“Michael is very hospitable, accommodating and just so kind! There was a serious storm a few days before checkin, causing there to be no power. Michael was prompt with updating us on the status of the situation & allowing us to cancel if need be with no penalties. In the end, he resolved the power issue before we arrived & we didn’t need to cancel our stay. (He even offered an earlier check in & later check out to us) We also got a lil walkthrough tour of the place (it’s not big but was appreciated). The WiFi was good, everything worked out perfectly for us. He’s a great host! & the place is a great listing, highly recommend.”
Just 18 minutes by car to NYC, this beautiful 1860’s Victorian is in the Historic Hamlet of Palisades NY. Walking distance to the Hudson River, Palisades is home to many a silver screen star, the HNA Conference Center and the Lamont Earth Observatory. You will have the entire second floor of the house. Ample off-street parking. We are currently undergoing some renovations but work will not happen when guests are here. Pets are no longer accepted.
“What a great location! We really enjoyed our stay in this charming part of New York. The 9w market had yummy breakfast and the tallman park is right down the road for a nice easy hike/walk through the woods. Piermont is a super close drive with great restaurants for dinner. The bed was so comfortable we slept great! Great spot to stay if you are looking for someplace quiet and close to NYC.”
Home with A View is a lovingly restored 1890s house with original wood interiors, oriental rugs, books and art. You’ll enjoy a spectacular view over the Hudson River from your room and from the porch. Stroll to the train station (40 min trip to NYC) or, walk the Old Aqueduct trail to the village of Dobbs Ferry, Hastings on Hudson and Irvington. We are walking distance to Masters School and Mercy College. We are a short drive to Sarah Lawrence, Fordham, Columbia and other NYC area institutions.
“Near the Christmas break, we were lucky enough to stay for four nights with Dorothy and her wonderful family, and we just can't recommend this place enough! Everything was so memorable, from Dorothy's professional-level baked goods in the morning to the charm of a historic house that sits atop a hill overlooking the Hudson River. As others have commented, the pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the house itself as well as its interior - lovely wooden furniture, interesting art, beautiful rugs, and cozy fireplaces. In the room itself, we slept soundly on wooden beds with good firm mattresses and quilted blankets. The house is close to the famed Hudson aqueduct trail, which, if you hike far enough or take a car or a train up north, becomes wild and woodsy with an impressive bridge and waterfall at Croton Dam. Most of all, we felt so welcomed by Dorothy and her family. Each member of the family is fascinating - they are artists, curators, and adventurers, and each are interesting conversationalists who genuinely enjoy their guests. We brought our dog with us on this trip, and most nights, he spent more time hanging out with them than he did with us :) They really know how to do air-bnb the right way, which is that if you let people into your home, then make them feel at home! We are very much looking forward to returning someday. In addition to the Croton Dam and hiking all around, we also went to Stone Barns and neighboring towns, and we wished we had more time to see more of the Hudson. Come stay with Dorothy and her family if you love water, trees, little towns and most of all, kind hospitality.”
