The Original Montreal Non-Touristy Pink Bike Tour
We start in the hood with the highest bike ridership in North America, at a 3rd wave coffee shop big in the cycling community. We head through the Plateau to the foot of the mountain park to introduce MTL before cruising to see over a dozen works of mural art in the borough with the highest concentration of artists in the country. Works range from 2-9 storeys tall! Off to the entertainment district where the biggest festivals take centre stage before checking out the waterfront and river from a hidden spot by the port. Next is the Gaybourhood. We stop at pedestrian mall open all summer, great for people watching. The main strip houses art installations, music performances and great drag bars. Picnic in a local non-touristy park with a craft beer is next (afternoon 2:30pm departures stop for cheeky sorbet instead of a picnic and are 3 hours long not 4). Last bit we pedal by typical streets with baroque balconies, winding staircases, mansarded roofs and beautiful green alleyways. We'll hit up a few more iconic parks we locals call our living rooms before we get back to the shop to hand you a list of recommendations for the best food, local shopping, cool art galleries and the best bars. The essentials of travel, quoi. This is a great intro to the city past and present. The goal is to have you fall in love with Montréal. The tour is informal but informative and a must do.
