A self-catering apartment on a working sheep farm. Situated 1hr 15mins from Dublin, 10mins off the N4. Experience the peace and tranquility of the countryside within easy access of the coasts and cities of Ireland.
An inviting, two storey apartment with two bedrooms complete with underfloor heating Wellies at the ready on reception for those ready to explore the farm!
  • Fred is a very amiable host and the freshly baked bread was a nice touch on arrival. The location is peaceful, with the new lambs arriving. The space will easily accommodate four adults. While it is out of any urban area, there are walks nearby that would suit a family with young children and it is only a short drive to the nearby attractions and shopping. Overall a nice relaxing spot with a good host, and for me it represented good value for the price.

    Chris2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for a secluded getaway. Really friendly hosts, a nice forest nearby for exploring (bring your wellies and old clothes!) and the kids will love the sheep farm and the sheepdogs too. The under floor heating makes the cabin really cosy.

    Alistair2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful two weeks on Barradrum farm in an architecturally interesting barn conversion. Generous, comfortable and relaxing space. Fred is a genial, helpful and informative host, not to mention a very busy sheep farmer. The location in Street is best of both worlds, truly in the country yet very convenient due to its proximity to the N4. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

    Simon2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was incredible! Fred was a awesome host! The warm Irish greeting and warm Irish soda bread was a perfect touch! My family and I felt welcomed and at home. We will be staying with home again! I recommend this place 100% thanks Fred you’re awesome!

  • It is a big house in countryside. Just under Hill of Uisneach. It is pity, that it was closed this part of the year. The host is nice young lady with small son. So prepare that there are toys everywhere. I think it is ideal for families. We missed the host in the morning, but she prepared breakfast (cereal with milk and tea) for us.

Mt Temple is a beautiful little well kept village with a bar, restaurant, shop, church, an impressive 18 hole golf course & a driving range. (We have golf sticks, in all sizes if needed) Our home is 10min walk to all of these. 5 mins drive away, there is a lovely 30min walk along the bog and through the woods where i bring my dogs everyday. Athlone is a picturesque town on the banks of the River Shannon .. Athlone castle is 900yrs old and has a wonderful position on the river in the centre of town. There is a great interactive museum which is definitly worth a visit, as is the free art Gallery. Luan Gallery opened up in 2013 overlooking the river and showcases some great Irish and local art. The charming left bank area has some great restaurant ( many of which we can recommend) and pubs with lots of live traditional Irish music and Ireland's oldest bar, Seans.

  • this has to be one of the loveliest and coziest places i ever stayed in airbnb. elsie is such a wonderful and kind woman, she is always willing to help and being sure you are having a nice time. this place is in little village 1 hour and 30mins(90 kms aprox) away from dublin by car, and 2hours aprox away from the cliffs of moher (which is a must in ireland) so the location is perfect to go to the city and explore little towns and castles, landscapes around are just amazing and peaceful. if you’re planning to visit ireland and explore this is the perfect place. thank you elsie for everything!

  • We have stayed in a lot of air b & bs and we felt Elsie was one of the nicest hosts we have met! We arrived late (which was not an issue) on a chilly September evening and Elsie had a gorgeous fire on for us with candles lit and even an electric blanket turned on! She had left us milk and jam and butter, fruit cake and two beautiful eggs from her own hens (which were gorgeous) she even droped in homemade brown bread! The cottage is cosy and warm with everything you need including lots of towels, shampoo, cooking basics etc. The parking is just in front of the cottage. There is a TV with DVD player, there is no WiFi and no signal but that didn't bother us as we just had a lovely relaxing few nights! Elsie was so lovely and unobtrusive but gave us a lovely warm welcome and is right next door if you need anything!

    Niamh2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for your hospitality. You are an amazing host. Thank you for the lovely brown bread. Brought back memories of when I was a kid and my mum would bake fresh bread! I would recommend staying with you to any quest. You feel like you’re staying in your own oasis of calm. Elsie makes a sure you feel at home! Thank you

Tranquil, rural setting between Multyfarnham and Bunbrosna just off the N4. Spacious, light filled family home. Every modern convenience yet retaining traditional homely feel. Near Wilson's Hospital School. 10 to 12 min to Mullingar General Hospital. 60 min to Dublin Airport. Und wir sprechen auch Deutsch! P.S. Part of our household is our affectionate dog Poldi, who mainly lives outside, but is allowed in the hall and the kitchen. If you throw her a stick, you will have a friend for life!
  • Anke is a wonderful host. She’s an amazing person inside out. I loved the two weeks I spent in her home. Her kindness and generosity as well as her thoughtfulness made my trip extra pleasant. Her house is very clean, warm and homely. She made me feel like I was at home and never for once did I feel like a guest. Anke has such a kind spirit. She went out of her way to supported me each and everyday I spent in her home, for which I am so grateful. Thank you for taking a chance on me ❤️ And for being the kindest person I’ve met in a long time. Looking forward to staying at your beautiful home again. ❤️

  • Rosemary is a wonderful host, and this little cabin in a hidden treasure, wonderfully clean and spotless and very relaxing. We had an event to attend but honestly wanted to spend all our time here. We will definitely return to take some timeout from busy lives. We also got to take home some wonderful honey and fresh produce from Rosemary's garden, which is just fantastic. Eileen

  • Amazing place, so peaceful and cute. Can not recommend enough!

    Bailey2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely host, a beautiful cabin in a fabulous countryside location. To be able to sit out on the patio and enjoy breakfast whilst listening to the birds was so tranquil, then at night to sit out again and watch the shooting stars and the milky way snuggled up in a blanket was a pure delight. We were offered the use of pushbikes which were great fun (it had been a while since I was on one!) Even though we booked at the very last minute, we were welcomed half an hour later.

    Liz2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, little cabin tucked away in the countryside with a field of cows as your neighbours. Great place to come relax and have a bbq! Flowers, bees and honey. Rosemary is a great host and made us feel most welcome.

Our home is warm and welcoming. We have lots of open space in the home and some nice seating areas that guests can sit and read or listen to music. We are located in the heart of Ireland. We have wonderful amenities in our locality; the Cross of Durrow Abbey; Lockes Distillery; Tullamore Dew Heritage Center and a vibrant rural town with lots of music and friendly people who embrace visitors to our area. GAA sports are the main interests of the family.
  • Deirdre was a wonderfully friendly host who went out of her way to help out. I would highly recommend her place to anyone who wants to get a 'Tullamore experience'.

    Suranga2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The nicest most welcoming family you could ever meet. Without doubt a home away from home. I can see why Deirdre and her family are so well liked and popular within this site. You couldn’t ask for better hosts. Great location. Nice and quiet and very clean. Couldn’t do enough for you and they were always nice to chat to at the end of the night. I would 100 Percent recommend staying here

    Con2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Deirdre is certainly the best host you can find! She and her family are so unbelievably (hospitably) friendly and helpful and by their kind nature you feel right as part of the family. Although the accommodation is a bit out of the way of the city, it can not be surpassed in terms of cosiness and authentic and atmospheric surroundings. The family loves their land and the area they live in, and they can tell you a lot of exciting things and make great recommendations for trips. My room, as well as the rooms with communal use were clean and warm enough. And even if you happen to be dissatisfied with something as a guest, the family would go out of their way to make the stay more enjoyable for you. I had a really great stay and would recommend to anyone to do this experience too!

  • We stayed with John and Mary for 2 nights. They were marvelous hosts, checking in with us regularly to make sure we were all set. They even hung our rain-jackets up to dry overnight on a particularly rainy day. The food and fellowship was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and got our days off on the right foot. Dinners in the pub were a treat as well. 5- stars all around!

  • Cosy, warm, spotlessly clean and snug. Great example of a Tiny House. Very relaxing time, thanks Bernie

  • What a treat! We had a amazing 2 night stay and wish we could of stayed longer. Bernie has done a fantastic job in creating a cosy space and we felt instantly at home! There were lots of lovely touches- including fresh flowers, cake and soda bread. It’s the perfect place for a romantic getaway to switch off from it all. The location was very peaceful and quiet. The hut was beautifully presented and had all you would need from a lovely warm shower to plenty of kitchen supplies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay- we can’t wait to come back 😊

    Katie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cosy and relaxing space and Bernie is the perfect host. Everything you could need is there with additional thoughtful touches. Bernie had left us homemade brownies which where delicious. With board games and a Bluetooth radio/speaker in the Shepard’s hut you can stay entertained while hiding out from the irish weather.

    Arianne2020-02-16T00:00:00Z

    Olivia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Great location, clean, homely and the perfect place to get away from the city for a few nights. We will definitely be returning

    Johnny2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The attention to detail was second to none, and it’s true what previous visitors have said about it being comparable to 4/5 star hotels, phenomenal from such a small place. Homemade mince pies, bread, jam and eggs make a really nice addition to any stay, but the cherry on top was the small bottle of Prosecco Feargal so kindly dropped off. It really allowed us to ring the new year in style. Everything is so well thought out in Brookland Meadows and interior design is so modern, while also having many nods to the past providing a really comforting fusion of new and old. We cant wait to fit in another opportunity to stay again. In the meantime we will definitely be spreading the word about Brookland Meadows. Thank you so much.

    Garry2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A genuine delight! You will wish you could live there forever. It's perfectly sized, with all you can ever need. A cute kitchen area where we could cook a full breakfast and dinner with all the pots and cooking appliances provided and an amazing shower (always a plus)! Bernie was very informative and extremely quick to respond. If I could rate it higher, I would.

The prices reflect this. There are magnificent views of the countryside. Breakfast of toast, milk, cereal, tea or coffee included. Internet included. Room with twin beds includes en-suite bathroom. All other rooms have access to shared full bathroom.
The house is occupied by myself and Mary so we are here to ensure you can resolve any issues and to have your breakfast served !
Central to all parts of Ireland there is plenty to explore in the midlands.
  • Tom and mary were excellent hosts. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Very clean house. They told us about the area and things to do around there. Made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. Would definitely reccomend to stay there.

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay with Tom and Mary. Their home is lovely and so comfortable, and they are warm and engaging hosts. We arrived after 9:30 in the evening from our travels and they were very welcoming despite the late hour, even giving my elderly mother in law a cup of tea. We were a group five, including two children 10 and 13, and all of us enjoyed their company and home. The beds were very comfortable and the house was spotless and modern. This is a great location to stop if you are near Athlone--quiet and peaceful in a smaller village. We were on our way from Mayo to Dublin and it was a perfect stay. My only advice would be to arrive before dark. We found it hard to follow their directions since there is no lighting on the roads and the signs are small and the landmarks hard to decifer at night.

  • Tom and Mary were really marvellous hosts and entertained us with interesting stories during breakfast. From the beginning they have been really nice and welcoming. One of us is allergic to dogs and they were really thoughtful about meeting his needs about it. Regarding the communication they were also truly helpful and gave us clear advices for the road trip. Terrific experience!

    Alberto2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • A house out of the way but well maintained and with all the comforts. The owners, available and personable, with their stories, anecdotes (but still not intrusive) gave us the feeling of being at home. Pampered with a typical Irish breakfast, I highly recommend it to anyone who ventures around this fantastic land.

The property would be best described as newly refurbished warm and friendly atmosphere. The bedroom is clean and cosy and is dedicated for Airbnb guests.

Only a stroll to beautiful Lough Ennell with lakeshore walk with swans, try not to miss a chance to see the hundreds starlings as they swarm before dusk - an amazing sight! The 2 bedrooms are spacious and comfortable in unit 1 apartment. Highly recommended.

Situated on a quiet, remote site but within 4 miles of the nearest town, Ballymahon, and 12 miles from Athlone. The house has a modern feel to it having been constructed 10 years ago with plenty of space and most mod cons. Privacy is restricted to guest's own room as my wife and I are the only permanent occupants and will be using all of the facilities as well. Guests can choose a configuration of 1 double bed or 1/2 single beds.
  • Beautiful house set in rolling countryside - I was working nearby so the location was perfect for me. Really spacious room, very comfortable and sparkling clean. Communication was great and had no trouble finding the house or coming and going. Have already booked in to stay again - highly recommend!

  • We were privileged to stay in this wonderful place. We received a warm welcome, despite arriving hours later than planned. The property is huge and filled with character. John had thoughtfully provided all initial provisions. It is ideally situated, beside a lake and private wood. The autumn colours in the drive are stunning in early November.

  • I'll be back as soon as I can - for fishing trip or lovely family weekend

    Jerome2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • You can’t beat the location for views and a walk about around the lake and pastures. We stayed in the Annex area and the downstairs entertainment room is very large and comfortable with a toilet, the bedroom upstairs overlooking the front of the house is large, bed is on the hard side for myself, pillows are feathered down, no closet, nice large bathroom with walk in shower. I was comfortable here. The kitchen was adequate with cloths washer and a rack for air drying cloths. Small refrigerator, microwave was decent, no coffee pot but they did have a hot water pot, basic condiments, dishwasher if needed, large table and chairs. Can’t speak for the bedrooms on the cottage side or shower since we stayed in the Annex area of the house. Very quiet and peaceful area!

    Michelle2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to relax in the countryside. Beautiful lake where fishing is possible with beautiful walks. House and guests of high quality. You can go there with your eyes closed!

  • We had a fabulous relaxing stay here. It is located right on the lake in a beautiful setting, it is attached to the main house but on the other side so plenty of space and you wouldn't think there is anyone for miles. Will definitely be back!

Cozy bright and warm studio apartment. Self catering or B&B (breakfast with a little notice 12.50 ). On 1.4 acres of gardens in our lovely village of Mount Temple. 4km from the the Old Rail Trail Greenway & Moate & the M7, 11km from Athlone. A unique eclectic & rustic space with lots of personal touches. It is NOT a new Ikea clad space. Comfortable bed with feather duvet and pillows I also offer an Irish baking class, booked through Airbnb https://www.airbnb.ie/experiences/1333260?source=p2
Your own cosy apt on 1.4acres of gardens was designed and decorated by Gael. It has a wonderfully eclectic and cosy ambience that is unique to this B&B. The apt is open plan, bright and airy with one very comfortable double bed. The kitchenette is fully kitted out for self catering with a fridge/freezer, hob, an oven, microwave and coffee machine. I also have another apartment upstairs for 2 to 3 people https://airbnb.com/h/cozy-country-style-loft-apartment-in-rural-mount-temple-village
Mt Temple is a beautiful little well kept village with a bar, restaurant, shop, church, an impressive 18 hole golf course & a driving range. (We have golf sticks, in all sizes if needed) Our home is 10min walk to all of these. The charming Motte & Bailey Restaurant is open Thursday - Sunday and a 5 mins stroll. The Old Rail Trail ..Mulingar to Athlone Greenway This is a ‘must’ cycle for anyone who likes getting out on their bike. Start at one of the many entry points (the nearest is 3kms) and for the next 40km you’re in biking heaven. This is a dedicated cycle path that follows the old rail track under arched bridges, through a tunnel and past beautiful countryside all the way to Athlone. With lots of entry and exit points, you can hop on and off to explore the villages and attractions along the way. The charming left bank area has some great restaurants ( many of which we can recommend) and pubs with lots of live traditional Irish music and Ireland's oldest bar, Seans.

The studio was very well kitted with appliances and even the tea and coffee were top quality. And the welfimunh committee (the two dogs, Oscar and Zoe) were very friendly. I would stay here again without hesitation.

She was always available to supply information on points of interest in and around Mullingar as well as offering to drive or pick up at the train station or drop off in town to shop or eat. A beautiful room with the most comfortable bed. I would surely stop in again if back in Mullingar and highly recommend this place.

  • Unfortunately we couldn't stay long in the house of Marie because we had to leave in the middle of the night to catch our plane. Nevertheless, it was very comfortable, clean and the both Marie and her husband were very friendly, although the chat was very short. It is a 25 minute walk into town, which is okay. We would definitely recommend to stay there.

The apt. is slap bang in the middle of town. Athlone town is slap bang in the middle of Ireland. Built on the banks of the river Shannon. Great for boating and fishing holidays. It's an hour and a half drive-from Dublin via the M4 and M6. Athlone has the oldest pub in the world, Sean's Bar, dating back to the 9th Century where you can hear traditional Irish music every night.

  • Perfect, quiet place in a beautiful, private setting. Jacinta was very accommodating and responsive, even through the holiday season. We loved the natural surroundings and kids loved traipsing through the woods, yet we were close to anywhere we wanted to drive around Ireland. Great central location and very hospitable host. We’ll be back!

  • Beautiful setting and the perfect place for a quiet get away. We had everything we needed for cooking, entertainment and the lake and forest walks were great. Close by to Multyfarham ( we had a fab dinner in Weirs) and Mullingar is only a short drive ( has some nice shops). Jacinta was lovely and make sure we had everything we needed.

  • Such a beautiful place to relax. It’s in a very private area. Nice walks around the barn and beautiful lake. Jacinta is a marvelous host. Friendly, talkative and gave us a few good tips on what to do as well as a lovely basket of food. Highly recommended!

  • Loved this quirky cosy cottage. more than enough space for 5 adults. Much bigger than it looks from the street. The outside area and garden are huge. Location is so central and we had great food in both Tyrrellspass castle and across the road in Browns on the Green. And a few good pints of Guinness in Willies pub, just up the street. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • It's an amazing, special and cozy house. The communication and check-in was uncomplicated. The host was so lovely and made a fire before we arrived, so it was cosy warm.

  • I booked this house for my family to stay in, I did not see the house but I was told that Davan was very friendly and welcoming when they checked in and had lit a fire for them. I was also told that the house was cosy and a good size for 7 people to stay in. Before arrival they moved some beds around for us so that my family was accommodated in different rooms which was helpful, everyone slept well! The local village had all the amenities they needed during their stay.
