  • Michelle's place is a rare treasure - a picture-perfect romantic retreat. You have as much privacy as you want and/or as much delightful sparkling conversation as you want with Joyce and Michelle. Monkey Island was one of the highlights for my husband. Every meal was an exciting adventure. Everything perfect for us.

  • Have you ever thought of a place that is beyond your creative dreams for a vacation? Well, that is the Caribbean sea plus a must stay at Michelle's place. For us, it was beyond our expectations. Michelle was an incredible host, she prepared amazing food with ingredients from her garden. We had a comfy large bedroom that opened directly to the sea, a shower with rain water which is the right temperature ofc, and a porch with hamac and rocking chairs. Water was incredible clear and perfect for swim. I can write on and on but in the end is the same conclusion: this is the eco-friendly place you would want stay when visiting Bocas del Torro in Panama.

  • Michelle is a great host. Both myself and my 6 year old really enjoyed staying at her place and associating with her and her friend. The property is as described. You can travel from the various islands by water taxi. This can get pricey and they only take cash. Please keep this in mind, so you can get the best of the experience. Michelle was great with scheduling boat rides as needed in order to get you where you needed to go. If you have questions about tours, she can assist you with that as well. We really enjoyed the peacefulness of the property, the nature, and Michelle’s great cooking. I asked if she could make some fish for me while I was there. She was able to get an amazing spread together. The red snapper is a must, if you like fish. All was so fresh and very tasty. My son is a picky eater, but she tried day after day to find something he would eat. We finally had a few thing narrowed down over time. My son said he was going to miss her and her friend when we left. It’s definitely a different experience and for the open-minded, but well worth the journey. I definitely recommend staying at Michelle’s place. I wish I would have planned to stay longer.

  • This magical place is for people who love being in nature and on the water. Expect the sounds of the jungle to be your music and the windows into nature to be your television. Expect your taxi to be by boat and expect to swim rather than walk. Expect your food to take longer because the ingredients are picked fresh from the garden and lots of labor goes into the meal you’ll eventually love and savor. Michelle uses her knowledge of blending spices and Ayurvedic medicine to serve you the healing and healthy food! Do not expect regular internet, cellular service, or processed foods. Michelle is full of knowledge and experience that will interest anyone who loves to learn about the world through travel. If you are lucky to hear some of her stories, you will walk away inspired. The place is one of the most tranquil places I have been. Waking up to sunrise and watching the twinkling stars and bioluminescence at night is beautiful. I learned how to make coconut oil, how chocolate is processed and that Howler monkeys will lounge on your shoulders if you have good energy. I spent four days and wish I could have spent more. I’m grateful to have been to De La Luna and will come again!

    Keedra2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect days in Paradise. Michelle is a very good host and cares a lot about her guests. You will get the real Bocas experience at De la Luna Resort. I definitely recommend it! Thank you very much Michelle for these breahtaking days.

  • We had an unbelievable stay in Michelle’s romantic bungalow. After being a little disappointed over our first days in Bocas Del Toro we were beyond delighted with our stay with Michelle. We could not have asked for a better way to spend our honeymoon. The food was unbelievable, I have never eaten vegan food before and I’m not a big fan of trying new food either. So I was delighted to figure out that every dish was delicious and filled with flavors I had never even heard of, let alone eaten before. The bungalow has an amazing view, making you feel like you are truly in touch with the nature, and the conversations we had, and all the things we learned from Michelle may have been the biggest surprise of all. We look forward to our next stay already! Words can’t describe how amazing our stay was. If there is ever a place I will recommend someone to go, it is without a doubt here!

  • I truly feel Michelle's place should be written up in a magazine. I challenge anyone to find a more eco-sensitive experience anywhere on the planet. One note: while you are not required to eat your meals there, be aware that there are zero other options unless you bring everything with you - or perhaps if you have your own boat or want to take a water taxi to Bocas Town (approx 45 mins) each time you want to eat. However, Michelle is a fabulous chef. We loved every meal we had. Absolutely everything is locally sourced - most of it from her own farm that extends up the hill from the lodging. People who prefer vegan diets will love it. We do not follow that particular lifestyle ourselves but had a meal she prepared where everything was plant-based and came from her garden/farm. It was wonderful. We will be sure to visit her again the next time we are in Bocas. Plus, she is a fabulous person just to sit and talk with. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

  • Our time at Michelle's beautiful bungalow was an experience like none other. Michelle and her friend, Francois, who hosted us treated us like family and took such good care of us it felt like we were at an all-inclusive resort. We felt confident at every turn and Michelle helped us arrange all of our transportation and activities with ease. She was always thinking ahead to what we might want or need, and went above and beyond to give us a unique experience. Every meal was farm to table and mindblowing, from our first experiences with vegan food to catching and preparing our own Conch. She even arranged for us to have fresh-caught lobster when we mentioned we loved shellfish. We loved our visit to Monkey Island and Zapatilla but truthfully, could have easily spent our days snorkeling, kayaking, reading in our hammocks, and conversing with our hosts. It felt like the perfect compromise between having some creature comforts and living off the grid, which was perfect for us for our 3 day visit. We can't wait to return.

    Bocas del Toro, Panama

This queen suite is located at Los Balcones over the Sea, an over-the-water hotel with a private patio. Enjoy breakfast on the deck, relax in the water or take a kayak out for a tour around the island. We are located a short boat ride from the main town of Bocas del Toro, but we have everything you need on this island too. Beaches, surf, bars/restaurants and more!
Your room has a private balcony, as well as a large waterfront deck over the sea! Our location on the island allows for a cool breeze even on the hottest of days. You can walk to the island's surf breaks and beaches, or take a quick water taxi instead. Everything is close by on Carenero- restaurants, bars, a grocery store, etc. and the taxi to town is only $1. We offer breakfast service in the morning and can provide dinner on request.
Isla Carenero is located very close to Bocas Town by way of water taxi. The island is small and has a relaxed vibe. We are within walking distance to restaurants, beaches, and surf breaks. It should be noted that while the adjacent neighborhood is safe to walk through, it is an indigenous village where people live in a simple manner (likely, very different from the travelers who stay with us at the hotel). Please be respectful in understanding that Panama is a developing country and poverty is still present in many areas, although this should not impact your stay in any negative manner:)
  • Clean, warm water, cheap good breakfast. Beautiful beaches and a supermarket are within walking distance. Our room was even cleaned every day.

    Christian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay, super host, very helpful

    Genevieve2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place, very neat, super attentive, perfect location if you are looking for something to relax but close to the town. The recommendations they give you are super good, you can enjoy the beach and good restaurants without leaving the Island

    Dorian2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Jerry are wonderful hosts. They are working hard on renovating their property. The location is great and it is easy to grab a water taxi anywhere you want to go. There are some great places to eat close by. Jerry and Lesley are very responsive and also had great tips on things to see and do.

    Karen2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is definitely the best in Bocas. The rooms are comfy and clean, you’ll get a delicious breakfast, the view is amazing and the hosts are just THE BEST!

    Laura2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 5 nights at this place. The hosts are very attentive and a great help to advise us in the choice of activities or beaches. The only drawback is that we must always use a water taxi to get everywhere on the main island. So plan about $ 5 / person per day to leave and return to the room. Thanks again

    Alexandre2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay.

    Xio2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Jerry's place is great to be when visiting Bocas. The a/c and ceiling fan are a godsend in hot humid Bocas. Beaches on the other side of the island are easily gotten to by foot. Lovely restaurant just on the southern tip of the island (Leaf Eaters) and more choices towards the beach area. Quick $1 water taxis ride into town. We've lived in Bocas a few years back and the whole town (not just near this place) can be very noisy on weekends. The week days are quiet. We had no problems with noise or loud music, or any music night or day during our mid week stay. The indigenous village on the south end is very basic, as another reviewer noted. But the children are happy and playing and always ready to say hi! And well, it does remind us how lucky we are to be able to take vacations. And our “cheap” vacations often take us to places like this village. But these folks are willing to share their island with us.

This is a house I designed and built myself on stilts on a beautiful bit of calm sea. In the sea below you can see lots of fish and occasional stingrays, and around the house you can see hummingbirds.
This is a house which I designed and made. You will have the whole house to yourself. It is made entirely of wood and is on stilts over the calmest bit of sea with a wooden walkway past the mangroves to the entrance. I tried to make my house into a work of art so I hope you enjoy your stay. Many of my paintings are on the walls.
The house is on stilts over clear, clean water. You can see how beautiful the location is from the map; on this side of the road is the calm peaceful sea and over the other side of the road is the beach with bigger waves, so you have a choice of places to swim. The house is on the edge of the main town of Bocas Del Toro, in the direction of some nice beaches and jungle. This is a safe, real neighbourhood of locals and expats. In my opinion it's the best place to be located on this amazing island.
  • Filiberto was an amazing host. He picked us up and dropped us off at our water taxi dock, and let us check in early to accommodate our arrival time as well as stay a bit late as we were taking the night bus back to Panama City. He is so friendly and gave us lots great tips about the area. His house was really cool, and what was even more impressive was he built it himself. The art in all the rooms is beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. When we come back to Bocas we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you so much Filiberto!

    Rochelle2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Genius the great Filiberto !!!!!

    Diego2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Don Filiberto was incredible, super friendly and too many good tips, he was always attentive and gave us very good advice, it was always fun to talk with him and in no way will I stay in Bocas if it is not with him.

    Tone2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique travel experience. Easy to get to and from town. Very quite location with great open air views

    Robert2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Filiberto’s artist house. This house is beautiful and authentic. It is spacious, and richly decorated with the artists own amazing paintings and sculptures. The house has 3 floors and has a nice open solution, so there are no regular windows, which brings you closer to nature and the environment. You can see the stars right from bed which is nice. You also have a rowing boat at your disposal so you can fish and swim right outside the house. If you appreciate great art and a special house experience, this is definitely the place! Filiberto, the owner, is a one of a kind and became very dear to us. He was very helpful with whatever we needed and he picked us up in town at our arrival. He also entertained us with stories from his past, which we really appreciated. He is a genuine person who cares for his visitors. He also has a special bond to his autistic son, which he visits almost every day. Meanwhile he is not afraid to be original with his art and opinions about the course of society. We feel really lucky to have met him and hope to see him again!

    Axel2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • A very unique and lovely place ❤️

    Prisi2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this place!!!! Filiberto arrived to pick us up himself when our boat came in. He gave us a tour around and tons of local tips. We had an entire house for just the two of us. More space than we needed. But such a value. The property is about 30 minute walk or 9 minute drive to Bocas proper. There are cabs constantly running up and down the street. They only cost a dollar. Nice to stay where people actually live and not the tourist area.

Nomad Tree Lodge isn’t for everyone… Off-grid terrain and climbing 60 stairs to your cabin high in the RAINforest jungle canopy isn’t for everyone. Water conservation and eco conscious traveling isn’t for everyone. Walking to the islands best shallow reef break isn’t for everyone. It’s for anyone looking to escape the 4 walls of a hotel room and experience something truly unique. Nomad Tree Lodge is for the wanderers, the seekers; is it for you? Cabin types: www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
Your private 156 sq ft cabin with a 58 square foot patio is situated on an amazing rainforest hillside. Connect with nature and experience the jungle while still enjoying a comfortable bed, electricity, wifi and access to a modern bathroom and kitchen. Enjoy being high up in the trees, listening to the waves of the ocean crash, or walk less than 5 minutes to the beach to watch the sunrise over the ocean. The cabin sits above the ground in the trees and is fully screened in, so you enjoy the view and ocean breeze without any bugs. That means you don't have to sleep with an annoying bug net. They may look cute and exotic, but we've found bug nets are really no fun to sleep under. Each cabin features a queen-sized cooling gel memory foam mattress, lockable cabinetry and desk. The private 70 foot square foot bathroom is detached from the A-frame, but is very closely connected to the cabin (less than a minute walking distance). The bathroom includes an open air shower with a rainfall shower. All rooms are fully furnished with linens, towels, and soap. Plus each room includes umbrellas for the occasional rainy day. Please note, the color of your cabin can vary. We have multiple cabins spread out on our 2.5 acre property. The central common areas of the lodge are all have great wifi access. Each of the cabins access to wifi vary depending on your device and the location in proximity to the central common areas. Some of the cabins have great wifi inside the cabin itself, while others might require you access the wifi from the deck. Please, remember to scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Read more about the neighborhood" link in the Neighborhood section for more info on our location. Nomad is a unique and awesome experience, but understanding our location will help you decide if it's right for you! View All Cabin Types: www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
We are located just steps away from a shallow reef surf beach. Also, there are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. Please understand world class surf beaches aren't always great places to swim. This beach has reef and rock on it for a perfect left and right reef break. There are swimming beaches located about a 15-20 minute walk from our lodge, but the beach closest to us is for surfing. Nomad really is an awesome experience, but it's not for everyone! As mentioned, we are not located in Bocas Town, or even walking distance to town. We are about 6km from town. You can easily take a $3-5, per person, cab to town every single day if you want. Bocas Town itself is built on the bayside, so it's a great place for bars and restaurants, but not a great place to enjoy the ocean. That's why so many people choose to stay in our neighborhood. If you can't afford a 15 minute cab ride, or wouldn't enjoy a 30 minute bike ride then don't book with us. If you think being 6km from town means we aren't worthy of 5 stars for location, then don't book with us! Please remember, you are choosing to stay with us, not the other way around. Please don't arrive here knowing our distance from town and knowing we are in the jungle behind a surf beach and not a swimming beach, and then say the location isn't great. We understand it's not great for everyone, so if you wouldn't consider being outside of town, in the jungle, just behind a surf beach great, just don't stay with us!
  • It’s a great place to stay! Amanda is really nice and will help you with what-you-need! You can see monkeys jumping around and we also saw a Toucan from the swimming pool!

    Laura2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay with Amanda and Asher. Would definitely recommend it!

    Nicolas2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We just loved it! This place has its vibe. Very stylish, very adventurous! We had really good time at Nomad. Despite of the fact that the houses are in the jungle it was sparkling clean.

    András2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Big blow of heart, splendid place, cleanliness, originality, in the heart of the jungle with the sea just opposite ......... and state of mind happy people

    Aline2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very quite place, away from the crowds, in the middle of the trees, 5 minute walk from the beaches. Asher and Amanda were great hosts. The food is great, especially the chocolate brownie :) Would definitely recommend this place.

    René2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A relaxing place, a friendly welcome while living an extraordinary experience by sleeping directly with the sounds of the jungle! The food is so good (the 3 tacos and the brownie: miiaamm), Amanda and her employees made us feel at home, I highly recommend it!

    Noémie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda is the best. Very good attention. Very chill everything. Away from the center, but 5 minutes by car or bike in 20 you move everywhere. Clean, ecological place and above all the good vibes of the place. Place attended with passion and a lot of work. Do not hesitate to go because it is far, it is worth it.

    Lu2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing time in Bocas del toro and that was largely thanks to Nomad. The place is idyllic, set back in a forest with a quick walk to great surf. We couldn’t have felt more welcomed and met great people while staying there. The rooms are simple, tasteful and incredibly comfortable. Everyone who works there is super friendly and really help make the great vibe and atmosphere of the place. Thank you to everyone for making our stay what it was. When we come back to the amazing Bocas, we’ll be going straight to Nomad. Gracias.

Bluff Eco-Cabin is a very luminous, well constructed cabin set by our artificial pond and located only a few steps away from the beautiful and very uncrowded Bluff Beach on Isla Colón, the main island of the archipelago of Bocas del Toro. With its unique location you will enjoy tranquility and wildlife (monkeys, hummingbirds and others) while close by some really nice lounge restaurants/cafes. It is located 15min away from town by Taxi or 30min by bike and is recommend for nature's lovers !
The place is entirely made of wood and located on top of a small hill with a lotus pond at the lower part of the property. If you are a nature lover and like to bird watch or check out the Iguanas sunbathing on the grass or you want to see turtles lay eggs on the beach or monkeys eating fruits out of the trees, or if you are a surfer and want to be near the best surf in the archipelago, or if you just like hanging out on stunning beaches this cabana has got the location for you. Just a few steps from breathtaking Bluff Beach on one acre of well manicured landscaping with plenty of mature fruit trees this is a great place to get away and really relax and enjoy the surroundings. Bluff is just over 2 miles from downtown Bocas and you can get to the cabana by bus, taxi, or rent a 4 wheel or Bicycle ( the road to Bluff is very scenic and very enjoyable on a bike but a little bumpy). If you rent a 4 wheel or bike you can enjoy the trails to some spectacular places like La Picina, which is a natural salt water pool, or if your really ambitious Mimbitimbi which is a very secluded natural wonderland with a fresh water lagoon. See video at http://vimeo.com/106536607
We are located on a hill facing Bluff Beach and enjoy a genuine Caribbean beach lifestyle. Monkey and other animals often come by in the trees and also sea turtle come lay eggs from April through August.
  • We had a great time at Sterling's cabin. It's superbly located a couple of hundred metres from the beach - the best, cleanest and quietest beach on the island. The view and sounds of the howler momkeys and exotics birds from the balcony were breathtaking. There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance and the best by far was the Hummingbird just up the road. The cabin really helps you switch off from modern life and also makes you consider how much energy you use at home as this is off the grid. It's probably best to shower in the afternoon or evening as by then the sun has warmed the water tank somewhat, but that was the only thing we had to really think about other than relax. Sterling was very hospitable and generously took us to the airport. If you're arriving at night you may want to bring a torch as the access track is not lit. All in all a great place to stay and chill out. Would definitely come back

    Mark2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place!! Talking about value for money then this is it! Its located just a short walk to the stunning Bluff beach and the lodge is overlooking the jungle. Here you can spot many animals right there from your balcony with a morning coffee. We have seen many monkeys, hummingbirds, parrots and lots of caymans and many more. This place is really of grid and means you can enjoy the place even more. Lots of local tips and tours are in the lodge. So its easy to get around. I would say a big fat 10+ on the place and its owners!

    Marinus2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I just LOVED it! I spend 2 weeks by myself in the cabin, and it was such an AMAZiNG experience ! The jungle sounds and animals kept me company. Just 3 min walk to Bluff beach( the best beach in Bocas if you ask me) If you want to find some inner peace and hang out with some houler monkeys-I highly recomend this place!!

    Thea2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cabana is located just in front of Playa Bluff, a perfect place to relax and enjoy the nature. The cabana runs on solar power and rainwater, which is great! It has all you need to cook some meals, so you don't always need to go to restaurants if you don't want to. Just make sure to stock up some food, as there is no markets nearby. Sterling is a great guy who was always ready to help us with whatever we needed.

    Gilberto2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful off the grid home! Very comfortable and the surrounding jungle is amazing! A wonderful place to wake everyday!

    David2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as expected. Very nice place. Location is great so close to the beach you can hear the waves. Sterling and Ludo were excellent communicators and they each deserve a 5 star rating for their help. Anyone who loves nature and wants a great experience in Bocas should stay at Sterling's place.

    Brian2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place a few meters from Bluff Beach, surrounded by hummingbirds and butterflies, we slept at night listening to sea waves and monkeys. Paradise! We had a car so it was easy to go shopping – otherwise you need to buy everything before arrival. The wooden cabin is beautiful, as seen in the photos, it runs with a solar panel and rainwater. Fully recommend it!!

Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up to the sound of the waves. Our bright and simple cabins are built on 14 feet stilts to get you closer to the tree canopy and its wildlife - its feels like a tree-house, totally immersed in lush nature! Ideal for: surfers, beach lovers, explorers, day-dreamers! Outside of Bocas town (3.7mi) close enough for nights outs, groceries and tours but far enough for tranquility, privacy and secluded coves. Be barefoot & free!
Relax on your private deck, watch the wildlife, be captivated by the sounds and light of lush jungle around you. Enjoy your own fully equipped kitchen (mini-fridge, stove, utensils etc) with service hatch connecting the kitchen to the covered deck, where you could spend hours watching the wildlife, practicing yoga or just napping in a hammock. Get a restful night sleep in a queen size bed (orthopedic mattress, quality cotton sheets) protected by the square mosquito net above. Our "wow" factor is carefully designed luminous bathroom with walk-in jungle-view rain-water shower, that has an outdoor feel to it. High vaulted ceilings, numerous screened openings and roof sky-lights bring lots of light and gives an open and airy feel to the space. If you dream about relaxing with a book, captivated by nature all around, this is the place for you! Unfortunately this is not a place for you if you: * Have extreme phobia of insects * Require air-conditioning (we do have floor fans) or TV to feel at home * People with restricted mobility that are unable to walk up the stairs to the equivalent of first floor. We have designed our place with following eco-principles and hope you'll appreciate them too.. * construction of the cabins was planned around existing forest as not to cut down any tree or disturb canopy that is used by the wildlife as their "roads" and "bridges". * there is no trash collection so ingenious recycling is a must * all the water comes from the rain catchment system, good on your skin and the environment * grey water is returned back to water the garden (we use biodegradable laundry detergent) * biological septic tank is designed on "Watson & Wick" principles (where aerobic bacteria biodegrade waste) * all the wood for our cabins is locally sourced * reducing environmental impact: minimal use of cement, no grass lawns, no air-conditioning, LED lights only.. Our objective is to offer an unique, comfortable, sustainable place, right in the tropical forest to an independent travelers.
This is very green and peaceful area of the Island. Paunch surf break is 3 min walk, Tiger Tail break: 4 min. Bluff beach: unspoiled, amazing stretch of sand of 5 km long, where marine turtles come to lay their eggs (Apr-Aug) - 30 min walk. On our street you will also find two very local huts where indigenous Panamanian Gnabe Bugle people live.
  • Great place! I would stay there again next time in bocas. Jane is a great hostess!

    Todd2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful experience staying in the jungle canopy, listening to monkeys in the morning and the waves crashing against the shore.

    Russell2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Max are wonderful hosts. They communicate so well before hand you feel like you are ready to go when you arrive .They had special touches like a fresh flowers and tea and cold beer and fruit for our arrival. We had a true jungle experience. Our cabin was clean and efficient. We heard the howler monkeys each day and the ocean at night. We texted with them through our our two week stay if we needed anything. However they are on the property for anything important.

    Regina & Dan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We'd read the good reviews, but none of them (or the pictures) did the cabin justice. Jane and Maxi were super easy to communicate with and gave us all the info we needed to find the place easily. The cabin itself is incredible, amazingly built and it has everything you could possibly need. It's off the beaten track and a proper jungle experience, but it's also not cut off from the rest of Bocas and it's really easy to go into town/the beach. We'd definitely stay there again if we were back in Bocas!

    Bettina2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The property is a bit out of the way in the middle of the jungle. Maxi and Jane are super nice hosts. You gave us great tips.

    James2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Would you like to swap the sounds of the city for the sounds of nature? How about waking up to howler monkeys and bird calls (including the neighborhood roosters) rather than car traffic? Consider escaping the city scene and spend some time in the treehouses that Max and Jane have tucked into their jungle lot near Paunch Beach. Simple cabins on platforms raises guests into the jungle canopy to better enjoy the local flora and fauna. Max and Jane are great hosts, attentive and informative without being intrusive. Local knowledge was generously shared and 2 free cold ones, as well as basic supplies, awaited our arrival. Be sure to bring shoes or sandals that can get muddy or wet as it rains regularly to keep the surrounding jungle lush. We loved going native in style.

    Wendy2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, you really get the jungle experience at Paunch. A howler monkey was 5 meters from our kitchen window on our second day. We had a well appointed cabin with all the conveniences we needed. Our cabin was above a little stream. We slept to the lullaby of jungle sounds. There was a huge buttress tree in full view from our deck. Max and Jane are friendly, thoughtful, and always looking for ways to make your stay enjoyable. The local bus was okay, but we relied more on the local taxis. The rates were reasonable and the drivers were friendly. I would highly recommend this Airbnb if you are wanting to get away from it all. The cabins are away from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town yet easy to reach in a few minutes. Totally relaxing. Lots to see and do. No regrets. Great experience.

    Alvin2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was a dream and one of the best we had on our trip. The open design of the tree house really integrated us into nature and once we were even greeted by a horde of monkeys. Because there is nothing missing in the kitchen, we could enjoy our own breakfast on the cosy terrace. Although the location is quiet and beautiful, the way to the centre (supermarkets) can only be done by taxi, shuttle or bike. We really recommend this cabin :)

One of our two overwater bungalows (see Sea Monkey Overwater Bungalow 2) at the edge of Old Bank town on Isla Bastimentos with a collapsible 12x8 foot front wall, 180 degree ocean views from the bed and giant over water deck with over water hammock. The bungalow features a king size bed and twin daybed with luxury linens, a spacious hot water shower, handmade local toiletries, and a mini-fridge. Gourmet breakfast at our restaurant next door is included.
The bungalow is 20' by 22' with giant sliding doors that collapse to create a 12' wide opening to the sea. There are unobstructed views from all doors and windows of the sea, neighboring islands, and the village of Old Bank. The sleeping area features an ultra-comfy king size mattress, luxury linens from the US, a romantic mosquito net, industrial ceiling fan, and soft lights connected to a dimmer. There is also an additional twin daybed for use as seating or for an additional guest. The deck is 20' by 8' and features an overwater hammock, deck chairs, and lights for nighttime use. A spacious hot water shower sits at the center of the open-plan bathroom with counters and fixtures made from local hardwoods and driftwood. We also provide toiletries from Punta Coco Soaps, a local producer of all-natural soaps and lotions made with coconut oil from Bocas del Toro.
Old Bank is a local, Caribbean village. It's the real deal. It's far less touristy than Bocas Town and provides guests with the chance to mingle with local residents rather than only other travelers (though there are plenty of opportunities for that, as well). There are multiple restaurants and bars out over the water, and beautiful views from just about everywhere. You will definitely hear our neighbors' chickens crowing and may hear faint hints of Caribbean music coming from the overwater bar at the other end of town. We think it makes for a relaxing, fun atmosphere that really feels like you're in the Caribbean. The Sea Monkey is located at the residential east end of Old Bank just a short walk from bars, restaurants, and markets. It feels secluded but also affords the opportunity to be connected to the town. You can fish from your room, swim out to a local snorkeling spot, or hike up into the jungle directly from our property, while also having direct access to Old Bank. Just outside of the village, Isla Bastimentos is a wild wonderland. A short hike takes you up into the jungle from town, where you can stop for lunch and the views at Coco Hill vegetarian restaurant or a snack and coffee at Up In the Hill Chocolate Farm before heading down the back side of the island to Wizard Beach, a secluded beach that rivals any in the world. By boat, you can reach the world famous Red Frog Beach for $5 per person in about 10 minutes, where beach bars, surfing, and swimming await. From there, it's possible to hike to Polo Beach, a beautiful, secluded beach overseen by a colorful local resident whom the beach is named after. Polo Beach has excellent snorkeling. Further down the island, those up for an adventure can take tours to the Nivida Bat Caves or to visit the Ngobe-Bugle village of Salt Creek, or to the Cayos Zapatillas within the Bastimentos National Park. The Zapatillas are unspoiled and uninhabited (other than two park rangers who protect them) and feature beautiful beaches and snorkeling, as well as fun, short hikes around their perimeter and interior. Day trips to the Zapatillas usually include a stop at Cayo Coral, where you can stop for a snorkel and a sea food lunch at one of the over water restaurants in the area. Beyond Isla Bastimentos, guests can take a short kayak to Isla Solarte to snorkel at Hospital Point, or a boat or kayak ride to the Blue Coconut, in one of the most picturesque locations in Bocas. The Blue Coconut has a restaurant and bar and loans out snorkels and stand-up paddle boards to guests who wish to explore their house reef. On Isla Colon, you can rent bicycles to ride all the way to Bluff Beach, stopping for a beer or something to eat on the way, or to Bocas Del Drago and Starfish Beach, where the beach is strung with seafood shacks in the sand. Public transportation is also available to both places. No matter what your interests (as long as they include the sea!), Bastimentos and Bocas Del Toro won't disappoint.
  • Great stay! What a location, what a view. Would love to come back :)

  • Bastimientos is an out of this world place—the “Caribbean Venice” we called it. Stacy’s place, restaurant, and thoughtful suggestions made this a trip to remember. The food at the restaurant is AMAZING!

  • Beautiful cabins right on the water. Sleeping with windows and front of the cabin open to the seaside was a nice experience, especially waking up with a view over the water from your bed was wonderful. Alexia, Henry and Eddy (the managers) were very lovely and welcoming people and did everything to make our stay wonderful. The food in the restaurant is excellent and great breakfasts!! We found the price a little high, the rooms are more basic than we expected.

  • It's easy to get bogged down in reviews so when I see a few that say "Just book it" I just book it. So let me add to the list....Just. Book. It. While using The Sea Monkey as a home base, me and my 10yr old daughter had a blast. We saw dolphins, sloths, monkeys, sting rays, tons of fish - and some peak humanity in the form of the denizens of the Sea Monkey (Stacy, Keith, Eddy, Frannie, and other people whose names have slipped away). Breakfasts and dinners were awesome. Being able to book tours from there - awesome. Every night in the 8pm hour a dolphin would show up outside our room. The room is spectacular. We saw shooting stars and satellites sitting out at night as well as giant thunder/lightning storms in the distance. We stayed there the middle of the week in October and I felt like we were the only visitors on the island. Weather was drop dead gorgeous. Rainy season for Panama City does not necessarily equal rainy season in Bocas. There is so much to do there, we only scratched the surface. So I guess we'll have to go back. Thank you to everyone there who made our short time on Basti real special.

    Cassidy2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow was perfectly located about a 5 minute boat ride from the main island and airport. The view was spectacular with 5-6 boats anchored in the near by bay. The place was very clean and had all of the basics. Just a great place to get away from the busy life and provides a place to relax. The staff was more than helpful and everyone was great. I really enjoyed my stay and all the activities the islands had to offer. Thanks, Chris M.

    Chris2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sea monkey bungalows is everything you need to rest and disconnect from your city life. We spent the whole day on the deck just sun bathing and swimming all day long, nothing else to disturb, it is like being on your private beach. When you get hungry you just swing by the restaurant which is one of the best in the island. But the highlight goes to the friendly and super helpful staff and the delicious included breakfast.

    Leonardo2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I are from the US and was looking for a different experience for our honeymoon. I had stumbled across the Sea Monkey bungalow and like everyone else says you just have to do it. The best way to explain is luxury camping on water; it’s not your all inclusive resort but it’s also not pitching a tent. It’s is relaxation with beautiful simplicity. The owners were not there but the manager, “Keith”, was 100% accommodating beyond expectations from food to knowledge of tours and places to visit. Fanny works at night and very personable. The food never disappointed and can’t say enough about the coconut French toast. It’s an experience that we are blessed to have for the rest of our lives.

Hidden within the trees lining two breathtaking coves next to Bluff Beach, Tesoro Escondido provides a simple, rustic, quiet, and laid back refuge for nature lovers. The house and surrounding gardens are designed based on permaculture principles. Energy is generated by the sun and wind. Water is collected by our rain catchment system and plumbed throughout the lodge. Most of the grey water is used to water the gardens. The decorations, walls and furniture are often inspired by nature using materials either recycled or collected from our surroundings. All of that we do, or request of you to do, reflect our commitment to "tread lightly" on the environment. We want to provide you with an opportunity to not only live in harmony with nature but to enjoy yourself as well. All rooms and cabinas have balconies or deck access with hammock and chairs, are furnished, have private bathrooms, private kitchen or kitchen access, mosquito nets, good matresses and either ceinling fan or a small fan by the beds. There is no air conditioning or television, at Tesoro Escondido, but we provide WIFI (main lodge only) free of charge. Four miles away from town, you are just steps away from surfing some of the best waves in Panama, bird-watching, beach-combing, snorkeling hidden coves, and watching ancient sea turtle lay their eggs...And all this for a very affordable price.

  • The location of this quaint inn is hard to beat with a beautiful, swimmable beach right in front of the property. With a restaurant right on sight, we were spoiled by Salvatore and staff who offered gourmet food and drinks. A separate kitchen is available if you want to prepare your own food. It’s quiet enough to be restful but others are around if you feel like socializing with the friendly, family-like community. Many different levels and settings are available to find a hammock or a sitting area to chill and enjoy the natural setting. We found Tesoro Escondido to truly be a ‘hidden treasure.’

  • We loved our stay at Tesoro Escondido! The location is stunning with its own private beach near Playa Bluff. The room was beautiful and there are a lot of shared areas to look at the views around the property. There is a shared kitchen which is really well equipped other than that it doesn’t have a fridge. Couldn’t recommend it more

  • Situated a good distance away from Bocas Town and immediately next to beautiful beaches, this place is perfect for relaxation and adventure. We were able to access long walks weaving in and out of the jungle and beach. Plus, our hosts were incredibly helpful and welcoming!

  • So a Amazing Place to stay in Bocas. Its so Special cosy and the employees are very friendly. For us the playa Bluff is the best Beach on the Island Colon. You can‘t Go to swim there because of the Killer Waves But of you can surf its the Perfect Spot. Thx for this experience.

  • The large beach house is ideal for a few days to just relax and unwind. But surfing or day trips are not too short. The accommodation is very clean with stunning views from the terrace. The location is a bit out of the way, but with taxi and bus you can get to the center very well! All in all, very nice and certainly not the last stay!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Tesoro Escondido! Super nice, colorful and rustic guest house with great attention to detail and numerous corners and hammocks to relax. Very nice hosts and volunteers, super delicious and varied breakfast and dinner with vegetarian options. Great and helpful tips for trips and activities and the best: a lot of peace and noise from the waves :)))

    Stefanie2018-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stunning: be prepared for no AC and it’s a little far from food places, but the location is incredible for beaches and walking. Cooking there is really easy- the kitchen is well equipped and it’s so easy to have quiet/alone time. Highly recommend! Also, they serve breakfast and dinner at the place, and it is very worth it to eat there! Fantastic cooks and make great drinks as well

Are your dreams made of chocolate? Want to spot dolphins from your own private balcony as soon as you wake up? Go snorkeling, hike up the hill for amazing views, let the cacao forest enchant you or go paddling in a cayuco, a traditional wooden canoe made by the Ngöbe natives. Or get into a hammock & snooze like a sloth, or get out & spot some! At night, swim in the bioluminescent water, gaze at the countless stars or marvel at the sight of all the fireflies... Your next adventure begins here!
This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, and a unique chance to spot dolphins right from your balcony & to spot several sloths in the backyard. We have more than 10 sloths on our property all the time, so it will be easy to at least spot a few. The breezy sea cabin has hammocks downstairs to assist with your relaxing. This open area is not shared with other guests for added privacy. There is a shared platform about 30 feet away from your room where you can hang out with other guests, if there are any. A lockable staircase leads to your cabin. Upstairs you'll find a double high quality mattress with optional mosquito net & cotton bed linnen. There is a screened in relaxing area with view of the garden (and the sea). You also have a breezy private terrace on the other side from where you can enjoy the wonderful view over Dolphin Bay. The bathroom for this cabin is located on land, a few steps from the other end of the dock. There is an outdoor bamboo shower, a pretty outdoor sink on a wooden platform outside & a flush toilet inside. Note we have a 2nd flush toilet for workers/visitors/volunteers in the same building. We have an extra cabin by the sea that can be set up with 2 single beds if you want to bring your friends to double the fun. The extra cabin is conveniently located above the bathroom area. The extra cabin has a private staircase outside leading to the balcony with seaview. Just like the main cabin, this room has sea view on both sides of the cabin. It can be booked for 30 USD per person.
Discover a different side of Bocas del Toro in Dolphin Bay... Enjoy the tranquil waters on the seaside & explore the jungle in the back, whether you're an avid birder or just an adventurous traveler. Finca Montezuma, our cacao (& much more) farm, is a spectacular place for lovers of the outdoors thanks to the rather unique bioluminescent water, the fireflies, the non-lightpolluted sky full of stars, the wildlife & the birds... Our guests have access to the shared walking trails of the Finca Buena Vida community through the jungle or to a small lagoon where you can spot caymans. We have another property close to the lagoon, where our private trail will lead you up the hill so you can enjoy wonderful views over Dolphin Bay with its many mangrove islands. Sloths hang out all around the property. We also get visits from howler monkeys in the jungle right behind the main house & at night we get to see kinkajous. These are wild animals so of course they decide when they show up. My best advice is to just go & explore and take your time to observe! Birders will love this place. These are a few of the birds that have been spotted here: gold-hooded tanager, mealy amazon, collared aracari, montezuma oropendola, slaty-tailed trogon, keel-billed toucan,... It's also becoming a little botanical paradise with many varieties of tropical flowers & fruit trees in our own garden & the common area. Some examples are cashew trees, jackfruit trees, mamey sapote, soursop trees, fig trees, a cinnamon tree, vanilla orchids, rose apples, 4 types of passion flowers including the giant granadilla (passiflora quadrangularis), butterfly gingers, calla lilies,... Snorkeling fans can also get their kicks here, our favourite little mangrove island in Dolphin Bay has a truly magical underwater garden with giant starfish, coral in all colours of the rainbow, fish, rays & impressive growth on the mangrove roots. There is another snorkeling spot you can access from the shore, wearing water shoes, after a 15 minute walk through an old cacao forest. Dolphin Bay itself has year-round calm waters & has a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins that have their own set of unique genetics compared to other bottlenose dolphins. The dolphin watching activities can at times be disturbing to them as in high season many boats come to see them at the same time without respecting their boundaries, so if you wish to see dolphins without taking part in these activities, this is the perfect place to start as you can see them right from your balcony or the shared deck without harassing them. There are a few good restaurants in the neighbourhood, but most need to be accessed by boat unless you are in pretty good shape & want to go by kayak or cayuco. On the opening days of these restaurants we often offer our guests a ride free of charge. We'll be serving you breakfast, fresh juices, chocolate desserts in our Jungle Café at the main house as well, and Papito or Dormelinda can make you a delicious lunch or dinner. Papito opened "Papito's Caribbean Bar" in August 2019 on a neighbouring property. He serves ice cold beer for 1.25 USD, ceviche, soup, fried fish with patacones,... at very reasonable prices. We have created a walking trail that will bring you there in 10 minutes, and you can also ask Papito to drop you off at the dock.
  • Very friendly and peaceful place. It’s a great adventure to stay there

    Paulina2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the ultimate off-the-Grid ocean meets jungle experience!!! Dorien and her staff are kind and exceptional hosts and very good cooks. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and even my very picky 13-year-old daughter enjoyed the food! Papito was super kind and when I had a medical emergency was ready in a snap to help me get to a pharmacy off of the island for help. The chocolate farm is like something out of a storybook with beautiful trees and sloths and butterflies and a variety of other animals like howler monkeys and roosters and chickens and a couple of helpful dogs and a tricky cat that finds its way into the dining room! My daughter and a few other guests thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate farm tour and workshop and what my kid made was delicious!!! This is the perfect place for R&R. My girls stayed in the cabin overlooking the water and it was perfect. Bring a flashlight because you will need it to walk the property at night - even to the toilet- or if you decide to take a boat ride. Bug spray and sunscreen is also a MUST!! If you prefer the feel of “camping” over “glamping” this place is perfect for you, meaning your toes and fingers will get dirty, but the food, scenery, outdoor activities, kind hosts, weather variety, beautiful nature will cause you to love this side of heaven on earth. We stayed for four days and it was the perfect time for me and my younger daughter however my 16-year-old would have stayed there for a year as she loved the serene environment. We made some great memories there as a family and I’ll forever be grateful to Dorien, Bianka and Papito for making our stay a wonderful one!!!

  • One night stay with friends. The place is magic, far from everything but with the necessary comfort (delicious food and impeccable wifi). Ideal for those who want to get away from the noise and bustle of Bocas del Toro. We could see and hear nature at work: we saw two dolphins from our cabin on the water, bioluminescence before going to bed, a stingray during the night. We could admire the view and enjoy the sounds from the jungle (birds, insects, howler monkeys), a chance to reconnect with this rich nature. It is possible to explore the jungle alone but the best is to do it with a guide. For our part, Rogelio took us on a super tour during which we finally saw several sloths, red frogs and caimans. Dorien is very welcoming and good advice. Thank you for this unforgettable experience. Angeline & Melanie

  • We have fond memories of our stay in the cabin on the water. The place is conducive to rest and we enjoy it. The food is also excellent, and the rates are very fair. The only negative is the quality of the mattress, and dogs and cats are sometimes a little too present with customers. We shared it with Dorien. Remember that it is only possible to get around by boat, and that there are not too many choices of restaurants nearby. But the restoration of Dorien and Papito is perfect. A lot of activities are offered by Dorien and Papito but it remains a budget. We were also able to observe sloths and nice frogs.

    Marie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in the accommodation at Dorien and Papito. The accommodation is just a dream, the hammocks were great to relax in and in the morning we could even watch dolphins in the water. Dporien and Papito are great hosts. The food was great and the chocolate workshop was awesome. You have to make them when you are there. My friend stated that she is allergic to to sand flies. Be sure to cream yourself with coconut oil, which Dorien has provided for you. You'll have a lot of trouble with those annoying sand flies. We would come back anytime. Thanks again for your great hospitality :)

  • Highly recommend staying here!! It’s hard to describe how amazing Dorien and Papito’s place is. It’s unique, charming, and off the beaten path. Dorien’s chocolate tour is a must and the food is great as well. We kayaked, swam in the bioluminescent bay, saw sloths, and more. We didn’t do any other tours but I’m sure those would’ve been great as well and Dorien puts such thoughtful touches and her tips are spot on as well.

  • Absolutely breath taking and unforgettable. My only disappointment was that we where only able to stay one night due to our short trip. I would highly recommend Dorien and Papitos place to any fellow nature lovers. The bungalow is an experience, exactly as described and more (I wasn’t expecting electricity). Dorien and Papito gave us a ride to and from Almirante for an extremely reasonable price (other taxis quoted us 30$USD per person each way while D & P gave us a lift for 50$ USD round trip) we where met with charm and hospitality that instantly eased us into relaxation and a homey vibe. Dorien gave us a tour of of the chocolate farm and had such an extensive knowledge of not only chocolate making but also of the wildlife and plants. We where well fed at lunch and dinner and during our evening we where absolutely giddy as we hung out on the dock accompanied by their pup Blue. You could hear the evening chatter of the forest, the stars glowed, the water was like glass and sparkled from the bioluminescence. Gorgeous. Loved every minute.

    Dayna2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so beautiful. Absolutely calm and relaxing. Dorien answered super fast to all my questions. Unfortunately the weather was not so good but Dorien and Papito made the best out of it for us. In the farm you can see different plants and animals for example sloths. And in the morning we could so dolphins.

  • All good and as shown on the pictures. The space is huge and it can easily fit 4 ppl. With nice balcony where you can smoke.

  • Excellent location. Great attention.

  • Thomas was helpful with info. They changed the towels and emptied the trash a couple times in our week. Nice

    Nancy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The complete surfari department is an excellent option to meet mouths, to be able to enjoy excellent comforts and to have a good attention and costs much less than all the other options of that level, 100% recommended.

    Gonzalo2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very well located and the truth, very good for the price. The apartment I used was very spacious, clean and with the essentials to live and share with several people. In addition, Thomas is most attentive and relaxed. I highly recommend it

    Oris2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Surfari is a hostel 4 blocks from the pier Bocas del Toro, very close to all the necessary places on the island. Although it is a hostel it has private apartments that have everything you need for a good stay. A plus are the recommendations on the board, pay attention! Thomas is very kind. I will stay there again if I return to the island.

    Pablo2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • It is an excellent lodging option at a very comfortable price. The location is very close to the main restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Also, Thomas is a great host. I recommend them 100%.

Welcome to the longest dock in Saigon Bay! You can relax on your own private deck or second story balcony, taking in the incredible view. The sunsets off the end of the dock are simply jaw-dropping.  Daily guided excursions can depart directly from your over-the-water cabin or you may jump into your free Koko provided kayak and go exploring on your own.
The spacious cabins are built on pilings directly over the sea. The cabins are designed as open concept with soaring open beam ceilings and full staircase. They have fully equipped kitchens, refrigerator/freezers, gas ovens with a four burner stove, air conditioning and are plumbed with hot running water. Each cabin has one standard sized private bathroom with a shower. Plenty of drinking water is supplied at no cost. We also supply linens, towels and soap as you would expect from any hotel. The larger cabins have one queen size bed down stairs and another upstairs. The slightly smaller cabins have a twin bed on the first floor with a queen bed upstairs. There is a very good internet connection and a strong WiFi signal can be found throughout the property. We also have additional accommodations on shore. This is perfect for two couples traveling together. It covers the entire second floor of a large house and has a very large private balcony that overlooks the cabins, straight down our enormous dock and out to the sea beyond. Two large bedrooms, each with their own private bathrooms, are located at opposite ends of the house. In between the bedrooms, is a large kitchen and seating area.
The neighborhood of Saigon Bay is gritty, alive, friendly, and we are right in the middle of it. You will see children swimming off the nearby docks while their working parents come and go on their personal boats. Occasionally, dolphins can be seen as well as local natives paddling by in dugout canoes. You will hear laughter, music and chattering locals. You will also walk through a grimy neighborhood on uneven pavement, wet with tide water. This is not a veiled tourist area. But, it does offer an interesting cultural experience that is both safe and fun.
  • Excellent place, very clean and well located, beautiful views of the bay.

    Antonio2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house located directly at the sea. You can even see starfish. Lots of space and they even have a cleaning service. Definitely recommend it although the way to get there might not be to everyone’s liking. If you need something during the day there’s always someone there.

  • Beautiful house on stilts Exceptional view Clear water at the end of the dock Nice communication with Carolina

  • Great location, wonderful bungalow on Saigon Bay, worth the stay.. nice walk into town which I always enjoy or $1 taxi ride

  • Koko's place was exactly as described. Very clean and comfortable

    Shawn2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, clean, and comfortable cottage! Easy check in, lovely views, quiet at night. We greatly enjoyed our stay here! Be warned that they are a bit far from everything, and it’s not the most scenic mile-long walk, so expect to rent bikes or take taxis to get around.

    Suzanne2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cool spot away from the hustle of Main Street. We saw lots of starfish and fish right from the deck of the room. I would definitely stay again.

    Nathan2019-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place directly on the water ideal to swim and snorkel on the bay. Very calm place and near nearby services.

Location, location, location! This place is very conveniently located, very close to the center of town (the first restaurant and the best grocery shopping in the whole town is at less than 3 minutes’ walk) but in a rather calm area of the town, right over the water with astonishing sea views towards the far way islands and you can swim directly from your terrace. The best is to swim with the tide is coming in as the water is then the nicest. Please note that we are in town and that boats are sometime passing near by. Great location for surfers as well as boat can come and pick you up directly from our place to go surfing.
  • Great simple lodgings on the water. We loved being so close to town, very secure set up and a helpful front desk. Wonderful Indian restaurant just steps away. Convenient to have the front desk set up transport to and from the local airport. The ocean waves lapping the cabin were louder than expected, but earplugs solved the problem. Would recommend to friends.

    Jill2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to enjoy everything Bocas town has to offer. Very easy check in and the woman working the desk at the boat launch is lovely, speaks excellent English and is willing to help with any questions. We loved the deck off the apartment and the ability to jump right into the clear blue water so inviting. It was also very nice to have air conditioning in the bedroom. This space is nothing fancy but has the basic necessities and is very comfortable. We cooked breakfast every morning but ate out the rest of the time as there are many dining options in Bocas town. We really enjoyed our time in Bocas town and our stay in Michel's place. We look forward to returning soon.

    Joanne2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this apartment! Right on the water so it’s like living on your own aquarium and swimming/snorkelling off the balcony was awesome. Ran into a little problem and Leysi and Michel were there to help me out, which I appreciated very much. I would recommend this apartment, great place for the price.

    Brett2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment and amazing location! It was so clean and fit 3 people perfectly. The kitchen is perfect for making breakfasts and we loved being out on the balcony and swimming off the balcony too

    Ashleigh2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michel place was nice and the location was excellent being right on the edge of the main street in Bocas town. The view of the water and islands right from your balcony was truly amazing! Nelly was very helpful with tips and arranging details of my stay with them. The accommodations were very comfortable and everything you could want was provided.

    Gary2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Feels extra safe because of the doorman and the community door! Great tips and friendly help! You can literally jump into the carribean sea from the balcony! :D

  • The house of MIchel is ideally located, five minutes from the town and the taxi boats The house has a location towards Elmer sea, it is really beautiful or poser to dive from the balcony and watch the sunset. The house has all the comforts and is well equipped. Only some cleaning elements are missing to keep it clean daily. Anyway you can pay $ 10 for cleaning. They are all very attentive and kind and ready to offer recommendations

  • We ended our 2 week trip to Bocas with a couple of nights in the floating lodge which was a really unique experience. 2 nights for us was perfect to enjoy the quiet and seclusion although everywhere was just a boat ride with Eric away if you decided to venture out. Since it was $50 for a round trip to Bocas Town and $30 each way for pick up/drop off that could get a bit pricey so I'd probably say most people would enjoy this place best if they were done with Bocas Town and staying on the other islands or headed there afterwards. The included breakfast was very simple (jam and bread with a smoothie - one of the best smoothies I've ever had!), but you could add on some extra items (eggs, ham, etc) for more $ if needed. Prices in the store for beer and wine were very reasonable, and dinner was a fair price given the location of the property and Karine's cooking was great - really appreciated her accommodating to a vegetarian diet on request! Communication to contact them during our stay was through Whats App which we had some issues with on the first day since the wifi was not really working, but Eric made some router adjustments and everything was smooth after that on day 2. Karine is one of the sweetest hosts we have ever had and the entire property is very very interesting (ask Eric to try to find sloths for you - quick boat ride away!) The room was a fine temperature for sleeping with just the fans, bed was extremely comfortable and clean, fridge was great to have, and we did not mind that the showers are cold water ones. During the day was really great - we snorkeled right off the cabin, tried stand up paddle boarding, kayaked a little bit, and just relaxed and read off the deck. Once the sun is down it is totally dark and quiet - we had ordered dinner for 7:00 the first night thinking it would give us something to do that evening, but I'd probably recommend eating dinner while it's still a bit light out - there are a lot of very curious little lizards that come out to see what's on the menu and hang out in the light after dark (counted 17 at one point on the outdoor wall beside us!) This didn't bother us, but it was a more relaxed dinner for sure the next night when we ate with the sun still up and then just read our books afterwards. Was the perfect end to a great two weeks in Bocas when we were looking for some R&R, highly recommended!

  • Travelling two months through Costa Rica and Panama it was up to now our best place to stay and for us worth beeing star-rated dinners. Karine is an outstanding cook!!! Also the excursions with Eric were fantastic. Go there - it is a MUST

    Thomas2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Karine and Eric made their own paradise in the mangroves which they shared with us. We stayed in the floating lodge 8 nights and it was perfect! The lodge is well equipped and everything was very clean. Karine's cooking skills are amazing... We loved her food!!! The two were perfect hosts! With Eric we did a lot of tours with his boat and they were incredible like dolphins watching, seeing sloths, driving to Bocas, the cave, red frog beach etc. He is such a funny guy and had every day a new adventure for us! The love to their two dogs I could not hide after the first day. So special greetings to Buffy and Arena😘. Thank you Karine and Eric for the perfect end of our stay in Panama!

    Tanja2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the floating lodge was a real highlight of our holiday. Karine and Eric are excellent hosts and nothing seems too much for them. Eric took us out in the kayaks to see the sloths and in the boat to dolphin bay. Karine’s food was amazing and their house is beautiful! A truly unique stay and our only regret is that we wish we could have stayed longer!

    Lily2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place met all our expectations and then some. From the easy communication, to transport very early in the morning, food and then lodging—all were superb. Karine’s cooking is beyond words. Her fruit smoothies, fresh jams, and cocoa cake were among our favorites. We had a blast in the kayak searching for area sloths (finding 2 adults and a baby). Paul had fun fishing from the dock each night and I had a blast on the paddleboard. This is NOT your normal vacation. But if you are looking to escape the world and have a change of pace- this is for you.

    Jami2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection! We spent two nights - far too few nights - at Floating Lodge, and loved every second. Karine and Eric are perfect hosts, attending to every possible requirement and filling the space with so much beauty and charm. Their assistance with local knowledge was invaluable and the amenities they provided allowed us to make the most of the area during our stay. I can honestly say that this is THE GREATEST AIR BNB WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT. We will return and we highly recommend!

    Jennifer2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 6 unforgettable days with Karine and Eric. The two have built their little paradise, where they let us participate. Eric picked us up in Almirante and took us by boat to Floating Lodge. He showed us sloths and dolphins on excursions. Karine is a great hostess and excellent cook. We were looking forward to dinner every day. The sea at the lodge is usually very quiet and ideal for swimming as well as for excursions by SUP or kayak. Eric also drove us to Bocas Town one day and picked us up there. We then rented e-bikes and went to Bluff Beach, which was very worthwhile. If you want to spend a few days in peace away from streets, shops, people, noise, etc., is just right.

    Lorenz2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for hosting my friend and I. It was great meeting Dan and Lilly and we enjoyed Bastimentos especially thanks to their recommendations. Bastimentos is a bit less touristic than Isla Colone but that’s just what we were looking for. I highly recommend Dan’s place.

    Hannah2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • While on the island, we stayed in one of Dan’s bungalows. The bed was comfortable, accommodations were never in short supply, and the fact that Dan and his wife had so much knowledge and shared their Panamanian culture with us, really put the icing on the cake and made our stay that much more amazing! Really a great place. I definitely recommend this place to all!

  • My husband and I loved staying with Dan and Lily on our honeymoon trip to panama! Our room was right on the water. We were able to watch the sun set over the ocean from the comfort of our bed. Dan and Lily were kind and hospitable hosts and made us feel very welcome. We also enjoyed their friendly guard dogs :)

  • If you want to get off the grid for a bit and enjoy nature this is your place! The cabin is right on the shoreline! Fall asleep at night to the sound of the waves crashing! Great shared kitchen, comfy bed, 3 awesome dogs and Lily and Dan are super nice, welcoming and helpful! Would highly recommend!

There is a lot to do peddling, kanoeing, snorkling or swimming. Take good shoes to walk through the garden ( jungle). You won’t forget your stay once you have been here!

  • Nathylodge is a great place to stay. There a three big huts, with big windows and a lotta light. The view is awesome as they are on a hill; it's on the garden and the sea. As the windows cannot be opened it can get a bit hot in the night. There is one small hut - with one "window" (you can open a part of the wall - no screen) or the door. `It's way more smaller , darker, simple and small toilet/shower and no veranda. If you go the extra money for a big hut it is worth the upgrade. The food is great, but you have to know that you're kinda stuck on the property - only reachable by boat - and surrounded by jungle. So no shopping, restaurants etc. This means you have eat the meals provided (breakfast 10$, lunch around 15 and diner 14 without desert and starter and 25 including also drinks. The hosting family is very welcoming, Clarisse an excellent cook and everything is taking care of very quickly. I/ we definitely recommend the place if you like nature and quiet

  • It's really a piece of paradise. The location is perfect - away from Bocas town's hustle but close enough with a short boat ride to get grocery and explore other parts of Bocas del Toro. The water is crystal clear with so much to see and explore swimming, kayaking or SUP-boarding. The place is surrounded by water on all sides - so peaceful. The owner was quick to respond and easy to work with during booking. The property manager Kris and captain Fab provide outstanding services on site. We used Fab's water taxi service to access town and Starfish Beach (about 25 minute boat ride away). One thing we are glad we brought is bug spray for mosquitos and sand fleas. Just part of the experience staying in a water bungalow in this area.

    Joy2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bocas Villas, there are 4 bungalows on stilts absolutely incredible! Cleanliness, comfort and tranquility assured. At your feet a coral reef where you can admire rays and fish of all kinds. A few meters away there regularly pass dolphins. You are rocked by the rippling water with incredible views of the bay and the mountains in the distance. A kayak is at your disposal, the kitchen is fully equipped, hot water, king size bed very comfortable. To know: the only way to access housing is from Bocas Town by boat so provide additional dollars. Make your food shopping before because once arrived at the accommodation, it will not be easy to leave as you want. But when you look for the tranquility and the unique side of a dwelling in the water, this is where you need to be. Ingrid and her husband are also great hosts who are very responsive and will make your stay a memorable one.

    Corinne2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Not much to say but DO IT! Go and you will never regret! Upon arrival we were just laughing for a couple of hours in disbelief that we were in such paradise. We thought we were silly but then the next day we had neighbours arriving to one of the other houses and we could see them having the same reaction. It is just hard to beat! The owners are really nice and Sam, the guy running it, did all he could do to make out stay really nice. We brought enough food and drinks for our entire stay so we never ordered any food or drinks, but we had a great time snorkeling, SUP peddling, kayaking, fishing (trying to) etc. If you are looking for a place in the middle of everything and want to party every night, then this is not the place for you. In any other scenario, do not think twice and book it!

    Yury2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Unique place - you really have the best snorkel place directly off your terrace. The place is on isla colon, the water taxi gets you near town for around 15-20€ (eventually both ways) and a cab to the town costs another euro pp. The house is clean and cozy, the Interieur is nice and the bed is comfortable. The shower is good. The kitchen is cool and comes with a mixer and a good fridge and freezer. Buy your groceries at a smaller supermarket rather at than the isla colon supermarket if you want to save money. There seam to be no mosquitos but we could easily install a net and felt saver that way and left the window open as it doesn't cool down during the night. The place is a highlight as it is SO close to the reef and amazing to snorkel. Absolute plus that the hosts provide you with snorkel gear, kayak and sup.

    Nike2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The snorkeling and kayaking off the house is incredible! I really can't stress enough that this is a highlight that makes this a unique villa. My boyfriend and I cooked dinner each night and bought some candles to eat outside and play cards, or just chat and enjoy the tranquility that Ingrid and Phil maintained while still having many comforts. Be aware this is an area that is about 20 minutes by boat. You will see in other feedback similar notes- so as long as you are into relaxing at these amazing villas and not into the nightly party you will love it! Plus, Ingrid and Phil are great hosts and were very accommodating to help sort out travel into and from town with the help of Manuel, who is the site manager (I believe this is his title). What a beautiful place they offer to all of us- thanks for this experience, Ingrid and Phil!

This property is 5 minute taxi ride or 15 minute bike ride to the Bocas town center. It's a 10 minute walk to the most consistent surf breaks on the island and a very charming beach bar/restaurant/lounge called Paki Point where you can watch the surfers. There is also a very charming brick-oven style take-away pizza restaurant called Ciao Pizza directly across the street.
  • A stunning architectural space and a beautiful seascape. Great to come back to.

  • The house is wonderful, with a privileged view and with a sunrise and sunset of movies. Their hammocks and swing on their terrace are very entertaining for children. The location is central about 7min from the town, which means that you are not in the middle of the noise, but also not so far away. It has a very entertaining place like 2min called skully's and a pizzeria that opens during the evenings. It is very safe and calm.

    Cristian2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly amazing! Would come back anytime! Loved the design and ambiance with the sound of the waves, the Skully’s resto bar not too far, host really quick to respond, place really clean. You can bike to Bocas town and enjoy the laid back atmosphere.

  • Casa Communal is a haven. I’d come back to stay here over and over again. It’s far enough away from Bocas Town that you get a real sense of ease and relaxation but close enough to hop in a quick cab ride for dinner. Incredible stay! Thanks!

    Bryan2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lit and spacious patio with a ocean shore view. Host was very hospitable and helped coordinate the taxi from the port.

  • Just perfect! A gorgeous house with beautiful views. We loved it!

    Talia2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • So grateful we were able to book this place for a few nights while staying in Bocas. This home is beautiful and very private. Perfect for relaxing but also a great location if you want to explore. The full functional kitchen and open layout making cooking all the more fun. The view is magical and you’re an easy commute to the center of town. Jeaninne and the staff were all super helpful and extremely friendly! I highly recommend staying here! Perfect for groups of friends, couples trips or anyone on a surf trip. Don’t even think twice just book it. Thanks again, will be back to stay here next time around.

Enjoy your own tropical garden terrace at the Purple House - Over The Water Rentals. Your home away from home in paradise. Views of the bay can be enjoyed from the communal sunset deck or wind down on yr covered garden deck with couch, dining table & that all important hammock. We have snorkel gear, kayaks, SUP's to use free & Bikes to rent. Close to town/airport in a safe yet rustic local neighborhood. 2 double aircon bedrooms, hot water shower, handmade organic soap, equipped kitchen & wifi.
The Purple House 1 is alongside Purple House 2 and are a mirror of each other. Together they can be opened up into one large home. Each is rented separately or you can rent them both together. They share an outdoor balcony that is divided by plants to allow each to have it's own outdoor space. Purple House One has two bedrooms upstairs with the master bedroom having a walk in wardrobe. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning and fans. Downstairs you will find the kitchen with dining table for indoor eating. There is also a pantry for food, luggage and surfboard storage and a large sized bathroom with hot water shower. To the rear of the property is a tropical garden whilst to the front is a very large covered relaxation deck built over the water with ample dining and lounging space within a tropical garden setting. The Purple houses do not have unobstructed views of the bay as they are located behind the Orange house, but there are communal view decks open to our guests to relax on, suntan, spend time in the hammocks or just enjoy the sunsets and take in the views. The kitchen is equipped with a large fridge/freezer and a 4 burner stove and oven. Large double doors lead out onto the outside terrace which has a dining table and chairs, a large lounger as well as the all important hammocks. The large outdoor deck is covered by a high roof for protection from the sun whilst allowing for the cool breezes to pass through. We also have multiple kayaks on the property which are available for guests to make use of free of charge. We have recently got a bunch of Standup Paddle Boards for our guests to use for free and Bicycles too which can be rented at half price our usual rate. We can also provide snorkeling gear (free) if you want to kayak to the reefs or mangroves around the bay and snorkel a bit. And if you want to learn to surf, we have surfboards for rent too. We also have a communal deck which our guests can use which offers spectacular views across the bay to the mountains of the mainland. If Purple House One is booked up, check the dates for Purple House Two. We also have the Orange House which is located to the front of the Purple houses and has unobstructed views. All houses are closely linked by walkways and enjoy private and communal spaces on the property. House Rules:- 1. Please help us with separating and recycling of garbage in order to reduce our footprint. 2. Please no outside guests on the property without permission so that all our guests can relax knowing that the space is safe for them and we know who is inside of our property. 3. No entertaining and loud music after 10pm at night. Our property is not for parties or gatherings due to the houses being close to each other in the neighborhood. We would love for you to come and relax and enjoy the tranquility of the bay with us.
Saigon Bay is located just 15-20 minutes walk from town or a quick $1 taxi ride. This is a local third world neighbourhood, so is colorful, rustic, authentic, and a lot less touristy and as a result, not as well kept as resort locations around the islands. The neighborhood is friendly and safe. If you want to experience the island as the locals do, then this is the location for you. Due to the garbage issue on the islands and neighborhood, we ask all our guests to help us recycle in order to reduce our own personal footprint. There is a local supermarket a few minutes walk from the house where basics can be purchased. We can provide drinking water on the property for a small charge.
  • Wonderful place, super nice hosts Jeanne and Steve who are willing to take time to offer advice, arrange trips and put boats in and out for you. The houses are all really lovely, well equipped and with stylish furnishings. Orange being really private and the Purple Houses splitting a very large lovely deck with some privacy afforded by a mid deck planter and fence. The neighbourhood is authentic, feels safe and it's easy to get to town or to nearby grocery stores. This is one of those unusual interesting places that don't come by that often!

  • This is a well appointed, unique space! Great hosts. More amenities than we expected (paddle boards, bikes, kayaks). We enjoyed the location on the water of Saigon Bay. We hope to return.

  • The house is very well maintained and equipped with all comforts. The host is exceptionally available to give information both on the stay at the house and on what to do on the island. It has any leisure equipment .... in this structure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. The icing on the pontoon cake on which to enjoy a splendid sunset. Jeanne num 1

  • We throughly enjoyed our stay at Jeanne’s place. The outside area was so nice to hang out in with the hammock and the cool breeze. Jeanne greeted us upon arrival and gave a very detailed explanation of the property. She was extremely helpful in answering all of our questions during our entire stay. Highly recommended!!

Nomad Tree Lodge isn’t for everyone… Off-grid terrain and climbing 60 stairs to your cabin high in the RAINforest jungle canopy isn’t for everyone. Water conservation and eco conscious traveling isn’t for everyone. Having the island's best reef break within walking distance isn’t for everyone. It's for anyone looking to escape the 4 walls of a hotel room and experience something truly unique. Nomad Tree Lodge is for the wanderers, the seekers; is it for you? www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
Your private 130 sq ft cabin, with 30 sq ft porch is situated on an amazing rainforest hillside connected to the rest of the lodge via rope bridges and elevated pathways. Share a large bathroom with only one other cabin. The bathroom is close enough for comfort, but far enough for privacy. Each shared bathroom includes a private open air shower situated 16ft high up in the trees. All cabins are fully furnished with linens and towels. Please, remember to read the entire listing this includes the neighborhood and location section. Nomad is a unique and awesome experience, but understanding our location will help you decide if it's right for you! Other cabin types: www.airbnb.com/p/nomadtreelodge
  • Amanda's and Asher's place is the place to be on Bocas! I had the best time there with the greatest people! The place and the tree cabins are very clean and so perfectly placed in the jungle. Monkeys and slots are around and jumping through the trees and a lot of birds as well. The pool is really refreshing after a long day hike. Playa Bluff is just a nice 40 minute walk away and there is good surf around just few minutes away on the reef break. The common kitchen has everything you need to prepare a good meal. At night the bar was very nice to hang out with everyone, I had great conversations with everyone who stayed there and the delicious drinks (best Pina Colada)! I recommend everyone to stay at Nomad tree Lodge, it's definitely worth the money, best place on Bocas, good vibe and good people!

  • My stay at Nomad was absolutely OUTSTANDING. From the accommodations to the hospitality, it couldn’t have been more perfect! With a kitchen that contains everything one needs, to comfortable beds and excellent bathroom and terrace. Have I mentioned the location is incredible? You have the sound of the ocean and jungle life in arms reach every day you wake up. Amanda & Asher are the most thought, gracious hosts. Thank you for such a memorable week(s). I will be back and anyone traveling to Bocas- this will be the place I recommend over and over again! :)

  • An exceptional experience. One of the greatest accommodations I had in all Middle America. If you love nature, surfing and nice company, definitely stop by!

    Alex2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! A warm welcoming at the beginning, a very clean treehouse, the amazing banana bread and very good coffee! Thanks for that experience.

    Katja2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to Amanda & Asher, but also to Nicole & Lily. Our stay was just perfect and everything was better than expected. We met cool people, the cabins were just magical and we couldn’t hope for a better hospitality. We also enjoyed that its a eco-friendly place. Food was amazing too and it was easy to get to town with cabs. The restaurants and places around Nomad were very cool too, and we enjoyed yoga with Ashley and Nicole! Thanks again for everything guys. We didnt want to leave and we will hopefully come back one day. :)

  • Amanda is a very sweet host. She gave us always good advice and were intersted in our plans for the day. The atmosphere is in general very chilled and friendly also with the other guests. I am fascinated about the fact that the whole water system works with rain water. Cool experience in the jungle! :-)

Our hotel, Los Balcones over the Sea, is located over the calm waters of Isla Carenero, close to town yet far enough away to relax and feel free from the chaos. This room is on the second floor and has a private patio. We are within walking distance to a market, restaurants, beaches and surf breaks, but you can also easily hail a water taxi from our dock to avoid town altogether. We also have a large shared space with a dock for swimming, with kayaks available for rent.
It should be noted that while the neighborhood adjacent is safe to walk through, it is an indigenous village where people live in a simple manner (likely, very different from the travelers who stay with us at the hotel). Please be respectful in understanding that Panama is a developing country and poverty is still present in many areas, although this should not impact your stay in any negative manner:)
  • Jessy and Lesley did a great job in hosting us at their beautiful hotel directly at the waterfront. Nice breakfast and fresh coffee every morning and a quick chat with them what the day will bring. They even have kayaks you can rent. Very friendly and more then very recommended to everyone to enjoy their stay at Bocas.

    Marco2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The room was lovely and Jerry & Lesley were the perfect hosts. The location is great - just a 2 min boat taxi from Bocas town, but quiet enough to enjoy a relaxing visit. They have a couple of kayaks which they let us hire for free which we can fully recommend and Jerry also arranged a tour for us which was great fun. Breakfast was delicious - I can fully recommend the pancakes!

    Sophia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Los Balcones is in a great location, a 1$ water taxi ride to about anywhere! The room was large and clean with great A/C (very important). The hosts were awesome, we had breakfast there one morning and it was very good!

    Brittany2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Jerry are amazing hosts! Check in was easy, they even gave us an early check in and helped us with baggage storage on our last day! They provided us with tips and suggestions for the local area and they were a pleasure having around! The space itself was in a great location and very clean and stylish. I would recommend staying here for anyone that wants to enjoy their time in Bocas. Once again, this place was amazing.

The AC works great, the fridge is super cold, the hot water is perfect, and anything you could need is within a 15 minute walk. Honestly, I was expecting a place much worse because it was so cheap! Our hosts were always quick to respond and give us tips and help us out.

  • A small but cozy piece, away from the noise, quiet area. A $ 1 taxi ride to get to downtown Bocas. We didn't know Dennis, but Leandro, a man of few words. The apartment has everything it takes to have a good time, and eat at home.

  • It is a quiet and beautiful place, very close to the city, a quiet beach, a shop to buy the necessary things and the bus stop. Taxis always go by to get around and the best thing of all is that it is impeccable, because of the type of lodging there is always cultural exchange and there are kittens to caress. I really loved this place and I plan to return. I recommend it!

Every home and business in Bluff Beach is "off the grid", meaning that all of our water comes from the rain and all of our electricity comes from the sun, so you can feel great about being a responsible and eco-friendly tourist.
Bluff Beach is a protected nature reserve and turtle nesting beach. There are several small B&B's in the neighborhood and 3 restaurant-bars within walking distance of Abracabra. The nearest stores are located in town where you can bring provisions like beverages, snacks and any food you plan to prepare in the custom kitchen. We provide drinking water and the basics- olive and sunflower oil, salt, pepper, coffee and sugar as well as locally made organic soap and shampoo.
  • Just beautiful!

  • Unforgettable trip and so sad to leave. We could not have asked for a more relaxing, comfortable, and peaceful environment in which to spend 10 days. Walks on the beach, cribbage on the front porch, a vacation dog (Chester❤️) and the absolute genuine kindness of Martin (We met Nicole day 1 but dealt mainly with Martin). Martin always had the best suggestions for things to do and places to dine. We took advantage of the solitary walks to La Piscina to swim in tranquil waters, took a water taxi to Red Frog beach and walked to Polo beach where again, we were the only ones there with the unimaginable views. At Martin’s suggestion we hired a boat for the day to take us snorkeling around the Zapatilla islands. It was remarkable. Captain Pante was a fun guide and the coral and fish we saw, full of color and beauty. The restaurants close by are all good but our favorite was The Hummingbird. Don’t miss the Saturday night Argentinian BBQ as it’s some of the best eats there. The house itself is very cozy with all the amenities one needs. The bed is huge and comfortable as well. We spent most of our time on the front porch. Our favorite hours were mostly passed listening to the sounds of the birds, the surf, and the howler monkeys just beyond the casita. Abracadabra has an almost dreamlike quality to it. We plan on returning with our sons as soon as possible.

  • Abracadabra is a stylish and very welcome place. Also a very suitable place for the eco-traveler, because really everything is being done to minimize consumption, but still keep it comfortable. Martin and Nicole are ready for you at any time and can help you with anything! This is definitely recommended

  • We had a fantastic three night stay at Nicole and Martin’s place and strongly recommend it! Martin made us feel so very welcome throughout our stay - we appreciated knowing that he was on hand but that we had a lovely space to ourselves. The hospitality went above and beyond - Martin even managed to find us a sloth in the trees when we mentioned that we hadn’t been able to spot one. The little touches in the cabin were great and the mosaic shower is amazing. We had dinner at the nearby Hummingbird one night and enjoyed exploring the area and listening to the waves. The bed was exceptionally comfortable (and huge!) and the kitchen and living space is really generous. We would love to return one day!

  • This place appealed to us as we had 3 weeks in the area and wanted a variety of places. After spending time in the city & Bocas town we chose this spot foe a week. The location was great, and cab driver new of Martin and the area. We loved the larger cabin with jungle vibes. Heard and saw all sorts of creatures and even had a snake (a small boa) visited the deck! We loved the easy beach access and watching surfers, even a pro was in the area! We hiked easily to the blue lagoon twice and were pleased to see sloths, monkeys and fancy birds along the way! Martin also provided an early check in/ later check out! He also happily set up the bbq and gave us additional condiments to cook with. The kitchen had everything we needed, with lots of drinking water. I further enjoyed the fresh cut tropical flowers, funky art and local soaps! Kept our showers short , but they were hot& fantastic! The beautiful mosaic made the shower unique with large rain faucet and soft towels! There was some construction next door, but all noises ended by 10 pm nightly... except the cool jungle sounds & crashing waves from yonder ! Highly recommend this place!

  • Martin was a pleasure to deal with. He assisted us with ferry service to Bacos and with Taxi. Also provided us with local tips. Great location away from the bustle of Boca Town.

    Mike2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The space is new and spacious. Our hosts were welcoming and really helped us when we accidentally left some clothes. They also provided great tips on a local restaurant and the welcome guide to the area was Extensive. We definitely recommend this site.

  • Staying at Martin and Nicole’s was the best option for us as our last days in this beautiful country! The hosts were very positive people and really nice to talk to! The house has everything you need for a wonderful stay in a relatively unspoilt corner of Bocas. We cooked a lot at home, and all utensils were there for it. Beautiful beach right in front of the house 3 min away by foot with great surfing waves, nice trails in nature too! You can hear monkeys, birds, waves, that’s what I call paradise!! I just wished I could have stayed longer to be honest!

  • The place is amazing! Great spot on Bastimentos far away from the parties in Bocas up in the hills with a nice jungle garden and animals like sloths and red frogs. The room was nice and clean. As well as the chill out area with hammocks is really nice with stunning sea view. Simon is a great host always helpful and available for any questions. As well as we got support with planning of day tours in the region. I could really recommend this place and would come back again! Thanks for everything and the lovely stay :-)

Look no further, Las Casitas has it all! The Villa is located on top of the beach, steps from the Caribbean Sea, and with its own private pool! Close to Bocas Town for the convenience and far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the jungle gardens! Each of the 2 rooms is in its own separate house on the opposite end of the pool! Each is beautifully decorated and equipped with A/C (for heat relief), NETFLIX, WIFI, and COMPLIMENTARY USE OF BIKES AND KAYAKS!
Las Casitas is located right the beach. Walk down the 4 steps from your pool patio to the beach and sink your toes into the sand. Head out for a stroll on the beach or relax in the warm Caribbean Sea. The peaceful sound of the waves washing ashore will lull you to sleep at night. Our private gated property offers you your very own pool and patio area to lounge in the sun poolside, or relax in our overstuffed sectionals under the covered lanai of each suite at Las Casitas. Our built-in BBQ poolside kitchen area has a gas grill, a 2 burner electric cooktop, large bar sink and a full set of pots and pans, grillware and cooking utensils. The attached custom built dining table has comfortable seating for up to 6 people. If you wish to dine out, a variety of some of the highest rated restaurants in Panama are nearby or try a meal catered by one of our wonderful local chefs. Each suite at Las Casitas can sleep 2 - 3. Visit the Botanical Gardens, or enjoy our world-class surfing, only a 5-minute bike ride away. For a stress-free vacation, weekly maid service is provided. Options are available for daily maid service, laundry service, private meals catered to you, and private boat tours for an additional charge. You won't find anything else like this in all of Panama. We can't wait to have you here.
There is no better place to be in Bocas. We are 5 minutes from town. Close enough for you to easily come and go as you please. But far enough to enjoy the privacy you came here for. You'll be able to head into town for dinner, enjoy a little nightlife and then escape back to your beachfront retreat. We're just far enough away to avoid the hassle of staying in town and just close enough to avoid the hassle of being secluded. This is one of the things that makes us truly unique amongst other accommodations in Bocas.
  • Nothing but the best ...it is all around amazing

    Michelle2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We can't recommend this place enough! The 2 casitas were perfect for our 2 small families to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Caribbean. You won't find another place like it - CLEAN, private pool and steps to private beach access, all the comforts you'd want for a vacation including recommendations for where to get good food and supplies in town. Anytime we had a question, Angie was quick to respond with a great local recommendation. We also highly recommend taking a private boat tour to the surrounding islands, which they were happy to set up for us. We got picked up right on the beach in front of our bedrooms and were out for a day of boating and sightseeing - just perfect. We had a sick toddler on this trip and we couldn't have asked for a better spot to be "stuck", cozy, safe, and comfortable resting space where we could all relax to the sound of the lapping Caribbean just feet away from the bedroom window. If we're ever back in Bocas we'll be sure to stay here again!

  • We had a great time here. The host were friendly and great at helping us out with any needs we had.

  • We went to Las Casitas with 5 girls from Germany and had an amazing stay! The house, Pool and Beach were even better than on the pictures and sparkling clean. Steve gave us very useful tips when we arrived and answered every question we had. The bikes were useful to get to the city centre (about 10 min by bike). Would recommend the place to everyone who wants to have an relaxed stay at Bocas. Though it’s easy and quick to get to the city centre with all bars and restaurants.

    Anna2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! Wow just wow. Check in was easy. The property was stunning. A private gated little slice of the jungle on the beach. The rooms were simple but well equipped. The view straight out of a travel magazine. Standard amenities and then some. Bikes, kayaks and snorkeling gear huge bonus! Comfortable beds, plenty of towels and soap. The host went above and beyond when I forgot my favorite bathing suit and got it back to me. Top notch. Definitely stay here.

    Katie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic choice for a stay near Bocas Town! Impeccably clean and well kept and the ocean is right out the back door. If you need snacks or a cold drink you can walk a few hundred meters down the beach to a hotel restaurant that’s built out over the water. Close enough to town to bike or just stand out front and hail a cab. Steve, the proprietor, was super helpful and friendly too!

    Nick2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This villa has the perfect location right on the beach, a bit from town but yet close to everything. We had a very nice stay.

One of our two overwater bungalows (see Sea Monkey Overwater Bungalow 1) at the edge of Old Bank town on Isla Bastimentos with a collapsible 12x8 foot front wall, 180 degree ocean views from the bed and giant over water deck with over water hammock. The bungalow features a king size bed and twin daybed with luxury linens, a spacious hot water shower, handmade local toiletries, and a mini-fridge. Gourmet breakfast at our restaurant next door is included.
The bungalow is 20' by 30' with giant sliding doors that collapse to create a 12' wide opening to the sea. There are also two additional twin daybeds for use as seating or for additional guests. The deck is 20' by 8' and features an overwater hammock, deck chairs, and lights for nighttime use. A spacious hot water shower sits at the center of the bathroom with counters and fixtures made from local hardwoods and driftwood.
  • What a fantastic vacation! My husband and I had a great time exploring as much of Bocas Del Toro as possible. Stacy and the staff at Sea Monkey were great, food was amazing, and our boat driver Lorenzo was fantastic! We highly recommend staying at the Sea Monkey! No complaints from us. We will be back!

  • I was at the Sea Monkey with two friends and we had such a great Time! The Bungalow on the water is just a dream! We saw dolphins and rays just from the veranda. The breakfast ist gread, aswell as the rest of the food you can get there. I'll come back for sure!

    Lisa2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was great waking up every morning to the sound of the waves crashing and the view of the calm ocean. It was raining one morning and the rain was soothing and relaxing. The bungalow is very spacious, we were three adults and were very comfortable. We would go out and swim during the sun sets and relax in the hammock. Stacy was extremely helpful and responsive. She was very accommodating which made our stay stress-free. The staff are all friendly as well. We had breakfast and dinner and were not disappointed, the Thai curry was my favorite. Bastimentos is super laid back compared to Bocas. There are a few restaurants in town, even if you decide to only eat at sea monkey, I highly recommend taking a stroll and checking out the town. It has so much character and the locals are super friendly. Getting to Bocas is a quick trip, you can grab a boat from Sea Monkey’s dock or a quick 5 minute walk in town and walk in to one of the towns dock. We highly recommend.

    Stephanie2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stacy place is amazing. The best place to rest and enjoy nature

    Laura2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't spend better our vacations. Bastimentos is the vest island to really connect to nature and locals. The bungalows os perfect, you wake up and you can immediately have a glance on the sea. The breakfast is absolutely perfect and the staff is very friendly and welcoming, they will give you the best and most honest tips from the island or tours. Highly recommend and definitely would like to come back to Sea Monkey one day!

This Sea Front Studio (one Queen Size bed, A/C, kitchen corner, terrace with access to the water), is built over the water and offers attractive sea views. It is very conveniently close to everything in Bocas but in a calmer part of the town
The apartments are recent and completely furnished and fully equipped (linen, towels, kitchen ware, TV. and high speed internet, WIFI) and the building is secured with an electronic alarm system against fire and robbery.
Please note that we are in town and that boats are sometime passing near by. The M&M’s Residencias is located next to the Al Natural Resort Bocas Landing, toward the far left end of main street when you get out of a water taxi, just after the big right curve and the hotel Bahia, along the water line. It is the first two storey wooden building, color natural. There are signs and photos of Al Natural Resort and the M&M's Residencias on the house. There, the street is usually really quiet. The apartment is also turned toward the water and, thanks to the view and the openess, you do can forget easily that you in the town.
  • We had a great time at this appartment. You can go swimming all the time, jump into the water and enjoy breakfast with an incredible view over the sea and the beautiful mountains. The kitchen is great to cook on your own if you are on a budget :) If not there are some great restaurants close by. In general, the place is just great. Close to the bar street and therefore very Safe but still really quite. You reach the boat taxi points in just a few minutes which is great for trips to the other islands. The Check in was great as Well as the communication during our stay. Finally, it was just a great experience and we would absolutely recommend it:)

    Friedrich2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Michel, we enjoyed our stay at your place. The location is great, everything nearby, yet quiet. We also enjoyed, loved and swam directly from the terrace in the studio. Laysi was great and very helpful. I already recommended your place to several of my friends. Will definitely come back.

    Dragoljub2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely studio right on the water. Hammock and outdoor seating perfect for enjoying the sea and the amazing view. Great location, walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants etc. Leysi was a great host and very helpful in organizing transport. Note taxis in Bocas are generally ‘collectivas’ so they pick up multiple passengers and are very cheap ($1 or $2). Just flag them down as they go by, regardless of whether they have a passenger. But have small change on you to pay.

    Sascha2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Michel’s. Location couldn’t be better. You are right down the road from super gourmet, great restaurants, local stores, tours, water taxis, and so on. Ultimo Refugio right next door has a great happy hour and some delicious food. Our favorite thing was just swimming right off of your own porch. And the diving board makes it that much more fun! Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. Leysi was very helpful and called us a cab to our next destination. We will stay here again on future trips to Bocas! Enjoy!

    Pat2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful apartment! Had everything I needed. Dive into the water right from your balcony - that's a morning exercise :)

    Andrey2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • The room in the listing was not available when I arrived, so I was upgraded to a master suite on the second floor. It was huge and very nice with a large outdoor space overlooking the water.

    Ken2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I spent almost three weeks in this studio. It was great for us. We loved the covered deck over the water and basically lived out there. Swimming off the dock, reading, and relaxing watching the boats go by. It’s dry even in the rain. The hammock is a nice touch. This is the best part about staying here. Also it’s pretty quiet for Bocas. No loud discos near by and the street is pretty quiet. Also being on the back over the water dulls the sounds. Friday there’s a Jazz band a few doors down but it’s nice music and ends at a reasonable hour. It’s a very basic room but has everything you need if you aren’t expecting more than advertised. We were able to cook simple meals and have coffee. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is fine and there’s reliable hot water! You should know there’s no door to the bathroom though it’s behind the wall and private. Just saying. If you want more space, try to book the one-bedroom next to this one. It has a table in the kitchen as well. But we were really comfortable in the studio. Leysi the on-site manager is great. She arranged for us to have a water dispenser so we could avoid buying lots of plastic bottles. When the internet went down one day she called and got it back up as soon as possible. And she can arrange for your laundry to be done which is a bonus. They provide TP and garbage bags even for long stays so you don’t have to buy your own which is also a bonus.

    Marcy2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • I don't even know where to start! This place is just incredible. Your room is literally right on top of the ocean. Outside your own private balcony you can see starfish and lots of fish. You can watch all the boats go by. The room is perfect. Bed is great. Pillows are great. There is A/C. There is hot water. All cooking supplies you need. Even has gas stove. You are just minutes away from all the restaurants and central downtown area. Right across the building is a place to buy water and other goods. But you are far enough away to not be part of the hustle and bustle. I would definitely stay here again. If you have the chance to stay here I would 100% recommend it. The home is absolutely beautiful. I feel like the pictures in the listing just didn't quite do it justice. It's so much better in person. The owner Michel is also very cool and has a great story about how he got started. Thank you for hosting me! What a great experience.

Casa Apolo is located on Isla Bastimentos, one of the largest islands of Bocas del Toro. We are located in the center of provisions. We offer an ideal apartment for three people, private bathroom and only the kitchen is shared with two guests. The room with double bed and bathroom. A common area with a single bed, table and chairs. We offer a view of the bay of Bastimentos. Surrounded by vegetation and variety of birds. The apartment is comfortable, ideal for three people. Only share the kitchen with two guests, but you can have lunch in your apartment privately. The front area where the terrace is wide with good space to sit and have breakfast there if you like. We also have a hand washing area for guests to wash their clothes.
The town of Bastimentos has less than 300 inhabitants. It is one of the islands belonging to the Bocas del Toro archipelago. It has a great variety of flora and fauna. It has an incredible view of the bay, facing Isla Solarte and diagonal to mountains and volcanoes. Tropical climate. The island has some small restaurants. It has Wizards beach 15 minutes walking down the jungle path. And beach and park red Frog 15 minutes by boat. Also Polo beach.
  • Everything great. The pictures are a bit older but so far everything is fine.

  • The apartment is right in town, convenient, close to the dock. exactly as pictured. The downstairs studio is all tiled and spacious front porch; upstairs apartment has its own kitchen and eating area; separate bedroom, balcony with distant view of the water. I think it’s construction, design and location are tops for Bastimentos. Leo is an excellent host. congenial, available and accommodating.

  • The best hosts, answer quickly, help and advise you, the apartment is close to everything and it only remains to tell Leo and Rocio Pura Master life from Costa Rica

  • We really enjoyed our time in Bocas. Leo and Rocio's place was wonderful. Not on the main island so very peaceful. Only a short boat ride to main island, which was always fun. The room was very clean and having A/C was a big plus! Our neighbors were great as well. Communication was easy and quick. All in all an excellent stay!

  • Clarisse and her family were very welcoming and kind to my girlfriend and I. Staying on Isla San Cristóbal was a very unique experience, surrounded by forest, animals (sloths, howler monkey, variety of birds, insects) and water. Clarisse and her family have a beautiful place on the island. Clarisse also made us some delicious food. Just keep in mind the extra expenses for private transportation to Isla Colon due to high prices in gas and additional expenses from living on an island. Have an open mind and you will really enjoy your stay!

  • Exceptional place on a lonely island. Perfekt for relaxing. Also the food by Clarisse is great and should definitely be tasted. We really enjoyed our stay not at last because of the nice and very welcoming hosts and their cute daughter. There is an extra fee for transportation.

  • Clarisse's place is amazing! If you're looking for a quiet place surrounded by beautiful nature and the Caribbean Sea you're definitely right here. Clarisse and her family are really helpful and great hosts, the food is amazing, and the views from the bungalows are breathtaking. Another plus is that you can do stand-up paddling, snorkeling and kayaking for free! I highly recommend this place and would definitely come back!

  • I have to say that staying at Clarisse's place in Bocas was by far one of the best AIRBNB experiences I've ever had. Everything was just outstanding, completely hassle free and it completely exceeded our expectations. Clarisse was very flexible, accommodating, responsive, extremely attentive; overall just a great host. From our very clean and well equipped cabin, to the delicious food and the rest of the amenities, everything was amazing. I will recommend 150% and look forward to another stay in the future.

  • It is a heavenly place, far from the hustle and bustle, very well designed, with an excellent view, and the family owner is very special ... super recommended to disconnect from the world and connect to nature

  • I used Airbnb a lot of times. But that place is the best i‘ve ever been. You arrive in a perfect paradise. A quiet beautiful island with an Airbnb-place, they took so much love in. The room was totally clean and lovely with a great oceanview. You see mantarays, dolfins and a lot of other cute animals from your window. The food is so delicous. The pool is amazing. The cocktails are the best i‘ve ever had. And the Family is so lovely. If you need a Place to get really relaxed, go to that Place. We enjoyed that area and the unique service.

  • Nathylodge is a paradise. Clarisse and his family managed to make the place a perfect place to relax and enjoy the island to the fullest. She is the most hospitable and dedicated person, it shows in every detail of the place. Our stay on the island was amazing, we moved to another airbnb after two nights with her and immediately miss their hospitality.

Are you looking for a nice place in the Caribbean? Welcome to Tio Tom's Guesthouse Our family-styled guesthouse is built into a beautiful lagoon and is located in the center of the village Old Bank on Isla Bastimentos.
  • Erin and Ryan were lovely and welcoming hosts. The hostel is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the local vibes of Bocas. The hammocks by the dock and sunset were priceless. Thank you!

    Sara2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place with room right on the water in the center of town on Isla Bastimentos. Ryan was a friendly guy and offered great local tips on things to do

    Ryan2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a nice clean private place to spend your days on Bastimentos Island. The nicest thing here is the hammock directly over the water where I ended up spend most of my time while on the Island. Nice fish dinner can be enjoyed when they got the fresh fish from local fishermen.

    Amy2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! The hammocks next to the water are perfect for relaxing. I'm in love - > lucky the dog is sooooi cute

    Julia2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice simple hut on the water, easy transport to surrounding islands. We had a good stay here, thank you.

    Anette2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation! Great price and diving school directly in the same house.

    Daniel2019-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot, just by the port. The place is basic but beautiful. Not for everyone, but if your looking for a striped back little room on the water, and don’t mind a little rough around the edges, book! Can get a bit loud in the evenings as there is a bar next door, so maybe not for those looking to chill in the room to much. The hammocks our front are perfect, with views for sun rise and sunset.

    Matthew2019-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Tom and Dammi are friendly and helpful hosts plus Dammi made a delicious fish for us one night and there are good food options available. The hammocks are great! One thing I didn't realise about coming to Bastimentos is that to get around the islands and surf spots you have to pay quite a lot for water taxis which can really add up..something to bear in mind.

Being in the turtle cabina is like being on a boat, but without the motion! Rest or sleep to the sound of the ocean just steps below!
Please be aware that this cabina is the closest to the sea, on a small cliff, and if swell is high, the noise from crashing waves is very loud.
Four miles away from town, you are just steps away from surfing some of the best waves in Panama, bird-watching, beach-combing, snorkeling hidden coves, and watching ancient sea turtle lay their eggs... And so much more to discover.
  • After arriving on the overnight bus from Panama City I was desperate to freshen up (6.30 am) after calling them around 8 I was told my room would be ready (5hrs ahead of checkin time) thanks so much.place is in a gorgeous spot & the staff ( particularly Aussie Tom & his highly addictive mojitos)were efficient & polite generally lovely.would go back in a heartbeat

  • Great stay in paradise

    Thomas2018-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the grounds at Tesoro Escondito with monkeys and sloths around during our stay. It was a short walk to bluff beach-a nice beach with not too many tourists. The reception staff was very helpful to arrange taxis and offer suggestions about the area as needed. The reception/dining area had a great view and offered tasty breakfast, dinner, and drinks. Our place had a great view although loud at night with the crashing waves (we used earplugs) - we stayed in the Turtle Cabina. We would stay there again for sure!
