is a quaint west Texas town with a public park, gardens, restaurants and shopping. It also has a level 1 night sky rating for star gazing. Located 40 minutes from Big Bend National Park entrance, this is a launch point to explore the national park and other parks and communities.

A well-maintained guesthouse with the feel of the Old West. Located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but just minutes from downtown, the guesthouse is 30 feet from our house. You will be able to access all of the neat places that are of interest in this area as we are right on Hwy 90. The unit is just been remodeled with all new and I'm sure you will find this small space to be comfortable.
