What’s required to host Airbnb Experiences
Airbnb Experiences are completely reimagined experiences—hosted by locals who know their city best. Activities include unique tours, tastings, outdoor activities, workshops, and more.
Experiences are vetted for quality, and hosts, co-hosts, and listings are expected to meet our standards and requirements. Here are some key things to know.
Basic standards
- Identity verification: Verify your identity and, where applicable, pass background checks and other vetting.
- Licence and certification: Maintain valid licences, insurance, and certifications relevant to the activity. Provide proof when required.
- Knowledge: Have formal training or other relevant background, such as education, apprenticeship, or family heritage. We may verify the education, employment history, or awards and recognition you include in your listing.
- Activity: Connect the activity to the local culture, cuisine, or people. The experience should encourage guests to participate and get to know you and each other.
- Place: Choose a location that’s safe, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for the experience.
Listing standards
- Photos: Submit at least 5 high-quality, colour photos. Share as many as you need to set clear expectations.
- Title: Focus on the main activity. Start your title with a verb that conveys what guests will do during the experience—like “explore,” “discover,” or “taste.”
- Description: Complement your title with details that emphasize why a guest might book the experience, who you are, and what makes the location special.
- Itinerary: Outline the experience’s specific activities from start to finish, so guests can decide whether the experience is a good fit. Include at least one activity.
Experience submissions and changes made to approved listings will be reviewed.
Hosting requirements
- Bookings: Honour guest reservations, and avoid cancelling for preventable reasons.
- Messaging: Communicate with guests promptly before their reservation starts.
- Safety: Choose a safe venue, and provide guests with proper training and equipment to prevent injury. Have a plan for dealing with emergencies.
- Ratings: Maintain high star ratings from guests.
- Listing: Keep your listing details accurate, including the location, start and end times, and any co-hosts and guest requirements, such as the appropriate age and skill level for activities.
The vetting process is ongoing. Airbnb reviews guest feedback, host cancellations, and reports to customer service about the safety and quality of experiences.
In addition to what’s outlined above, you also need to comply with Airbnb’s Terms of Service and Host Ground Rules and Hosting Safety Policies.
Hosts who don’t meet our standards and requirements may have their listing or account suspended or removed. Read the full Airbnb Experiences standards and requirements.
