Places to stay in Ithaca
Just 5 mins from downtown & 10 mins from Cornell + the best waterfall in town is a two-story sunny loft with floor-to-ceiling windows, a spiral staircase, 2 patios and a private dock!
Featuring panoramic views on a loft perched high above Cayuga Lake w/access to a private dock, a fully stocked kitchen, & bright living spaces. There's a patio with a hammock for naps after a long travel or to observe the plethora of animals that live in our gardens and trees. Make sure to bring a camera with you! Although the loft faces the sunrise (which is magnificent to watch if you're an early bird), the sky during sunset paints lush salmon colors w/speckles of gold & brushstroked clouds. The owner of the property lives in the unit above the one you'll be staying at. She is a retired former NASA employee, an alumni of Cornell with a degree in Engineering, a certified Transcendental Meditation teacher, tends to her gardens on the property, and takes morning 'strolls' on her vintage rowing boat on the lake. For bookings with 4+night stays, you may book a week-long Transcendental Meditation session where right above your unit, you can learn to meditate; a highly recommended practice by many successful people. In your message, please state your interest. I am a tenant of the apartment and have thoroughly enjoyed staying here for a year now. I know this space intimately & represents a big part of me. I really, really enjoy this space a lot and so will you.
The neighborhood is a family-orientated neighborhood. While many of the lakehouses in the area, including ours, welcome guests and travelers of all kind, the atmosphere is very family friendly and we all collectively work together to maintain the homely feel. We're centrally located: going north is Taughannock Falls, a short 5-minute drive. Another 5 minutes take you to Trumansburg & the beginning of the Finger Lakes wine trails. Going south is a 2 minute drive to Hangar Theatre, Cass Park & Treman Park. Another 3 minutes takes you to downtown. Our neighborhood consists of paddleboarders, kayakers, boaters, sailers, & swimmers. We have a mascot named Jake who takes the form of a black furr-acious cat & likes to meander through the property from time to time as he makes his neighborhood rounds to say hullo to the fellow neighbors. He's not a stray so don't be alarmed. Jake has been trying to scheme his way into the house for years, but he is well-housed and well fed :] He likes to patrol & update himself with the happenings of the neighborhood and its neighbors. In addition, we have many birds, squirrels, chipmunks & plant life that call our property home. Please be respectful to them. You'll likely to see many of the animals scurrying abouts or stopping by to peek in, including a woodpecker you'll likely be hearing during your stay.
  • Zeke and Kris' space is absolutely gorgeous! Great energy and beautiful view!! Will be especially nice in the spring, summer and fall because of Lake and nature surrounding their home. Awesome experience! Very good communicators...excellent lighting...and loved the fireplace.

  • You can tell they’ve taken past reviews into consideration so don’t let the negatives deter you. They’ve added more seating and we weren’t able to see any mold like other reviews mentioned. The place itself was gorgeous with an amazing view. We couldn’t have asked for anything else. Plus the location was perfect. Far away enough that you enjoy the serenity of nature and close enough that there are a lot of delivery options! Would definitely come again when it’s warmer!

  • The view is stunning - even better than the photos. It is a nice, comfortable space and an easy drive into Ithaca, which is a lovely little college town. Perfect for our visit!

  • Very convenient location to the lake, parks, and downtown. Great views of the lake!

  • Had great stay with a few of my friends in the fingerlakes. Zeke and Kris left recommendations for places to visit nearby. The view of the lake from the apartment was gorgeous.

Surrounded by trees and the sound of Six Mile Creek, and a 7 minute walk from the Commons. This apt is in a hidden paradise in Ithaca. 1920s house with lots of character. Custom woodwork. Equipped for long and short stays. Walk to Cornell in 25 min.
Everyone that has ever taken a walk to 1st dam knows the glory of Giles St, and many remember this house in particular. The views and backyard are stunning. The custom woodwork and small touches in the Urban Cabin showcase the history of the area. It's a special place all around.
If you take a left on the street when you leave the house you can walk to the wildflower preserve and first dam in less than 10 minutes. It is really beautiful. You can see first dam from the bridge or take the steep path to the left before you reach the bridge. There is a big gate, but it is public. Bring a camera and wear good shoes. The wildflower preserve is a nice walk in the woods. Cross over the bridge and take a right down a paved hill. If you take a right on the street when you leave the house you can cross over the footbridge and go downhill on E State St to get to the Commons. It is quieter not to take the bridge. You can just walk right down Giles / Hudson Street and take a right at the end. If you're going to Cornell, our favorite path is over the footbridge, straight (slight left) on Ferris Place, at the end of Ferris Place go a little downhill to the traffic light on the intersection of Stewart Ave and E State Street. Cross over to Stewart Ave and walk about 5 minutes until you see Campus Road going uphill to your right. Cross over onto Campus Road and head uphill. Take the path on Libe Slope by the 350 year old oak tree. There's a photo of it in the Urban Cabin. It is a special tree. Sage Chapel is beautiful (see if the crypt is open in the back near the grand pipe organ), as well as the pitched tiles on the roof of Olin Library (take the stairs to the left of the library entrance and toss rocks on them to make music), the AD White reading room in Uris Library (just ask the person at the desk when you enter). Cornell is a great place to walk around. Go all the way to the Ag Quad to eat at Manndible in Mann Library and get a feel for the whole campus. Favorite happy hour: Viva Taqueria (M-F 4-6pm, $2 drafts and an outstanding tequila selection) Favorite place to have a fancy cocktail: The Argos (closes at 10pm) Favorite places to have a fancy meal: Mia's (Asian fusion on the Commons), Just a Taste (tapas just off the Commons) and Gola Osteria (classy Italian right across the footbridge. Take a right up the cobblestone path, and get buzzed in at the doors of the building nearest to the big fish statue) Favorite places for BYOB dining: Sticky Rice (closed on Mondays and only open for dinner), Tamarind (far if you're walking) Favorite places to shake our booties late night: Lot 10 (on the far end of the Commons), and The Range (on the Commons). Favorite place to get coffee: Ithaca Coffee Company (7 min walk, also has delicious beer on tap). Unique places to have tea and watch the locals: Oasis Co-op (just off the Commons) Favorite places for cheaper meals: Gorgers (messy flat bread sandwiches), Asia Cuisine (sushi, Korean, delicious), Viva Taqueria (best after a couple margaritas), Four Seasons (Korean in Collegetown), Waffle Frolic (on the Commons. Paninis! Yum!) Brunch spots: The Carriage House (10 min walk), Northstar (lovely 25 min walk through Fall Creek), Purity Ice Cream (far if you're walking, but they even have tofu scramble with kale), Cafe Dewitt (just off the Commons), Ithaca Bakery (their coffee's not great, but their sandwiches are delicious)

  • Cool place to stay in Ithaca!

    Daniel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most perfect winter getaway at the Urban Cabin! We spent as much time in the space as we did exploring Ithaca! We really appreciated the feeling of being in nature while being only a few minutes from the commons by foot. The space is well thought out with everything you might need to feel at home during your stay!

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful location and charming space indoors and out!

    Kristin2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was exactly as the description and pictures showed. Easy walking distance to all the downtown commons stuff but, felt secluded at the same time. Super quiet slept like a baby.

    Kameron2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy little Urban Cabin close enough to everything you need yet far away enough to enjoy your privacy. Check in was a breeze and our nice hosts communicated quickly to answer the few questions we had. Their suggestions were spot on. Our place was lovely, clean and very private. Loved our views from the cabin. I’d just like to add if you have a car Wegman’s is a 7 min drive and is open 24/7. It has sooo many great things. Will return again :)

Charming two-story guest cottage situated in the garden of an historic train station (ca.1830) located at the southeast corner of Cayuga Lake. I am looking for a subletter (or multiple subletters) from approximately Nov 1, 2020 to April (or possibly May) 1, 2020. $1050 per month includes everything. Message me for details.
Perfect as a writers retreat, for faculty, grads or parents visiting one of the universities, as a base of operations for outdoorsy adventuring or touring the Finger Lakes wine country - and especially for those with a penchant for historic architecture (American folk) and charming romantic spaces. Cottage has a bedroom upstairs with views of the lake, a lounge downstairs, and a bathroom. There's a mini fridge, coffee maker, tea kettle and toaster, and a tv for playing dvds, but no television service or cable. There is a ladder to get to the bedroom of the cottage. This is not ideal for those with bad knees, etc. or fear of climbing ladders. (See a picture of it in my photo album section.) There is a cat who lives on the property, he is technically not allowed in the cottage, but I know that guests sneak him over there occasionally because he's so charming - therefore, if you are highly allergic, please take that into consideration. History: The property was built ca. 1830 where it fulfilled the function of lighthouse. It was later transformed into a switchback to the railroad until sometime in the 1930s when it became a residential space. From the early sixties to the early '90s the buildings were abandoned and fell into ruin. The property was rescued from a derelict state by British visual artist Paul Chambers. From 1992 to 2002, Chambers 'recycled' the site into a work of living sculpture, and in 2007 Wylie purchased the property, which she considers to be a work of art, and maintains it in accordance with Chambers’ vision.
Close proximity to Stewart Park, the East Shore swimming beach, the Ithaca Farmer's Market, and the Cayuga Waterfront Trail.
  • An idyllic little spot with a great host!

  • It was mine and my wife’s anniversary and we were looking for a cozy type of cottage to stay in last minute. Wylie responded right away to get us all checked in with lights and heat turned on before we got there. It was exactly what we hoped for. Rustic, artsy, bohemian chic type style with an awesome collection of books to sit in the nook upstairs with and just lounge! We loved EVERYTHING about it! Very charming, simple and sweet. Thanks Wylie we will defiantly be coming back !

    Daniel2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Unique cottage. A bit drafty and rustic as advertised, lots of blankets to cozy up with.

    Sienna2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wylie’s place was perfect for our quick trip through Ithaca. Very close to downtown, the location was perfect. The bathroom was great and bed comfortable. Wylie was very responsive and check in was simple.

    Rebecca2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Be prepared to have a cozy and fulfilling stay at Wylie's cottage. It is both adorable and functional. It felt like I rented a house for the weekend! You wont regret your stay.

    Vito2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wylie’s place was so cozy and unique, my friend and I had a great experience staying at Wylie’s cottage. Wylie was fast to reply, prior our arrival, she had the heat turned on for us so it was warm when we got there. Her place is about 5 min drive from town and 15-20 min drive to most scenic areas. Wylie was very thoughtful and had a folder of recommendation of nearly everything we wanted to know. Overall we had a amazing experience staying at her place, we would definitely be coming back here again next year in the spring/summer!

    Miriam2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I came to Ithaca for a graduate audition and interview during a time when a snowstorm hit. The place was warm and cozy, and there is even a small porch outside. The location of this place is not too far from everything, with everything being in a walkable distance (<20 minutes). This includes Downtown/Commons and even a few fast food places. One thing that caught me by surprise: George messaged me and kept me updated about the driving situation in Ithaca, such as the bus system and update of the college, during the storm and asked if everything was okay! That sincerety and thoughtfulness meant a lot to me. I hope to be able to visit and stay at this same place in a future trip! - Ben

A private room with 2 beds! Great comfortable room in convenient location for travelers, close to bus stop, CVS and wegmans. Commons is walking distance or biking distance away!
Brand new carpet floors, bright and minimalist, non clutter.
Close to the strip malls, commons, and Southside community center.
  • Jack's place is in a great location - as first time Ithaca visitors we were glad to be close to downtown! Parking wasn't an issue like I thought it might be. There was plenty of parking in front of the house and on the street to the right of the house as well. The room gets some street noise. It wasn't a problem for me but if you're a light sleeper just be aware! All in all a good stay. You can't beat the price and location!

    Doug2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and easy check in

    Matthew2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Let me talk about the advantages first: Check in was very convenient. Even if we arrived at the destination quite late, we could successfully check in by self check-in. As for the location, it is very convenient for tourists who have cars or rent a car. There is a large area of parking spaces nearby. I didn't see the host during the whole process, but we cleaned up and saw everything. The hostess was very enthusiastic. They introduced us in detail and gave us some suggestions on how to play in Ithaca. The disadvantages are also obvious: The first is a slightly slow response, and the second is some doubt whether the landlord understands Chinese as much as in airbnb's self-introduction: the reason is that the messages I write in Chinese will never return, and only when I ask questions in English will I be slow Reply me. In this regard, as a Chinese, I feel very dissatisfied. The second is sound insulation, because the listing contains 4 rooms and shares bathrooms, but the sharer has strong uncertainty. Our second night experience was very bad because we met a roommate who was very noisy late at night. But because it ’s not the host ’s fault, I can only blame it for the poor sound insulation. Above, I hope the host Bonne continuation

  • I love staying here. This is the second year I’ve stayed in Sarah’s space during the holidays and, once again, I had a wonderful time with my dogs. Sarah goes above and beyond to make sure her guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The rooms are spotless; the bedding and bathroom linens are crisp and clean. The location makes it easy to access all parts of downtown Ithaca by car, bike, or on foot. There’s plenty of free street parking.

  • We’ve stayed at Sarah’s place a few times before and, as usual, we loved it! It’s adorable, easy to get to, and close to plenty of stuff in Ithaca. Highly recommended.

Both are easily accessible via bus stops a block or two away.
  • Outstanding. We are walkers, so we loved it that we could hike up to Cornell as well as the Ithaca Commons rather easily. The space is stylish, with books I wish I had more time to thumb through. Well stocked kitchen. Excellent communication.

  • This is by far the most cozy and wonderful place we have stayed at. I can't say enough about the hosts and their hospitality. You'll be extremely lucky to stay here should they have an open date to accommodate you. I'd give it more than five stars if that were possible.

  • Kathrin’s apartment is in the perfect location - 20 minutes walk to Cornell, five minutes or less to downtown, five minute drive to Ithaca College. The apartment is beautifully designed and decorated and Kathrin truly thought of everything for the kitchen, the bath, and everywhere else. A fantastic stay and I didn’t want to leave.

    Alexa2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem in Ithaca. Steps away from the bars/restaurants downtown and a really cute space. Kathrin made sure we had everything we needed and was very responsive. You won’t regret staying in this apartment!

    Katie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kathrin’s place is so cute and comfortable with thoughtful touches throughout. The location is fantastic.. walking distance to the Commons and the house was easy to find with accessible parking. Kathrin was pleasant and easy with communication. I would recommend her place to any solo traveler or couple looking for lodging in the Ithaca area.

The guest room is located downstairs, close to the shared bathroom. It offers a comfy full-sized mattress, a personal desk, and reading area perfect for any traveler looking for sanctuary. An LGBTQ household, shared with two incredibly friendly cats. We have a full kitchen to share with you, and a gorgeous, lush backyard right in the heart of historic Fall Creek. A 10 minute walk to downtown/the commons, nestled between Ithaca Falls and Cascadilla Falls. This charming house is not new/modern.
We suggest reading this whole description! I'm a graduate student at Cornell and my partner Kate works at a nonprofit. We are a supportive LGBTQ household with two very friendly cats. We are quiet, warm and fun! We love hosting other people, but we do work out of the house most of the day. The room itself is sweet and comfortable, perfect for a good night's rest to explore beautiful Ithaca. Here are some things you should also know about the space: The door to the guest room is a bit clunky. It has an interior lock, but not an exterior lock. It opens into the TV room, which you are more than welcome to use. We don't have cable but you can hook up your laptop via HDMI cable to screen Netflix etc. The room itself will have a window AC unit, and there will be an additional AC unit in the shared space, but the house itself can get warm during peak summer (mostly August). The house is like a big cottage, incredibly charming but definitely not modern. It was built in the 1800s and has certainly been updated here and there. If you appreciate historic houses, you'll like this one. The sidewalks out front are the original slate, untouched! That being said, the kitchen hasn't had any work done since the 80s probably: though it has everything you would need to make a delicious meal (fridge, stove, sink, counter area), it is, simply put, old! The bathroom is shared. It's updated, but small. The backyard is gorgeous in the summer. We garden, so it is lush, green, and filled with vegetables and herbs. Laying outside in the afternoon sun and reading is definitely one of my favorite activities. We have a fire-pit, and we always have fresh logs for the fire for you. We are a 10 minute walk to beautiful Ithaca Falls, Cascadilla Falls, Little Greenstar Grocer, and the Downtown/Commons area where you can eat and drink at some of the best restaurants in town. Please, ask us for recommendations!
  • A really lovely spot to stay. I was allowed to rest after a busy conference and the home is rather charming. The value is surreal. I would definitely recommend.

    Isaac2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is old but very cozy in a very safe neighborhood. Less than 15 minutes walk to Ithaca Commons, Cornell University as well as to Ithaca Falls Natural Area. Also, Lisa and Kate are very friendly and kind.

    Chiachi2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great house! So close to the commons. Super value and loved the cats! :)

    Jason2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's house is cosy but not claustrophobic. We felt very welcome there. If you need ikea-chic it's tge wrong address, this very much is their individual house and it truly felt like staying at a friend's guest room - just what BnB is supposed to be like!

    Cora2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Taking care from the arrival time to local tips, everything is much better than the expectation that too in far away from my native place where I was helpless without their co-operation

  • Great place just off the Cornell campus. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Ithaca. Lisa and Kate are perfect hosts!

    Rahul2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Kate were very friendly and they even invited me to the party their were hosting while I was there, in which I met very cool people. The house was very stylish and clean and very well decorated. It is also a very good location in Ithaca. Definitely recommend staying there.

  • GREAT AIRBNB. Private, peaceful, and great location. The advise about what to do in Ithaca was great! I have been a student in Ithaca for 4 years and didn’t know about most of the great places Isabel and Zac recommended. The room was so cute and had everything we could ever want. Water and the bath soaps smelled really good. 10/10

  • Perfect stop for us to get away for a week. Based on the other reviews here most people are here for a few days but we loved having a week just as much. There was no one else there during half of our trip and even when others did show up we only saw them once. Parking was amazingly easy and we ended up leaving the car parked most of the time we weren’t hiking and just walking everywhere. Very convenient space and all the coffee was a huge plus for us! We will be staying again when we come back for our next trip!

Convenient west end location in Ithaca. One parking spot for guest. This house is close to everything. The bedroom is comfortable and spacious. Hosts live upstairs and guests will have their privacy. We are between two roads leading out of Ithaca. The suite is located in the back of the house and there is a moderate amount of traffic noise at times from the back porch.
The entrance to this suite is from the back porch. The parking lot is to the right of the house with a sidewalk leading to the back door. When you enter the space, there is a kitchenette with complimentary water, hot drinks and scones. NEW: Out of concern for the environment, we discontinued providing plastic single/use water bottles and now have a hot/cold water dispenser. Continuing into the bedroom you'll find a queen size bed, a Queen Anne desk, cable TV, a luggage stand, two comfy chairs, a full length mirror and an open closet. The bathroom has all the essentials.
Our Airbnb is located on West Hill in Ithaca. Within walking distance are restaurants, Island Fitness Center, the Inlet with a place to rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. We are only a few minutes from Wegmans (America's favorite grocery store!) and many of the big box stores. If "big box" is not your style, it's a 20 minute walk to The Commons where there are many local mom and pop establishments, as well as Moosewood Restaurant of Moosewood cookbook fame. Ithaca has a good bus system and you can catch a bus across the street from our house at 20 minutes before the hour.
  • Joan and Nelson were so sweet and very accommodating. Their place was comfortable, and very close to all of the spots we like to visit in Ithaca! We would loved our stay, and will be back next time we visit!

    Valerie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I can't speak highly enough about this place. The room is very special. It is simple and homey and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The whole room as a nice feel to it. The windows face east so there is a nice view across the valley to Cornell from the bedroom windows. There is a cable television in the room and WiFi, with good and strong connectivity. The bathroom connects right to the bedroom and is spacious and well organized. The shower is big and the water was plenty hot when called for. The other portion of the space is a little 'kitchen' area. There is no cooking stove, but there is kettle for hot water, small refrigerator, microwave, sink, cabinet, etc. The hosts provide tea, coffee, scones, which was a very nice touch. There is heating stove in this area that warms up the whole basement. It hovered around 10 F at night when I was there, but I was warm and comfortable inside. There is private entrance to the space, and although the room connected to the house via a staircase, I felt I had complete privacy. The parking spot is great, and the home is very close to downtown Ithaca - even walkable if you are inclined. Yet, I did feel like I was away from everything when I was there. The house is located on Route 79 but it was very quiet, particularly at night. Joan and Nelson are very nice people and their goodness fills the house. Check-in and check-out were easy. I would definitely stay there again (I miss it in fact) and I recommend it.

  • Our recent stay was a return visit, which speaks to how much we like Joan's place. We feel very at home there. The room is pleasantly decorated with comfortable furnishings and lots of books on many topics. Importantly the bed is comfortable. We appreciated the private entrance around the back of the house and enjoyed the view across town to the Cornell campus. We hope to stay again next time we visit Ithaca.

Everyone welcome! Last-minute/short stays are ok! Sunny 1BR apt on Ithaca's west hill features a queen bed, large windows, a Japanese-style jacuzzi (agility required, see pics), turbo Internet, A/C, and valley views from bedroom. Walk to restaurants, parks, and stores. Cornell is a 10 min drive. This is a private (not shared) apartment. You will be the only one with a key. Note for Cornell graduation - pricing is higher this weekend, but if you book 2 nights, you will get night 3 for free!
The apartment is bright and comfortable, warm in the winter, and cooled by natural breezes or air conditioning in the summer. The great room is for both living and dining and has both high ceilings and tall windows that let in the sun. The beautiful wood-grain-themed bedroom has all the built-ins you'll need and a comfortable queen-sized bed. The galley kitchen features a fridge with a large freezer, a stove, an oven, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a two-basin sink. You have your own separate entrance and bathroom. A washer and dryer are on the premises. The living room has a 32" Samsung HDTV a Samsung DVD player, a couple hundred channels of cable, and a Roku 3 box with free Netflix and HuluPlus streaming. The futon couch in the living room can be folded out into a full-sized bed. There's a shared deck with tables and chairs outside for eating and socializing with a view of Cornell University across the valley. Only two steps up into the apartment! Please note that the Japanese-style jacuzzi tub does require some agility to get into and out of for both baths and showers (see pictures). For the business traveler, the great room table can easily be set up for video-conference meetings and presentations over blazingly fast Internet using the provided HDTV, webcam, and high-end speaker/microphone combo. Other business amenities are also available. The apartment is 400 sq. ft. which is comfortable for two and cozy for four if you like each other. If you need more room, my other Airbnb apartment "Retro-Awesome & Spectacular View" adjoins: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2665859
The neighborhood is residential, on a hill with beautiful views of Ithaca, Cornell, the Cayuga Inlet, and Cayuga Lake. It's a ten minute walk to parks, shopping, and restaurants.
  • Kit's place was exactly what we wanted for a relaxing Winter visit to Ithaca. It was a cozy and comfortable place to enjoy a nice snow storm! -Kit got the driveway shoveled right away. Lakefront Guest Studio provides excellent views of Cayuga Lake, Cass Park and marinas all from the comfortable interior or private deck. Make use of the lakefront dock and swimming access. We are located at the base of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail so you can get the full FLX experience!
This studio was designed specifically with guests in mind and provides a California King bed (very comfortable) along with dining area and kitchenette. Large en-suite bathroom offers jetted tub, big enough for 2 and a rainfall shower. Enter thru private deck complete with lounge chairs and cafe seating. Beautiful views of the lake especially at dawn and dusk. Kitchenette provides a sink and fridge but no stove. Everything you would need to make coffee is provided including the coffee! Tea, toaster, and microwave also available. The house is built into the cliff side. There is a dock and lakeside available for your use including a variety of kayaks available. The lake front is shared with us, your hosts, or potentially other guests. There are several sets of stairs that you must use to access the apartment and the lake so it's best if you're prepared for that and don't mind. We are located adjacent to the Black Diamond Trail - a 10 mile trail for hiking and biking. We are located a 1 min drive or 5 min walk to Cass Park and Treman Marina and the Ithaca Dog Park as well. We don't mind if you bring your dog and there is a potty spot, but be aware we do have other dogs on site - very friendly but if your dog is not you might want to make other arrangements. Let us know in your booking request if you'll be bringing a dog. There are a few other living units in the property and it's likely we as the hosts will be in residence there as well as other guests in another suite. We are happy to help you find local attractions or talk about your trip and plans while you are here. It's also fine if you like your privacy.
The house is one of the first houses on the West side of the lake. So we are close to Cass Park which has lots of rec trails for running, biking, skating, dog walking etc. Adjacent to Black Diamond Trail. Treman Marina and dog park are a 5min walk. Other lake houses have docks and houses close by so you may or may not see the neighbors.
  • Beautiful studio so close to downtown! Loved waking up to a view of the lake. Everything was clean and cozy; the studio even smelled amazing when we arrived! Jes even provided freshly ground coffee. The hosts live upstairs so there was some noise but they were very considerate. King bed is super comfortable! Would love to stay again during summer.

  • My boyfriend and I took a few steps into the apartment, looked out at the beautiful lake and then we both said "I wish we could stay forever." The space is exactly as it appears in pictures and yet even better than that. I sent the link to 3 friends while we were still staying there and told them all that they had to come stay. I can only imagine how gorgeous this spot is in the summer- though we plan to find out!

    Meg2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jes's place was absolutely beautiful. The view, the king size bed, the bathroom, were all amazing. Highly recommend renting from Jes when visiting the area. Perfect location. Perfect space for a weekend getaway.

The apartment is fully furnished with a living room/dining room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. There is a private entrance accessible by outdoor stairs. We have easy access to downtown Ithaca and off-street parking for one car in our lot across the street. Entry to the apartment requires descending a flight of stairs (see photos). Our family lives upstairs and we can easily respond to any issues that may arise.
  • This apartment was so perfect, I almost wish I could’ve stayed more than one night! It was spotlessly clean, cozy, and had more room then we knew what to do with. Perfect location on a quiet street. I would absolutely recommend this stay for anyone visiting Ithaca!

Great location and affordable for a space with its own kitchen and bathroom! compare to $100 or more for hotel spaces. Plus you can make your own meal
Close to the strip malls, commons, and Southside community center.
  • Very clean, very few frills. Comfortable bed, good water pressure, extremely convenient location. Would stay here again.

  • We stayed here for a weekend during the winter. The place was exactly as it was shown in the pictures. The hosts were very quick in responding to any questions that we had. The property was clean, and tidy. The location was very convenient since was very close to CVS and Wegmans. Restaurants are a pretty close drive as well. The neighborhood also had ample amount of available car parking. We hiked at the Watkins glen state park and the Taughannock state park during our stay, and the drive was not very long. Which further speaks to the convenient location. The place is a good value for money and I may consider it again when I visit Ithaca

Cozy 3BR house located in downtown Ithaca. Offstreet parking. Spacious yard. Easy walking distance to the Farmers Market, Purity Ice Cream, and to the Commons. Fully equipped kitchen, dining room and den. On site amenities include: WiFi, two computers, washer/dryer, oven, cooking gear, full sized fridge, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, fresh towels and linens. Perfect for familes, students and larger groups for extended stays.
Located across the street from the Quaker meeting house, this property is one of the few in the area with a huge backyard. Perfect for family barbeques. Can comfortably lodge up to five people, 408 Madison has all the amenities, including great WiFi and a computer. A fully equipped kitchen saves on dining costs, and makes for a "homely" atmosphere. Having a washer/drier on site is convenient for longer term stays, and saves a trip to the laundromat.
Ideally located, this house is just a five to ten minute walk from the Ithaca Farmers Market, and a ten to 15 minute walk to the commons. A convenience store and bowling alley are just a block away, as is a discount grocery store. A beautiful, child-friendly park is less than a block away and tons of restaurants are nearby.
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Jeremy's place for one night on Valentines Day. It was quiet, peaceful and felt very homey. We had the whole place to ourselves! Everything was clean, organized and very well placed. We had no issues. I would highly recommend!

  • If you want cold and impersonal, this is not the place. If you want to spread out and feel at home, it's great. There were lots and lots of HBA's. The coffee maker is very small, so if you're an addict, you'll have to be patient. The location is extremely convenient, walkable to downtown, and feels safe. Entry is easy and communication was swift. Enjoy being at home in this place!

    Karin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • This kitchen has enough plates, silverware and glassware for the number of guests it claims to hold. There were so many extra blankets!!! and towels!!! The house was plenty warm enough but we were so grateful for all the extra blankets. The weather was miserable when we visited and after a day in the freezing rain, it was wonderful to curl up on the couch and several really warm blankets. We hppe to stay here again!

Guest suite on the first floor of the house. Shares main porch entry way, but otherwise it's own Suite! 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and living room with TV, Table, Microwave and Mini Fridge. Adorable little space.
8 minutes by foot to Ithaca's commons! Also one block away from all the new restaurants in Ithaca, such as Maru Ramen, Francos Pizza and Westys as well as the classic Saigon Kitchen, State Diner, Taste Thai Express
  • I’ve stayed several times at JackSun’s Airbnb’s. They’re always remarkably clean, have thoughtful touches like toothpaste and soap, and are really very comfortable and well decorated. I am never disappointed. I travel quite often between cities in upstate NY, and when I see JackSun’s name associated with a place, I feel confident it’s going to be a hassle-free, and comfortable stay.

The Lavender House is located on a wonderful tree lined street in the middle of downtown Ithaca. The Ithaca Commons is a three block walk from the front door. As well as a stylishly appointed decor that includes tons of original artwork you will find a charming garden with a picnic table. The house is from the early 1900’s and has been recently updated with brand new hardwood floors and new bathroom (kept the old claw foot tub). You are conveniently close to all the attractions of downtown and can also easily get out to the many gorgeous hiking areas and wine trails. Our famed Wegmans food market is also a short walk away. Your host is an artist and former chef. His barn studio and open air exhibition space is five acres of bucolic land with a pond that overlooks downtown ithaca and the universities. You are welcome for a visit. There you can see his stone carvings presented in a beautiful garden setting. Currently he is converting a 1966 Airstream into a printmaking studio. As a former chef with strong ties to the local culinary scene, your host can be easily cajoled into preparing a meal during your stay.
The Southside is truly Ithaca’s diverse neighborhood. The Lavender House is located across the street from the Southside Community Center which is the heart of the community located in a charming WPA era building.
  • A lovely house filled with light and art and plants. Welcoming hosts. Great location to the Commons. Quiet neighborhood. The bed is so very comfortable. On street parking easy.

  • The location is excellent. Clean and convenient. Can’t really ask for more in this price range. Sean gave me personal recommendations based on my requests.

    Nicole2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • As a first-time Airbnb guest I had no idea what to expect, but the Lavender Room was a lovely experience. The house was lived in without being messy or sterile like a hotel room. Sean's housemates were polite and welcoming. The room we stayed in was comfortable and neatly furnished with plenty of natural light and lamp lighting. Sheets, pillows, blankets and towels were clean and professionally stocked. I personally slept like a rock! We will be visiting the Lavender Room the next time we stay in Ithaca!

Our 100 year old home is in the heart of downtown Ithaca. Creative design, interesting art, fun antiques, and rich with character. We provide a clean, safe, friendly and convenient place from which to explore Ithaca and Central NY.
You will find your private room to be comfortable and clean with fresh filtered water, a double/full size bed and fun antique furniture. Located on the second floor, room amenities include a dresser, mirror, nightstand, reading chair and lamps. We provide clean sheets, towels, a robe and slippers. The closet has enough room to hang anything you might need and to store a moderate amount of luggage. Shared bathroom is only feet away with a large antique clawfoot tub, spacious layout, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and towels. The half bathroom is located on the first floor, with hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Guests have access to the first and second floor of our home, and share the full bathroom on the second floor and the half bathroom on the first floor. This is a 100 year old home and sometimes you may hear us or other guests walking upstairs. It's likely that most of the time you won't hear anyone, but it is something to be aware of.
Our house is in the heart of downtown Ithaca, we've lived here for 14 years and love it. Guests coming from cities tend to find the area quiet and charming, while those those coming from the suburbs tend to find it edgy and alive. We of course think it's is the best location in town. Don't expect polished home exteriors. The neighborhood is somewhat urban, sometimes lively, and always safe, friendly and culturally diverse. Working class families rub elbows with Cornell professors and massage therapists, and your favorite baristas share the sidewalks with loitering kids and community center volunteers. We are walking distance to the commons, shopping, great grocery stores, playgrounds, trails, and awesome coffee shops. The area is loaded with excellent restaurants and convenient to all area attractions. Parking near the house is amply available, safe and free.
  • We stayed two nights and unfortunately did not meet Alexis or Mark, however they were very quick to respond to my messages. The bedroom and house were cozy and charming. There were three other bedrooms upstairs, two of which were occupied by two other guests; the upstairs full bath was shared by all - the bathroom was very nice and there were no issues in sharing among four people. The house is a great location for walking to Cornell, the Commons, and nearby trails. Check-in/check-out were super easy. Thanks, A&M!

    Kristin2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Alexis & Mark's place! The place was exactly as pictured and the hosts left clear instructions and were quick to respond to messages. The location of the place is great. Would highly recommend!

    Eva2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Mark are awesome, genuinely friendly and caring hosts, who are present enough to make you feel welcome, but in a way that also allows a sense of space. The house is lovely, an historic home in central Ithaca, a blending of antiques and modern/artistic flair that is cozy and interesting. I slept the best I have in years in this house and all of this was enhanced by Alexis and Mark helping me in many ways that I would never have expected. Excellent home with even better hosts!

    Andrew2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Mark's house is whimsical and eclectic, full of books, history, and art. The moment I stepped in the door, I was Wow'd by the warmth of the house and its friendly welcoming. Their house became a retreat and was thoroughly inviting! The bedroom and other house amenities were beautiful and very comfortable. I would highly recommend staying at A & M's house for its central location, to experience Ithaca by foot and be captivated by a house full of personality, care, and culture.

    Michele2020-01-08T00:00:00Z

This is a huge, sun-filled, airy, breezy apartment with original hardwood floors & woodwork, floor to ceiling windows and 10' ceilings. It is on the second floor of our historic home in Downtown Ithaca, two blocks away from the Commons. The sun streams in and lights up this space all day long. The 3 season porch off of the bedroom is the perfect place to unwind anytime with a cocktail or a cup of tea and a book. There is a heater out there in the fall and winter, allowing it to be used year round (this is my favorite room in the whole house!). The main bedroom has a double bed, and the other room has three twin beds (all with new, super comfortable mattresses). We are also able to bring in more beds for bigger groups. Just let us know what works best for you and your group when you book. This apartment can sleep 8: it’s a little tight with all the beds, but it can definitely be done. We’ve done it in the past resulting in very happy guests (Big Hugs to Becky & Crew! ♥️) If you are interested in hosting a party (graduation, wedding, reunion or any other kind of event here), please message me with the details so we can figure out what works best for you and your group!

The Commons is populated by countless restaurants, coffee house, shops and entertainment - there is something for everyone! We are also within walking distance to the many local festivals and concerts for which Ithaca has become famous! • could not wait to stay at sarah’s place again!! the place is absolutely beautiful and filled with so much character, and sarah is honestly the best host i have ever had! 100/10 would recommend :)

    Elijah2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's place is optimally located to explore Ithaca and its surrounding area. I've now stayed in all three rooms available and each one has its own appeal. Sarah provides everything a traveler needs from an Airbnb--it's not an impersonal place to stay by any stretch of the imagination. My dog is welcomed every time with a fresh water bowl at the ready--that means a lot to me.

    Judith2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Charming house, close to everything, will definitely be staying again!

    David-Josiah2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great historic house that is dog friendly. Within easy walking distance of the downtown area of Ithaca. Quick and easy check in. Sarah was very responsive and efficient. Plenty of parking. Would recommend.

    Jett2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We just had a quick trip to Ithaca and Sarah's place was perfect for us and our toddler. Sarah was very communicative from the start of the reservation and even helped us with an early check-in. She was readily available and quick to respond and helpful during our stay. The location is on a quiet street very close to everything central Ithaca has to offer. The apartment is very cozy and is decorated with a very inviting vintage style with a lot of character. Plenty of space for us to lounge and could certainly handle larger groups. The bed was comfy and we slept great. The temperature was always perfect, we never felt too warm or cold, which is not easy to do in an old building in Upstate, NY. Next time we will stay longer.

    Damien2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's house was great - we were only in town for one night, but the space would be sweet for a few people spending more time in Ithaca and the surrounding area. Super comfortable bed, fully equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, full size fridge, toaster, Keurig,) and thoughtful details like disposable razors in the bathroom. The parking was easy, and the property is located within a short walk to downtown. I appreciated Sarah's great communication, her tour of the space (including emphasis on fire exits - I've never had a host note safety details before!) and for meeting us at check in to assist with entry / exit. Oh, and the space was dog friendly - this is a deal sealer for us! Thanks, Sarah!

    Kerrie2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, unique apartment that’s very conveniently located to mostly everything in Ithaca. There were also lots of suggestions for places to eat, including an entire page of vegan suggestions! Very dog friendly and no pet fee.

  • Sarah's place was divine. Lots of unique warm touches made us want to extend our stay!

Sunny one bedroom apartment in a diverse and fashionable neighborhood. We're less than a 10 minute walk to grocery stores, the weekend waterfront Farmer's Market, the Waterfront Trail, and the Sciencenter museum. Walk a little more in the opposite direction (15-20 minutes) and find yourself in the business center of Ithaca, the Commons, where you'll find boutiques, restaurants, and nightlife.
The Airbnb apartment is private and complete, and includes use of the shared backyard beyond the apartment's back door.
Northside Neighborhood in downtown Ithaca stands out for its diversity and its mix of residential and business properties. Despite being on an extremely quiet street, you'll find stores, restaurants, and markets within a couple blocks of the apartment, and the Ithaca Commons is an easy twenty minute walk away. Lots of natural light and pleasant views from windows make this place a comfortable and restful retreat. I would certainly recommend it to other travelers.

A beautiful 2 bedroom home in downtown Ithaca. Our house is perfectly located within walking distance to the Commons, a four-block pedestrian shopping area with over 100 unique shops, restaurants, street vendors & street entertainers. Coming to visit Cornell University or Ithaca College? Both are only a 7 minute drive away, or catch the bus from a stop right at the corner.
Enjoy our blazingly fast WiFi, or enjoy Netflix on our 55" 4k TV. In our kitchen you'll find ample cookware, as well as a Bonavita coffeemaker and Nespresso machine for all of your caffeine needs. Also make sure to enjoy our reading room, and two charming, air conditioned bedrooms upstairs. In nice weather, relax, eat or just sip a cup of coffee or tea on the back patio. Note that there's a small in-law unit connected to the house, which I rent out separately.
  • The accommodations were great. Probably the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. Very clean, spacious, great location. I’m a Professional Organizer and Stager and I thought it was styled perfectly. I would not hesitate to recommend!

It's an easy walk down to the commons, and we had a fantastic meal just a few blocks away at The Rook (and a great IPA at Liquid State Brewing, also just a few blocks away). Charming historic train station (ca.1830) located near the southeast corner of Cayuga Lake, across the street from Stewart Park, the Visitor Center and the Cayuga Waterfront Trailhead. This house is not for everybody. It has a rustic, bohemian vibe. There is a flight of stairs leading to the bedroom. For stays of 5 days or longer please contact me first before instant booking.
There is one very friendly cat named Blue who lives on the property. He was a stray who chose the property as his forever home during the summer of 2014. He hates to leave the property and refuses to get in a cat carrier, so ideally, guests must feed and pet him. If this isn't possible, I can arrange for someone else to stop by and feed him.
Walking distance to the East Shore swimming beach. Across the street from the Cayuga Waterfront Trailhead and Stewart Park. Biking distance or 30-minute walk to the Ithaca Farmer's Market.
  • Cute, cozy little cottage. Has everything you need. Blue came outside to invite us in; Talkative and has great manner. Would come back if visit Ithaca again.

  • The most unique little place! I felt so at home here, so at ease, and at peace. Wylie’s place is incredibly stylish with bohemian vibes and she is a wonderful host. Bleu was also the best snuggler and so friendly! Definitely cannot wait to return !

    Riley2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wylie’s place is exactly as advertised- it was a great spot to stay when I returned to my old stomping grounds in Ithaca and is convenient to everything. Plus, Blue is a charmer.

    Clifton2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were looking for something unique and close to all that Ithaca has to offer and we found it! Wylie’s place offers a little history, artistic and travel inspired decor, a cozy cabin feel and a sweet and friendly cat! It was 10 min or less from downtown (we took an Uber in one night) and sits just across from the lake and park. You do hear traffic but it died down by the time we were going to bed. A train passed by one evening but again, not an issue for sleeping. The bed was comfy and while we didn’t need to run it most of the time, the heat warms the house quickly on chilly nights. Wylie was very responsive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

    Christina2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Central and a good value. The kitty has a lot to say and is a total sweetheart. We were worried about the noise from the main road but it was quiet at night and not nearly as loud as it was during the day.

    Becky2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We were enchanted by this place. It is a unique space, cosy and artistic and very functional. We loved the upstairs porch, the pretty trees, the comfy bed. Every thing was great and Blue was great company.

  • Great spot right on the water and 5 minutes away from downtown Ithaca. Enjoyed being so close to amenities but felt far away from it. Driveway is very steep (I drive manual so it was tricky getting out of the driveway) but thankfully we were prepared thanks to the handbook. Visited the town, Taughannock, and Finger Lakes cider house, all quite close. Would recommend even for a short stay like ours.

    Victoria2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This house is so lovely, and the view and access to the lake really can't be beat. The house has lovely amenities - a great kitchen, nice bathroom, and comfortable beds. Everything was VERY clean, which I sometimes worry about with rentals that allow pets. Carolyn made great suggestions regarding restaurants and local amenities. We ate at the recommended Thai restaurant Tamarind, and it was really wonderful. I would stay at this house again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

  • The Lake house was the perfect spot for our long weekend getaway to explore Ithaca and Cayuga lake wineries! The house offers plenty of views of the lake, so even on a rainy day you can enjoy it! Carolyn is very detailed with instructions, which is helpful as we really had no questions on getting to/in and staying at their place. Stunning views we will never forget! Thanks so much for opening your special place up for people to visit!
