Jose is a very kind and generous host who made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. As each day went by, we discovered more and more things we liked about the house and would definitely stay here again. Being so high up is a thrill and having Levada Nova at your doorstep a definite bonus. One drawback was only being able to get wifi on the back deck, but with Madeira’s perfect climate year-round, we were quite happy to be outside. We had a terrific week in a great location with a wonderful host.

It was wonderful in this very nice house with lovely thinks and a wonderful and frienfly kind of Jose. We come back to this nice place.

This is the most amazing place ever. It’s full of character and in a beautiful garden. Just imagine yourself living among banana trees and sugar cane fields, all the sounds of country life going on round you and with the bonus of the occasional canary coming to sing delightful tunes to you from the telegraph wires. We stayed for just over 3 weeks. Used Jose’s washing machine once a week and he had someone come in to change the sheets and towels weekly. You’ll never get tired of the local levada walks vertigo permitting and there is a great walk down to Ponto do Sol and back up again after delicious grilled parrot fish at the cafe on the beach. The heater keeps you toasty warm on cool evenings.

We had a great stay in José's house. To start with, the house is sublime, full of charm with a view of the ocean and the banana trees to die for. There are all the necessary equipment for cooking, eating, washing but also for the hygiene of the premises. José is a very friendly, very responsive host, who made us wonderfully welcome. There was already food on arrival and everything needed for a great vacation. We would definitely come back to José's if we were to return to Madeira.

We had a very good time with José! The house is quiet with a sea view, is comfortably furnished and equipped with everything you need. On arrival we were greeted with fruit and cake, and José had already bought for breakfast and filled the fridge. José is a very good and nice host who takes care of everything. Ponta do Sol is a pretty little place with bars and restaurants for a cozy afternoon or evening. It is ideal as a starting point for exploring the island, but a car is a must to get to the house. The view and tranquility of the accommodation and only sunny days from Christmas to New Year made our holiday experience perfect, price / performance ratio was absolutely right. We would love to come back.

Everything was just like everybody here already described. Jose gave us a warm welcome with tipps about the island and a welcome-package with fruits and wine and food for the first days. The house and the location were just beautiful and we have nothing negative to say. Absolutely recommendable!

Room with bathroom in private house, on the ground floor, with use of external kitchen. Perfect bathroom. Double bed a little stiff. Perfect location, not facing the sea, but still very close. At night we heard the sound of the waves! We were there for eight nights ... the day to visit Madeira ... in my opinion excellent choice! Anas airbnb is a great place to stay! So clean and quiet- apart from the sound of the waves, which was so nice to hear. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed comfortable. Ana welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home. I would definitely recommend to stay here, such a beautiful location.

One of my favorite Airbnb stays so far! Fantastic location with spectacular sunsets, and the property itself is awesome with a heated outdoor pool, hammocks, tables outside, a large outdoor(ish) kitchen & a friendly cat. Lovely hosts. Ana even had a delicious Madeiran pastry waiting for me. The guest room itself is absolutely spotless! With a spacious bathroom that has a great shower (not always given). I hope to be back someday for a longer stay!

We had a very good stay with Ana. We felt like at home. Photos consistent with the accommodation, spacious bedroom and very well equipped kitchen. It was nice to hear the ocean noise from our room. We recommend this address.

This is a really great spot next to the water!! You are in Madalena do Mar, so you will need a car. I found this to be an ideal spot outside of the city which made it very easy to navigate the western side of the island, and pretty easy to get around in general. The room is very spacious and comfortable, along with a very nice bathroom. Took advantage of having a kitchen and did cook a couple times, so I appreciated having all the necessary items to do so. The pool area is lovely and the photos online do not do this area justice. Hopefully when I return I will have a chance to enjoy it!!

This is a fantastic accommodation close to the sea . The room is very clean and cozy. The kitchen is simply an amazing place to hang out and cook . Can’t recommend enough .

We had an unforgettable stay at the Uni Water Studio. The location is beautiful and as shown in the photos. It is really special to have the constant connection to the ocean, when cooking, eating, sleeping - beautiful. However, you should take earplugs with you because the surf can be very loud. A hike to Prazeres and Paul do Mar is right on the doorstep (but you should be fit and really good on foot because Prazeres is really steep up some very rough paths, and you should definitely check the tides online , if you want to walk back on the beach - this route is also very tough due to the very rough stones - you have to be really good on foot. Alternative taxi back to Jardim do Mar is not far). On Sundays there is a market for agricultural products in Prazeres at unbeatable prices - highly recommended. Conclusion: we found it beautiful and would definitely love to come back

We had a wonderful week in the Uni WATER studio. The view and the studio were super nice. We are happy to come here again.

Front row seats to an incredible coastline contrasted by an impressive cliffside. We were fortunate to see a 24 hour coastal storm during our stay and it was simply magnificent. Well equipped kitchen made it a homey stay. Great hot showers, good beds and plenty of room outdoors with our private patio and balcony. Definitely stay at least a week. Jota was a great and responsive host.

This is truly one of the most incredible properties I think I will ever stay at. The views are even more incredible than the pictures. Andre is a fantastic host, and will provide anything you need during your stay. I am so grateful we found this gem when searching for places to stay in Madeira.

The location is pretty remote, so Maria made sure we could find it by showing is the way. The tips about the supermarket and the nearby levada walk were also appreciated. Fresh vegetables, herbs and eggs available in our appartment. Veel delicious! Would love to stay again

It was really great to spend our holidays at Maria and Alexandre’s place. I would highly recommend to stay there due to beautiful view and all necessary house facilities. Only keep in mind that it is good to have a car to get there, but if you look for some heaven of peace this is a place !

The location is ideal for those who love nature. The house located on the north coast offers a perfect location for nature lovers. The attentions of Maria and Alexandre are perfect.

English and German! We visited Madeira island in January 20. We are a couple with a 6y son. The house is located in between mountains, in a very quiet and rural area. It is surrounded by some small fields and gardens, with chicken, sheep and ducks. The farmer Aldinho instantly became a hero for our little son, he was incredibly nice. The house is perfect for 2 people, but it was big enough for us 3. It was perfectly clean, we had more than enough beddings and towels. There were new heaters and a device to dry the air in the house. The bathroom is small, but very clean and modern. There is a bbq and a second dining place outside. Maria and Alexandre were very nice and answered quickly. A small shop is nearby, the next city and supermarket are about 20 minutes away. You need a car or very strong legs and lungs ;-) The house is perfect for nature lovers, hikers or bikers. We (2 adults, 1 child, 6 years) were in the house of Maria and Alexandre over New Year's Eve 19/20. The house is beautifully situated on the edge of a small farming village in the mountains. The view is beautiful and it is wonderfully calm. There are gardens and small fields around the house, as well as chickens, ducks and sheep. Aldinho takes care of everything, which our son immediately took to his heart. Every morning he ran off to feed the animals with Aldinho. We were provided with eggs, vegetables and fruits and learned a lot about the original life of the locals. The house is perfect for a couple, but 1-2 small children fit well on the sofa bed. The bathroom is small, but clean and modern. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped, we had more than enough bedding and towels. Earlier reports said it was clammy, but that was countered with radiators and an electric dehumidifier. Outside there is a covered terrace with another dining table and a large open grill and even a sink. The hosts were always available and picked us up at the next intersection as the house is difficult to find. There is a small shop in the village, the next big place and supermarket can be reached by car in about 20 minutes. A rental car is advisable if you don't want to be extremely sporty. But you can start several great hikes directly from the house. The accommodation is perfect for nature lovers, those seeking tranquility and everyone who wants to experience Madeira originally and away from the tourist crowds.

Cristina and her husband kindly picked us up at the airport upon our arrival before we had a quick drive around Funchal. Their loft corresponds in every respect to the description and the photos. Very well equipped and located 20 minutes walk from the center of Funchal, it allows to rest after a good day of hiking and exploring Madeira.

Cristina was a great host and together with her husband showed us excellent hospitality throughout our stay. Having picked us up from the airport they took us on a tour of Funchal and dropped us at the local supermarket to get set up with food for our stay. The apartment was extremely comfortable with excellent views over the sea. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone.

We had a great time in Madeira and after every very eventful day we were always very happy to be able to return to our oasis of calm, Nuno received us very warmly and helped us a lot with our suitcase lost at the airport! It was also great that there was always fresh fruit in the kitchen and the herb garden in front of the kitchen is really beautiful, we were happy to use it. We saw from the other rental cars that the other two tents were also occupied, but hardly anyone else saw the whole area is well thought out and really beautiful! A car is definitely necessary! It also makes sense to use the directions given here in airbnb because Google Maps does not know this wonderful place

Paradise! Everything was lovely. Tip: bring flip flops for the shower. It is lined with rocks and is a bit uncomfortable on bare feet.

It's been amazing at Magda's place, she is the nicest host I have ever met! My partner and me where there over Christmas so we were spontaneously invited to join the family and friends' dinner on Christmas eve. Absolutely wonderful. The room is beautiful with a stunning view over the sea and breakfast was super tasty. A wonderful experience!

The stay was at a wonderful location at the edge of the island. Facilities were very good for a remote place like this, in the evening we used the small heater as it gets cold at night and this was a very good feature. Albert also provided us with plenty of blankets. We enjoyed beautiful views during sunset and could see plenty of stars at night. Definitely would recommend this place!

The place is as described: magnificent view and location, well-equipped, cosy, unique. I stayed there for four nights and experienced all weather conditions. On sunny days it's paradise, but when there is a storm it can indeed get loud and chilly as mentioned by other guests (after all it's a tent). However, the construction is stable and safe, there are enough blankets, a little electrical heater, and a really good hot shower to keep you warm. Communication with Albert was straight forward and efficient, and his tips were helpful. I enjoyed my time there and can recommend this place.

The site and the view are breathtaking. The cabin does not offer five stars but very good bedding and enough blankets to have a great night in the middle of February. The two "tents" are really very lonely - next to it is a small bar and also the gondola, but apart from that it is very quiet, hardly any extraneous light: the starry sky is breathtaking! Highly recommended - super clean - and well equipped!

We were blown away by our stay here - the view is better than any picture can show and the whole place is magical. This is the first place I’ve booked where we know we will come back. The perfect location to relax and take some time for yourself. Particular highlights are eating the bananas from the trees and passion fruits we picked from the vine outside our tipi, plus other fruits, herbs and edible flowers from the garden. Nuno and Roberto are fantastic hosts and make you feel very welcome. I cannot fault our stay at all and we are so grateful we had the opportunity to experience this little paradise.

We can only endorse all the other reviews: You really feel like you're in paradise! The whole complex and the view make this experience unique. The fresh fruits in the garden (bananas, passion fruits, guavas, etc.), the cuddly cat Mimi and the hosts made our stay more than perfect. Nearby is a restaurant (90°), which can be reached by foot in 10 minutes, breakfast is great in a small café at the nearest gas station in Ponta do Sol. Right here is also a small supermarket where you can get everything you need. We hope that this was not our last stay on Madeira and at this truly "hidden paradise".

The location, scenery, outdoor kitchen, Mimi (the cat), and Nuno (the host) were all amazing. We really enjoyed our calm stay in the Tipi, cooking meals in the outdoor kitchen, and exploring Madeira! We will definitely be back.

The name lives up to its promise! It's really a little paradise, and it takes a bit of effort to get there. The stairs are a good training for hiking on the wonderful island and in the hammocks at the spring water pool it can relax wonderfully. The whole complex is very well designed and eco-friendly, without sacrificing comfort. We can only recommend this very special accommodation!

Bruno's house is incredibly beautiful and is equipped with everything you need to just let your mind wander. We felt very comfortable. We found the outdoor kitchen with grill and the garden with so many lovely details and cozy lighting at night particularly beautiful. We definitely recommend the accommodation.

Bruno's place is fantastic. As is Bruno - we also spent a day with him seeing the bits of the island you wouldn't usually find. Perfect space to stay and relax and from which to explore.

Really really espectacular, fabulous sightseeing, luxurious garden, totally equipped for cooking indoor or have a barbecue outdoor. Just one warning: only for skilled drivers. Totally recommended!

We love your house. It is spacious, well equipped, trendy interior and a cosy garden with different seats. Also when it rains, we'd sit outside and put on the fireplace, put some meat on it and together with a good glass of wine were able to sit outside, even though it was January. It is obvious that Bruno has approached this house from the user's perspective and included everything one could ask for. It was five of us staying at the place and we just couldn't ask for a better base to discover the island off of. Great communication too, had no any problem with arriving in the middle of the night.

The house is exactly as shown on the pictures! We spend wonderful relaxing days in the garden and at the pool, even though we stayed there in Dec./Jan.! Especially at night it is very very nice to enjoy the lights and the hot tub! The house itself is equipped with just about anything you can think of, f.e. a deep fryer in the kitchen..) We underestimated the steep roads a liltte, so make sure to get a proper car with enough horsepower to make it up there! Bruno was available for us at any time, helpfull and very kind! We are very happy to have found this place for our vacation to start off with the new century!

Wow what a house !! We loved everything: the exceptional house, the fantastic welcome gifts, the decoration, the cleanliness, the restaurant next door excellent (a stroll can be done on the coastal path!), The comfort of the beds (small precision a room was closed, there were only four of us, it didn't bother us at all but it can be useful to know), the outdoor barbecue, the balcony with the sea view, the smell of flowers ... in short we we have only one desire: to return to the same place !! Excellent place in a quiet town on the North coast. Only 50 meters from a bar restaurant. The house very nice and has lots of space and is close to some nice hiking trails.

Our stay in Sao Jorge was great. The cottage is very nice and spacious. On arrival a few little things awaited us to eat and drink. Marilene received us personally, showed everything and gave many tips for the north coast. That was great! We were there in January, so slippers or at least thick socks are highly recommended.

Great villa in the north of the island. See the ocean with the massive clouds falling down the mountains. It is beautiful! Rotilio and Marilene were incredible : they were there to welcome us and show us around the villa, they left us welcoming gifts and were really easy to contact. The villa has flyers of different regions on the island, which was really helpful to plan our trip. We really enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend this villa for a stay in the north of Madeira.

The house is large and well equipped, with two bathrooms and two fire stoves and an open fire place in the kitchen, next to the gas stove there. The fire stove was useful in winter, as the site is then shaded by a large rock face most of the day. There is a very good restaurant at about one minute’s walk, and several good, not very touristy walks close by.

A super house in a superisla! Rotilio and Marilene have been magnificent guests. We arrived more than an hour late and were waiting for us with a smile and with some welcome gifts (fruit, wine ...). Halfway through our stay we ran out of firewood and they brought us much more than we needed. The house itself is very spacious with two double bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen on the upper floor connected by a staircase (somewhat steep) to the ground floor, where we have a living room with sofa, wifi, tv ..., a double room and a bathroom. On both floors there is a fireplace, which we lit every afternoon. At night it cools, about 10-14 degrees. Outside there is a barbecue and some garden. The only but of the house is the humidity that is in all the North zone, although in return you have the most abundant vegetation. Near the house, about 50m, there is a very good restaurant, from where a very nice walk to the next town. Very close to the house is the levada do calderao verde (very famous) and the levada do Rei, less crowded and also beautiful. In short, a TOP accommodation, highly recommended. We spent a month in this charming stone house surrounded by lush greenery, clean air and pleasant villagers. It was close to two restaurants, two minimarkets, a small wine museum with bakery and a rosarium with about 1500 species. The host couple were fantastic and quick to answer and solve all our questions, problems and needs. The sun did not reach down to the house during our stay, November 15-December 14, and the neighbor dog barked most of the time, but we will gladly return because we enjoyed it. Maybe we will come during a less humid period of the year.

If you love the northern side of Madeira, and I do, it is a perfect place to stay!

I had the chance to stay a few days at Uni Air and I had a stay that I will remember for a long time: location at the end of the entirely pedestrian and charming village of Jardim Do Mar, breathtaking view of the sea and the cliffs with a exceptional rooftop, the pretty studio is exceptionally clean and Carlos was an absolutely charming and responsive host. I will come back, for sure!

What a dream place with the best view we could have asked for. We felt so comfortable and would book Uni Air again at any time! Jardim do mar is definitely a “place to be” in Madeira!

Absolutely comfy, perfekt stay to enjoy the view and nature. Since there is just a small alley to the houses you can perfectly enjoy the silence and the sound of the waves. A lot of cool spots like Levada- and hiking walks or a farmer- markets are just a few minutes by car. Easy and clear check in and out rules and space for oneself during the stay.

We couldn’t be happier with our stay at Uni Air! It was spotless, cozy, and absolutely beautiful. The views are breathtaking (trust me you won’t want to leave). The location is in a very quiet, cozy little beach town with some great local spots. We were able to check in early and Antonio was super quick to respond. We definitely hope to come back one day!

Lovely studio apartment. Beautiful view over the sea but also felt very private. Quiet beautiful village but not a lot of choice of restaurant. Good spot from which to explore island but you really need a car. Also bring luggage you can carry (not pull along) the paths to apartment are beautiful but tiled and hilly! A really well located studio with everything you would want on your doorstep. Jardim do mar is a really quiet place with sufficient bars and snack bars.

This really is a slice of heaven. Perfect for relaxing for everyone who is searching a calm place. Incredible view. Clean place. Very quick and friendly communication. We went with rented car from the airport. A car is definitely recommended to get to all the areas you would like to visit on the island. Jardim do Mar is situated one hour from the airport, 45 minutes from Funchal.

A spacious loft, high in the village, with through the big glass sliding window and from the large terrace an extraordinary view on the coastal line , as far as S.Paul do mar in the distance and the atlantic waves. It is a perfect place to find relaxation in the sun. The interior is in good taste and comfortable. Jardim is a really beautifull coastal village, with no traffic at all, only steep narrow allies. Joe's Bar, near by, is good place for a drink and good food.

Possibly our best Airbnb experience to date. Super view from the terrace(!), very nice and peaceful town, and friendly cat. The only word of warning is that if you’re there on a Saturday night, bring earplugs as the music from the bar down the street went on until after 2am when we were there. Every other night it was just the sounds of crashing waves coming up from the beach lulling you to sleep. Recommended!

I will recommend this place to anyone. It is very well equipped and the terrasse has the most wonderful view. The village is a calm and relaxing place to stay. A car is necessary. It would be nice to have the possibility of hanging shirts and jackets somewhere, and also a place to dry wet towels. Otherwise the place just perfect. We will love to come back again.

You are looking for a sleepy village far from any Funchal tourism? Do you want to explore the entire west of Madeira north and south within 40 minutes by car? Do you want to experience and enjoy the most beautiful sunset from your own terrace? Then you are exactly right here! The apartment is located above the small village of Jardim do Mar. Means you have the best view of the village, the Atlantic and the chance of the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine. The terrace is a dream. The entire loft offers a lot of space for 2 people. The kitchen is properly equipped. The entire apartment is very clean and well maintained. The communication was perfect. Teresa, the house keeper, welcomes you hospitable at joes bar, accompanies you up to the apartment, explains you in simple sentences how the whole technology works etc. gives you a few tips on the surroundings and off you go ... I can highly recommend Frederico's Apartment and Jardim do Mar!

Great stay - Jardim do Mar is a beautiful town and the apartment has an amazing view. Highly recommended!

This place is the bee's knees for someone who likes to make their own way and live a bit more like the locals. Although in the middle of Tabua you can sit on the terrace and watch the ocean in complete peace, without neighbours or other disturbances. Your own garage, barbecue and complimentary bananas push this place over the scale. We'll definitely be back!

Eva is a wonderful host and you immediately feel comfortable in the Banana Cabana. The accommodation is small, but has everything you need. The view from the balcony is incomparable! The location is ideal for exploring the island, as it is located approximately in the middle and the road to the north begins in the village. You need a car, otherwise it gets tiring quickly because it always goes up and down. We highly recommend the Banana Cabana!

The photos are not lying and we enjoyed our two weeks in the "Banana Cabana" over Christmas and New Year. You definitely need a car, but once you are covered with drinks and food (make sure you have a look beforehand at what is already available! We even had coffee, vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, toiletries and and and in the house) you just do nothing here for a few days. We were alone and yet there was an IMMEDIATE answer from Eva to every question (via WhatsApp). Drive the "acesso local", try restaurants where you stand in line or where a fire burns and drinks Poncha :-) We will be back!!!

Eva and João are incredibly friendly and hospitable hosts! The Banana Cabana is super super super cute place to stay with an incredible view and everything you need for a pleasant stay! It is the perfect combination of a cute little hippie house surrounded by palm trees and a modern accommodation in terms of cleanliness and facilities. A true gem and the ultimate place to relax!

The Banana Cabana is a wonderful small and cozy cottage with great views. We felt very comfortable. The reception by Eva & João was uncomplicated and warm! In addition, the accommodation is very well located, you can easily reach everything.

Banana Cabana is beautiful. The honest photos help very well to prepare for the accommodation and the "size". Even a rainy day (which we only experienced half a day) can be spent. Since we come from a caravan holiday, being close together was not uncommon. The large balcony is beautiful and the real center of Banana Cabana. When you're not out and about, you spend your time on it, along with sunsets. The rooster from the neighbor replaces any alarm clock. Since it only gets light at 8:00 am - a good time! The Wifi is free, makes all the planning and research on site very possible. The pace is overwhelmingly good. And also possible private things can be done. Eva takes care of a great! Something can be clarified quickly with WhatsApp. Even towels / tea towels we were able to get on our 14-day stay unsolicited - wow! And her language skills leave no barriers. We can only recommend: book quickly! Eva herself is surprised how popular Banana Cabana is.

Wonderful apartment, near the center, promenade for walks. Very friendly hostess, in the housing complex there is a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and a sports hall - all are in the public domain. Recommend!

Nice apartment

Paula's place is really nice! The space is very clean and beautifully decorated. The balcony is perfect for watching sunsets and we enjoyed the hike down to the beach for great eating spots. If you are a light sleeper, may hear parking lot noises when doors are left open at night which we needed to do because of warmth. And you will need a car to drive to things in older Funchal becauce not interesting walking here , except the beach and pool are great here! Overall a very nice apartment and thoughtful host.

Stunning place! Sunsets at the pool and hot tub were beautiful. The apartments were very safe and well kept. Very relaxing. Lots of taxis just a 10 minute walk away to take you where you want to go. 100% recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing stay but still near some fun spots!

Short review: Just WOW!!! Detailed review: Paula is such a sweet person and fantastic host, best we ever had! We arrived to Funchal very early, she let us leave our stuff with her and did everything she could to let us check in as soon as possible, on the last day she let us stay longer in the apartment because our flight was late in the afternoon, she explained to us everything we needed to know about Funchal and recommended great restaurant where we eat delicious fish while enjoying amazing view of the ocean. Apartment is beautiful, it has more than everything you need for a pleasant stay, but even if it didn't it wouldn't matter because view from the balcony is so spectacular that you don't need anything else! Paula’s place is spacious, clean and has everything you need. The apartment is in a great location. You can have a pleasant walk into Funchal takes about 90mins or the bus stop is right outside. There are lots of local shops on the door step and Paula gave us lots of local tips. The apartment complex is very well looked after the jacuzzi with such a beautiful view can’t be missed. We hired the Toyota from Paula great value and a perfect way to visit the island. Paula also picked us up from the airport. Paula is very warm and welcoming. Communication was great. This is a great spot and Paula is an amazing host!

There is also a perfect promenade for jogging along the shore. Absolutely beautiful villa with stunning views in what felt like an authentic area of Madeira.

Beautiful villa, with fantastic views. The building is modern and bright, with all the amenities you might need. A great location to explore the island and great to come home to the pool after a day of walking. A car is definitely needed, Madeira has a fantastic road network which is well maintained and suitable for novice drivers. Overall a fantastic stay, thank you!

It is a very nice house with lovely views and very clean. It is on a super steep road and in a remote area so a car is necessary. The pool is tiny, but quite warm, so able to have a dip even in January.

This place has amazing views, very spacious, al areas are updated and extremely clean. The view is amazing. Its a great place if traveling w family and planning to visit by car different points of the island. Markets and shops are very close. All mattresses are very good.

We had super nice days in the Villa von Telmo and Mandy. The house is clean and really well equipped. Nothing was missing. The description fits the circumstances exactly. In particular, the view from the balcony of one of the bedrooms is breathtaking. We would love to come back.

We can't thank Mandy & Telmo enough for letting us stay in the hillside villa, such an awesome place ! Most perfect view you wil ever have from your bed. The styling is very modern and has everything you would expect from the picutres, but no picture can get the positive vibe around this place. Even a rainy day in Madeira is brilliant, because there is no need to go outside, thanks to 100 mbits internet and a 55" Samsung TV with youtube and netflix. The pool always has the right temperature and is very easy to handle. The BBQ stadtion we also used and even this experience was prime like everything. If I can recommand this place enough, you will not be disappointed !

Incredible space for a dream vacation in Madeira! Near Funchal, near the airport. It's really worth it!

A super house with everything you should need for a fab holiday. A real sun trap in January and a gorgeous sanctuary although not far from anything including the beach. The private pool was a true bonus and all was so clean and well organised. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to create a meal and once cooked you can sit outside looking across to the excellent views! I really can't think of one negative the place was perfect and we enjoyed it so much I'm sure we will be back. Bruno was so lovely and gave us lots of recommendations which all worked out well and added to our stay just wish we were still there !!!

What more can be said about this lovely place? Our stay was in January and I was a bit worried about being cold at night. A heater was provided but turned out it was not needed. We loved having our own separate space and kitchen, but also being able to join the common areas to chat with other travellers. Nuno was an excellent host and we appreciated all he did for us.

Wow wow wow! We fell in love with this place. Don’t hesitate - book it now!! Wish we’d been able to stay for longer, I wasn’t ready to leave! Will be back.

The stay at Roberto’s Airbnb was wonderful. Totally peaceful place and great to just relax and to start your daily tour to different locations on the island.

Truly breath-taking. Do not hesitate to book. If you opt to walk everywhere as we did, be aware there are dogs on the walk that will bark but they are harmless. Just either ignore them or crouch down so they know you are not a threat. They may follow you back but it's part of the charm! The centre of Ponta do sol is only 20 mins away and the walk is lovely (even in the dark) - the stars... are just... you'll see.

A small paradise above the ocean.

The yurt and the equipment very clean, pretty decoration, the site is really magical, the incredible sunset!

It's the perfect place to relax. The seaview is amazing, it is calm, but you also can explore the island from here. Everything just perfect!

Location and exceptional view for this very well equipped and furnished cottage. Beautiful infinity pool which I could not take advantage of because of the weather but it will be for next time ...? Nothing to say therefore for this accommodation, perfect on all points!

We spend around 5 nights in the smallest apartment of the three and it really is a lovely apartment. Really great view - we spend the most evenings with having a barbecue, while watching the sunset. The pool is also great and you have the same perfect view while swimming ! If you want to go for hikes, especially for some of the popular Levada hikes, it is the perfect base. We can highly recommend it.

As soon as we`ve arrived in Estreito di Calheta we felt super happy about our choice and holiday mode was instantly on. The estate is devided in 3 houses/apprtments of which all of them are very nice but the Palheiro house was even more special. A barn in old days it`s now a completely renovated and super cozy stylish little house perfect for a couple. Where to start? The vie out of the bed on the sea (!) is breathetaking, and also the rest is just on fleek. Very well equipped and furnished you´ll find everything you need. And even more. As we are garden lovers we were superhappy about the fact that the use of the commen herbal garden is more than wanted. The pool area (inifity pool) is extremely well trimmed and looked after. You`ll find yourself chilling inbetween palmtrees, hibiscus flowers and a view you won`t forget. The hosts themselvwes were super welcoming and great help in any way. As we were celbrating a birthday whilst our stay they even prepared a little birthday present. Oh and did I mention the herbal infusion as a welcome? I am counting the day to go back to beautiful cas Palheiro! Thank you very much and see you soon!

Our visit to Funchal was from 30DEC to 06JAN. The apartment is very easy to find and is located in a very quiet hill with an amazing uninterrupted view of the city of Funchal. Upon arrival, the host guided us to the dedicated car parking spot. (Located directly in front of the apartment). As we entered the apartment, we realize that it looked even better than the Airbnb photos. Everything was sparkling clean. The kitchen was impeccable and completely equipped. The dining table is incredibly gorgeous and on top were fresh fruit from the island that Francisco got for us. The two bedrooms were perfect for our family of four. The living room is open and spacious and the TV came with NETFLIX, which was perfect for our teenagers. The WIFI is extremely fast and the reception was very strong. Now let us talk about that private balcony. Is extremely hard to capture in a photo the feeling and the view from this gorgeous balcony. The view from the New Year's Eve firework was just, breathtaking. I really cannot describe the overwhelming feeling from that night. Madeira is an incredibly gorgeous island but Francisco's apartment took our stay in Madeira to another level. This place gets my highest recommendation to anyone looking to stay in Madeira. We are so grateful to had stayed in such amazing place. Thank you Francisco!!

A fantastic getaway! Even though it was chilly and windy we really enjoyed the evening view in the deck. The tent is very comfortable as is the bed. It was a stormy night but we felt very safe!

The accommodation is very new and spacious, but the best thing is the view! You have sun all day on the terrace overlooking the sea and in the evening the sunset. I would definitely come back again.

Our two nights cut off from the world were just amazing. We loved the place, it's a little haven of peace. We sleep lulled by the sound of the waves! You have to make your chimney fire to heat the water. We recommend everyone to have this experience!

This place is a one of a kind. It was a beautiful escape from the modern world with amazing sunrises/sunsets and starry skies. Getting the cable car to get there was great, but you need to make sure you're on time (6 pm) after hiking or sightseeing. Creating your own fire to grill your food or heat up the water for the shower was a new experience. Keep in mind that the shower water is more lukewarm than hot. There are also a few cats wandering about. Overall it was a magical experience! Not for everyone, but definitely for adventurers.

What an extraordinary experience! We loved sleeping in this place, at the foot of the cliff, at the bottom of a dizzying cable car. After 6 p.m. you feel almost alone in the world. The house is comfortable (no hot water but it's adventure!), The garden is great, the outdoor kitchen very pleasant. The rooms were very clean. Superb sunset and in the upper bedroom you sleep lulled by the sound of the waves. Thank you Albert for the local advice and addresses, we only want to come back! Our children aged 5 and 8 will remember this for a long time!

Alberts cottage was everything and more we had hoped for. Is really is a escape to nature. We were totally alone down there. There is no light so it’s perfect for stargazing. We also made a little hike up the hill where we had the most beautiful views! The kitchen had everything we needed. We totally recommend staying at Alberts place on this lonely part of the island if you’re looking for some days to relax and escape from annoying textmessages and news.

A unique place, host very helpful.

Is truly unique experience . Even during cold January and on rainy day it was so special! Just be sure you have enough of water with you and food for your outdoor dinner. The sunset is very special. It was not so cold at night and I was able to make a fire in the stove (not being experienced so much) using sticks from the beach.

It is a privillege to be in sutch a special place, you really feel gratefull and conected to the simple beauty of nature. The energy of the sea so close to you, it´s a good experience. We had a really good time in Albert´s place.

We stayed at Albert’s cottage at Achadas da Cruz from January 08 to January 15. We arrived just in time to catch the last cable car – the last cable car was at 1800. Hiking down after dark could be a challenge – especially without knowing the path in advance. Next day we hiked up and a few days later we hiked down. A great hike – the scenery was beautiful and for two young people (33 and 35 years old) in good shape, the hike for sure was manageable. Hiking down when dark (and possibly even wet/slippery) would be interesting and a tough one. “A unique escape to nature. Very memorable” – the headline is spot on! The cottage and the location is amazing - it was the highlight of our vacation. We were happy to be in a deserted area with no service and basic living amenities. We were able to shut off and really enjoy being on vacation. We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. Some days we would be home rather late after hiking around Madeira Island. Other days we would come home early and enjoy the sunset around 1825. Watching the big waves crashing onto the rocks at the beach was truly unique! Albert was a great host – he helped us throughout our stay, provided extra woods for the fire, provided useful tips – best tip was to eat at Restaurante o Forno! Great food, service and ambience! Albert is really committed to provide great stays for guests.

Superbly designed and luxury accommodation. This has to be one of the best locations we have stayed anywhere in the world. Joe was the perfect host , communicating punctually and personally meeting us to escort us to the cottage. He then gave us a plethora of very useful information about the local area and Madeira. Fantastic stay would highly recommend to anyone.

Fantastic few days in Joe's apartment. The apartment itself was perfect, with the stunning views and amazing setting. The village had a friendly feel about it, and Joes tips were all used. A great base to explore and walk , and 45 mins from the capital.

The location of the accommodation is overwhelmingly beautiful - the endlessly wide view from the terrace over the turquoise Atlantic, its salty taste in the air, the powerful surf and the direct connection to this nature were just right for us - we felt and lived in rhythm of the waves. The house is very well equipped and gave us everything we needed for a relaxing holiday.

We have stayed in many beautiful accommodations in many locations, but Joe's accommodation really stands out. For us it is perfect in every way. The house is modern, stylish and very well equipped. The location directly above the sea is sensational. We also really liked the privacy. There are no neighbors on the right and left. The small town itself also has a lot of atmosphere. Joe warmly welcomed us. The overall package of host, house, location and location is outstanding for my taste.

We had a great stay and would highly recommend this accommodation. The sound and the view of the ocean is spectacular. Joe was very responsive and helpful. We accidentally left some cash and documents in one of the bedside drawers, which Joe has kindly posted back to us.

We spent 10 days in that unique and excitingly located home in Madeira and really enjoyed our time there. Joe is a very friendly and open-minded host. He even arranged some additional kitchen items for us, which shows a great sense of hospitality. Jardim do Mar is a cute little village with now car traffic inside, which makes it more relaxed than other places. We can definitely recommend this place for a holiday!

If you want a stylish property in a beautiful location in a charming village it’s hard to envisage anything better .

Casa da Muda is one of the loveliest places we have stayed. So calm and tranquil, and the views and location are so beautiful. We loved the eggs from the chickens and the pool, and Luis is the most thoughtful, caring and generous host. On arrival we had bread and milk and fruit, yoghurt, cakes etc which was so lovely. Unfortunately during our stay there was sadly a big forest fire in the vicinity. Luis was so reassuring and came to see us and offered us his apartment in Camara do Lobos instead and we moved there for the rest of our holiday (which was just as delightful but different) and maintained contact with us the whole time to check we were okay. Cannot recommend Luis highly enough and we would love to come back to Madeira and Casa da Muda again one day.

Best AirBnb experience we’d tried! Such a nice place, view and everything. Very beautiful view to the Atlantic Ocean, a warm welcome with eggs, yoghurt, bread etc. Very cosy with the hens where we had our daily eggs from. All the basic things in the kitchen. And the staff did get us a baby bed for our baby - thank you so much!

Perfect little getaway in Madeira! So peaceful and quiet, just what we needed. Communication was great from the start and when our flight was delayed they waited until midnight at the property for us and even had some snacks waiting, very thoughtful :) I would say you would definitely need a car just as not much in walking distance, but beautiful place! For us it has been a perfect stay at casa da muda. If you are looking for a place to relax and to enjoy the silence of the nature, this little house with an unbelievable cosy atmosphere is the right choice. Nothing else to add to the feedback of the prior guests :-) Only keep in mind, that the next bigger supermarket is about 30min car drive away - so sometimes you need to plan ahead. Simply do your groceries when returning from trips you did in the eastern part of Madeira.

La Casa da Muda is truly the perfect place to be on holidays! We went there for a week as a couple and we were litterarly amazed by the property... The house is full of comfort, and Sandra had a lot of attentions at our arrival (basket of fruits, fresh eggs, butter and bread, Madeira wine, donuts...), it was a very warm welcoming! The location is as ideal to go hikking as is it to go to the beach. Nevertheless, you also can just chill at home. The pool has a stunning view on the ocean, and the garden is also full of surprises... You can wake up and pick up fresh eggs from the henhouse, gather fresh mint and fruits and lay out on the deckchairs or the hamac! So, thank you for everything ! We highly recommand this experience :-)

Luis little house including the garden and swimming pool was just marvelous. I do not have to repeat all the other positive feedback, but this was one of the best AirBnB apartment we ever had.

We‘ve had a wonderful time in this beautiful appartment. The style of the building, the interior and the garden are awesome. The pool was heated (in February) as promised, we were welcomed with little amenities like cookies and coffee, the cat family in the garden was really friendly, we harvested lettuce in the garden and we got lot‘s of useful hints and suggestions for day trips by our hosts. Thanks for everything! We will come back when we visit Madeira again!

Great host and home. Reuben and Lucio were great, informative and kind. The home had a fantastic view of ocean, only 2 min drive or 10 min walk tops to ocean. The home came equipped with unexpected amenities such as free filtered water, very helpful items like honey, garden that we were free to pick from and others. We also appreciated a true luggage area and closet. After booking my stay I was able to find comparable homes for less. We were happy all things considered and would definitely stay again.

We had a nice week at Woodlovers Mar. The accommodation is super clean, bright, modern and just as shown in the photos. The garden was awesome, we were able to harvest fresh fruits and vegetables every day. The residents in the other two units were super nice, everyone had their privacy, but also communal areas, where they came together. The small cat family was always there, so if you are not a cat lover, for the accommodation is not optimal. What you unfortunately could not see in the photos, that the house is located directly at a crossroads at the entrance and a large public car park, we thought it was a mega quiet away from any noise, that was a bit disturbed.

Everything was just perfect! Ruben and Lucio gave us many local tips. The house is absolutely amazing. And most of all: Cats <3

big hospitality, huge apartament with a great view with all needed facilities. calm, 100% countryside neighborhood, sound of bees, cows and roosters, which was kind of nice change after the first week in Funchal. lovely host, helpful and always ready (if not present, then on phone).

We were 4, a family with 2 children from 3 to 6 years old. We made the choice to sleep 7 nights at Sarah who welcomed us perfectly. From the house we could visit all the western part of Madeira. The house is on 3 levels. On the ground floor, Sarah's house, on the first floor of the rooms for rent and the really huge apartment on the second floor. The view is fabulous !!!

Really nice and quiet appartment to relax and enjoy breathtaking sunsets. It's not far away from some beautiful spots to visit. Sara was a really nice host and gave us many tips where to go. A must do is the cablecar on the western part of the island. I would recommend this appartment to anyone who visits the island and wants to stay in the countryside.

We had a lovely stay in Sandra's accommodation. There was clean and tidy and everything we needed from kitchen stuff etc.

Sandra and Christina are super nice. They came to discuss with us. We had little WoW touches. We felt that we were expected. Madalena do mar is paradise. We hear the waves inside the house it's so relaxing. Our return to Madeira will be at Sandra and Christina

Kitchenware and bathroom facilities are all fully equipped and you will probably live your life here. And it's a lovely place, clean and very comfortable. :)

We had a wonderful six days in this small apartment by the sea. Sandra and Cristina are very nice and helpful hosts. The apartment is modern and furnished with lovely details. It is very clean and has everything you need. Additional blankets for cool days are also available. There was even fresh fruit and traditional pastries at the reception. It is in a cul-de-sac with little traffic and is very quiet. We would love to come back!

All good comments, witch you can find before and after me, is absolutely correct. I was totally surprised about place, view, comfort and style in this house. You really can't be disappointed.

It was one of our best experiences with Airbnb so far. Marlize is a super host for a reason. She and her family received us as one of their own and for not a single moment we’ve felt as strangers in their house. Very welcoming and warm-hearted. Besides that we had from very friendly chats to very long conversations about philosophy, spirituality and so on together, which made this experience unique. The room was very cozy, spacious and good furnished. The balcony was one of highlights. In the morning we woke up to the sounds of singing birds and the warmth of the rising sun. Definitely recommended!

It is just as everybody said, a lovely family who make you feel at home and a charming house they built themselves. Marlize's husband, Corin will happily talk to you about Brazil, architecture, Indian literature and probably anything else as well! It meant breakfast lasted a long time but what a happy time it was. I enjoyed having my own balcony and spent many hours there relaxing and enjoying the view. The location is away from the tourist areas, I was happy just to stay nearby and walk to take the bus to nearby villages. At a nearby cafe, I got two little cakes and a coffee for 1.80 euros, really local prices! Just walking along the local streets was breathtaking, you don't have to go anywhere special or go on an organised walk. If you want to see a lot of places, I would recommend having a car as I found the buses a bit complicated to use, make sure you are well-prepared with your route number and return location before you set out - plus they are very slow on the tight, twisty roads. But it was all part of the experience as the local people and bus drivers were very helpful. Marlize was extra kind on check-out day when my flight was cancelled and I had to quickly arrange a new one which was very stressful.

The Marlize's place is full of character and design with such good taste. You will stay in a spacious room, comfortable bed, precious views from your window and little terrace. Everything is clean and you have all what you need for you stay. Breakfast is included, with nice selection of choice, in a warm living room. Location is perfect for people that wants to see all points of the island. Very quick access to the motorway (via rapida) to drive any place. The place is so quiet and so is the neighbourhood. The Marlize's hospitality is outstanding. She will make you feel very welcome as she really enjoys to interact with the guests.

It was my first Airbnb experience, and Marlize and her family were great hosts. I was traveling alone and they made me feel like I was part of the family and we had lot of great talks. If I return to Madeira, there is no other option for me than this family and their house.

Lucio is a great and attentive host, with lots of local sightseeing and restaurant tips. Loved the organic veggie garden and the (shared) pool outside the door.

We had a wonderfully warm welcome to our apartment, from Lucio, on arrival, and the team did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They gave great advice on where to go and what to do, and the apartment was a great base from which to explore. Jardim do Mar is a charming village, with good and interesting places to eat, and our apartment was spotlessly clean, well equiped, bright and airy, and altogether a lovely place to relax between excursions. The Woodlovers 'family' were easy to contact for any help or advice. Highly recommended.

Jardim do Mar is the perfect backdrop for any relaxing vacation in Madeira. It’s quiet and beautiful and provides the perfect resting spot for weekend adventures. Woodlovers is a mini oasis - and their quick communication and assistance with local recommendations is on point. The place has everything you need including laundry, a filtered water system to refill your water bottles and a wonderful shower to name a few.

One word: Amazing! Woodlovers house was just perfect in the middle of a small and very nice village. If you want to enjoy to be away from the crowds but perfectly located for trips and hikes (you will need a car) this place is for you. The house offers a Modern architecture and tries to act responsible with the environment, which we really liked. I.e. they offer a little garden with fresh fruits or spices that you can use to make a good morning tea. We loved to stay here and would definitely recommend this place! Best Natalie & Christian

Fantastic location. Right on the coast and Close to local supermarkets, restaurants and malls. Wonderful views from the balcony and flat comes equipped with everything you need and then some! Host is very thoughtful and hospitable. Really helped us out when our outbound flight was cancelled at the last minute.

Amazing apartment and views from the balcony both during the day and the night were awesome. The public areas are in need of a serious upgrade. The security at the rear of the apartment block is non existent, anybody could gain access, which made the front door swipe key system useless. Every lounger around the pool was dirty and broken. Do check with the host if there is any building work going on. I was only informed on arrival that there was extensive work going on in an apartment on the 5th floor, which started from 9am to 6pm. The meant lounging around the pool during the stay was untenable. I am sure the host will do their best to rectify these issues.

Nice place in a good location, close to sea front. I stayed in winter, so too chilly to hang out on the balcony in the evening, but would be great in warmer months. No barking dogs, which can be an issue for some places in more residential locations. No traffic noise. 10 minute walk to supermarket, 30 minute walk to Funchal or 5 minute walk to bus / Aerobus stop. Hosts extremely helpful.

The apartment is clean, comfortable and well equipped - you can prepare meals if you don't want to eat out, but there are numerous restaurants nearby. There are shops nearby as well, and frequent buses into the city centre along Estrada Monumental. There is of course that great view from the balcony - it's a real pleasure to watch and listen to the sea from there! Ligia and Johnny are great hosts - always helpful, with lots of local knowlege and quick to respond to any request. I can thoroughly recomment their apartment, whether for a short or longer stay on Madeira. :-)

This is one of the best places I’ve stayed with AirBnB. The pictures are super accurate and the property is really great: close to everything, with great restaurants and the mall super close by. And the view! What a view, sunrise spectacular every morning. On top of that Ligia was a great host, attentive to every detail and always present and responsive. Will definitely come back.

The apartment was very clean and well equipped, and the location was excellent - the seaview was outstanding, and the access to shops and buses was also very good. You can easily get into the centre of Funchal. If we come back to Madeira, we will certainly book here again.

Jose’s house is in an amazing spot! Beautiful views from all the windows. There’s an amazing trails that goes around the mountain to next little village with breathtaking views. It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere so maybe best if you have a car. Saying that I didn’t and I managed to get a direct bus to Funchal (number 103) it’s over 2 hours but it’s like taking a tour bus as goes all around the coast and 1300 meters up over the mountains. Everything was super clean and had everything you’d need. The little resturant next door does really nice food and the lady is lovely. A beautiful an non touristic part of Madeira.

Beautiful accomodation in the north of Madeira. One of my best airbnb stays ever! The view from the house is simply incredible, nature lovers will certainly love it. We received a nice hospitality and truly loved the fireplace in the house. Jose is a great host, his stay is unique and strongly recommended.

Where do we start. Well the view ,you’ll see that first. Magnificent sea views looking west along the ancient Caminho Real #23 along the cliff face. In summer you’ll really enjoy sitting on the terrace ,watching the sun go down. The villa is small but cosy. Two full bathrooms , a good kitchen , flat screen TV ( no idea if it works , we never turned it on. Too much else to see and do ). Decent WiFi. Going upstairs , don’t bump your head. First bedroom has three singles , master bedroom has a queen and a single. Both have a door leading to a small balcony ( for one chair ) to enjoy the view over the vineyards and sea cliffs. Free parking right at the O Arco restaurant, take the green gate to the left to walk around to the villa. We love the restaurant,ate there any time we were too lazy to cook. Foods good , prices are very reasonable. This villa is centrally located on the north coast so very handy for trips to any of the levadas, villages or walks on the north side. That said , it’s only a 45 minute drive to the south side for day trips. We prefer the north side as the scenery is better and it’s cooler in summer. We found the villa spotlessly clean. Jose was very helpful when needed. Book with confidence. It’s a lovely place at a great price.

Great place for secluded relaxation. A beautiful view of the ocean, next to a restaurant that does not interfere, but adds service. Fully equipped apartments. Near a walking trail over the ocean. At night, only the sound of the ocean and the full sky of stars. I recommend if you want peace and solitude.

Great house in a quiet beautiful place. You can’t name it completely secluded - there is a restaurant nearby, but this does not interfere at all. An ideal place to relax away from the hustle and bustle. We slept with an open window, under the sound of the ocean sleeps wonderfully, no extraneous sounds are heard. The house is small, six in it will be a bit crowded, but for four it’s quite good. There are two bedrooms in the house, one of them is a walk-through. The owner is very hospitable, quickly responds to all requests. There is a small shop in the village where the house is located, but the nearest supermarkets are relatively far away - about 20 minutes by car. In my opinion, you can’t do without a car at all. We rested together for two weeks. We do not regret the choice, we are very glad that we stayed here, we were very pleased.

we loved the north coast .. and this house is a gem that overlooks a portion of the ocean that seems only for you! the photos don't really make the idea of ​​the place .. live is better! the bar and restaurant (with the beautiful ocean view terrace) are another big plus!

Perfect home, accommodation at the top, do not hesitate, go there with your eyes closed. Stay in peace, superb sight on the ocean, the puffins will be with the appointment. We will be glad to come back.
