Places to stay in Cuba
When you arrive at the Adobe Round Casita, you know you have reached your destination! Guest access to the camper is separate from the main house for added privacy. This luxury camper is a perfect secret hideaway off the beaten path to relax and enjoy spectacular mountain views. Minutes away from Santa Fe National Forest hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and trail riding. Come to Cuba and stay with us!
We are centrally-located to popular and lesser-known attractions such as Chaco Canyon, Ghost Ranch, Jemez Springs, and so many more. Just 90 minutes from Albuquerque SunPort and accessible from May through December. For special events or make your own intimate gathering. We strive to offer high quality accommodations with personal service at an affordable price.
Very secluded, you can't see neighbors. Six acres of trees. Very private. The Cuba area is a great place to visit, offering archeological, geological, wildlife, recreation, and scenic views. The San Pedro Parks Wilderness, San Gregorio Lake, El Valdo Reservoir, Abiquiu Dam, Cabezon Peak, Bluebird Mesa, Nogales Cliff House and Fenton Lake are all easily accessible. As a Continental Divide Trail Gateway Community, popular stopover for visitors to Chaco Canyon, Four Corners, Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, Santa Fe National Forest, Valle Caldera, Jemez Mountain Trail Scenic Byway, and home to the Sandoval County Fair, there is a great deal of potential for outdoor recreation.
  • Very hospitable and friendly host and great value!

  • Great trailer, made me want to buy a trailer for my family. Thank you for the great stay.

  • Our stay at Karlene’s was magical. I’ve never stayed in an RV before...this one had EVERYTHING to make a stay comfortable and cosy. Karlene shared lots of great ideas about local attractions and as a home base for our adventures in Chaco Canyon...the location just outside of Cuba, NM was ideal. We’ve stayed in quite a few Airbnb’s over the years and I have to say that Karlene and Mike were the most welcoming and gracious hosts we’ve ever experienced. The location is magical...piñon, juniper and cottonwoods surround the gorgeous and unusual round adobe main house...views are awe inspiring and the quiet is sublime. The RV and adobe studio space are nestled close by and are totally equipped for comfort and ease of living while you explore this beautiful location. This is a special place lived in and cared for by special people. You won’t be disappointed. We’ll come back! Diana and Bill Sahr

  • Karlene is a great hostess and the place has magnificent views.. it was spotlessly clean and all-in-all a thoroughly wonderful stay.

    Lois2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Plan to be really wowed about this beautiful space. Very comfortable and beautifully set. Nightime stars are amazing.

    Sonja2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Karlene's place is sparkling clean and amply out-fit. The bed and bedding are very comfortable. Temperature control is superb. We did not have the chance to use the fully equipped kitchen other than making a pot of coffee. Bathroom and shower are adequate. Living room is homey and has the best view. The place is very easy to find, thanks to Karlene's detailed instruction and the visible sign by the road side. We arrived late at night and yet we had no trouble finding it and checking in. We only communicated with Karlene via Airbnb message. Because it is a trailer not an ordinary house, some appliances/switches/devices are operated differently from those in a conventional house. In most cases, the location of switches are labelled and operational procedures are explained in writing. However, in some other cases, I had to search hard, i.e. the light switch for the shower and the living room, or never figured out , i.e. cords of window blinds.

  • This was amazing. Beautiful view, very comfortable. Close to downtown Cuba. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A quiet mountain rustic cabin retreat with a river just 300 yards away. We welcome everyone from all walks of life. We love well behaved pets and children. The cabin is a place to unwind and unplug, CELL PHONE service is unreliable and internet access is limited. Come and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We are just a short drive to Jemez Springs, Hummingbird Music Camp and lots of hiking trails. The snow is amazing this year come and go skiing or snowshoeing!
Cabin on the River is an old school rustic cabin. It has modern conveniences like propane heat, air conditioning and a cute well stocked kitchenette while still feeling like an old hunting cabin. AWD is highly recommended in the winter because our road has several hills and can be difficult to climb after a snowstorm.
We live in a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic. Our county maintained road is a loop and a great place to take a stroll if you like hills. Our property has lots of trees and privacy with a stream running along one border. Cell phone service is limited.
  • Peace serenity great hospitality

  • I really enjoyed Aryanna’s place. We only stayed one night but it was clean, roomy, and it was very private. The views are nice too. Aryanna was very kind and responsive as well. Her instructions were clear and easy. I would definitely recommend her place to anyone.

  • We travelled to New Mexico to visit Chaco Canyon. This house was exactly what we were looking for: quiet, secluded but easy to find. The house was very clean and warm upon our arrival. We were able to use some groceries that were already in the house and that made it even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Aryanna’s house!

This apartment is the main floor of a genuine log cabin with unobstructed views of Redondo Peak and Cat Mesa. The space is clean, cozy and blissfully quiet. Over 500 square feet of private space & a wrap-around redwood deck are dedicated to hospitality on this upper level of the house. Two bedrooms and pull-out sofa (3 queen beds), full bath & custom kitchen ensure everyone has plenty of elbow room. There is a steep incline for 3/4 mile on a dirt road. You may need 4WD in snow or ice.
This home has a forced hot air heating system fired by propane; guests control the thermostat. The cooking stove is a new electric glass-top with a full oven. All of our cleaning supplies are non-toxic and earth-friendly. We also provide botanical, salon-quality personal care products for use during your stay. We ask that guests please be kind to our septic system. We provide wifi and unlimited long-distance domestic calls on the landline. No smoking inside, but there is a fire-safe ashtray on the deck for your convenience. We keep a private apartment with a separate driveway & entrance downstairs. That unit is either occupied by our immediate family or a caretaker in our absence. Please note this is rural New Mexico. There is only so fast our dual internet services are going to work (DSL & satellite). Your cell phone reception, if any, will be poor. There is no TV. The cabin is less than a mile off the highway. Once you leave the highway, the roads are steep and not paved. You will need four-wheel-drive if there is any kind of snow or ice. A log cabin on dirt roads in the high desert gets dusty daily. We thoroughly clean between each guest, but a little bit of dust can appear quickly. Please know this is part of the charm of country living.
There are just a few dozen homes tucked into this mountainside development. Our neighborhood is extremely safe and quiet. This is a perfect space for a romantic long weekend, launch pad for outdoor adventures, rustic yet comfy vacation, easy walks, long naps, writer's retreat, self-care, meditation or just a low-key family get-away.
  • Very comfortable accommodations in a great location with a beautiful view.

    Steven2020-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • It’s so amazing. We are definitely come back and rent this place again! 💜

    Erika2020-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • The views from the deck and living room windows are stunning. The cozy cabin had comfy beds and pillows, and everything is clean. The wifi worked well, the living room is super comfortable. The kitchen was perfectly clean and the great cookware made meal prep so easy (I always worry about this at AirBnBs because it varies so much). Margie is a gem - so accommodating and easy to communicate with and her home is lovely. We will definitely stay here again!

    Anita2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a haven this was — almost like a treehouse sitting at the picnic table on the deck up there in the mountains. Comfy couch also with a view, easy kitchen for meals. Loved it.

    Jane2020-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you were looking for a peaceful and cozy getaway, whether it is with family or just the two of you, We highly recommend Margie’s cabin. Margie’s cabin extremely clean, cozy and inviting. Margie was extremely kind and thoughtful. We look forward to going back again. It is worth every penny and affordable. With all the craziness going on in the world we needed to just escape and celebrate life togetherness, family and my birthday Margie’s cabin was the perfect spot to do it. Highly recommend!!💗💗

His and her sinks in the private on-suite. WiFi, land line, direct TV. We are in the mountains so internet and WiFi are stronger in certain areas.

  • Connie was a great host. Quick to respond to my questions and very accommodating with my ETA timing issues. Very responsive

    Angie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Connie was a great host! She let us know everything we needed to know before we got there and the directions were very clear. The place itself was gorgeous, you can tell they’ve put a lot of thought and effort into making it comfortable. Not to mention the absolutely incredible view 😍 my husband and I could have sat at the window the entire stay and been content! Wifi was a bit spotty but it’s the trade off you get for everything else!

    Ellen2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Connie's place is a beautiful little hideaway in the mountains. We used it as a base to explore Chaco Canyon. It would also be great for hiking in the mountains during the summer. Connie was a very helpful host and gave us tips on where to eat in town. One note is that the wifi is not very strong in the guest suite. Not an issue for us - Connie was super nice and let us sit downstairs to use the internet. But if your travel plans involve heavy internet use, this may not be the place for you.

    Lauryn2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Connie and Ramon were delightful people and it was a joy to stay with them on our adventure to New Mexico. The space we occupied was a private suite nested upstairs from the main home. It was a spacious area with various amenities such as a microwave and refrigerator for use along with cutlery and space to hang your jackets. The bedroom was separated from the living area, a standard tub size bathroom with double sinks and space heater for the winter months. There is two TV and two fireplaces which added a nice touch to our stay, not to mentioned a large window overlooking the majestic beauty of the sunrise and sunset of the land of enchantment. It was easy to book, excellent communication, hospitable people and we definitely will stay again should we venture back to the area.

    Amie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Manzano Manor has a view that is INCREDIBLE!! The hosts are incredibly sweet and friendly. We had a fantastic overnight stay.

A spacious but cozy cottage nestled among the ponderosa and piñon pines. This mountain retreat offers expansive views and deck space. Borders on Santa Fe National forest and Poleo Creek. Relax in this special getaway... read, hike, nap, stargaze. This cottage is an architectural gem - think "tiny living," with intelligent design. 30 min from beautiful Abiquiu Lake & Georgia O'keefe country. Many activities await the adventurous-at-heart: Hike Pedernal, SUP and mountain bike to name a few :)
This is one of two cottages on this property... you can rent one or both. The other cottage is also listed on Airbnb: "The Treehouse cottage at Poleo Creek near Abiquiu". Part of the deck space is shared space between the cottages (at times...the other cottage might be occupied while you are there). Remember this is a clothing optional facility...although you might not choose to go without textiles... your neighbors might. We are on the North side of the Jemez Mountains, close to Abiquiu lake and San Pedro park wilderness. This is a remote location. The nearest grocery store or restaurant is 40 miles away. There is a wonderful general store, "Bode's" in Abiquiu, that has everything you might need including groceries, gas, and a small cafe. Be sure to bring food for your stay. The cottage has a full kitchen. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen futon up the ladder in the loft. This ENTIRE PROPERTY (inside and out) is SMOKE FREE. This includes e-cigarettes and any other form of smoking or vaping. No exceptions.
The cottage is oriented to the east on an acre of land...so we always have beautiful sunrises. There is a dirt road behind our home that affords access to the San Pedro Wilderness which can get busy on the weekends. Otherwise this is a quiet, serene property. The night sky is amazing for star gazing.
  • This sweet cabin is excellent for those wanting to get away from civilization and be surrounded by nature. It was really comfortable for me and my sons.

  • I’ve been staying in Airbnb for many years all over the world. This is my favorite. Mikes place is amazing. Inside and out is perfect for us. So close to some amazing back country trails. Come prepared with groceries but know that Bodes in abiquiu has whatever you need. The space is private quiet and peaceful. We visited in early November and the wood stove keep us cozy. The loft is special and we enjoyed evenings of reading and board games. We lived it so much we changed our travel plans to stay longer! I can’t recommend it enough. I know we all say this but - we will be back!

The apartment over the garage is conveniently located just off the Jemez Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway, where you can enjoy the many outside adventures that await you in this beautiful area. The 300 square foot apartment is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and friendly furry friends. The decor is simple, modern, and clean. Comfortably fits two adults and a young child.
The apartment is built above our garage with its own private entrance, as pictured in one of the photos. Inside you’ll find a cozy queen size bed in the modest bedroom, with a lamp for reading. A ¾ bath with a shower is connected to the bedroom. The kitchen area contains a full size refrigerator and oven equipped with all the cookware necessary to cook a homemade meal. The cabinets are filled with drinking glasses, plates, bowls and utensils. The coffee bar is always fully stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cider. In the living area sits a small loveseat and chair for lounging. The love seat pulls out to make a twin sized bed. There are heaters throughout the space. Wifi is provided as well as a cell phone booster. Verizon customers should have service if the internet and electricity is operational. Because we are in a rural area, power and phone service can go down from time to time. Our guys at Jemez Mountain Electric and Windstream will work around the clock in all elements to get their services up and running, but before you book, know that it’s always a possibility that this can happen. A Netflix account is available on the TV, but we currently do not have any local TV stations. Not handicap accessible
Whether you are in town for business or pleasure, the Jemez Mountains has something for everyone with its endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Explore some of the many hiking and biking trails throughout the area, or soak in one of the Natural Mineral Springs throughout the valley. There are Hot springs both on public and private land. Explore the nearby Valle Caldera or the Jemez Monument. Fish close by Fenton Lake, or the many streams. Be sure to check with Amanda’s Country Store website where Ray updates the latest fishing and stocking report. You can also find weather and road reports there. Distance from the Apartment over the Garage in LaCueva to: Jemez Springs 9 miles Fenton Lake.........9 miles Los Alamos........30 miles Santa Fe.............63 miles Albuquerque......68 miles Cuba...................37 miles
  • Misty’s apartment is super cute and in an awesome location. A yummy pizza place is around the corner, along with a general store. Amazing hikes to natural hot springs are just down the road. The apartment is pretty small, but it worked perfectly for the two of us. Everything in the kitchen was well stocked, with extra perks like fresh eggs and purified water. Misty was very responsive ahead of time, but gave us privacy once we arrived. I loved meeting the goats and checking out the nearby river. My dog was very happy to run around the yard. We hope to come back again next time we visit Jemez Springs!!

Visit the startling beauty of the plateaus above Lake Abiquiu in northern New Mexico. Stardance provides a secluded experience for travelers, artists, fishermen, birdwatchers, stargazers, and more. Stardance sits above the upper Rio Chama canyons on 30 acres of trails and undisturbed natural terrain.
Stardance Lodge's Moon Casita is perfect for singles, couples, and families. It has a full tub and shower, kitchen, radiant floor heat, and a kiva fireplace.
Stardance sits below the Pedernal mountain which was featured prominently in many Georgia O'Keefe works. Many of the canyon views from Stardance trails are subjects of O'Keefe paintings. The Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu O'Keefe homes are 30 minutes from Stardance. Enjoy zero light pollution at night at Stardance, hence the name, perfect for stargazing.
  • This is a tranquil, peaceful destination to retreat to. The accommodations were comfortable, homey and attractive. The grounds are a blast to explore. There’s a canyon behind the home that you can climb down or simply sit above and stare off into the distance. It’s very isolated and quiet, so you can really become introspective and not feel distracted, especially due to the lack or WiFi/reception. This is also a central point to many beautiful attractions nearby. For longer stays, try to buy your groceries before you reach town, as the closest and only store named “Bodes” is quite costly. I hope to spend time here again. It was a special week indeed.

    Camila2020-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is hands down one of the most beautiful locations in New Mexico. Surrounded on all sides by mountain peaks, multicolored rock formations, canyons, and no light pollution at night (for star gazing), this is the place to go for folks who wish to truly unplug from society and plug into the beauty. The casita is lovely, perfect for a couple. Comfy bed, brilliant decorations, and good views from the windows. Bring plenty of food to cook, for the kitchen is perfect for making nice meals. Be sure to feed Gabe the horse an apple, he loves them. The community is very special at star dance. The canyon behind the casita is world class, I am stunned by the beauty. 100% recommend, and will return.

    Jamie2020-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Travel two miles or so down a dirt road you will be in the middle of the scenery that inspired Georgia O'Keefe, among so many others. Our lodging was just footsteps from a beautiful canyon and the peace and solitude of this area is truly unique. The lodge itself is wonderful - the heated floors are a huge bonus in colder weather (you can walk barefoot!) and we were welcomed on Valentine's Day weekend with roses on the table and rose petals on our bedspread. We can't recommend this highly enough!

    Bill2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time visiting the property— just as wonderful as our first time. Hope to be coming back many times in the future!

  • Amazing casita with breathtaking views and wonderful hosts!! Will definitely try and come back! This is a wonderful place to retreat and experience incredible natural beauty in a comfortable, clean, and cozy casita. Loved the fireplace!!

  • This was our fifth time staying at this magnificent property, and it was utterly magnificent. The Casita is warm and cozy, the amenities top notch, and the property and surrounding area are nothing short of outstanding. The starry nights, the peace, and the quiet are the reasons why we will always be return visitors. Regardless of the time of year we visit, each time seems so "right" and so very unique. Bring that book you've been meaning to read, or start writing that book you've always said you would and enjoy the quiet life. We highly recommend this property and plan on visiting again as often as we can. Thank you!

  • Wow! This place is magic. If you are looking for remote, this it is. Beautiful place to stay with amazing views of the canyon and the Milky Way. Only 30 minutes from Ghost Ranch where did our hiking. We appreciated that there was no internet and took the opportunity to unplug. I did get some cell reception on the Verizon network. Highly recommend grocery shopping ahead of time. Would stay here again!

  • Between the weather and a flu coming through for us, Wendy was responsive, informative and kind. Hope we can make it next time.

  • It was worth the drive to wake up on the Mesa with a spectacular view of the Valley! The Bunkhouse adobe structure heated by a potbelly wood stove was just the medicine I needed to shake off my long travels and get back into connection with nature. Steve was super helpful and guided me toward the perfect soak at the Jemez Springs Bath house. I am grateful for the peace and quiet, brilliant stars, and the magical smell of Pinon burning in the wood stove. Wendy is as wise as she is creative and welcoming. Both Wendy and Steve were excellent in their communication and driving directions. This was an ideal retreat for me!

  • Devon (forgive me I'm not sure how to spell your name!), Steve and Wendy were wonderful hosts. They made me feel home right away. NOTE: If you're looking for all the comfort of modern life, this place is not for you. If you're looking for the silence of the desert and a simple, wholesome, close to nature type experience, this place is for you and boy you're in for a surprise.. Jaw-dropping scenery and good hearted people, enthusiastic about sharing the land they love.

    Delphine2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sweetwater Center is a rustic, sustainable place to stay. The bunkhouse is great, the bathrooms are clean and there is always hot water (on-demand system). The composting toilet is easy to use and there is very little smell associated with it. The kitchen/gathering area was clean and neat. Steve is the main caretaker and he is very friendly and full of great information about the Jemez Springs area and beyond! The twisty road to the house is unpaved and quite rough in some places, so I recommend a vehicle with all-wheel drive, or a SUV/truck, which will also come in handy if you do any hiking in the area. The views from this place are stunning. The semi-tame rabbits are a delight! The place IS rustic, so don't expect alot of amenities, but the price is certainly right, especially for those who just want a place to lay their head at night, in between sightseeing / hiking trips. I would certainly stay here again! Be sure and try out some of Wendy's salves and tinctures for sore muscles and relaxation.

Cleaning and sanitizing have always been a top priority. Now we have added more precautions to protect our guests. We hope that you will be at peace knowing that we have done our due diligence to ensure the space is clean. We are also blocking 3 days after every check-out as an additional measure. Our place in the Jemez Mountains is nestled in a quaint valley and backed by national forest. Enjoy the great views and outdoor activities year round from our easily accessible property.
You’ll love the relaxing environment with your own private casita, patio, fire pit, grill, and covered parking space. The casita is adorned with wood planks milled here in Ponderosa at the old lumber mill in the early 1960's. The casita has been updated over the years, but it still retains its charm. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, then this is the place for you. It's a great place to unwind and unplug. Come and reset from your busy life!! You are also welcome to bring your own favorite K-cups!! Please bring ground coffee if you'd prefer this method. Daily maid service is not provided. Additional towels, etc. will be provided if needed. For stays longer than a week, weekly maid service and linen replacements will be provided. If you need a load of laundry washed, dried, and folded, then you can prearrange it for $5.00 per load. Stay for a week or a month for a great discount!! We do not allow animals in the casita due to allergies. Service animals must be crated at all times while in the casita. They must be on a leash at all times while outdoors on the property for your pet’s safety and ours. Our property is centrally located to conveniently tour not only the Jemez Mountains, but also many surrounding cities and popular icons. We do have a friendly cat, Bogart, who loves to visit our guests. He is an outdoor cat and is not allowed in the casita. • Meleny’s casita was warm welcoming and in a perfect location for those looking for something a little further out of city limits, but an easy effortless drive to Albuquerque. Guest house was very clean, bed was comfortable and well appointed with everything one could need for a comfortable stay.

  • Very cozy and comfortable place.

    Dana2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Meleny's casita is such a sweet, comfortable space. The friendly outdoor feline hosts and nearby apple trees made it an even nicer one. We were in the area to hike and visit a few natural highlights, and the casita was an excellent access point to the region. We would certainly come back and stay again next time we're in the area!

    Elizabeth2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a pleasure to stay at Meleny’s! We had a short yet very enjoyable stay at the Casita for the Balloon Fiesta Festival. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by her two playful cats! The home was just as described beautiful , private and clean. So many thoughtful touches to make guests comfortable and relax. It is located in a nice quiet area, we were able to enjoy the scenery on our way to Albuquerque which was was shorter than we expected . Check in was very easy and Meleny was incredibly nice and very responsive at all times which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall my stay was more than pleasant and would definitely recommend the place to others!- Great price , great location, spacious and a friendly, attentive host. Can’t wait to come back to this little gem!

  • Meleny and her Casita hit all the right notes for Barb & I. Initially, it did seem like Ponderosa would be a bit of a drive from ABQ, but as we seemed to hit the back and forth during sunrise and sunset, we were mesmerized by the scenery and colors. The drive was a welcome and relaxing part of our long day as vendors at the Balloon Fiesta art show. The Casita itself was the perfect getaway. Super clean and tastefully decorated, the space had everything we needed. The fresh eggs in the mini fridge were a nice and delicious touch. Only had a brief chance to get to know Meleny, but she was a perfect host, making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to revisit this area, stay with Meleny and her family and take advantage of some of the many local activities and destinations.

    Alan2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled in a green valley of great beauty, this cozy casita is surrounded by crystalline silence. It is spotless and charming. The bed is wonderful even for someone like me with back issues. Meleny anticipates her guests’ every need: there were tweezers and a small first aid kit in the spotless bathroom. (Not to mention a shower cap and all amenities ) The kitchen is meticulously equipped. We cooked several meals and took our morning coffee in the green area under two arching Apple trees loaded with fruit. Apples perfumed the air. The view was so lovely I painted it. Meleny has a bulletin board and binder offering all the information one could possibly need about the area. Maps- flyers- you name it : she has it covered. She even provides fresh free range eggs from her chickens. We enjoyed every minute of our ten night stay and hope to return for a month next year. Outstanding location!

  • It's always a pleasure to have my family members stay in Billy's guesthouse. It is so stylish and old-fashioned cute -- from the wood stove to the porch for sipping coffee and taking in the fresh cool air and the amazing views of "downtown" Jemez Springs and San Diego Canyon. The fresh farm eggs are an especially nice amenity. This guesthouse is a gem and super value! I highly recommend it.

  • We loved our stay at the cottage. It's the perfect headquarters for doing anything in town, but also a nice little oasis if you just stay inside by the woodstove. Our host was friendly and helpful - the eggs and coffee were much appreciated! 🙏 The awesome views of the mountains were hard to leave behind. Would definitely stay here again!

    Nick2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice time here! The place was cozy and cute, the stove and heated bed kept us warm all night, and we had our tea out by the chickens in the morning. The hosts were great, they provided us with all the ammenities we could have wanted, and the location was perfect (walking distance to food and the springs). We're definitely planning on coming back in the summer for another get-away!

  • Fun walkable location right in Jemez Springs. My daughter and I had a very relaxing visit. Billy provided all we needed to be comfortable on a cold February night. He cranked up the wood stove and pointed out the local cafes. We chose to relax by the warmth of the wood stove and played board games. The bed was cozy. Such a nice time. Thanks Billy!

The place for the outdoor lover to experience nature while enjoying (most) of the conveniences of home. Set right nearby San Pedro Wilderness/SF National forest makes this is a hiker’s paradise. Great jump off point for Abiqui Dam and Chaco Canyon. Host is an expert on the area and happy to provide you with all the information you need to have a perfect visit. You won't have WIFI and cellphone connection is spotty at best. This is a place to unplug and recharge.
Charcoal and small propane grill is available as well as a propane stove.
Village of Cuba is about a 15 minute drive with restaurants and basic groceries available. Brunos Mexican Cafe has excellent New Mexican food. Contact host for more information about the available outdoor activities.
  • Great place to go escape and enjoy nature for a few days! Marco was honest, helpful, and quick to respond. Would definitely come back!

    Dillon2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable stay. The house was nice and private but easy to find. Everything was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Marco provided fresh bottled water for coffee and drinking. We stayed there while in the area for a wedding so it was nice having two bathrooms and three mirrors to get ready with as I had 4 teen/young adult women with me. There was also a turntable and a decent size vinyl collection so we had music to listen to while we got ready. Poor cell service - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We had a nice stay.

    Shannon2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marcos Mountain House is quite special. It's far enough from the rest of the world not to have internet (which we considered a bonus). We came to enjoy the quiet, the smell of pine trees, the walks, the starry nights. They only disappointment was that we didn't get to see elks, but looking for them was great fun it itself. Marco, at very short notice, managed to get the place ready for us: beds made, a campfire ready to go, a huge supply of fresh fruits. It was all much appreciated. I recommend Marcos Mountain House to anyone who's looking for peace, clean air, and birdsong. And elks.

This high mountain cabin has a very warm feel with the tongue and groove floors and ceiling. Located at 8800 feet in altitude makes a welcome relief from the city heat. Completely furnished and equipped. Walk out of the front door in to the Santa Fe National Forest for hiking, biking, fishing, or whatever strikes your fancy. Wonderful secluded location bordering the Santa Fe National Forest. Hike or ride your mountain bike right from the front door into the woods.
There are many short walks in the area including a large meadow with a pond, an overlook into the San Antonio canyon, and longer trips that would include the San Antonio Hot Springs if you would like a good, hot, mineral soak! Wild life is plentiful in the area with deer, elk, turkey, and the occasional bear along with many species of birds frequenting the feeders. Sit out on the front or back deck and listen to the beautiful silence of the Jemez!Amanda's Country Store is located 4 miles down the road in La Cueva. All you will need is food and beverages for your stay. Throw in your favorite pods for the Kuerig, or your grounds will work in the reusable pods. There is a washer and dryer available in the warmer months with soap and dryer sheets. Monica's Food Wagon is near Amanda's in La Cueva in the summer months, and Jemez Springs is 20 minutes down SR 4 where you can hit Los Ojos Bar and Restaurant, The Stage Stop Restaurant, and Hiway 4 Cafe and Bakery. Jemez Springs also features hot springs, a bath house with massage available, and Jemez State Monument. The Valles Caldera main gate is half an hour drive and is full of beautiful meadows and peaks ready to be explored. Access is limited daily so be sure to check with the visitor center for details. Fishing is available in the Caldera or in several streams located a few miles away, as well as Fenton Lake, which is 12 miles away. Another 20 minutes past the Caldera will put you in Los Alamos. Shops, restaurants and museums will make your trip to the "Atomic City" worthwhile. Near Los Alamos is Bandelier National Monument where you can explore ancient cliff dwellings or have a nice picnic down by the creek. Longer hikes at Bandelier are available to include waterfalls and back country shrines and painted caves. The cabin has two bedrooms with queen beds. There is a blow up full size mattress available for an extra guest if needed. Full bath equipped with a tub & shower. It has ceiling fans to keep the cool air circulating and a pellet stove to keep it toasty in cooler weather. Temperatures are rarely above 80 in summer so A/C is not necessary. It certainly has a "cabin" feeling with the pine wood floors, spruce tongue and groove ceiling in the main room and a big four post log bed in the master bedroom.
Bandolier National Monument is 45 minutes from the cabin. This is a great day trip. San Antonio Hot Springs is a two mile (approximate) hike and is a guest favorite. Plenty of streams to fish in and Fenton Lake is a 12 mile drive if you prefer to sit on the bank or rent a kayak. There are museums and attractions in Los Alamos which is 45 minutes away.
  • Beautiful house with abundant wildlife and local hikes. Extremely relaxing.

    Joshua2020-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and the setting is way above and beyond what the pictures depict. You’ll drive up a forested winding road that feels nicely isolated until you come upon a small community of cabins and homes widely spaced from each other. The cabin seems to be at the end of the road at the edge of national forest. Serene. The inside of cabin is clean and has really everything you need and more. It’s well stocked -even bird seed - we saw woodpeckers, evening grosbeaks, chickadees, jays, sparrows, and more. Chipmunks, Albert’s squirrels also enjoyed the food. You could spend all your tins inside but still feel like you’re out camping in the forest since you’re surrounded by it. The rooms all have nice extra touches and the beds are extremely comfortable. We ran across some elk on a hike around the woods. Beautiful!

  • Beautiful spot with large open windows overlooking a forest of trees! I highly recommend this place. Sam was great!!

    Laura2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sam is my best host ever! Me and my husband were afraid of the snow cover and couldn’t drive well to the cabin on the hilltop. But Sam helped us like a superhero. I was so relieved when he talked with and helped us. His house is my dream house. The size is best for me, super cozy, heartwarming, comfy, clean and thoughtful house! My kiddos loved watching small animals around this cabin. They were planning all the time around this cabin and discovered a lot. I can’t explain all things with my English skill but I totally loved this cabin!! I will come back here again!

  • Perfect cozy snow retreat. Friends and I spent the weekend snowshoeing, sledding, napping, and playing board games. A great way to spend time together. I couldn't have asked for a better location. Well stocked cabin, great pellet stove and down comforters kept us toasty.

  • The Jeme Mountains and Valles Caldera in particular are wonderful places to explore and enjoy. Sam's "Little Cabin in the Woods" is likewise the perfect place to stay as you experience all the Jemez have to offer. The cabin is cozy, fairly secluded , convenient, and Sam is expertly hospitable in getting guests set up for a perfect visit. Will of course stay at Sam's cabin the next time I visit the Caldera.

My place is close to Abiquiu Lake, Ghost Ranch Conference Center, and Christ in the Desert Monastery. This is Georgia O'Keeffe country where many of her famous landscapes are on splendid display (even right out our front door.) Artist studios dot the area. Hiking and jeep trails are plentiful for active interests. High desert beauty invites solitude, contemplation, and creativity. La Tierra is especially good for retreat seekers, artists of every kind, adventurers, couples, and furry friends.
I have landed on "cinemagraphic" as the best keyword description of our area. All around us are lands that have been used for decades in motion pictures and you will feel the grandeur as you drive next to the cliffs of Ghost Ranch along Highway 84 and then cut over the Abiquiu Lake Dam in route to our off-the-beaten-track neighborhood of homes. My husband, Rick, and I bought land here in 2006 with a vision to build multi-structures in something of a hacienda style. It's been a slow but epic task so far with Rick doing 90% of the building himself. He's pretty much of a Marlboro Man sans cigarettes. This first structure is a glorified 3-bay garage. As our guests, you will step into this beginning stage of our building vision and our hopes to one day provide significant space for inspiration and work to artists of all disciplines - including ourselves.
Our property is part of a subdivision of 10-11 acre tracts called the High Mesas of Abiquiu. We are a gated community boasting some spectacular high-dollar homes and an exclusive boat ramp to Lake Abiquiu.
  • We choose this place for the roof top balcony and to be honest, it turned out to be so much more. Regan’s welcoming hospitality during our trip was incredible! We definitely will be back and I’d recommend La Tierra to anyone visiting this area of New Mexico!

    Jake2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • For the first time ever we are tempted to submit a terrible review, just so no-one else will want to book!!! THIS IS AN AMAZING PLACE and we want it for ourselves :-) !! -On top of a mesa , in the middle of Georgia O' Keefe country , with two dedicated owner hosts who will make your stay the best ever! The building you'll be staying in combines the best of warehouse and adobe living, and the roof deck alone is a reason to come here - it provides 360 views of some of the most spectacular ( and spiritual ) land in the country. The desert location provides a perfect opportunity for developing a mindful attitude around water use - despite the apparent abundance of it - provided by the hosts. We got up with the dawn and saw rabbits and roadrunners as well as falcons, walked to the lake and just sat on the roof top or outsied in the sun and stared . That's what you want to do here - sit and stare. Thank you to Regan and Rick for an amazing experience ! We'll be back if you let us !

  • This is by far one of the best places that I have ever stayed in my life. I have traveled the world and before I arrived at Regan's place I was very stressed and uptight. Reagan was so warm and inviting to myself and my dog, within an hour all my stress disappeared. It was a wonderful trip and highly recommend for anyone who wants to unplug and re-energize.

    James2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Regan’s place is a Mesa Top nature lovers dream. Expect a few bits of dust due to the ability to enjoy inside/outside living. We had the garage bay door open throughout the day and well into the evening hours in late September and it remained comfy and cozy inside as the high desert afternoon turned to night. If you love the outdoors, and a relaxing place to immerse yourself in astounding views... this is the place.

La Luna Studio is a private guest rooms with ensuite bath, a queen-sized bed, luxurious linens, private entrance, amazing views, coffee pot, microwave, and shared BBQ grill area. The studio is located in a secondary building on an 8 acre property. There is no kitchen.
The room is located in a secondary building on an 8-acre property. There are two guest rooms in the secondary building so another couple may be renting the second guest room. The property also houses a one-bedroom one-bath vacation home. We provide our guests with information on local activities and places to explore.
The El Sol (The Sun) studio is a relatively small single guest room with a private ensuite bath and walk-in shower. The building is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by end of June, 2019. We are currently taking reservations beginning August, 2019. The guest room is located in a secondary building on an 8-acre property. The room has its own private entrance, large sliding doors with screen, spectacular lake and red rock views, queen-sized bed, luxurious linens, ensuite private bath with shower, microwave, coffee maker and a shared outdoor BBQ area. While the room does not have a refrigerator, we can supply an ice chest/cooler for the room should you have cold food. Parking is free and on-site. The single private guest room is a great lodging option for those who do not need a full house or kitchen. A perfect option for those taking classes at Ghost Ranch, an alternative to Riana Campground, or anyone looking for a get-away with a wonderful and quiet room. The Studios are located in a secondary building on the 8-acre grounds of a one-bedroom, one-bath vacation rental home (Abiquiu Lake Mesa) should you have a larger party and want to rent both the home and studios. Studios are discounted when you also rent the home; reach out to us for pricing. There is a wonderful history in this area - from dinosaurs, to Native American pueblos, to Spanish explorers, to cattle wrestlers, to ghosts and witches, to Georgia O’Keeffe - all the way to our current age where the past history and culture blends with the artist colony that Abiquiu has become. The home is conveniently located near Ghostranch, Echo Amphitheater, Monastery of Christ in the Desert, Plaza Blanca, Pedernal, and the Carson National Forest. You will also want to explore the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm, rafting the Chama River, the Ra Paulette Cave Tour and Ojo Caliente.
  • The stunning view and remote location is the highlight of this comfortable bedroom. Being an intrepid traveler helps in finding this gem. The views are unforgettable, the room is basic yet very private- perfect for a romantic getaway. The large shower is very nice. Carolyn is a caring and responsive host. Don't hesitate to book this unique place- you will not be sorry! Your friends will be jealous when they see your photos.

  • Staying here will be a memory we cherish forever. The scenery is unlike anything us urbanites have ever seen. . The view looking out of the Airbnb peers out into a vast land that seemed like the backdrop of an classic western movie mixed with a Georgia O'Keefe painting. We kept remarking throughout the trip that we felt like we had our own national park to ourselves. Carolyn and her partner, Tom, were both very responsive to all our needs and even helped us out of a car jam one evening. They do an incredible job to make your stay as good as it can be. If you plan on staying here I would advise the following: - Put 40 Los Ojos Dr. into your GPS and FOLLOW Carolyn's very thorough instructions. The address that we had from Airbnb took us 30 mins away from the actual location and once you get into the development it becomes very tricky to follow if you're just relying on a gps. - This as remote and off-the-grid as a place you will find. Don't expect to have high speed internet and bring your own supplies. The closest general store is 30 mins away as are the couple of restaurants in town. - I highly advise driving a car with AWD if possible. We got stuck without it. However, this was also the winter and the road was a few inches of frozen ice. - Bring a camera!

It was hard to leave such a well-designed house with special touches every, nestled among red-faced mountains both behind and in front of the house. Thank you Susan.

  • My family of 4 had a great stay at River house. The house was comfortable and spacious and we enjoyed the views and quietness of the area. Jemez Springs was just down the road (we especially enjoyed a sunny afternoon soak in the hot springs) and there was plenty more to see and do within a 15-20 minute drive - hiking, Jemez Pueblo and beautiful scenery all around.

The Village is located along the Jemez Mountain Trail Scenic Byway, in close proximity to the Valles Caldera National Park – one of only six super volcanos in the world – whose underground mineral hot springs have drawn visitors to the village for centuries. Along with its hot springs and outdoor activities, the village is equally rich in cultural beauty, home to Jemez State Monument (Jemez Historic Site) dating back at least 500 years whose remnants have stood the test of time. In fact, the Monument’s 16th century San José de Guisewa (Jemez) Church is one of the largest missions in the United States. . http://www.jemezsprings.org/
  • This place is truly one of a kind. As my boyfriend and I are from the east coast, New Mexico (and specifically Jemez Springs) was an amazing getaway. Mark’s little cottage is beautifully decorated and so homey. Not to mention, the bed is one of the best I’ve ever slept on. So worth it!

  • Excellent hospitality! Beautiful place! Perfection!

  • Debi's vacation is just incredible! It is in front of a mesa and the views are amazing. We walked to town several times- we really enjoyed Giggling Hot Springs. The house is spotless and has quite a few amenities for feeling so relatively "remote". We enjoyed the Smart TV in the evenings. Debi was very communicative and responded immediately to all of our question. I would like to return!

    Karen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Jemez valley and surroundings are a favorite escape for us and Debi’s place only added to our enjoyment. All you could want/need and more. The best small rental we’ve seen in the area after 20+ years of living in NM. Especially great for a couple as there are a lot of knick-knacks so managing little kids’ hands might be a challenge. Thankfully our kids are older now and could stay at home while we enjoyed a quiet weekend in the red rocks and beautiful forest.

    Jason2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Debi's place was perfect for our weekend in the Jemez. The house is charming with lots of beautiful pieces of art, thoughtful touches and truly spotless. The bed was very comfortable too. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Debi's place was wonderful. A beautiful location, very clean space, a homey feel.Loved the outside area too. It was easy to check in and out and we got to meet Debi who was helpful in showing us around. I would highly recommend this place and hopefully we will be back to enjoy it again.

  • Debi is wonderful and this house is perfect. She includes every ammenity you could need and it is walking distance to town. Can’t say enough about her hospitality and kindness. Thank you, Debi, for making our experience exceptional!

    Betsy2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt this place is wonderful. The location is perfectly suited close to town but up on a hill for some added privacy. The house itself is nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. Debi has clearly put a lot of thought into making this a home away from home. Her communication was outstanding and the little touches here and there made us really appreciate choosing this place.

    Chris2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We have rented many vacation properties over the years. This is one of the best we have stayed in. The house was spotless! It is tastefully decorated inside and out, has everything you could possibly need to make it your home away form home. The home is secluded in a very quiet area. Jemez Springs is a very friendly little town. Everyone we met made us feel welcome. The location is very conducive to exploring all of the natural attractions the area has to offer. There is a lot to see and do! One thing I still can't get over is the stars at night. Absolutely spectacular! I have never been to an area where the Milky Way so so noticeable and vivid. Debi is a fantastic host. Communication was timely throughout the process, she is very kind and friendly, and helpful in every way. If you are looking for a top notch rental in this area you will not go wrong with this one.

  • This beautiful home is located about halfway between Jemez Springs and Los Alamos. We had dinner in Jemez Springs and lunch in Los Alamos. The home was perfect for our family of 5 on our Glamping weekend. Stocked with games, barbeque grill, fire pit and a beautiful deck we loved hanging out at the house. The area is very scenic and the road to the property is hilly so I can see how a 4 wheel drive would definitely be needed. We have AT&T and lost cell service but we’re able to use the WiFi and being unplugged for a while was just fine. Beautiful home!

The hosts were helpful but not intrusive. We were lucky in that we were the only guests on the property (there are other casitas, hurts and a teepee). We didn’t really want to be around other people so that worked out well. I would highly recommend this place to those who want to surround themselves with nature. Thanks for the great getaway!

  • This is a beautiful and peaceful location with killer views. Be prepared (bring in groceries and know the road in can be bumpy/rough), but it is worth it if solitude and quiet are what you seek.

  • We had such a lovely time - the scenery was spectacular, the stargazing was breathtaking, our hosts were super helpful and friendly, the hiking was terrific - best getaway in a long time.

  • A jaw-dropping location. Views that are views of a lifetime, out of both front and back windows. Peace and quiet, energy and magic, and a wonderful host who is responsive, hospitable and attuned to your every need. And to boot, a great price. Run run run to rent this place. You will thank me for years afterward.

  • My husband and I made the trip to New Mexico for our 10th Anniversary. The casita was perfect for us and our fur kids. The views are breathtaking. Beth is a wonderful host and so friendly. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we added an additional night to our stay. We hope to come back soon.

  • Beth and Mr. Dakota were exceptional hosts! The casita has everything you need for a super comfortable stay. Views are impressive and the area is serene. Nearby adventures are readily available. I highly recommend a 4x4 vehicle in order access some great spots. Overall, our stay at Casita Pedernal was top notch!

  • Such a lovely woman! Very thoughtful and accommodating. People like her makes the world a better place. Can’t thank her enough for opening her home to me on such short notice. I’m traveling around the US and needed a place to stay around New Mexico and it just so happen that it’s during Thanksgiving! The place is stellar and the landscapes are breathtaking. The people in Abiquiu are very welcoming too that you can’t help but wish them so much happiness in life. Thank you Beth for showing me kindness and give me the opportunity to tell my friends and family that travel can bring out the best in people.

  • You can't go wrong being high up on the knoll with Pedernal out one window and the cliffs above Abiquiu Lake out the other. Super cozy with outstanding views and close to the Rio Chama canyon, Ghost Ranch and the venerable Bode's General store, among other attractions.

  • Great space, amazing location and the springs were absolutely fantastic. Amazing window into authentic New Mexico beauty and hospitality.

  • Great place!

    Noelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place was amazing. The check in process was super easy and we made it just in time to enjoy our complimentary two hour soak at the hot springs (which was remarkably relaxing after a day on a plane). The space itself was one of a kind and I could tell a lot of thought went into the decor. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway then this is the place for you! I can’t say enough good things (including the bed which was so comfy). Only thing to note for visitors is that Jemez Springs is very small so food options are limited, so make sure to bring something to eat if you don’t feel like trying out the quaint bar across the street!

    Katherine2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place! looking for a piece of New Mexico, look no further. Rustic, beautiful and steps away from the hot springs. Great location in Jemez Springs. The perfect get away!

A cozy cottage nestled amongst the ponderosa & piñon pines. This mountain retreat offers expansive views from windows and deck space. The property borders on Santa Fe National Forest and Poleo Creek is a short hike away. Relax in this special getaway...read, meditate, nap....The treehouse is an architectural gem. Think tiny living with intelligent design. 30 minute drive from beautiful Abiquiu Lake & Georgia O'Keefe country. Outdoor adventures await.
This is one of two architectural gems nestled on Poleo Mesa near Abiquiu. The other Cottage can be viewed/rented under Bare House Cottage at Poleo Creek near Abiquiu. The two cottages have a shared deck with expansive views. The Tree House has its own wood fired sauna. Part of the deck space is shared space between the cottages (at times...the other cottage might be occupied while you are there). Remember this a clothing optional facility...you might not chose to go without clothes but others guests might be nude. We are on the north side of the Jemez Mountains, close to Abiquiu Lake and San Pedro Park Wilderness. This is a remote location. The nearest grocery store or restaurant is 40 miles away. There is a wonderful general store ,"Bode's" in Abiquiu, that has everything you might need including: Groceries, gas and a small cafe. Be sure to bring food for your stay. The cottage has a full kitchen. This entire property is smoke-free. This includes, e-cigarettes, and any other form of smoking or vaping.
The cottage is oriented to the east on an acre of land... so we always have beautiful sunrises. There is a dirt road behind our home that affords access to the San Pedro Wilderness which can get busy on the weekends. Otherwise it's very quiet and serene... the night sky is amazing for Milkyway gazing.

Circle A Ranch is a unique venue for rustic events, weddings and family reunions, or retreats.   The facilities are ideal for family and friends group cooking, gathering around the fireplace in the great room, or watching the stars from the veranda. The large terrace, adjacent lawn and orchard are spacious and can accommodate tables and/or dancing.  The setting for the ceremony can be selected from many beautiful sites on the property: two ponds, several meadows, or acres of pine forest
A mountain home, still the way it's always been. Let this be your place, for your moment. For almost 100 years, the Circle A has been woven into the seasons of New Mexico. In the summer, the lovingly preserved and restored two story building's thick adobe walls hold back the sun's heat .  Come fall and winter, potbelly stoves and fireplaces throughout the building  invite you to cozy up and linger. And throughout you'll find the authentic, hardworking aesthetic of the region that's come to be prized around the world.  At the dead end of a seven mile road and surrounded by meadows and forests, the Circle A is a living reminder of a simpler time. Come experience it for yourself, and see why so many of our visitors come back year after year. We hope your celebration will be full of joy and the peace that enfolds these mountains, and that you will feel free to create the best event ever!
