Nestled in a spotted gum & burrawang forest (6 acres with river frontage to the Bermagui River) & roughly 10 minutes out of town & beaches (3.5 km on an unsealed road), Moonrise on the River caters for people looking for a private bush retreat who enjoy waking to glorious sunrises, the dawn chorus of birdsong, sunsets, moonrises, the waves breaking from the surrounding beaches, bird watching, kayaking, bush walking & more.
“There is a book available to read at Moonrise which is about meditating with birds- and this is exactly what I did sitting on Moonrise’s verandah & just relaxing and switching off as I watched the many species of birds come to visit the little bird bath below in the garden. It was so delightful watching their antics and listen to their chattering. If you love a peaceful bush setting with bird song and a delightful breakfast provided by Susan then Moonrise is your place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
We live on a 1 acre farm in the gorgeous village of Tilba. It only takes 10 mins wander into the historic town of Tilba where you can enjoy lunch at a cafe, taste some of our famous Tilba cheese or a have beer at the pub. Your surrounded my water here so go surfing, fishing or swimming.
“Everything about Jody’s place was perfect! Jody was super thoughtful in the design and outfitting of the little cottage. All amenities were available for a weekend getaway, including thoughtful touches such as bath salts and local cheeses. Our dog loved sniffing around the amazing (fully enclosed) garden, snoozing by the fire, inspecting the chooks, and making friends with Cliffy and Frankie. The cottage is quite close to the highway and we could hear trucks on Friday night, but it was quiet for the rest of the weekend. There were no blinds on the window, which didn’t bother us, but might interrupt some light sleepers. The bathroom was major goals; a big deep bath, super warm shower, and an enviously large fiddle leaf fig. Walking into town took less than 10 minutes. The pub was great (and had a dog friendly enclosed beer garden). Ellen’s cafe in Central Tilba and the Galette place in Tilba Tilba both had dog friendly decks and did good breakfast. Jody provided a little book with heaps of local tips and other dog friendly locations.”
On arrival you will be greeted with a beautiful breakfast basket. The basket has local 'Honor' sourdough bread, local Tilba milk, fresh eggs and real butter. We are nestled in the bush alongside the Salty Lagoon Nature Reserve - plenty of bird life and the odd wallaby. We are close to the Bermagui River and also the beach. We are within walking distance to the shops and cafes. Our cottage is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
“We spent a very pleasant long weekend in Shannon and Gary's lovely little cottage in the bush. Great setting and location close to town, the river and beaches. It was sparkling clean, bed was comfortable and the provision of freshly laid eggs, quality bread , butter and milk was much appreciated. We plan on returning soon!”
