We stood at Marco´s Surf Camp for eight days and had all in all an extra-ordinary time. Unusual to common AirBnB was the setting: Marco owned a couple of flats belonging to the Coral Reef Resort and we had understandably a shared access to the services/premisses of the resort. Breakfast and Wifi were included when be booked and charged extra by the hotel. Wife-Connection varied, with an extra-connection for 20$/w that Marco´s Surf-Camp generously supplied. The staff was very friendly and tried its utmost possible to make up for the culinary level of supply. The view at the beach was a delight and access to the sea was within a stone´s throw. When parting, a tax-fee of 2$/d might be paid, common to this AirBnB location. THANK YOU MARCO for unforgettable impressions!!!

We had a pleasant stay at Surfescape. The location is excellent. Marco is an excellent host.

Excellent setting and an added bonus of being able to take advantage of the amenities of the Coral Reef Resort. Swimming pool was large and completely clean. Room was very large as was the bed. Mosquito net was perfect size and did not disturb my sleep as some mosquito nets in Africa have done. Felt like I got more than my money's worth.

Location is great with adjoining coral reef resort. Private surfscape break is so relaxing. The room is clean with mosquito nets. Kitchenette is ok for simple easy to cook meals. Knives were a bit dull. Eating area outside the room was perfect. Plenty of other travellers passing through also great place to make friends.

Great place to stay for a quiet getaway! As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and had a comfortable, peaceful stay. Only minor issues with the WIFI, but otherwise a lovely experience. Marco is a great host and does a great job making sure his guests are looked after. Would certainly recommend!

Marco's place is fantastic, even better than what the ad suggests. The place is clean, confortable, by a nice beach, you simply feel good there. And Marco answered my multiple questions promptly and always in good mood. His help concerning renting a car, and local activities made a difference. You can use the facilities of Coral Reef, but we had no need for that, we were extremely happy in Surferscape.

Clean, cozy bungalow with everything you need to explore Zanzibar paradise. Great place to chill, enjoy nature and amazing ocean, very good contact with a friendly host. Sometimes we had little problems with wifi connection, but that's nothing compared to all the beauty and charms this place has to offer. We strongly recommend! Our honeymoon there was fantastic :)

I stayed with my 6 year old daughter in Marco's place. Marco has few huts on the side of an old hotel resort - a charming and quiet spot for water sport lovers. It is true value for money. The rooms are simple, clean and equipped with a fan that combined with the night breeze from the ocean is enough to make you sleep well. We had a great time during our stay and could use facilities belonging to the resort including the pool, bar and restaurant. The local restaurant serves few, basic dishes to choose from 3 times a day. So if you have kids staying in the pool all day and they get hungry between 12.00 and 19.30 stuck on some fruits and snacks beforehand as the local shops are few kilometers away.

If you want to stay in a large clean room with own bathroom and view on the ocean, on a spot where you can find fishermen and where you can walk to see a beautiful coral reef, you should definitely book at this place! Great value and hospitality by Marco and his team!

We enjoyed the stay at Marco's place very much. The location of the bungalow is great, in a calm and beautiful area just in front of Pwani Mchangani beach. Don't miss out on the beautiful sunrise! It is also not far from other cool places in Zanzibar such as Mnemba Island (great spot for snorkeling). The bungalow is a part of a very nice resort called Coral Reef, so all its facilities are available - pool, bar, restaurant, wi-fi, security, etc. The room is very nice and spacious, it can host easily up to 4 people. Huge comfy bed, kitchenette, big bathroom with hot water (not always easy to find in Zanzibar!) and a cozy private terrace. Also it was really clean and the staff of the hotel is really attentive to details. All this at a very affordable price! Marco and also Alizé were cool and welcoming guests. We had the chance to hang out with them and we really had a good time. All in all, a great place for some relaxing holidays in Zanzibar. We just regret we didn't stay longer at Marco's place!

Marco's place is very quiet and chilled. Amazing view from terrace and also very clean. Quite few people were complaining about food in resort but we can't say anything negative about it. Bungalows are easy to find even during the night. I hope we will return soon.

We spent two nights at Marco's and had a lovely stay. The rooms, clean and quiet, are located on the territory of a nice hotel and have access to pool, bar, beach and restaurant. The pool is really nice and the view amazing. Small disadvantage, high tide was all the time at dinner time and it's not possible to walk on the beach to eat somewhere else, and the restaurant is quite expensive compare to the quality.

Surf escape was excellent, Marco and Deborah are excellent hosts and the accommodation was excellent and affordable.

The room Marco offers is really nice! The rooms are spacious and clean. U can make use of The swimming pool of The coral reef hotel. Als the sea is really close! We had a great stay! Marco is friendly and helpfull. We only would recommend to eat outside and not in The coral reef hotel. We liked The food outside better.

Marco's place has a really amazing beach front spot on the East coast of Zanzibar, and the beach there is beautiful, and not overcrowded. When the tide goes out you can walk all the way out to where the starfish are, and during high tide you can watch it from the patio space at the shared-public area of the hotel it connects with. You also have access to the shared hotel's nice pool, bar and restaurant. The food is really good and there is wifi in the bar area, but don't be surprised if sometimes it goes out..you are in Africa after all! The rooms are basic and what you can expect for the price, which is honestly one of the lowest prices you'll find in all of Zanzibar! Marco also has a kiteboarding school on the property called Surfescape where you can learn to kiteboard or rent one if you already know how to, or you can rent a paddleboard! Overall I'd recommend Marco's place to anyone looking to experience a nice beach area of Zanzibar on a budget, and/or looking for fun activities to do while on the island!

I loved Marco's place! My room was huge - 4 people could stay in it comfortably. Marco as away during my stay, but he replied to all my queries in a timely manner. His friend Deborah was there to assist me and she was amazing! She not only helped me during my stay, but she took time out to chat with me, too. The watersports school was closed because it was low season and not windy enough, but Marco suggested paddle boarding. They found an instructor for me and Deborah took photos and video of me trying it out for the first time. I had a blast! Marco's place is within a bigger resort and that makes it convenient because everything you need is there. Also, Pwani Mchangani is divine! It is clean and peaceful. You get your space, but there are still enough people, shops, restaurants to keep things interesting.

Marco is a nice and friendly guy who was willing to help us out and share information. The room is very nice and clean, though we have small issues with the water. The place is lovely, nice swimming pool and beach. It's isolated, with not many many bars/restaurants around but one could argue that's why the place is so nice.... the bar lacks cold beer! All in all, it was a pleasant stay. Thank you Marco.

Surfscape is in a beautiful secluded part of Zanzibar. It's quiet and lovely but there are plenty of excursions available if you'd like to take tours. You have access to the amenities and the restaurant at the Coral Reef Resort which is nice. Marco wasn't there but Deborah was wonderful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this place to friends!

We really enjoyed staying at Marcos Place. We can recommend this accomodation to really everyone who wants to have a chilled holiday on the one hand but on the other wants to do activities like trips, surfing or even when there is no wind- slackline :) The situation in surfescape is exactly as described and showed on the pictures u can see on airbnb. As we do kitesurfing, we can say that surfescape lives up to its name because you literally have your private space on the water and its not crowded like in other places (for example Paje). The rooms were very clean, the service around surfescape was perfect and plus- the internet was working really well - better than anywhere else we have been on Zanzibar so far. Marco is a really nice guy who it's nice to talk to and who is there at any time when you need anything or have questions. We will definitly come back to surfescape!!

Beautiful place on this beautiful island. Marco was not here, but his friend, Deborah. We could have phoned Marco all the time, but there were no problems. She welcomed us and went through all necessary stuff. Directly next to the place is the coral reef hotel, you can use all facilities. Beautiful beach and not too busy. (Was off-season) liked it so much, we stayed some time longer.

really sweet Place, especially for Kitesurfers, but also for people just looking for quiet days at the wonderful water there. Clean, comfortable Rooms, only the Price-Performance Ratio at the Restaurant (managed by coral reef Hotel) is not good..

Marco's place is beautiful! The room we stayed in had everything we needed and more. The bar/restaurant, pool, and private beach all made staying here incredible. If you are diving with One Ocean, this is a great spot, as it is a 5/10 minute drive away and they will do free pick ups. The only downside of this location is its distance from a town, it will take over an hour to get into Stone Town. We didn't mind at all, as we were looking for a relaxing place to stay after diving. My advice would be to stay in Stone Town for your first night or two on the island, and then head up to Marco's place. You won't regret staying at this place, it is gorgeous and a great value!

If you're looking for the perfect private beach that is anything but overcrowded by tourists this is the place. Beautiful turquoise water white sand and total silence. Combined with very helpful and kind staff, spacious clean rooms for a more than fair price - this place is amazing. We enjoyed our stay with Marco to the fullest and will recommend everybody to go here. Marco also helped us with all excursions, told us where to eat and where not too:) our favorite is definitely Bandas restaurant. Thanks to Marco and the staff for a wonderful time. We will definitely come back.

A beautiful little cottage right on the beach, and by all accounts one of the better beaches for zanzibar. Lots of clear white sands no sea urchins and a few nice fishing boats to watch as they bring home their days catch. The back gate is in a small village so be prepared to hear the goats chickens ducks and regular call to prayer during the day and night. Stefania is a lovely warm woman. She will go out of her way to make sure you love her home as much as she did when she lived there. Do take note the Tz govt is imposing a new tax so here is an additional to pay in cash when you check in. Just be a bit more savvy than I and translate stefania's italian info on this page. Coffee machine, TV (not that you would need it), wifi, it's all there. The men to the right of the cottage as you walk back up from the water will happily organise fresh fish for you. Don't be alarmed as the gardener, night guard and water delivery guys walk in to the property. Just keep a sarong to hand so that they don't gawp too much. Zanzibar isn't cheap. So bring a bottle from the mainland if you enjoy a sundowner, not everywhere serves alcohol..which is not necessarily a bad thing. Pop up to sultans sands 5 minutes walk to the left for a slap up dinner and a gentle live band. 5 nights was perfect to just unwind, read and swim. I would defineitely go back. Really great beach. We were there at the start of the rainy season, which meant it wasn't too hot. I suspect July onwards would also be great.

We stayed for 2 weeks and did enjoy every day of it! The villa has a perfect location directly at the beach, so it has a cool breeze at night and hardly any mosquitos. We came with two little children (3,5 years and 5 months) and Stefania was so kind to provide us extra beds for them and didn't charge anything extra. Our older child soon became friends with the children of the village and the villagers did take great care of them when they were playing on the beach. The beach itself is beautiful. There are small food stalls in the village and a small supermarket in nearby Kinwengwa. Salum picked us up from the airport and in-between we rented a car for a few days. In the days without a car, we stayed at "home" and lingered on the cosy terrace with its perfect view on the ocean. The kitchen has two gas burners and a good choice of kitchen utensiles. If you do not want to cook yourself, you have about 5 resorts that offer lunch and dinner to choose from. The local fishermen are also happy to take you for a boat trip and to offer fresh catch. Thanks to the hospitality of our neighbours we felt soon very much at home. Thank you also, Stefania and Salum, for your very warm welcome!

Had the most amazing time at this beach villa. The place is truly stunning. Its right on the beach 15 feet from ocean. You can buy fresh seafood n fish daily from local fisherman. Stefania and her husband Salum awesome people. Salum always there for you. Also great tour guide anything you want to do on the island. Also wifi and satelite tv. Will be back....Asante Sana

Best house to stay at!! The view, the beach, the house... all is even better than on the pictures! The house is very clean, spacious and lovely furnitured. It's also well equiped for common needs when you're a self-caterer. Several pots in different sizes, pans, plates, glasses, cups, sieve, bowls, silverware, more or less sharp knifes, a scissor, cooking spoons any other things... you'll definitely find everything for common needs. The beach is very quiet, though no mass tourism with towel next to towel. The beach is all white and very fine-grain, the water is amazingly clear and sometimes feels more like a bathtub, when it comes to the temperature ;) Furthermore you have your privat sun benches in your front yard, like you can see on the pictures. You'll have a privat security man sleeping in your front yard during the night, though no need to worry about anything. Stefania is an incredibly lovely host! All communication was so easy, very fast responding and such a warm and heartful welcome... you feel like home immediately! Salum is your daily angel. He'll help you with anything you need... airport transfer, going to the supermarket, fresh fish from the fisher man, making any tour (snorceling, Stone Town, spice tour and many more...), if anything gets broken, he'll fix it for you. And always "hakuna matata"... what means don't worry. Nothing seems to be too much for him! But beware of his charme ;) I DEFINITELY recommend this house for your perfect stay on Zansibar!

Stefania's house is lovely, nice materials, decorated with very good taste, cosy and comfortable. Even more beautiful than on the pictures. Stefania's husband welcomed us very well. Communication with them was all along clear and quick. Before arriving, I feared that the house would next to à big hotel but not at all, next to Stefania's house, it's a serie of small local houses. The house is on the beach, your private garden is a small part of the beach, a few meters further is the sea. There is a nice and simple local restaurant 5 minutes by foot, cheap and holding by very nice people. But you have to know that this is the only restaurant. The hotels around don't accept easily people from outside to come and have dinner. No bars and the only supermarket is very far if you don't have a car so it's better to pass by a supermarket before you arrive in the house. Anyway, we managed with the local restaurant and we had also our breakfast there (pancakes, omelettes, fresh fruits ... for a very very goo price).

The house of Stefania is just AMAZING!!! Is big ,airy,comfortable, very clean and it has all you need for a vacation.The beach is just in front of the house. The pictures of her house doesn't give you real filling I recommend to any one, and yes we'll definitely coming back again.Thank you Stefania and Salumn!!!

Had a wonderful stay! The bungalow was comfy and clean, and at great spot in a quiet fishing village on the beach. High tide comes nearly up to the gate, and it feels like you can walk for a mile during low tide! The view of the sunrise over the ocean from the front porch was spectacular. Hotels and restaurants are a short walk down the beach. Communication with Stefania was very easy before and during our visit. She was very understanding when we arrived late, and met us at the market so we could follow her to the home. Salum was always available for anything we needed. He arranged spice farm and Stone Town tours and even drove us (we had rented a car, but navigating the island can be a little difficult at first). The drawbacks: be prepared to battle ants and pushy merchants (inherent to the location, I suppose!). Looking forward to staying here again!

I know a perfect review is almost unbelievable but in this case it is. Went there on July 1st, 2013 and stay for 10 days. The apartment is brand new and has everything you need, also its behind closed gates with day and night security (just in case, reality is that this is a very safe place). It´s a 200 meter walk to the beach just through the nice local neighborhood in Kiwengwa.Also Carola and Mado are great hosts! took us for some grocery shopping and willing to help us with everything we needed. This is what you definitely say that it is an awesome value for money. Dont even think about it, just go!

This is a wonderful apartment. I stayed for 3 days with my 11 year old daughter who was unfortunately sick the entire time. If you have to be sick on vacation Kamili View is the ideal place to stay. It was a blessing to have a very clean and spacious apartment and not just a room. Carol was a gem, arranging a driver and a doctors appointment in Stone Town for us. I can't recommend this place enough. It is a great value. Having traveled to many parts of Tanzania, it is hard to find this high standard of accomodation at such a reasonable price. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Zanzibar.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 3 nights and we had a wonderful time! The apartment was beautiful, it looked just like the photos. The location was fantastic as well. The beach which was a 3 min walk away and the apartment was an easy 50 min dala-dala ride from Stone Town. Mado and Carola were very nice hosts and the Mnemba snorkeling tour they arranged for us was also fantastic! Highly recommend!

What a welcome! After waves of seawater during extremely high tide had almost washed away our previous accommodation (a little house at the beach) and soaked all our clothes, Carola turned out to be the perfect 'mama' at our next accommodation. Carola washed all of our clothes because she felt sorry for us; a break we really needed. Also the next day she patiently gave us all the information needed for our plan to go food shopping in stonetown for our bbq that evening, providing us with her coolbox and making sure the watchman lit the bbq for us (what a service!). Through Caroline we also booked an excellent snorkeling trip, she really is a one stop shop for everything you need at the island. The area has enough restaurants, all at the beach, though they all are of the more expensive type; even the restaurants owned by locals, which seems exemplary for this part of zanzibar. Besides the perfect hospitality, the large and clean apartments have access to the nicest outdoor swimming pool I have ever seen. A place to come back to!

We stayed for a week with Carola and Mado, i dont think i can go anywhere else in the future. Amazing house clean and tidy just 5min from the beach extremely helpful and always ready to help our hosts made our holiday so special. I will be back there in no time. Thank you

We can highly recommend Kamilli View. Our family stayed for two wonderful weeks. We stayed two adults and three kids (2,5,9). Kamilli View is a very attractive alternative to larger hotels and resorts, and you can really sense that this is a family driven place. The location is great and the apartments are aesthic, spacious, and family friendly. The pool is great and the beach (3min) is incredible. Carola and Mado are very flexible and we able to help us at any time. We all hope to be back at again.

Carola and Mado were excellent hosts! We requested transportation from/to the airport only hours before we arrived and they were very quick to respond and arrange the pickup. The driver they sent was Mema and he was amazing and ended up being our driver the whole time we were there. He even went back to the airport (about an hour away from the apartment) a few hours later to pick up the rest of our party. Upon arrival they had a very honest conversation about what to expect when we go into town, tipping, and how to avoid some of the tourist traps. They also gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations. The apartment, pool and property were very clean and you can tell that it was important to them to keep it that way and make their guests feel as at home as possible. Although the apartment complex is beautiful, it seemed to be the only nice place in the immediate surrounding area, which made the walk down to the beach feel a little sketchy at first but everyone is so friendly that the slight unsafe feeling quickly faded. There is a little convenience store up the street where we stocked up on soap/toiletries and snacks but if I were to do it over again, I would have utilized the grocery shopping service that Carola and Mado offer and had our kitchen stocked upon arrival. I would recommend at least doing this for alcohol since you can't buy this in the convenience store where they have set prices, you have to get it in the local market where they can and will try to completely overcharge you. We did the Safari Blue boat tour, which I would highly recommend, and I got badly sunburned. Carola took one look at me when we returned and cut me a piece of fresh Aloe from their garden for me to apply to my sunburn, which I maintain is the only reason I did not peel! They even cut me a piece to take with me when we left the next day. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here and I hope that I will be lucky enough to do so again one day!!

The place is nothing short of beautiful and Carola and Mado made our stay that much more perfect. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. When we arrived we were taken to their other property( the apartment right above the one we booked) as our hosts informed us they made a mistake of double booking that apartment. This was not a problem for us as all, as the other apartment was just as beautiful, but they still offered their apologies and a traditional dinner for two nights free. It was nothing short of professional and courteous. We appreciate their hospitality and will we back soon!

This place is absolutely charming. The private beach is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house is beautifully decorated and very spacious. The hosts were incredible, they were very accommodating with organizing taxis for us and leaving us some delicious fruit. Would definitely recommend staying here!!!

This house is absolutely gorgeous with the most wonderful location on the beach. Jussi and Christina are wonderful hosts and they take care of everything you need and are very helpful. Their hospitality is great. We are certainly coming back to this place and absolutely recommend it if you visit Zanzibar for a nice holiday, with just the sound of the waves from the ocean. It's the first thing you hear in the morning and the last thing you hear falling asleep. The beach is beautiful and nice for a swim during the day. You can watch the ocean for hours. There a beautiful sunrises from the garden. Visitors should know there are a few cats in the area, especially one that seems like being "home" in the house. But the cat is very nice and sweet, and we grew kind of fond of it during our stay. :) The area is nice and safe (for Africa). There are restaurants near the beach. Not many but few that are nice and fair price. Recommend Zan Hotel restaurant (4 minutes by car / 25 minutes walk along the beach). The wifi is fine for "normal use" but can be unsteady. Not a problem for us. This is everything you need and more, for a stress out and we absolutely recommend staying with Jussi and Christina. We enjoyed wonderful 17 days here.

Jussi's home was an absolute pleasure to stay in! Words can't describe how beautiful the home is as well as the private backyard and beach. Cristina, who was there to handle our check in and any issues, was very on top of everything and easy to communicate with. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The house also has very nice touches, like beach towels and mats. There's an excellent breeze and circulation at night so AC isn't even necessary though it's available. Would definitley stay here again!!

A wonderful relaxing villa on a beautiful beach

Gorgeous spot, right on the beach. Tastefully designed. Plenty of room to spread out. AC in one of the bedrooms, but generally a pretty nice breeze so you don't always need it. The is a great place to unwind: don't expect much in the way of Internet or distractions. Just watch the ocean and enjoy! Great hosts too!

Zan View is a lovely spot and a little more secluded. I would say ask for a room away from the lobby. It was a bit noisey. And definitely explore the beach. This hotel doesn't have chairs, but there are many that do and as long as you purchase food or drink, you can use them.

A real jewel on Zanzibar in an unspoilt up area, where local villagers say hello as you walk to the beach. It is a simple, comfortable and small privately owned hotel that is welcoming and friendly. Jacob is happy to help guests with any request, from organising a transfer from the airport to organising tours or arranging personal drink and food preferences.

The place is located on the hill overlooking the village and an amazing beach! The host was really laid back and friendly, happy to enjoy a drink with guests. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Cool and homely vibe with a backpacker's twist - highly reccomend!!!

We enjoyed the stay at Zan View really much. The place above the sea is lovely and there is always a nice seabreeze. The room we had was spacious and well equiped with lots of lovely details. Also the food was very fresh and delicious. Just a perfect place to relax with good service and really nice hospitality! Thank you for everything!

Our stay was just perfect, the people are friendly and lovely, the quality of the F&B is super good (the house wine is on the top of it) the rooms and facilities are very clean exactly like the photos. Eleana the manager and Ismail the driver were really super nice and helpful in organzing our tours and rides from and to the airport. The beach is 2 mins walking distance from the hotel, you will have to pass through the village which will give you the full feeling of Zanzibar. The location of the hotel is good interms of the location of the village, not very north or south so it made our tours easy as well. I am really glad with my stay and I highly recommend it if you are into "cozy" places not big resorts, you will feel you ate home.

If you want a quiet but comfortable stay in Zanzibar just a short walk from one of the softest beaches on the island, not teeming with hawkers, this is the place to be, so it was perfect for me. If you want nightlife and energy, you'll want somewhere else. Best part of the stay? Emmanuel's warmth was a breath of fresh air after staying at so many hotels with stilted service. He was also so flexible and great to us despite our last minute booking. He even went the extra mile to get us a motorbike rental and driving permit quickly, PLUS getting our laundry started when we really needed it. Will definitely be back!

Zan View is an excellent place to spend time with your significant other. It is quiet, the employees are very nice. This is a really peacefull place. The rooms were very clean. We even didn't have to use the mosquito net because there were no mosquitos there. Very nice and clean swimming pool. About 100m to the beach going through the little village. Amazing beach with beautiful sand. The hotel's cook is a masterchef because the meals were perfect. I'm a vegetarian and my husband is a meat and seafood lover and we had a chance to chose something delicious every day. We recommend everyone to go just for a quick view during the night to see the stars from the roof of the hotel :)

I can't even begin to express how much we enjoyed our time at Zan View Hotel. My husband and I stayed for SIX weeks and had such a wonderful time! Jakob and team know what they're doing, they know how to make you feel comfortable and they'll bend over backwards to accommodate your needs. Jakob, the owner of Zan View, is a rare breed. We had so much fun with him. He is professional when he needed to be (setting up taxis, excursions/tours, giving us suggestions on things to do, and what not to) and so kind, pleasant, and fun to just hang out with anytime. He went out of his way to personally drive us to Stone Town (about an hour away) several times and even connected us with the right people to help us start a small clothing business. One important note - the mobile service through Zantel works better, with faster data speed at Zan View than it did anywhere else on the island for us, including Zanzibar. If you work, or need solid internet - this place is a home run. **Jakob actually set up SIM cards with data for us so that we could use our iPhone 6s & Hotspot to our computers. He was a godsend for us in this since it's a nightmare to try buy these if you don't speak Swahili. The hotel itself is great! We loved the design, and everything was comfortable. All of the beach hotels outside of Stone Town (that we saw) were very cookie-cutter and touristy. When you stay at Zan View you really feel like you're having a local, cultural experience because you walk through a small village on your 2 min trip to the beach and you get to see how people really live in rural Zanzibar. Zan View Hotel has perfect views of the ocean, it’s so peaceful & relaxing. The walk to the white, sandy beach is about 2 minutes, as I said and you’ll find about 2kms of beach with barely any tourists on it. You can sail on the local boats, go fishing, snorkeling, and see incredible starfish. We stayed in two rooms of the 6 weeks - they were both big, comfortable and cleaned (perfectly) daily. Don't get me started on the food! They have a menu that is superb, but the chefs will basically make anything you want. We ate almost all of our meals there and every single one was delicious. In the six weeks that we stayed there our only complaint was a few days of rain, and we were a little upset that Jakob couldn't do anything about that. ;) I thought the Nordic people could control the weather?? Lovely and friendly staff that cater to your every need! It was a truly lovely place to spend a few days relaxing and i wish I could have stayed longer. Lovely bedrooms/en-suit, Amazing view, great food. I would definitely go again. Met some really friendly locals too. An all round great trip.

Jakob was a great host. His home/hotel is clean, welcoming, breathtaking and 2 mins walk to the beach. Kiwengwa doesn't have much to do in the low season but if you're looking for a quiet start to to your vacation, I would highly recommend this hotel. Did i mention the amazing view? And amazing food cooked to your perfect taste? He pretty much asks you what you want to eat and that's what you'll get - menu or no menu (with advanced notice of course) And if you have family, Jacobs family is great to hang out with as well. They kept us company during our stay whichmade us feel even more welcome. Also, zanzibar is really small and kiwengwa is kind of in the middle, so if you wanted to use this as your home base and then take a days trip to nungwi or stone town, that too would be an amazing idea. Anyway, if you're even considering or thinking of staying here, you should.... Hopefully we'll be back and will definitely be coming back to zan view.

I stayed at Zan View Hotel for 10 days and had a great time. Jakob was a great host and always around for help if needed. The staff took excellent care of us and were very welcoming and friendly. The food was also amazing and fresh. Our room was comfortable and cleaned daily. This hotel is in a great location with an amazing view. Only a short walk to the beach with plenty of restaurants and local shops to visit along the beach.

Our stay was just perfect! The roof, tge toilets! The pool was alwys clean, tge staff were nice as well.. and Nicola helped us with everything we needed:)

Breeze Residence is an oasis entirely created by Nicola. The vegetation, pool, lights and rooms made this place magical. Nicola is the perfect host and will give you all Help and advice needed during your stay in Zanzibar. Dont Forget to withdrawl money in stonetown before coming to Kiwengwa because the ATM here are not really working, especially for VISA. The + that we loved was the fact that real Massaï are employed there. Nicola, dont Forget to call us when you'´ll be in Paris :)

Breeze Residence is a wonderful, calm place with a not so small pool and magnificent villas. It's only a two minutes walk to the beach and maybe 50 meters to so groceries venders. Nicola, the host, is a very friendly, welcoming and competent host with very good staff members. Un piccolo paradiso lontano dal frastuono dei villaggi e immerso nella vera Zanzibar, abbiamo vissuto dieci giorni nella pace grazie alla disponibilità di Nicola e del suo staff, piscina e casa bellissima (munita di cucina ma se si vuole li vicino si possono trovare anche ristoranti, sia locali o internazionali) ...tutto a due minuti dal mare.. intorno c'è solo natura e il villaggio dove abbiamo potuto conoscere dei ragazzi del posto che ci hanno fatto esplorare l'isola... What a fantastic holiday! From the initial booking, Annika was available and helpful. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of by the fabulous staff (Massoud the driver, Abdullah the cook and houseboy and cleaning girl) The house was perfect for children. Beach was close and we could return to swim some more, eat leisurely (with children, a big plus!). There was plenty of space to relax, lounge chairs around pool. Everything was cleaned daily, laundry washed, food prepared (deliciously!) and day trips around Zanzibar easily organised. We cannot highly recommend this home enough. It is not right on the beach, so if that is what you are looking for, this isn't it. But for families, this provided a fabulous, relaxing holiday for all- adults and children. Thanks to Annika, Hemed, Massoud and staff.

We were a group of 8 people from Poland that spent a wonderful week in Villa Kumba Urembo. Without any hesitation we can recommend the team that works for Hemed & Annika i.e. Masoud, a person that is always willing to give helpful advices and who was also our driver, Abdullah, the chef, who was preparing delicious meals every day, the unbelievable nice and always helpful Khalfan, and Zana, our cleaning lady. We are really glad that we chose this place for our vacations. The beach is really only 10 minutes’ walk form the Villa. What is more, during this walk you have a chance to see the village & their residents. The house is equipped as it is given in the description made by Annika. Although, we must admit that during our stay we had several problems with air conditioning in two bedrooms and as you can imagine, sleeping in such high temperatures without air conditioning for Europeans is quite challenging J. All in all, we spent a fantastic time in the Villa. If we had a chance to visit Zanzibar once again, we would choose the same place for staying.

We were a group of six people from Norway (mother, father, 3 grown up children and one girlfriend arriving Zanzibar with high expectation for a different holliday experience. Before arrival we agreed with Annika to be picked up at the airport by their (excellent) driver, and to have some food prepeared (by their excelent cook) on arrival as well as to the first breakfast. We arrived very late (past midnight). Our driver was waiting at the airport and brought us safely to, what we felt, the middle of nowhere. Actually we soon experienced that it was in the middle of everywhere when it comes to exploring Zanzibar. The "on site" cook, maid, helping man and driver, were at our disposal all the time and participated greatly to make our holiday one of the best. The house was spacious and clean with 3 big bedrooms, a huge kitchen/livingroom/diningroom area. The maid made our beds and cleaned all rooms every day, provided clean towels and linnen when needed and also did laundry if we wanted it. The cook made excellent food. You need to discuss with him what you want, or ask him to make something special, for instance something African. He always over-performed on the food side, and always adding some surprise dishes. Just don't forget that you are responsible for the shopping of food and drinks. It might be easy to forget that this is Airbnb, not an all inclusive resort :-) The cook loved to join in on the shopping both locally and in Stone Town, providing good suggestions, and always finding the best place to buy different ingredients! Our driver was very experienced. Safe driving, always knowing where to go and who to contact to get the best experience for a reasonable price. Every morning a guy came to clean the pool, and he also had a friend with a boat that took us out on a fishing trip an early morning, with good results. Recommended! So if you are looking for a very affordable, safe and pleasant place to stay in Zanzibar that provides everything from lazy days by the pool or the near by beach, good food and excursion and experiences around the Zanzibar island, we have no difficulties in recommending Villa Kumba Urembo as your place to stay! We will look back on our stay at the villa with great joy, always! And Annika was always very responsive on questions and suggestions before and during the trip!

We were made very welcome and the chef was excellent. The entire place was clean and tidy and the pool was cleaned every day. The beach was only 5 minutes walk and excellent beach. The driver Masoud was very good and we went on three tours. Stone town was 1 hour drive from the place. Bought most of our food for cooking from the local shops at very reasonable prices. We would recommend the place to our friends.

Wow! Just can't say enough about our stay at Casa CheiChei. We were one of the first guests in Carola and Mado's place and we can only say: Wonderful hosts, wonderful place. The house (interior and exterior) is as beautiful and well-decorated as it looks in the pictures. The appliances were great and the accommodations were comfortable. The place was safe and secure with a very friendly guard. If the place was nice, the hosts were nothing short of outstanding! Not only were Carola and Mado friendly, joyful, they helped us with planning some of the destinations and excursions on the island during our stay. They even went beyond the call of duty and picked up a few things from town while they were out there. This really helped us maximize beach time. Thanks so much Carola and Mado! We had a great time!

This place is literally your home away from home. Big and well equipped with more than you need for a vacation. The neighborhood is wonderful and filled with joyful people all over the village. Do go out and meet the locals, the kids are sure to fill you with joy. you will love it, this much is true.

Carola and Mado were wonderful hosts. The location of the apartment is great! We were a family, and so most days we started out in the pool, then walked down to the beach, only to return to the pool at the end of the day. Our kids loved our vacation. I recommend ordering the Swahili food from Carola as well - excellent! There are some fruits and vegs available in the area, and a very small grocery store, but if you want more variety, and cheaper, it would be best to stock up at the Stone Town markets. Overall, highly recommended!

We were with 6 friends and had 4 good days. We loved the pool and e bbq was delicious. Grocery shopping could be done in the neighbourhood. Our trips to stone town and the rock were lots of fun and the transportation to it safe and on time. A nice and relaxing few days on zanzibar!

The apartments are very nicely decorated and there's a great pool in the garden. Beach is a 5 minute walk downhill passing a few little houses/huts and the occasional chicken. Carola and Mado are great hosts and take hosting very seriously. Carola is genuinly like having a caring Italian mama with you, always up for solving minor problems or answering questions. We had a great stay! The neigbourhood is a weird mix of resorts and local villages as is most of the coast of Zanzibar. In this particular area there are a lot of Italians, we think that is why most restaurants serve such good food. For nightlife you should probably pick another town although when we were there the high season hadn't fully kicked off so we're not sure. We hope to revisit this beautiful place again. Tutaonana!

Lovely place with a nice sea breeze moving through high ceiling rooms. The backyard garden and pool area were tranquil and inviting. Easy walk to the beach with great places to eat and swim nearby. We had an amazing stay at Kamili View Casa chei chei. The house is very clean, spacious and has everything you need to make your stay wonderful. We also loved the amazing pool and the garden, which was surrounded with lovely frangipani. Carola and Mado are such wonderful people, they have really done an amazing job with this place and you can see they are passionate about what they do. Carola recommended nice restaurants to eat and also we loved Swahili food which she recommended to us. We had stayed in Kamili view for 5 days. The house was well decorated with good taste and the famiily was very welcoming. We did not enjoy the walk to the beach, it was not long but, every morning, it was not pleasant to pass through. We had other small issues but Carola had managed all right overall.

We spent one beautiful week at the Kamili View. We loved the house from the very beginning. It is a great place either you travel with the group of friends or with family. And that cosy colorful garden with the swimming pool makes it a perfect getaway on the island. Kamili and Mado were very helpful and gave us plenty of good advises how to spend time on the island and where to find the best seafood restaurants. The house is located on the east coast where you can find good spots for kite surfing. Also all the main attractions of the island are around 30-40 minutes drive by car from the house: Jozani forest, Stown town, Nungwi beaches. So it is a perfect place if you want to hide from the touristic fuss, but still with a chance to easily explore the island whenever you want(URL HIDDEN)

I loved, loved, loved, loved, LOVED staying at Carola and Mado's place. The pictures and descriptions do not even come close to how beautiful the property was! After spending 7 days on the mountain and 3 days on safari, we were only looking for a clean bed with a mosquito net. What we got was a luxury apartment that was better than some of the five star hotels I've stayed in. I could definitely see all the hard work and care that Carola and Mado put into building and decorating: from the seashells and clothing hooks, gorgeous bougainvilleas adorning the exterior, to even the beautiful walk-in closet. The property was safe, was walking distance to the beautiful white sand beach (only 2-min walk even if you do it drunk), and I loved greeting Mado's father everyday. Carola and Mado were extremely helpful and quick to respond. They provided everything the big resorts had at a cheaper price and with more privacy (food, transfers, laundry service, tours/excursions, etc). My only regret is not staying longer. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Zanzibar.

It was an excellent experience! Carola and Mado were great hosts and the house is really beautiful! exactly as described and showed in pictures. They also organized nice excursions for us! and the new year's dinner was delicious! They are always joinable and available for us! We spent unforgettable time in Zanzibar! we highly recommend Kamili View!  

Mado & Carola are more than just apartment owners. I was chatting with Carola way before my trip has started, and she answered every question I had about Zanzibar and even planned our trip-plan day-by-day. The apartment is carefully decorated and really beautiful - we were really amazed and had the best time there. The balcony is huge, the rooms are super modern, big, clean & cozy and there was everything we needed right in the apartment. The beach is so close you can just chill there the whole day...good restaurants in the area and of course the beach looks really nice. They give services like laundry & food delivery, basically everything you may need for your stay! Mado helped us in the daily trips, telling us what to do and what not to do, he even went personally to a restaurant in the city to book us a dinner. We liked our stay @ Kamili View so much and we recommend it to all! it's so important to find hosts you can trust...Mado & Carola are the best hosts we had :)

We had a fantastic stay at Kamili View and highly recommend it as an affordable, comfortable and rewarding way to visit Zanzibar. Carola and Mado are wonderful hosts who treated us like house guests rather than renters and found ways to meet every request we had. They organized trips, cars, guides, setting us up with great, qualified locals who charged reasonable rates (much much better than what we were offered on the beach or in town), and arranged for a chef who prepared swahili cuisine that beats any restaurant right in our pleasant kitchen. Don't be intimidated by the concept of "self-catering," you won't be on your own with such great hosts. They even took care of our shopping needs from the moment we got there. The house was new (we were the first guests to stay in this unit), well designed and quite comfortable. It has everything you need, providing "like-home" ease that we would have given up if we had stayed in a hotel. It's a short, pretty easy walk to a stunning beach. The beach is entirely public (the resorts that are on the beach do not even spill onto the beach) itself so you don't give up much by staying a few hundred meters away from the coast itself. All the rooms had ceiling fans and the big windows let in a nice breeze; we never felt it got too hot. The beds all have mosquito nets and the windows all have screens. Excellent all around. We had a great stay at Carola´s&Mado´s KAMILI VIEW.It is a very nice house,clean,large,comfortable and furnished in african style.The house is surrounded by a nice garden and is very safe.Carola is super helpfull,organized our shopping a few times,as well as a great dinner swahili style.The beach at Kiwengwa is nice, with a lot of friendly local people.I would definitely recommand this house to anybody who wants to spent a holday in beautiful Zanzibar.

Carola and Mado were excellent hosts! We just sat back and relaxed while they organized everything for us!! Reservations for dinner, grocery shopping, booking for all day snorkeling safari etc. Carola took time to meet with is and answer our questions - she is very knowledgable about the islands. She also coordinated all of our transportation to and from the airport and excursions. The accommodations are beautiful- very clean and comfortable. Carola has excellent taste in interior decorating. We had a fabulous time!!!

Carola & Mado are simply stellar and super stars at what they do!!.. From the pre booking to the check out the experience was nothing short of fantastic.. Grocery list 5 stars... Even exchanged Tanzanian shillings and had it on the table as soon we arrived at the apartment.... Excursion arranged to mnemba island was an amazing snorkeling experience.. Home cooked Swahili food was finger licking good... Always available to answer any queries and make sure everything is fine.. I could go on and on about how good our experience was as a couple... In short i believe Carola & Mado do NOT deserve 5 stars... More like 6 maybe even 7!...:) would definitely recommend this to friends, family and fellow Airbnb'ers... Wish Carola & Mado nothing but the best ....

We stayed at Carola and Mado's place for 4 nights, and it was definitely one of the best Airbnb experiences we ever had. The apartment is very clean, well-designed, safe, and comfortable. Carola and Mado are very nice and helpful, especially with the transfer from/to the airport (so you don't need to worry at all about getting to Kiwengwa). We used their super helpful groceries service, and cooking with local ingredients was totally worth it. The pool was great, very clean and well-maintained (as well as the rest of the complex). The beach is a few minutes walking through the village, beautiful and quiet especially in the morning - the location is perfect so reaching to both southern and northern ends of it is easy and very recommended. We highly recommend Carola and Mado's place.

Perfect! If I just had one word to describe it, this would be it. Very easy and straightforward communication. Carola and Mado are very nice hosts, Carola drove us to the caves nearby, which are well worth to be explored. The apartment is new, very clean, big, beautifully furnished and you feel at home at once. It was a very relaxing stay, the beach is just 3 minutes away down a narrow path through the village and there are also small shops nearby to buy breakfast and other food. There is an italian espresso maker, so bring coffee. Definitely a place to come back!

I am very happy with my stay at Carola. everything was ok, spacious and large apartment with kitchen is really beautiful. The beach is literally a few meters away, the shops also. This was a great experience, both as accommodation and chance to chat and do things with the hosts. They did their best to make us comfortable, as we were more (7) than the house usually accommodates. Next time we would definitely want to be only 4-5 people in this location. It was very nice to spend New Year together with the hosts. We really enjoyed the food they cooked, had a deal to swim in the pool of a nearby hotel, were amazed by the dream like nearby beach, etc. We felt very welcome, learnt a lot of life and history of the island, etc. Many thanks Ina and Msuli for the experience! I had a wonderful time at Ina and Msuli's place! Their house is located in a very calm and safe area off the beaten track and they have direct access to an (almost) private beach, which is really nice. The apartment is nicely furnished with modern equipment, always clean and cozy with lots of chill areas in the living and dining room as well as outside on the terrace. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, I felt very well taken care of. They also offer to take you to the supermarket and are always prepared to organize a variety of trips around the island - and the best thing is that they do this the local way which saves you a lot of money and you get to see some of the not-so-touristy things. All in all, I had a very pleasent stay and it was just perfect for taking a break and relax!

We were a family group of 4 adults and 2 small children and stayed in this lovely house for 2 nights. The place is very spacious and very comfortable. Ina and Msuli are really good hosts and made sure we were all comfortable. Msuli even went to the market with us to get fresh fish, octopus and lobsters and helped us set up a barbecue in the outdoor area! The beach is also close to the villa and very private. Plus, the house has two amazing dogs, very kind to us and the children. Highly recommended!

Spend six days with Ina and Msuli with my brother and nephew. I can only say, it was a really good experience, we got taken good care off. No doubt about that, it was really a blessing staying after 3 months of travelling across africa. The place is truely an unspoiled gem next to some of the most prestigious beaches on Zanzibar - and the atmosphere created by Ina and Msuli makes it a home away from home.

We stayed at Ina and Msuli's place for 2 nights only but wished we could have stayed longer. It was such a lovely place, perfect for our little family with 10 months old twin girls. The apartment is spacious, and cool, there is no need for an AC. The kitchen is well equipped and allowed us to prepare breakfast in the morning or heat up left overs. Ina was so kind to show us access to a second property they have which is right on the beach, just a 2 minute walk from the house and it is the most beautiful beach ever!! Totally private, a little Bay which our girls could explore in peace, we loved it. A good restaurant is also just next to the apartment where we went to for breakfast and dinner. Ina and Msuli were both very friendly, welcoming, helpful, communicative but also respected our privacy. A wonderful retreat at an absolutely lovely place. The staff was especially friendly, accommodating and cool to talk to. This a very quiet place perfect for couples, book lovers and writers.

My husband, two young sons and I spent 11 nights here. I have to say the initial listing was misleading. In my first communication with Mayah I asked her if the wifi was private and unlimited, she said yes. I told her how important the Internet is because my husband will be working during the night, she again assured me it was good. It was only when we arrived that she tells us it is only in the gazebo next to the pool and the signal will not reach our apartment! Luckily we bought SIM cards for our phones in Dar and my husband was able to use tat for his work. When we arrived we noticed another misconception; the listing says it has 3 beds, there is only one bed. A couple days into the stay I wanted to do laundry (washer is listed under amenities). Mayah insisted that they do the laundry because "the washer is new and not even she knows how to use it". She said they will hang it and bring it to us when it's dry. On the 4th day they cleaned our apartment and brought our clothes. A few days later the cleaning lady (?) came and asked for the laundry payment. Mayah said nothing about payment. When I asked her about this she said yes it is listed downstairs. Where? And why didn't she show us? After going back and forth with her and telling her it should not be listed as an amenity if you have to pay she said its fine and wouldn't charge. She also assured us that the apartment would be cleaned every 4 days but it was only cleaned once. On New Years Eve Mayah offered to make dinner for the guests at $30 a person for 4 courses. We agreed. The day before I came down with the flu and during dinner I felt faint so I left after only two bites of spaghetti and a drink. The next morning I find out she still charged my husband the whole $30 and charged $10 for our 6 years olds small bowl of spaghetti; she also charged $5 for a large bottle of water. If she was going to still charge for my dinner I wish she would have packed it up and sent it with my husband so I could eat it the next day! Overall the apartment and compound are beautiful. I just wish we didn't have all the unpleasant surprises. By the way the listing has since been updated to show additional prices and is clear about the wifi.

The premises is beautiful and the apartment is spacious and clean. Maya was very helpful and there was always someone around if you needed assistance. The food was yummy, too. We enjoyed our stay very much.
