Varteig has many great hiking trails to offer, swimming at Glomma (within walking distance), berry picking, proximity to Rudskogen and central road to both Rakkestad, Sarpsborg city center and Sweden (both Nordby and Töcksfors).

The house has sea views from the windows and nice patios. 5.5 km to the center of Fredrikstad about 20 min by bike. There is also a ferry rental 800 meters from the house, with a free ferry that can take you to Kråkerøy, Centrum and Gamlebyen 3 times an hour. About 10 min walk from the house.
