Please see below for Covid-19 measures Self-contained shepherds hut in the heart of the New Forest National Park. The perfect glamping experience for lovers of the outdoors who prefer some warm home comforts. Fully insulated and heated. South facing with stunning views, surrounded by wildlife and the New Forest on the doorstep. Self Check in. Great pub, award winning farm shop and 2 cafes all walkable. Quick and easy access to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches nearby.
* In light of the Covid 19 health emergency, I’d like to reassure my guests that I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I clean and disinfect all surfaces, the bathroom and kitchen including the cupboard handles, window furniture, door handles, light switches, soap dispenser, washing up liquid bottle, tv remote control, the door key, etc. The bedding and towels are washed at 60 degrees and for now I have removed the scatter cushions and blanket on the bed unless I can wash and dry them ready for my next guests. Our local pub is offering a take away service and the local farm shop which is an easy 1/2 mile walk away is open allowing one person in at a time. We are positioned in the middle of the countryside where you don’t have to come into contact with anybody else if you don’t wish to. You have more chance of meeting a wild pony! It’s self check in so you don’t even have to have any contact with me! I have also set our booking calendar to allow for the hut to be empty for 24 hours between guests rather than guests leaving and arriving on the same day. *Length of stay discounts automatically apply to stays of 3 nights or more and increases the more nights that are booked with 15% off weekly bookings (7 nights). * Late booking discounts. *No extra cleaning fee charged. Situated on the north/west side of the New Forest National Park, a very short drive from the historic market towns of Fordingbridge and Ringwood, ‘Maurietty’ offers an idyllic place to relax and unwind. Located away from roads and a short way along a forest track, it is set on the edge of our 3 ½ acre grounds approximately 100 metres from our house (which is out of view). Stunning south facing views across our paddocks and countryside beyond. However you are not isolated here - there is quick and easy access to all main roads for visitors to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches that Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire have to offer (if you can tear yourself away from your little retreat!). There is a footpath at the back of our house which goes along the edge of our paddocks which is the best route to take to Hockeys Farm Shop and cafe, and The Royal Oak Pub is a 20 minute walk away (left out of our gates to bottom of track and turn right). There is another café 'The Potting Shed' in Hyde which is approx. a 15/20 minute walk across the common (left out of our gates, up track a short way and take first right at 'Gorley Firs' which will take you up onto the common). This shepherd's hut offers character and comfort in spades. The little bijou beauty is like a tardis offering a warm and cosy retreat. Inside the fully insulated bespoke hut you'll find all the comforts you would expect from luxury self-catering accommodation. A bathroom with 800x800 shower, wc, wash basin and electric ladder radiator. A kitchenette with belfast sink, microwave, cafetiere, kettle, toaster, electric cooking/frying pan, small chiller fridge, all cutlery and crockery and electric radiator. The 4'6" double bed is built in across one end of the hut with storage underneath, a window and tv with built in freesat and dvd player for those british rainy days when you might want to tuck up and get cosy and watch a film. South facing double french doors flood the hut with sunshine on brighter days and provide a beautiful view out across open fields. Outside there is a designated parking space right next to the hut and an outdoor seating area looking out at the view. Access to the property is via an electric gated entrance for which you will be provided with a code. The site once formed part of Ibsley RAF base during World War II. The block of stables that you look out onto is the old latrine block and a couple of Stanton air raid shelters are in the paddock. Literally to the rear of the hut is the open New Forest. Horse riders frequently go by as well as wildlife such as the New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys, deer, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds such as buzzards which are often seen circling above the trees during the summer months. Award- winning farm shop and cafe that also offers bike hire 0.5 mile (follow the footpath that starts at the back corner of our property), horse riding 1 mile, watersports and fishing lakes 2 miles, thatched pub with restaurant 1 mile (15/20 minute walk). Ringwood (with a Waitrose, Lidl and Sainsbury's) 5 miles and Fordingbridge (with a Co-op and Tesco Express) 2.5 miles. ****If the dates you would like to book won't fit into the booking calendar then please send me a booking request and I will try to accommodate you. ****Unfortunately we don’t allow dogs in the hut. ****Please have a look through the ‘house rules’ and it’s important you follow my directions to find us easily. ****Please note that WiFi can be unreliable due to our countryside location despite the area recently having fibre optic broadband installed! It’s something we’ve learnt to live with. We can always pick up 3G or 4G.
The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England.

  • Fabulous place recommend to anyone for a relaxing break away

    Belinda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a 2 night stay at the Bothy to celebrate my husband's birthday. The place was perfect for our short break. The weather wasn't great (wet and windy) but the cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming. We already had a wood turning experience booked locally so had planned for the winter weather, but in the better weather you'd be spoilt for things to do locally. We ate out at The Red Lion, within walking distance one night. Fab food and would also highly recommend. Loved the welcoming touches of bread, milk, orange juice, croissants and the infamous chocolate muffins.

    Alison2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This retreat was just what we needed a perfect little get away with multiple touches from Chrissy. Would love to come back and stay again. Thank you for making it so special. Couldn’t recommend enough.

The place itself was sparkling clean and there were some lovely touches, thank you for the bath salts and muffins! The hot tub is also excellent and very private. We will definitely book again and recommend to others.

Alison has taken such care with all the little touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible, as well as great local advice. We’d definitely recommend a visit and hope to be back ourselves in the future.

  • I stayed here for the weekend with my husband and 1 year old son. We had a lovely stay. The space is bigger than it looks in the pictures - nice bright open space with high ceilings. Alison was lovely and left us some nice touches, like a few children's books and kids towels, and a few supplies in the fridge (milk, butter, eggs). Walking distance to a Tesco express and bakery which was handy :) would definitely recommend

  • Amanda and Mark appear to care that you enjoy your time in Ringwood. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed time in new forest.

    Liam2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely space! Think: stylish Swedish cabin, with homely touches. Amanda has thought of everything you might need and then some. She kindly got me wholemeal bread, and non-dairy spread. There was so much choice for breakfast, and very handy to have a fridge and microwave. A comfy armchair area and lots of dvds to wind down, which was perfect for me as I was travelling solo for work. Outside there was my own little summer house with chinenea and other seating. Really amazing value, and little touches beyond the norm I am used to when travelling so much for work. I will most definitely stay again.

    Iona2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda's cosy lodge made for a great base for the weekend. Delicious options for breakfast. Brilliant host, provided us a with a hose to wash muddy bikes down at the end of a ride.

Everything is super clean and comfortable. Well equipped little kitchenette, with some breakfast food provided! We really enjoyed the summer house behind the studio, a nice secluded spot to enjoy to chimera that Amanda has. Well situated in Ringwood with easy access to new forest. Our barn is unique and quirky, being made from recycled materials, resulting in a homely atmosphere. We’re at the western side of the National Park. Access to/from London is very good. Our market town (Ringwood) is nearby, as are beaches, the Purbecks, the Jurassic Coast, and local tourist attractions. The barn is secluded and suitable for couples, families, older folk and business people. We also accept pets, provided owners accept and adhere to our pet rules.
Red Oak Barn sits on the western edge of the National Park and within the conservation area known the New Forest Western Escarpment. The barn isn't a 5 star hotel, although we endeavour to offer a five star experience. It doesn’t have central heating, relying on a woodburner augmented by electric heaters. The building is built mainly from reclaimed materials and this is reflected in the style of the furnishings. We think its appeal is its quirkiness and homely feel. A great deal of care has been spent on equipping the barn and we hope this will be both enjoyed and respected by our guests. We live on site in our cottage and should be on hand to offer assistance if needed. It has two ‘stable type bedrooms’, which do not offer complete privacy. There is a fully equipped kitchen and an open plan seating area. There is a shower room with a toilet and washbasin, which are connected to a septic tank, which can only cope with natural waste. There is a large covered veranda leading onto a decked area, which is screened from the rest of our garden and our cottage. The decking area is made from recycled wood and care needs to be taken as it can be both slippy when wet/frozen and uneven when dry (there are mats available if needed). There is a traditional and BBQ and a gas alternative after consultation. For the energetic there's a tennis table. If you’re more into relaxing; sitting with a glass of wine in hand in front of our chimera should suit. The barn has a large wood burning stove, an infra red heater in the kitchen area and a number of movable electric background heaters. The kitchen is fully equipped for meal preparation with a dishwasher and washing machine. The wireless broadband is reasonably fast (12MBs) and TV channels are via FreeSat. There is a Bluetooth speaker for downloads of playlists. We have a cat (that doesn't venture into the barn) and are happy to accept pets, but only after consultation, agreement and adherence to our pet rules. We think the barn would appeal to couples wanting a peaceful break or young families needing a change of scene (however there is a small pond within the garden). It should also appeal to older couples wanting to relax or explore the stunning countryside nearby. If you are a business person and want to unwind and recharge your batteries, our barn should hopefully fit the bill. We live along a private no-through road which is very quiet. Deer, foxes, buzzards and tawny owls are common, as well as a wide variety of other wildlife. Towells and linen are provided. As are wood and charcoal for the woodburner and BBQs. There is a Tesco Express, bakery, off license and chip shop tow minutes drive from the barn.
The western side of the National Park offers a host of activities which may appeal. Walking, riding, cycling, water sports, sailing and chilling out, to name just a few. The National Motor Museum, Peppa Pig, Bovington Tank Museum, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Moors Valley Country Park are popular attractions our previous guests have enjoyed.
  • We loved this place. We were two couples and one baby travelling and we really enjoyed our stay. The communication with the hosts was really fluid, they offered lots of suggestions and check in was super easy. The barn is really quirky, lots of cosy details and the kitchen is really well equipped and clean. Even though the barn is in the same property as the host's beautiful home, it has total privacy thanks to the tall greenery. We can't wait to go back in the summer and make use of the BBQ facilities. We did a few walks directly from the property straight to the forest. They provided us with a travel cot (a good one, with a proper mattress) and highchair. They left croissants, eggs and bread for us to enjoy. It really was very very thoughtful. We couldn't fault it and can't wait to be back.

  • The barn is fabulous and really nicely equipped. The kitchen amenities are great and the space is so charming and relaxing. It was warmer than expected as it is so well insulated and the fire does an excellent job of warming the entire space if needed. Location wise it is great, just a few minutes from shops and attractions and just on the edge of the forest so you can walk out from the barn and explore! I cannot recommend enough, the hosts are on hand and just want people to enjoy their wonderful barn as much as possible.

    Dan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Gwyneth were absolutely wonderful hosts. They truly made us feel welcome! And the barn and surrounding area is beautiful, just what we wanted for our countryside getaway.

    Sophie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful barn in a lovely location and the hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful during our stay.

    Emma2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean and comfortable accommodation. Gwyneth and Peter were super hosts and their attention to detail was second to none. Great location to explore the New Forest. Gwyneth and Peter were on hand to provide you with recommendations of places to eat and explore. Will definitely go back.

    Ian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The barn looks lovely and cosy in the pictures but is even more amazing in reality! We had such a warm welcome from Gwyneth and Peter. The wood burner was going, they showed us around and during our stay, nothing was too much trouble. There were so many nice thoughtful touches to make our stay so special. The location is excellent , near all the beautiful forest walks and not far from the coast either. There is a Tesco express, bakery , off license, and a take away with excellent fish and chips nearby. With such lovely hosts, the cosy eclectic barn in a pretty setting and stunning country side, Gwyneth and Peter's barn is very special indeed. We can't wait to return one day and highly recommend !!

    Claire2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Gwyneth and Peter for your amazing barn. We had a fantastic time. You are amazing hosts and we could not dream of a better place to relax and celebrate the new year 2020! Again happy and healthy new year. Flavie

  • Peter and Gwyneth have an absolutely beautiful barn and do a truly amazing job of making it feel homely, personal and relaxing. We agree with other comments that the pics don’t do this place justice-it is a one off top quality place with lots of quirks and style. We couldn’t have enjoyed the stay any more than we did and a big part of that was how welcoming Peter and Gwyneth were. We will 100% go back in the future.

The Barn is a beautifully restored cottage in the New Forest. You will love staying here for a romantic getaway or for a relaxing holiday for two. Cosy up in front of the fire after enjoying long walks or cycle rides in the Forest or visiting one of the quaint Forest villages. If you do not fancy heading out for dinner, you can enjoy cooking in the spacious kitchen. You will love the beautiful mezzanine bedroom, which is accessed by a stunning spiral staircase, and the luxury bathroom.
Nestled in the ancient North Ridge of The New Forest National Park, The Barn at High Forest Cottages provides a peaceful hideway to relax and enjoy the unique beauty of the forest. Situated within the forest boundary, inside the cattle grid areas, our regular visitors include the famous ponies and cattle that make the forest such a stunning wildlife environment. Whilst deer are a rare sight, we often welcome a small herd into the paddocks, to enjoy some free grazing! The Barn has been beautifully restored to provide an open plan living area with a mezzanine bedroom and bathroom, which is accessed by a stunning spiral staircase. The Barn has underfloor heating throughout and a cosy wood burning stove for chilly evenings. The kitchen is well-equipped with a sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven. Dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cleaning products, dish cloths and tea towels are provided. Milk, coffee, tea and sugar are provided on arrival. The living area has a two seater sofa, a tv and blu-ray player. Some books and games are provided for guests use. There is a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings, with wood provided for you. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed with hotel quality linen. The bedroom leads to a well sized ensuite bathroom with fluffy towels and plenty of space for wash bags. Outside is a private patio with outside lighting where you can relax in the sun. There is a private parking space available for guests.
We would love to welcome you to our piece of paradise. We have both given up successful careers in London since our twin boys were born in 2013. We moved to the New Forest at the end of 2014 and just love welcoming guests to our beautiful holiday cottages at High Forest Cottages. We have five cottages in total and welcome larger family or friend groups wishing to use multiple cottages for a special event or annual holiday together. We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, with only a small holding as neighbours. Cross the road and you will find open heathland, forested areas, small rivers and plenty of wildlife. There are lovely paths to explore for an early evening stroll or a proper hike. You can bring your bikes or hire them locally and explore the extensive off road cycle network in the Forest. Road cycling is very popular too and there are regular races held. There are plenty of pubs nearby which serve good food and serve good beer. There is a little village shop 2 miles away, and bigger supermarkets a little further away. You are more than welcome to get online shopping delivered after your arrival.
  • Astrid’s cottage allowed us to have a lovely weekend away in the New Forest - great for relaxing

  • We stayed in the Old Barn and had a fabulous few days exploring the New Forest. It's clearly obvious that Astrid and Mark have ploughed a lot of time, thought and effort into renovating the accommodation they offer. It is extremely comfortable with amazing facilities, and the wood burner was just the icing on the cake each evening when returning on the dark evenings.

Our cosy shepherds hut is situated in a small wood overlooking our paddock in the heart of the New Forest. Situated near the market town of Fordingbridge "Harry's Hut" is in the perfect setting for you to enjoy hiking around The Forest, exploring ancient woodland and visit many of the delightful pubs nearby. The cathedral city of Salisbury is 10 miles to the north and the beautiful Dorset coastline 15 miles to the south.
Harry's hut is beautifully built to a very high standard to include all our guests needs for a truly comfortable and cosy stay. It has a 4'6" double bed, mini kitchen with Belfast sink, double hob, kettle, toaster and small fridge. There is an en suite with shower, toilet and central heating. The hut is totally secluded and peaceful with comfortable outdoor seating and eating area, large fire pit, hammock and portable BBQ. Harrys Hut is situated within a 1/4 acre of woodland overlooking our paddock all for you to enjoy. You will find a radio for your entertainment, board games, books and playing cards. We have usb sockets for you to charge phones iPads etc but be aware we do NOT have any WiFi (for those desperate we have a Wifi you can connect to temporarily up at the house a few minutes walk away). We do however have pretty good mobile signal with 3 and 4G!
Harrys Hut is uniquely in one of the most beautiful corners of the New Forest for you to explore. Ancient woodlands, winding streams and wild heathlands are on your doorstep. New Forest ponies, wild deer and donkeys roam the lane. Hockeys Farm is our local farm shop 1 mile down the lane and sells a wide range of local produce. Several pubs are within walking distance including The Foresters, The Royal Oak at Gorley and The George at Fordingbridge and the Three Lions restaurant . Many such as The Royal Oak at Fritham and The High Corner Inn make a good days walk or cycle ride. We have two riding stables within a mile of Harry's Hut where you can organise a hack round the forest. Breamore Estate with its museum, country house and Saxon Church is 5 miles to the north. Further to the north lies the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury . To the south lies the Dorset coastline with Christchurch and Hengistbury Head .
  • Fabulous little cabin for 2 people, lovely location in the country side. Ellen was a great host.

    Sally2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Harry's Hut was such a lovely escape from hectic London. It's the perfect size for two people spending a few days away. The space is cosy, the bed is comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with essentials and there are plenty of books/board games to keep you occupied. Ellen was prompt in her replies and so accommodating. We rented a car, which made getting to Harry's Hut and exploring the New Forest much easier.

    Kieran2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Harry's Hut, Ellen was a great host, making sure everything was ready for us and answering any questions quickly. The hut itself was clean, cosy and just right for 2 people. There were some great pubs nearby and not far from some long countryside walks. We had a lovely and relaxing time here and hope to come back.

    Alexandra2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Harry’s Hut is absolutely charming. Scandinavian style decor with thoughtful details. Sparkling clean. A very comfortable bed. All essentials in the mini kitchen. A good strong shower. We were here during Storm Jorge and the shepherd’s hut was a cosy retreat. Ellen generously let us stay later than the check out time. We would now like to come back in the summer to take advantage of the pretty field and bbq.

There is large kitchen and living area, a large bedroom with a king size bed and a separate bathroom with bath and shower. The entrance hall has a wood burning stove (one basket of wood provided). Situated in the grounds of an impressive country house, The Hayloft is the stylishly renovated top floor of the 19th Century barn. Perfect for a romantic escape, this boutique hideaway is a haven for couples seeking a quiet retreat. In an unspoiled part of the Forest, deer roam through the walled gardens, a short walk from 2 pubs and a Michelin rated restaurant, it's a great setting from which to explore, although with a well equipped kitchen and cosy wood burner, you may not venture anywhere.
****** Away from the Crowds ****** Dear potential guest, We have blocked out various periods within our calendar to try and give three clear days between guests where possible. If the dates you require appear unavailable please contact us as we maybe able to move the clear days to accommodate your stay. We are undertaking this action in the interest of our guests and our cleaners to limit as much as possible the spread of Covid 19, we hope you understand and support our decision. We always clean thoroughly in between guests, and never more so than now. We have also swapped to a bleach based cleaner for all surfaces. Given our rural location, we are not in a populous area, and guests can walk for miles from our front door and not meet another person if that is what you choose to do, also local businesses, pubs and restaurants are providing excellent take away and delivery services, and will be delighted to serve you. In the interest of everyones’ safety, if you are not feeling great, we ask you to postpone your visit with us until you’re feeling better. If you do book with us, and then develop symptoms, we will be happy to amend your dates for when you are feeling better. This is of course a dynamic situation and will continue to evolve. We are small, in a beautiful rural area where you can truly get some good, fresh air, and so a real haven away. We hope to welcome you soon! ************* The Hayloft is one of three exclusive holiday homes in the grounds of Flaxfield House. Each sleeps 2 adults, perfect if you want to travel with friends or family and be located in the same grounds. They can be viewed at: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/users/237600067/listings The Hayloft forms the top half of a beautiful old barn, and it has been freshly renovated and is now ready to welcome its first guests. Set in 2 acres of walled gardens, adjacent to the main house and offering a high degree of seclusion and privacy, The Hayloft is the perfect country retreat. Surrounded by farmland with grazing cattle and sheep, the forest ponies, donkeys and pigs roam freely the other side of our cattle grid. Local wildlife includes a large herd of deer that roam the walled gardens and neighbouring farmland, so take care when driving down the tree lined drive way. On reaching the main house, you will pass our very happy chickens, who supply the tastiest eggs around! The Hayloft has been designed to make the most of the space with an open plan, loft apartment feel, with spectacular views across the open countryside and fields on one side, and overlooking the walled kitchen garden on the other. The vaulted ceilings, painted brick walls, original beams, stable door and chandeliers add to the charm and character, bringing together something we believe is pretty special. All the wonderful original features do mean the head height is restricted in some areas, and the walls are wonky. We have embraced the different, and think it is perfectly imperfect and hope you will love and appreciate these truly original details as we do! Please note, there is a steep, open staircase to reach the door to the hayloft, and the sides of the room have low ceilings. The centre section of the room is vaulted to give a much higher than average head height. On arrival you will find milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits, and a few little gifts to help you settle in. We will leave you supplies for the wood burning stove for your first night in the loft, so you can kick back and really begin to relax. The vaulted kitchen is fully equipped including hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher. There is restricted head height over the sink, meaning that tall guests will have a great excuse not to wash up, although with a dishwasher this shouldn't be a problem! The kitchen leads through to the cosy sitting room area, complete with wood burning stove, Freeview TV with DVD player and a small selection of DVD's, board games and books. Not forgetting the truly comfortable double bed, and fresh, white sheets to sink into for the perfect nights sleep. The en-suite with its electric shower, WC and sink is small, with restricted head height in some areas, but it is perfectly formed
Stuckton is a small rural Hamlet in an unspoilt part of the New Forest National Park with its free roaming ponies, donkeys, cows and piggies, country pubs, and award winning farm shop just down the road. It is located just a mile from the riverside town of Fordingbridge, where plentiful independent shops and cafes can be found, and 8 miles from the cathedral city of Salisbury, and 6 from the market town of Ringwood. It is also just 20 minutes in the car from the beautiful beaches of Bournemouth, and approx 1.45 hrs drive from London. Exiting our private, walled gardens through the gate and onto a footpath, a left turn will take you to a fantastic local pub, and a right turn to the Michelin rated restaurant, both just a short, level walk away.
  • Peace and quiet, beautiful views, extreme comfort. Lovely having shower toiletries provided.

  • Fantastic stay at Emma and Steve's beautiful place in the New Forest. It was one of those brilliant AirBnb stays which exceeds expectations. Such a thoughtful welcome pack and brilliant local tips. Really peaceful, well located and a really brilliant place to come to get away from it all!

    Ceri2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Emma and Steve’s for the second time last week and once again had an amazing time! The hay loft is a really beautiful place, and the wood burning fire is such a nice touch. It’s an amazing place to go to relax, we spent our time going for walks, having pub lunches and cozying up by the fire. Both Emma and Steve are absolutely lovely and so helpful, thank you both so much!

    Rebecca2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Emma & Steve made us feel really comfortable & welcome, the two were really lovely. Very romantic & cozy place that even the raging storm outside couldn't abate. The skylights are a nice touch to add a lot of light into the place and let the feeling of nature inside, at night it’s great being able to lie in bed & look at the stars outside. The decor is really lovely combining modern & airy with some more traditional touches. Lots of lovely touches throughout the home, especially taking the time for the hand written labels and the welcome note, you would be just as likely to fall in love with the place as each other.

    Andy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A must see! The photos do not do this place justice. If your on the fence between this place and another then look no further, we were overwhelmed with how amazing our stay was at the hayloft. Steve and Emma are both very friendly and helpful and have thought of everything. The personal touches were the best and the whole place had everything you could need. Please try this place out you won’t regret it.

    Joseph2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible place! The hayloft is stunning, super clean and greatly situated. The welcome package you get, just makes it a little home. I would highly recommend it to anyone! 5*

The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I (known as William the Conqueror) as a hunting area, principally deer. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape of his ‘Nova Foresta’ remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England. The park lies mainly in south-west Hampshire, from east of the Avon Valley to Southampton water and from the Solent coast to the edge of the Wiltshire chalk downs covering some 140,000 acres. It is a unique area of historical, ecological and agricultural significance, and retains many of the rural practices conceded by the Crown in historical times to local people. Principal of these is the pasturing of ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys in the open forest by local inhabitants known as commoners. It is an outstanding recreational area for walking, cycling and riding. North Gorley is a hamlet in the New Forest National Park. Its nearest town is Fordingbridge, which lies approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the hamlet. North Gorley is very quiet and has narrow country lanes which we share with ponies, donkeys, cattle, deer, horse riders etc. North Gorley has one inn, The Royal Oak, which claims to be a former Royal hunting lodge and is a 5 minute drive or a 15/20 minute walk and serves great food. Guests can also walk to the award-winning café and farm shop 'Hockeys Farm' which is approx. half a mile away in South Gorley . They serve an all day cooked breakfast and also provide a bike hire service. It's a 5 minute drive to the A338 which gives access north to Fordingbridge and the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury, and south to Ringwood and the A31 east to Southampton and west to Bournemouth and Poole. It's a 25 minute drive to the South Coast's beautiful beaches. The New Forest is known as a lovely tourist honey pot, but there is a big local secret: the north west quarter is quiet and remote. This is the 'proper' Forest with lovely quiet countryside, animals galore, and even on a bank holiday weekend you can still walk for miles without meeting another person. However, The tourist towns and villages such as Burley, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Lymington are all easily accessible and well worth a visit. Our favourite is Lymington which is a beautiful 35/40 minute drive through The New Forest going through Burley. Beaulieu is also very quaint and picturesque with an Abbey and there's a lovely walk from Beaulieu village centre to Bucklers Hard.
  • Perfect cosy spot ...ideal location to explore the New Forrest on foot or by car. Highly recommended.

  • A lovely base to explore the surrounding area, the host was excellent and the property exactly as advertised - clean, tidy, well presented and perfectly positioned.

  • We had a fantastic stay in beautiful surroundings. The cabin is amazing, it’s so cosy during cold, wet nights and if the sun shines the outlook across the fields is stunning! Jo has thought of everything, there’s loads of info on the surrounding area and you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to good pubs or farm shops etc in the area. It really is a perfect escape and we’d highly recommend!

  • It was an amazing time to getaway with a cozy and comfortable house with a beautiful view in the morning

    Liam2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully cleaned well equipped cabin with beautiful scenery of Woodlands. Feel very safe and secluded inside the grounds with the electric gates. Every thing is available for your needs, hair dryer, shampoo even an ironing board. Literally jo has thought of everything. We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we took our youngest. We took our own travel cot which with had up in living room/kitchen area. Plenty of room. We didn't personally meet Jo however any needs she was only a phone call away, which I personally appreciated being "left to it." All instructions were easy to follow and Jo even gave us a separate set of directions because of the flooding fords. Really enjoyed our experience

    Alice2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is in an idyllic setting and perfect for accessing the New Forest. We could easily have stayed longer and would love to stay there again to see more of what the New Forest has to offer. Jo is a fantastic host and provides excellent information, makes suggestions on travel and activities and checked to make sure we were totally comfortable, which we were. I highly recommend staying here. Thanks again Jo

  • Lovely picturesque cabin in a lovely part of the world

    Mark2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is just so beautiful, the space is super clean and cosy, with lovely views and just an all round home-from-home. There’s everything you need for a short break, definitely so much more luxurious than camping in the new forest, but in a simple way so that you can still enjoy the nature and peace around you. Just need to make sure to follow Jo’s directions, especially if arriving after dark! Really appreciated Jo’s friendliness and helped so much with ideas of local places to visit. Hope to be back soon!

Our award-winning self-catering cottage is a private escape from the outside world and a perfect base from which to explore the wonderful New Forest National Park.
You'll love that the welcoming open-plan kitchen and sitting room has everything you need for a week-end or longer stay, the cosy wood-burning stove often the centre of attention. Just through the french windows in the private garden is the hot tub, the perfect place to unwind and look up the stars with a glass of bubbly in hand.

  • A fantastic secluded space with its own hot tub and fenced of garden set in the fantastic scenery of Joce’s property in the New Forest. You can watch the donkeys and ponies from the hot tub, and Joce even has friendly chickens and rabbits for children to pet. Nice pub within a few minutes walk, and great scenery for walks and runs. Joce is a fantastic host and can be on hand to help if needed.

  • Loved our stay thank you so much for having us. The cottage was prestige with some lovely homemade bread and brownies to welcome us. Fresh eggs for breakfast with 5 mins walk to a local pub and some gorgeous walking routes. We will be back!

    Louise2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jocelyn and David are wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they love to go the extra mile. Although our visit did not include children, the cottage is very child friendly. It was the hot tub and the views that clinched our decision to stay, both delivered in spades. The cottage is very well equipped and impeccable clean with fluffy white bath robes provided as well . Highly recommend and we will definitely be returning.

    Maxine2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place. Jocelyn and her family were lovely and incredibly helpful, plus the animals on the farm are super friendly! We would definitely stay again if visiting the area. Also, the home made bread was incredible!

    Robyn2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay from start to finish, we arrived to the wonderful smell of freshly baked brownies, and everything from there onwards did not disappoint. Jocelyn has thought of everything to make you feel welcome, from extra towels, robes, teddy’s on the children’s beds to welcome them, just a wonderful place to stay. There farm was lovely and we were introduced to all of the animals, small and large. I can not recommend this cottage enough. Thank you for a fantastic weekend, we will definitely be back.

    Fraser2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The whole stay surpassed our expectations from beginning to end and Joce made us feel incredibly welcome, with the eggs and other treats we read about waiting for us on our arrival. Our girls loved seeing the animals each day and the recommendations for outings were superb. We’ll be booking our next stay very soon.

A vast amount of different birds including birds of prey, soar above the cottage and the valley.
  • Great place to stay. Right i the forest with a great local pub just 10 mins walk away. Great walks litterally on the doorstep and yes the homemade cake was lovely too. Karens a great host with lots of local tips.

    Steven2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I went to Karen's place for three nights with my golden retriever, Honey. Karen had left some tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk and a homemade walnut cake, which was so thoughtful. The cottage was just the right size for us and I always felt safe and secure there. Although it wasn’t cold in the cottage, I put the electric blanket on before I went to bed and I felt so snugly, just lovely after a day out walking with Honey. The village of Woodgreen is small, with lovely, friendly people. There’s a shop which sells local produce and most things you’d need and a pub which has a very good, not too expensive menu. Also I had some tasty fish and chips from a mobile van which parks up outside the shop late afternoon on a Saturday. Karen and Richard were very good hosts and I really enjoyed talking to both of them. I knew where they were if I needed them but they also let me have the peace and quiet I love so much when I stay in the New Forest. It was a lovely stay, thank you very much Karen and Richard!

    Julie2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is unique - quirky, charming & comfortable & in a delightful spot. Karen is a lovely host - quick to respond to messages & is a warm & friendly. She bakes a LOVELY walnut cake.

  • A quite cosy little cottage with a lot of character. A nice view from the grassy garden. You can walk to the local pup and shop with a choise to use the local road of through the forest. We loved the warm welkom and the delicious homebaked cake.

    Peter2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this cozy cottage, everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Karen even made a delicious cake to see us through our stay! It's in a lovely setting, a woodland walk into the village. Highly recommended!

    Jamie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and her husband were very lovely hosts who gave us great advice and answered all of our questions. The place is located next to Karens house, in the middle of the National Park, with lots of forest, rivers and wild life around. Perfect for a timeout from the busy city life or a romantic weekend with a loved one. We would definitely come back here :)

Surrounded by farmland with grazing cattle and sheep, the forest ponies, donkeys, cattle and pigs roam freely the other side of our cattle grid. On reaching the main house, you will pass our very happy chickens, who supply the tastiest eggs around! Inside, Butler’s Rest Cottage boasts a host of original features including a bread oven, stained glass window, and original cobbled flooring in the kitchen. • We had an absolutely wonderful stay for our honeymoon at Emma's cottage. She left out a beautiful card and hamper full of treats. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • An absolutely beautiful slice of heaven. Everything about Emma and Steve’s place is perfect!! Beautifully decorated with many unique features. Every detail has been carefully thought out making this cottage luxurious. If you’re looking for something extra special I highly recommend Butlers Rest. An absolute gem and Emma and Steve are fantastic hosts.

  • What can I say..? A perfect mini-break with my wife. Butler’s Rest is stylish, cosy and Emma & Steve’s attention to detail with those “little extras” make this New Forest retreat perfect. Immediate replies to any messages with fantastic recommendations for local places to eat, drink and visit. 5 stars.

  • Thank you Emma and Steve for a wonderful weekend away! Beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the world. Could very easily have stayed for longer! Emma and Steve were very friendly and easy to communicate with, and provided useful information about the surrounding area. Hope to come back one day!

  • The photos do not do this place justice. Everything about our stay was amazing, not least the personal touches like the gluten free welcome basket and Max’s birthday cake! It sounds strange to rave about the carpet, however some of the softest carpet I’ve ever walked on and the roll top bath is to die for. Great historical features, and the coffee logs for the wood burner smell amazing. Can’t wait to come back again.

Excellent nearby pubs and shopping in the riverside town of Fordingbridge. An invigorating holiday awaits!

Or jump in the car and explore the whole New Forest National Park. Take a ride on our guest mountain bikes and pack a picnic! There are top class amenities to suit all tastes and exquisite towns and villages to find. The beautiful coast is 20 minutes away. Track down world-class food producers in the New Forest Marque.
  • What a lovely place and perfect for a relaxing getaway. There are great touches for children inside and out. Whilst my four year old played in the garden, I could relax in the hot tub after a day out exploring. It’s all on one level as well with a private driveway so everything just seemed so easy. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area as well, although for most things you do need a car with children. Jocelyn and David were so welcoming and we all really felt at home and would have loved to stay much longer.

    John2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Hyde paddock is beautiful, really cosy. It’s Lovely that you can walk to some great pubs. The extra touches from Joce were great. The homemade bread & brownies went down a treat. My only criticism would be having to pick up the keys as we got totally lost! A key safe would be a great idea. All In all a thoroughly lovely trip and I’d highly recommend a stay here.

  • Amazing!

    Nicholas2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this lovely cottage in the new forest was a delight! In the middle of winter it was wonderful to have a fire burning, the Christmas tree lights on, and a hot tub in the backyard. The house was clean and so well furnished and stocked. Jocelyn was a superb host and provided lots of information about the local area. She also left eggs from her chickens, homemade bread that was still warm, brownies, and a bottle of Prosecco for us. Dinner at the nearby Forrester’s Arms pub was always good. And the New Forest May be one of the most beautiful places in England. Most highly recommended!

    Victoria2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Hyde Paddock is set in a perfect location - wonderful walks and within walking distance of a cafe and pub. The cottage comes with plenty of thoughtful extras (coffee machine, bikes/ helmets, towels, well equipped garden). We had the best time and can’t wait to return

    Fuzia2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a short winter break - the cottage is lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean and in a great location to access all parts of the New Forest by car. Joce had left brownies, bread, eggs and a bottle of fizz which was a really thoughtful touch and the hot tub was brilliant. All in all a very relaxing short break in a great location with a lovely host! Highly recommended.

    Richard And Paul2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place is great and David and Jocelyn were perfect hosts and provided some excellent tips for eating out and lovely walks, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The accommodation was ideally located and spotless, we loved the hot tub too! We also had use of two adult bikes, which we used to ride from the cottage to a lovely pub recommended by the hosts (Royal Oak in Fritham), it was a beautiful ride taking in some great sights and off the road, so great for the kids also. We would recommend the Potting Shed (100 yds from the accommodation), we ate breakfast there twice, bit they also do lunch and dinner, great food and great value. Pubs we liked and ate at which were very close were the Forresters arms and the Royal oak in Gorley, all within walking distance but a few mins drive if travelling by car.

    James2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully comfy, cosy and homely cottage. Lovely host who delivered fresh bread, eggs and brownies on our first day! Perfect for couples or families with kids. • 100% exceeded our expectations, pictures do not do this place justice! If you are looking for a romantic/relaxing retreat this is ideal. The bath in the bedroom was perfect and the place had all the amenities you'd need and more. All the homely welcoming touches and extras made our stay even more perfect and the hosts were very welcoming and accomodating. Very quick responses and quick to help with any queries/issues you may have. Considering this place is really new I'm extremely impressed at the service offered they seem to have thought of everything you'd need! We will definetly be back at some point and will recommend to our friends and family. Thanks Lesley and Mick! :-)

Lesley was very quick to response to messages and on site if needed, proving as much or little contact as you liked. It had everything you needed for the stay. I would highly recommend this beautiful place for a very reasonable price. Thank you Lesley hope to come again soon. Many thanks Lucy and Luke

Please note : In reference to small children/infants - this property has a staircase up to the first floor and a stair guard is provided, but, fitting this is the responsibility of parents/guardians. We are happy for infants to stay, but, you would need to provide a travel cot / bedding for them . They would need to be supervised at all times outside.
  • Booked a return visit and will hopefully use again in the future. A pleasure to deal with. Thanks so much Sarah

  • Our weekend here was excellent. A clean and quiet place, with everything within that you may require. Cosy and has many thoughtful touches throughout. Great communication with the hosts, and their hospitality was outstanding. Would definitely come back and recommend to others.

  • Little Glen is exactly what it says on the tin. A perfect apartment in a great location. We found walks for miles right from the front door and with pubs all around. The amenities were great with Dorset tea, fresh milk and fresh orange juice in the fridge on arrival. The bed was super comfy and such a relaxing place. With no flaws at all I would thoroughly recommend staying here and would love to revisit it myself.

    Zoe2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely love little Glen, one of my favourite places to stay. Sarah is so friendly and helpful and the appartment is just perfect for comfort and a relaxing break after work

My place is great for couples or small families The room has a comfortable King size bed. I can provide a single bed or travel cot for a child, I don’t charge any extra for one child. I have a smaller room next door with a three quarter size double bed if you are a larger group. There’s tea making facilities in the room, also a TV. One well behaved dog is welcome, note there is a small friendly dog here.
There is a private enclosed garden with seating and table., safe for kids and dogs. Also a comfortable south facing conservatory. There's plenty of on-road parking; off-road is also available if required. I have a garage to house bicycles safely.
On the edge of the New Forest and not far from Salisbury or the coast my place is a good base for exploring the beautiful diverse countryside in this area. There are several places to eat in Fordingbridge. A country store is just up the road. The house is semi rural, just under a mile from the town.
  • Lovely host, very good communication, clean and friendly house.

  • I would highly recommend Sharon's place! She is a great host, the house is lovely, clean and easy to find! If I return to the area, I will definitely be booking here to stay again.

  • Sharon was friendly, accommodating and helpful. We changed our plans a few times and she was really flexible. Her place was as described and a good location for where we were visiting.

  • What a lovely hostess, what a lovely place to stay. A very relaxed feeling but Sharon was always on hand to answer any questions. Clean and everything we needed in a lovely setting, we would not hesitate to stay again.

  • From the moment my 8 year old grandson and I arrived we were made to feel totally at home. Sharon was warm, unobtrusive and thoughtful. It was a great kindness from her to allow a play in the garden, a pat of the dog and a shelf in the fridge. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The cottage was sparkling clean, quiet and in a pretty location. A true home from home experience. Thank you Sharon

    Ruth2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant one night stay at Sharon's house. She made us feel very at home as did her little dog Joey. Everywhere was very neat and tidy. We had a great night's sleep and a nice healthy breakfast. Highly recommended.

  • We were a couple with a 3years old child and it was perfect for us. It is a spacious and comfortable room. Both, room and private bathroom have plenty of natural light and were very clean. Sharon is lovely and helped us during our stay. I would strongly recommend this place to stay when visiting the new forest.

Situated on the edge of the New Forest and within the boundary of the New Forest National Park Badgers Rest at Oakhurst has recently been renovated and offers modern contemporary accommodation for those who want a break away from the hustle and bustle. There are ample opportunities for walking and cycling and the beautiful Jurassic coast is within easy driving distance. The major cities of Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury are all within a 20 mile radius.
Badgers Rest is a self contained annexe to our main house and offers self catering accommodation comprising a living room, bedroom with en-suite toilet, kitchen and fully equipped shower room. Towels, bedding and bathroom essentials are provided at no additional cost. The bedroom is up a flight of stairs therefore reasonable mobility is essential. Well behaved medium sized dogs are welcome and there is a shared garden area with BBQ facilities available on request. (Please note dogs are not allowed on the furniture and we cannot guarantee dogs cannot escape the back garden although it is fully fenced.) Dogs must also not be left alone in the property when guests go out. There are no clothes washing facilities however in an emergency we will be able to help out at an additional cost which will be agreed at the time. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. Bicycles can be securely stored in our garage whilst here. You will likely meet Tilly, our Border Collie, during your visit; she is very friendly although a little timid when she first meets new people as she is a rescue dog and had a tough first year of her life. Superfast broadband is available throughout Badgers Rest.
The New Forest is an exceptional area for touring, hiking and cycling and the property fronts on to the New Forest National Park and deer can often be seen in our front garden (although hunting them is not allowed by law). There is an abundance of other wildlife in the forest just waiting to be found and photographed. Ringwood has its own brewery and hosts a market every Wednesday and the beautiful towns of Brockenhurst and Lymington are well worth a visit; as is Burley which is just a stones throw away. There are many good pubs in the area most of who do good pub food and some even welcome dogs. Coffee shops and restaurants are in abundance in Ringwood, you are almost spoilt for choice.
  • We stayed at Badgers Rest at the beginning of March and we couldn’t recommend both the hosts & the place enough! Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short, but the time we had at Badgers Rest was just lovely. We were greeted with such warmth and everything was explained and shown - the extra touches of PROPER coffee (thank you!) little snacks and a bottle of chilled fizz for a birthday treat was so heart warming. The house is spotlessly clean, and everything from the linen, towels, kitchen equipment is high quality. My favourite area without doubt was the bedroom - it’s spacious, cosy and just luxury. The bathroom & en-suite are top end spec too which is lovely. My husbands favourite spot of the house was the well equipped lounge, overlooking the garden to see Tilly the woofer running about. Thank you to Caroline & Kevin for a lovely time xxx

  • If you are wondering if this property lives up to the reviews, pictures and description - let me tell you it absolutely does! Wonderful place to stay - spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, all amenities and very friendly hosts, who have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Beautiful spot in the New Forest handy for all local towns and for spectacular New Forest walks. I'd say book it - you won't be disappointed!

This beautiful bed and breakfast is on the edge of the New Forest. A perfect retreat for those wanting a relaxing, peaceful getaway but also a great location for an active, healthy holiday with a host of opportunities on the door step. The lodge is set in the garden of a lovely family home, it is surrounded by fields and private woodland. You will have the entire lodge to yourselves. Tea, coffee and a delicious continental breakfast is provided for you to enjoy at your leisure.
The lodge is in the garden of our family home, which is now much quieter as the children have all grown up! It has a beautiful west facing aspect overlooking the garden and the fields beyond. Once inside, the space is totally your own as the building is not shared with anyone else. The bedroom has a very comfortable superking bed which can be made up as twin beds if requested. The room is very light and airy, with a vaulted, beamed ceiling and windows overlooking the garden. There is an en-suite toilet and separate bathroom with an over-bath shower. The sitting room has a table, chairs and a sofa which transforms into a sofa-bed, so can accommodate an extra adult or two children; the lodge would be small for 4 adults. It also has a separate toilet just off the sitting room. There is a kitchenette area where you will find crockery, glasses and cutlery as well as a fridge, good size oven, microwave, slow cooker, kettle, toaster, and a dishwasher to save any washing up! There is also a Nespresso machine for those who like coffee and variety of essential provisions. The space is great for cooking pre-prepared meals, preparing salads and snacks but really not suitable for cooking a full meal from scratch. There is Wifi and a TV with a DVD player. A selection of DVDs are also available. Outside, there is a patio with table and chairs for you to enjoy and a chiminea if you would like to make a fire. We also have a track leading a 2 acre wood which we are delighted for you to explore. There is ample parking for your car and a locked shed if you would like to store your bicycles in overnight. There are numerous restaurants and pubs in the area which offer delicious lunches and evening meals.
The beautiful New Forest is a 5 minute drive providing miles of fantastic walking, cycling and horse riding. We provide maps which show cycle routes, best pubs for pub lunches and where local cycle hire is available. We are also situated just off the Avon Valley Path. Further afield, Salisbury is 20 minutes away, where you can visit Salisbury Cathedral, Mompesson House and the museums in the Close, as well as Wilton House. A short hop further north gets you to Stonehenge. To the south lies Bournemouth and Christchurch, with many beautiful beaches which can be reached in about half an hour. Further afield there are Mottisfont House and gardens, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Bucklers Hard. Details of local attractions in and around our area are provided.
  • Lovely cottage with everything you would need, and the nice surprise of breakfast things (croissants, homemade yoghurt, jam, OJ). Incredibly comfortable bed and lovely location!

    Helena2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay, and the five star record shown is well deserved. Particularly liked the location, which gives the choice of the New Forest, sandy beaches and many interesting venues to visit. Outstanding choice of local pubs and restaurants. Karen's hospitality is outstanding.

    Jocelyn2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a fantastic place to stay, great location, facilities and hosts . The lodge is spacious, very well equipped and the bed is uber comfortable . The only slight hitch was the flooded road which looked bad but the hosts were spot on about warning beforehand and then ensuring my stay was comfortable - which it was. It's well situated on the edge of the New Forest and must be gorgeous in the summer months. Possibly the best Airbnb I've stayed in yet and i hope to be back in the future. Mark

    Patricia2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a fantastic host, she really makes you feel welcome and the property is so cosy, exactly what we needed. We brought along some pre-cooked meals and found everything we needed in the kitchen for our stay, breakfast was lovely - especially that home made yogurt! Location is fantastic, lots to do nearby. Our toddler loved exploring the on site woodland and trying all the swings. Karen's communication was brilliant throughout, she kept in touch via messages to check we had what we needed without interrupting our holiday and popped out for a chat as we were on our way out.

    Katie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z

Beautiful well equipped wooden lodge in the National Park, it has lovely views and is set in 2 acres of gardens and grounds.
It is a 2 storey open plan lodge, with continental breakfast provided. The Lodge is situated in the grounds of Croft Cottage, Godshill. It is a very well insulated oak framed wooden lodge, heated in cold weather by oil filled electric radiators or convectors in every room. It overlooks the cottage orchard on the western side and the vegetable plot and paddock on the northern side and has private parking for 2 cars. There is a bbq area for your own personal use outside the lodge and also a wendy house and a small adventure playground. In the paddock there is a small football goal, badminton and volleyball net and table tennis table.
Godshill is a small village on the North Western edge of the New Forest National Park. It is about 30 minutes drive from the beaches of the south coast and Bournemouth, the historic City of Salisbury with its Cathedral and Southampton with its popular shops. The children love Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park only 20 minutes drive and The New Forest Water Park is 15 minutes away and has water sports for children and adults.
  • Wow just wow. We had the most amazing stay. Bill was so kind letting my son feed the alpacas each morning and collecting the chickens eggs. My son didn’t want to leave. The house is spotless and the little extras like the breakfast and milk etc was a nice surprise. The bath is out of this world. It is so safe and a drive to so many beautiful spots. We drove to the George pub on the first night just 5 mins down the road and had an amazing dinner. So on our last night got a take away from there too! The kids play area at the site is so safe and you can see the kids playing from the kitchen. The property is very secure and so warm. The weather didn’t defeat us! Thank you for such a great stay. You won’t be disappointed staying here!! We have made memories we will remember forever. If you have kids then go ape is a must!

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Bill were wonderful hosts who we would highly recommended staying with, especially if you have children. Their accommodation was spotless and had everything you need inside. There is a fully kitted out kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The fridge freezer was sparkling clean and held supplies for a continental breakfast each morning with bread in the freezer. We went in February and the lodge was very warm thanks to good insulation and heaters. Every morning Bill would be outside tending to their chickens and three Alpacas and would invite our boys (who are six and two) to help feed them and collect any eggs from the hen’s coup. The alpacas are wonderful animals and both the boys enjoyed feeding them by hand. There is a large field to play games in next door and also a climbing frame, swing and Wendy house right next to the lodge. Just around the corner is Sandy Balls holiday park which has a small play area, swimming pool, restaurant and arcades. There is a small shop and a free soft play area for any rainy days! Check in and out was very easy, Bill rang me a couple of days beforehand to answer any questions we had and we arrived to find a bottle of red wine and birthday card for my wife, the reason for our stay, which was a lovely touch. The lodge has its own gate and parking right next to it so you don’t feel like you’re intruding or being overlooked. My wife was a big fan of the jacuzzi bath! All in all this was the perfect base for us in the New Forest. It’s within 30 mins of Salisbury, Bournemouth and the seaside and has plenty of stunning walks nearby. We had a wonderful stay at the lodge and will likely return again in the near future.

    Danny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful lodge which is great for families. Our hosts, Helen and Bill, were lovely. Feeding the alpacas in the morning was great fun. We also got the chance to feed the chickens and collect their freshly laid eggs. We all had such a great time and can’t thank Helen and Bill enough. Would highly recommend to others.

    John2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is the perfect family escape, Bill and Helen were excellent hosts and we hope to return soon.

    Nicola2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to stay! My children adored it and didn’t want to come home. They got to feed the alpacas in the morning and enjoyed playing in the gardens. Really lovely place to stay

    Jeff2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Lodge was an absolute dream. Helen and Bill were both so pleasant and easy to communicate with and they made our stay wonderful. The Lodge was clean, comfortable, very well equipped, and very spacious. A continental breakfast was provided along with fresh eggs from the chickens which was delightful! It was such a treat for our toddler to play in the garden and help feed the alpacas and pet the friendly pups. The location is stunning situated in The New Forest and very near to Fordingbridge. It was a completely idyllic stay and we would be delighted to come back and stay again should we find ourselves in the area!

The hot tub was an added bonus and we spent our evenings relaxing looking out over the fields, pure R&R. Thank you to Debbie for such a warm welcome, her local knowledge led us to some great pubs and food spots. Our welcome hamper of goodies kept us going on our first morning. Will be booking again in the near future.

  • Jackie was the perfect host... from the delicious treats she left in the welcome hamper to her tips and knowledge of the local area. The house was beautiful and very spacious. My children loved it so much that the my didn’t want to leave. We will definitely be back...we had an amazing time!

    Aishah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend at Jackie’s home. The pictures don’t do the house justice and we were blown away with the comfort and style of it all. It was the perfect size and Jackie gave us some great local tips on places to go, eat and walk. We cooked lovely dinners, and sat and played games by the fireplace. The beds are so comfortable and we’re all feeling sad now that we are home that we don’t have underfloor heating and we couldn’t have stayed for longer. We loved the horses and the donkeys that would come to the gate to say hi! Tiny thing - be careful on the outdoor patios after it’s rained or in the morning frost - almost all of us fell over at some point as it gets very, very slippery. Jackie’s home is outstanding and we’d recommend it to anyone a billion times over. Thank you so much for having us - it was the perfect weekend that we’ll remember forever.

  • This is a stylish house in a beautiful setting ,which was wonderfully equipped for our multi-generational family gathering. The house & garden are very geared up for children - the younger children in our party just loved playing in the garden - even in the rain ! The hot tub & the coffee machine were a big hit with the adults. There were lots of nice extra touches like a welcome hamper & fresh flowers . Jackie was an excellent host. Would thoroughly recommend this property.

  • I can highly recommend Ivy House. Our party of twelve, 3 families with adults and older teens really enjoyed our time in Blissford Hill. What a stunning location for walking and seeing the wildlife. The house is amazing, each room has been well decorated. The kitchen is beautiful and it must be lovely in the Summer to open the bifold doors and eat on the patio. We all enjoyed the hot tub whist gazing up at the stars. Jackie is a great host and has thought of lots of nice touches, including a wonderful welcome hamper. She lives not too far away if needed. There is a really nice pub The Foresters close by, although as others have said it’s up a very steep hill. We also walked to Fordingbridge along country lanes, which was pleasant.

    Andrea2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent place and host - totally exceeded my expectations! The kitchen area is to die for!

  • Great property in a perfect location for walks in the new Forest. Jackie was very attentive from the first contact and made our weekend very smooth. Would recommend for a large group of friends like us. All couples had their own space and double beds for everyone.

A warm, homely cottage for a break or a holiday. The walks of the new Forest are on the doorstep with miles of heath land to explore by foot or bike. Round off the day with a swim in the warm swim spa or simply relax in the hydrotherapy area. Featured in the Guardian online 7th January 2019 UK Cottages with pools. The AGA , oven/hob are perfect for home cooked meals or wander across to the Foresters for a delicious meal/lunch. The cottage is great for couples, families or friends to enjoy.
Detached New Forest cottage in village of Frogham. This year we have added a heated indoor swimspa to the cottage, it has 3 controllable swim jets to swim against at one end and a benched hydrotherapy area at the other. If we are full please see my sons property in Godshill the property ID is 1559993417 https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/35280566?location=Fordingbridge&checkin=&checkout=&adults=6&children=0&source_impression_id=p3_1559993417_QbCP1WrkRcCM11tL&s=hGptncKa This is our home which we used to only rent out during the school holidays, it is certainly not your bland holiday let. It has a homely, characterful feeling and is furnished accordingly. We renovated, extended and have done everything that you can say - including the garage and swimspa - we did have a crane for the pool!! For the last two years we have not rented due to our sons A levels/University commitments, but with them both now living in London we are re-advertising all-year-round. It is a home to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, step into the slow lane, with modern day facilities. Traffic is mainly locals interspersed with donkeys, ponies, horse riders, dog walkers, walkers, cyclists and the occasional classic car rally. recently featured in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2019/jan/07/20-great-uk-cottages-with-swimming-pools-family-holiday in January 2019 It has a south facing cottage garden with a private gravel drive for several cars. Within the garden there is also a fenced off pond. Due to the location within the New Forest National Park, ponies, cows and donkeys roam the surrounding roads and area - and seem to favour our driveway entrance as a sunning spot. This is a home from home, we have talktalkTV, plentiful books, dvds, games, and basically a fully functional 'everything' - because we live here when not on holiday in one of our other homes. The cottage has a traditional kitchen with an heartwarming AGA for the cool winter months. It also has a renovated 'Fordingbridge' cast iron range - which has only ever been used in power cuts - but nevertheless makes a great addition to the history of the cottage. The living room has an inglenook with functional wood burning stove. The oak staircase leads up to a landing with bookshelves and storage. One bedroom can either have 2 x 2'6" beds or a 5' double (John Lewis). The bathroom has a bath with shower over, wc and basin. There is another single bedroom with handmade oak bed with new John Lewis mattress. The double bedroom has a pocket sprung divan bed and a small en suite with wc, basin and shower. The garden is a typical cottage garden, with several seating areas throughout the garden and sun loungers in the tried and tested sun traps. If you are unsure of our credibility, check our other properties on this site - you can read the reviews to see that we do provide genuine, quality, homely holiday accommodation - they are for us too, not just for letting out! We have 2 properties in France HAUK 8106543 in Collioure on the Med which sleeps up to 4 and a villa in Arles sur Tech with a pool which can sleep up to 9. HAUK 6111932. In Switzerland HAUK 8043089,we have a chalet in the Alps which sleeps up to 8 which is advertised on Haslirent
We are in a small village which is a ribbon development. There are horses, donkeys and ponies on the road outside and a wealth of other animals in the surroundings. The area is enjoyed by walkers, cyclists, horse riders and the occasional classic car route.
  • Excellent host. Perfect home for our family we loved everything about our stay (apart from the duration, not long enough). I cannot recommend Angela’s place highly enough, with some personal touches to enhance our stay the Easter egg hunt for our girls was a highlight.

  • Lovely, clean studio in a great location with easy access to the New Forest. The bed was super comfortable and my son slept happily on the sofa bed Eva made up for him. A lovely bowl of fresh fruit was a nice touch plus coffee, tea milk etc. for the morning. This made for a perfect weekend getaway. If you get the chance I would also highly recommend one of Eva’s massages!

A very nice gesture of Eva. Also very dog friendly with all kinds of extras you'll might need for the dog. There is a great paddock outside for the dog to run in. And in the dooropening between the kitchen and the bedroom there is a stair gate you can close if you don't want your dog in the kitchen or how we used it ... to let him sleep in the kitchen at night:-)

We should have brought our own tea towels but other than that everything we needed was there and Marc was a great host; giving clear and timely instructions for check in etc

    Victoria2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great cabin in a fun location. Our two year old loved the pool and the soft play. The food was good at both the on site pub and restaurant. The lodge itself was great, very roomy, nice and warm (we went in January!) and a great power shower. Highly recommend.

  • Beautiful cabin! Had a wonderful stay!

    Lauren2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at the lodge. Would most definitely recommend it’s so clean and tidy , the master bedroom is amazing. Perfect location within walking distance from a local pub and lovely area to go on a nice stroll. Marc was a great host as his replies were very quick, even when we had an issue finding the WiFi password he was very quick to help us.

    Alicia2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is a lovely space, especially the master bedroom which is a fantastic large and really nice room. We had our 2 year old in a cot with us and there was still loads of space. It's all very new and modern and the park itself has plenty to do. Great weekend spot for families. Marc was also extremely helpful in sorting things out for us and responded really quickly.
