Tucked away in the village of Jawana (which means the village beneath the cliff), about 20 min drive through a farm road from the main road near Punakha Dzong is a Bhutanese treasure called Aum Wangmo Homestay. The 5-acre farm has been in Aum Wangmo’s family for about 200 years, since her great-great-grandfather’s time. Well maintained, the farmhouse has been repaired, extended and renovated to house two modern toilets/bathrooms and five rooms to accommodate 10 tourists comfortably.
“This is one of the best stays so far. The location is amazing amid hills, orchards, step farming, stream, chirping of birds... basically we were at the nature's lap. However, the best thing about the place is aunty aka Aum. She made us fall in love with Bhutanese food...buckwheat pan cake, ema datshi, shakam datshi to name a few. Besides, Aum's son Tenzing was extremely helpful and accommodative to our needs. We enjoyed our hike around the homestay with Aum's daughter Rigcel. In all, staying in that homestay felt like we were home during a vacation wherein our mom pampered us with loads of food laced with love and a warm smile. May God bless this beautiful family!!”

“Pema is a great host, he replies and solve your queries quickly. Though he was out of bhutan when i visited then also he was in touch by sending messages and guiding me how to reach the property what to do and all etc. Mrs. Kinley and her husband takes care of this property and they were very helpful and provided almost everything whatever we asked as we were having a kid along with us and for her we use to cook food, so they not only provided extra utensils but a room heater also considering the cold of thimphu without any extra charge. In one word i would say the property of Pema is just PERFECT for a family on tour to Bhutan.”

“A home away from home!! Since I was travelling solo..i was little more apprehensive abt everything in a new country but all my doubts and worries were put to rest and I was totally comfortable when I met and spent sometime staying with Simran. The entire experience from booking.. To communication prior the trip to the stay was seamless...and an enjoyable.. Unforgettable time..Simran is a warm person who takes cares of your small needs .. Is very helpful in planning your iternary ..she was my go to person everytime I needed nay help during my entire week of staying in Bhutan! The family is always around to give you a true sense of Bhutanese culture.. Had some of the best conversations over dinner with them! The room is just as it is listed and the hospitality much more than what you could expect! The view of the monestry from the room window has a calming effect...The house is close walking distance from the main town.. Also taxis are easily available... I'd recommend this plc for anyone who's looking at experiencing the plc and understand the culture of this country as is!”
