Delight was quick to respond before, during, and after the reservation process. She texted and checked on us during our trip. She also left a few local numbers in case we had any issues that needed immediate attention. This cabin was exactly as listed. The cabin was clean and fully furnished. We were able to purchase food to cook while at the cabin. The experience was relaxing for the family. I had school work to do and needed Wi-Fi; therefore, we went to the nearest town and found a McDonalds to sit at. The nearest Walmart, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and McDonalds were only 20 minutes away from the cabin. There is a laundromat ten minutes away. Outside of going to buy food, do school, walk to the river, we stayed in the cabin and played games and watched the local channels. We did not see the raft or life jackets; however, it rained while we were there and could not take advantage of it anyway. The river was amazing to walk to and sit by. We took our children with us on this trip. The cabin accommodated the four of us just fine with a futon for the youngest and a air mattress for the oldest. I would recommend this cabin as a couple's getaway rather than a family trip.

Very secluded spot, you are sure of your privacy. There was a lot rain prior to our stay and the dirt road was far far bumpier than expected in our hatchback. It didn't hinder us from our planned trips and the cabin was in a central location not far off the highway. We just planned on only driving in and out at most once a day. The open floor plan is nice and cozy. The river is a bit of a walk and there was quite a bit of poison ivy. The firepit was great. There were a lot of mosquitoes (likely due to the rain), but no bites when wearing bug spray. Very nice time, and great for a rustic adventure.

Delight was a great host! She responded quickly to emails before our stay and communicated well on what to expect upon arrival. The pictures and description was true to what was shown/described. Very very quiet neighborhood. Very peaceful! When we had to contact the keepers/host Delight about a fridge "hicccup" a resolution was offered immediately and Delight even checked in after a couple days to be sure we were still satisfield. Great hostess! Highly recommended place!

Delight responded very quickly to all enquiries. We were met on arrival and shown round. Help was close had we needed to call. Spacious one room cabin with nice bathroom and small, efficient kitchen area. Slight downside? Like many places in rural ME there is over a mile of unmade road, which leads to the quiet, undisturbed cabin. But there is great access to I-95 and the coast. We had a wonderful time.

I had the most wonderful time on our stay! It was completely secluded and private. Our days were spent exploring and our nights out by the fire. We had everything we needed in the cabin. So peaceful and perfect :-)

The host was most helpful in directing us to this cabin! Wonderful place. We spend three nights there while attending a nearby fair. The cabin was very nice and just what we needed. Private, lovely yard and fire pit. Deep Maine woods down a long dirt road! Very comfortable, all and all a great experienced and well worth the trip!

The place is amazing ! It is family friendly but could also support large groupe without any problem (we were a group of 12 adults). Every thing is here to cook (salt, pepper, oil...). The place was clean, the communication with the host was fast and efficient, kayaking on the lake was fun, and BBQ a pleasure ! Thanks for everything !

Kara was great, she communicated well with us before, during and after our stay. If you're looking for a hideaway, this cabin is perfect. It's cozy and clean with a nice view. The pond was beautiful and created the most relaxing atmosphere. And Kara was truly a wonderful host. She was very responsive and accommodating. She had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely stay again. Don't hesitate, you'll love it!

Kara was great! After a mix up on dates, she went out of her way to accommodate us. The "cabin" was perfect! Way better than a typical cabin. Kara left breakfast goodies which was terrific! The house is just as described. The photos are perfect. The pond is right in the back yard - beautiful even in the rainy/misty weather. The decor was great - loved the upcycled fan and suitcases! Wifi and dish tv along with board games nice additions (also outdoor games available). Would definitely recommend and hope to be back! My daughter loved the super fluffy towels.

This was a perfect place to relax, swim and enjoy the peaceful surroundings for a summer weekend getaway. It was comfortable, clean and well stocked with an assortment of edible goodies including delicious home baked bread. Kara was very accommodating and responded quickly to questions. We had a great view of Unity Pond with colorful sunsets and would certainly consider staying again.

My boyfriend and I spent a long weekend at Kara's place and it was perfect! It was exactly what we envisioned in a lake house. Cozy, good size and great views! The foliage was peak and the lake was beautiful. Kara left treats in the fridge (farm fresh eggs, homemade bread, a whoopie pie etc) that were delicious and much appreciated. Cabin is about 30 mins from Bangor and about 90 mins from Acadia and Moosehead Lake (which we visited during the stay). We couldn't have asked for a better experience and hope to visit again!

very nice cottage , bigger than we expected, various kitchen gears, board games etc.. last but not least, the kayak equipment is impressive : 2 single and one double, plus one pedal boat, we (6) had fun using them on the lake. really an excellent choice

The house manual was very clearly laid out and wifi was able to be logged in to. There were several remotes for the tv for some down time and it took some doing to figure them out. The wifi did not work in the bunk house which made the teenagers a little upset and they wanted to sleep in the main house so they could catch up with friends at night. The neighborhood is adorable and had a good sense of community. Overall we LOVED our time here and Elaine had everything we needed in the house for it to feel like home. The kids said it felt like Gramma had set it all up for us. That's a cozy feeling. The beauty of the surroundings far out weighed any small draw backs. For the price this place can't be beat! 7 people ranging in age from 42-8 were all very happy. The paddle boat, kayaks and water trampoline were big hits! The loons and sunsets in the evenings were breathtaking. Even the dog was happy there! Great peaceful location!

What a great place to get away from it all :) The house was comfy and clean. The kitchen had everything you need to cook up a storm and the view of crisp cool water got everyone in chill mode instantly!

Absolutely perfect. This is our second time at Elaine's camp and we hope it will not be our last. The cottage and bunk house have linens, towels, dishes, a full kitchen, kayaks, canoes and water toys and the most beautiful lakeside view and loon songs in the evening you could ask for.

What a terrific place! A secluded little island, access to the water, a kayak. WOW! We really didn't think the place is "cozy" but rather spacious and roomy. (Maybe cozy in comparison to the other houses on this island...) There's even room for more people in the little cabin next door. The place is highly recommended for families, couples or anyone who wants some cool quiet time. We stayed there for only one night, but we should have probably devoted more time to just staying there and enjoying the quiet lake waters. Two words of caution: 1. There's a water pump that turns on in the middle of the night. A little noisy, but we went back to sleep immediately after that 10-seconds burst of noise. 2. All food is your responsibility, as the place doesn't even have milk for your coffee. We had no problem with it (brought our own food and I can drink my coffee black), but you should be aware of it. All in all --- super highly recommended.

Listing description was accurate. A very lovely place that has every basic thing we needed. We wanted a somewhat isolated, quiet place for some self-reflection activities, and the location with its nature was perfect for that.

Elaine's cottage was one of the best airbnbs I've stayed at. It was clean, spacious, and pretty. I really loved the paddle boat and campfire. We had a lot of fun staying there. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a wonderful week spent in Canaan, Maine. Carleen and JC were the most wonderful hosts one can ask for. Their house was just beautiful , clean and comfortable! Everything was as promised! My stay at Jim's peaceful home (while my son spent a night at Unity College), was like having on my own personal retreat. It is a clean, calming, and creative space. I fell asleep to the spring peepers (and I hear you can often also hear loons on the lake). If you like feeling close to nature, but also want a very comfy bed to sleep in at night, a sweet home to hang out in (with internet) and access to a simple and nice kitchen, Jim's place is perfect.

We found jims place last minute driving from Acadia national park, and we were very pleased. Very hospitable, friendly and helpful. He was quick to respond to any questions I had, and made sure we were all taken care of. A little drive from town, good pizza, and a couple stores. We would definitely recommend staying at Jims.

My daughter and I were in town for Unity College's Instant Acceptance Day. The hotels listed were over 15 miles away from campus. I decided to Air BnB it! And voila! We couldn't have been happier. We told Jim we would be arriving late (around 10 p.m.). Jim said not a problem and stayed until we arrived. The property was a bit tricky to find, but it makes it all the more private and quiet. We had the bottom floor of the house to ourselves. The amenities were as described. Jim left eggs, bread, butter, and OJ for breakfast as well as coffee and teas. The property is amazing. My daughter was accepted so if we decide to commit to Unity, this will be our go-to place. Thanks, Jim!

Beautiful cottage full of woodwork and artwork on a serene lake. So quiet and peaceful! Jim was gracious, professional and welcoming. His little cat spent the night with us! Make sure you text Jim and get help finding the house. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps and the Airbnb map are off target but the treasure hunt was fun too!

Comfortable accommodation, especially liked the radiant heat in the floor of the bedroom on the chilly mornings! It was a great option for a place to stay while visiting Unity College. Eco-conscious house, rustic setting, about a 6 minute drive to town, but nice quiet location near the lake. Jim communicated really well. And Jasmine (the cat) was a friendly hostess. Recommended!

Great house! The pictures didn't do it justice, we would definitely rent this house again. Perfect for a nice relaxing weekend and only 15 minutes from the highway, grocery store, etc. The owner was very quick to respond to any emails I sent and was very accommodating.

Completely interesting experience! Beautiful location, very secluded. The experience is definitely akin to camping with outhouses, little or no power, outdoor cooking, and a hike from the parking lot, but certainly homey with an amazing tea selection and a little library. Handmade earth lodge is one of a kind, in my opinion. Lots to see and learn and interesting people abound, there is even a learning center on the property.

cute place and super cheap... but lots and lots of bugs!!!! i guess that's expected in a place like this, but maybe having one of those bug nets around the bed would help keep away the bugs? either way, a good stay. it was just hard to sleep because of the bugs.

We loved this place! Perfect for our August long-weekend getaway (a week would have been better). We’re 2 parents, 2 teenage kids, 2 dogs. The listing is completely accurate, exactly as shown only nicer. Philip and Wendi were great - friendly and responsive, available flexibly for our arrival and leaving. The neighborhood includes a nearby well-stocked grocery store, restaurant and ice cream place. The cabin is private, quiet, and beautiful, right on the water with complete access to the lake. There are many comfortable places to sit inside and out. Everything you need is there – fully-equipped kitchen, screen porch with hammock and grill, fire pit outside, life jackets & paddles for the kayaks and canoe, games and toys, even a dog bed. We brought long lines so we could hook the dogs up in the yard overlooking the water. We all enjoyed it and would love to go back again.

This was my best vacation so far! Kayaks, awesome lake with clean and warm water, swimming and diving, snorkeling, beautiful nature, great location and fantastic hospitality! We had everything that we needed and even more. I recommend Philip's place to everyone. There are great things here for everyone. Especially kids will love this place. Thank you very much Philip!

Loved the cabin! It had everything you needed to enjoy the lake - canoes, kayaks, snorkeling gear, fishing poles, etc. and a beautiful view of the sunset. The only issue we had was the crazy amount of bugs that got into the cabin. It was hard to enjoy our meal with them flying around.. Other than that, an amazing getaway in a wonderful town. Check out the Amish market (we got some delicious meats) and the nearby winery for a free tasting (Younity Winery, Clem is fantastic and loves to show folks around!).

The Rustic Lake Side Cabin provided us, four friends, with a fun, relaxing city-escape weekend. From kayaking and reading on the dock to cooking meals, roasting s'mores, and playing games, we couldn't have asked for more. Philip and Wendi were wonderful and quickly responded to every question and request. The cabin is also close enough to the coast to hop over to Camden for a morning hike and lobster roll. We would definitely come again and are missing the sunset already!

Philip was excellent and answered every question we had. He was very hospitable; greeting us and showing us all the amenities at the camp with a friendly and welcoming manner. He made us feel like this was our camp and that helped us to relax into a nice stay.

Jon and Martha were very welcoming when we arrived at the cabin. We told them our plans for the weekend and when we mentioned Acadia National Park they gave us suggestions for hiking trails. We took their advice and had a great day. The bed was very comfortable. It got a little cold at night but the cabin has a space heater that warmed up the cabin quickly. The Cabin is next to their home but has a separate driveway and there are a few trees and a small fence in-between the cabin and house. This place worked perfectly for us to spend one day in Portland on the way up and one day exploring Acadia.

Cabin was lovely, charming, light filled and spotlessly clean. Had everything one would need. Jon was very nice and I enjoyed speaking with him about out shared history of the area...Belfast, Knox, Freedom, Thorndike. I lived in the area for many years so it was fun to discover mutual acquaintances and the changes over time. Would love to return for another stay.

We loved staying here! Jon and Martha were so welcoming. They even had us over for a wonderful dinner on their porch one evening. The cabin was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The scenery surrounding the area was breathtaking.

He was very friendly and welcoming throughout our 2 night stay, giving us helpful recommendations about the area and Acadia National Park. The cabin is wonderful, clean and well-built (by the host!). Jean was very helpful in accommodating my arrival and departure, and the space was lovely. It had everything a person would require and more: clean, comfortable beds, a space for working or eating, a fully equipped kitchenette (minus an oven and range, but there was a toaster oven), including coffees, teas, cocoas, bottled water, and even extra travel toiletries in the bathroom! It was a very nice place indeed, and I will be staying there again if ever in Unity!

Jean is always available and her studio is so welcoming. She has a great sense of everything that a guest would need. This is our second time staying there and it is our favorite Airbnb.

Jean kept in touch via email and cell phone throughout the whole rental process and the room was great. We had no issues with the room or Jean at all and would stay in the apartment again anytime that we needed a place to stay in the Unity area. The apartment was super clean and the price was reasonable. I recommend Jean as a host and her apartment as a place to stay for anyone looking in the Unity area.

We fell in love with this cozy little gem on first sight. I love the decor, which to me was a 50's farmhouse feel. The decor was homey and the color scheme soothing, yet crisp. The studio was very quiet, and spacious feeling with all the windows. The studio apt. had the expectation of small, as it is listed as a studio. I expected a cramped feeling, and instead felt perfectly sized. The futon was pulled out and made on arrival, a wonderful unexpected task, already done for us. I might add, that with the futon extended, it remained feeling cozy and had an open feeling, plenty of room to move around. We were in the area for business, and this studio was less than 5 miles to make our morning appt. time. Perfect!! Jean also had a lovely display of teas which were the perfect end to a long day, with a quick kettle. The kitchenette was appointed and with careful attention to what a traveler just may need. The bathroom was lovely, the towels were divine and a nice basket of amenities were appreciated, as I had forgotten my shampoo and conditioner. We enjoyed the stay and we are hoping we behaved and will be allowed to return. We will recommend Jean's gem to anyone that may be coming to stay for the many annual events that are in the area. My husband and I stayed at Jean's place in Unity, Maine. It was perfect for the two of us. It is clean, bed is comfortable and the drive to the Bangor area was picturesque. Jean was easy to reach and although we did not meet her personally, we felt welcomed. We easily recommend at stay here.

Very sweet place, clean and neat, good wifi. Located in beautiful countryside. Fridge was stocked with soda and water, coffee and tea are available. Air conditioner was great. Jean was responsive to questions. Would definitely stay here again.

Great little studio - just as listed - perfect for our quick trip to Unity College. It is on the second floor above their new coffee shop (93 Main - open M-S 7am-2pm) that serves breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and light lunches. Place was close to everything we needed. Only heads up would be regarding the bathroom - it is very small - remember its a studio - shower very small and not a lot of room around toilet. Otherwise - beds were comfy - great kitchen space - and worthy of a return trip.

Prior to arrival, John did a great job communicating any issues or items to be wary / prepared for. As we were heading in the day after a big snow storm, this was extremely helpful. Additionally, John set us up with an friend of his who helped with snow removal, salting the driveway, and really any additional questions we had. Very positive experience all around.

We loved the chalet. My husband and I were in desperate need of some R&R after a very long few months traveling for work, and this was exactly what we needed. The pictures absolutely do the location justice as it truly is isolated, situated on a beautiful lake, and very cozy. That being said, anyone looking for a luxury space needing the full suite of the days' technological offerings would probably not want to be off the grid this much as there was no cell service and the internet was a bit sluggish-for us though, this turned out to be a very good thing. The home is massive and can certainly accommodate far more guests very comfortably- the kitchen is huge and great for communal cooking and eating, there's a large finished basement (nothing fancy, but totally works!), and the upstairs has a cute "balcony" bedroom where one can have a fantastic view of the lake and sunrise in the morning through the floor to ceiling windows. The hot tub was also a nice treat in the evenings since we were there during a few snow storms! Lastly, although you are off the grid, John was fantastic in communicating all important information to us and letting us know we had local assistance should the need arise. He has a few great neighbors who help manage the property while he is away doing things such as shoveling and plowing. We felt totally taken care even in the most inclement conditions which we were even more grateful of when we had a bit of a rental car snafu due to a whiteout blizzard that had us laid up in the chalet a few extra hours after checkout as we awaited a new rental car delivery to the home. John was incredibly understanding and kind which we appreciated tremendously after having our nerves shot with having to deal with the whole thing. We would definitely return! A summer visit would be just as magical I'm sure :)

The rustic charm and natural beauty of this lakefront camp cannot be beat. We felt honored to stay here. The home was comfortable and clean with a well appointed kitchen. We loved cooking on the new gas grill while we soaked in amazing sunsets from the deck. The paddle boat was a great way to explore. We actually loved not having wifi access as it brought us back to a simpler time. Oh and the loons sang such beautiful songs each night. Camp Lary has not seen the last of us!

My family and I had a great time at the Lary's camp, it had the best views. It was very quiet and peaceful, the house was big and very comfortable for 10 people, my grand kids had a great time fishing on the lake. They even would get up in the morning and go for a swim. It was one of our favorite vacations, we would definitely go back to the Lary's camp. Thanks Peg and Teri for sharing your home with the Dupell family!

We had a wonderful time on this lovely lake full of childhood memories. The camp was pleasantly spacious and comfortable for 9 adults. Our hosts were very accommodating, even delivering fresh vegetables from their garden! The sandy beach was a pleasant surprise on such a rocky lake and we spent a lot of time in our kayaks. Loons, geese and a bald eagle made our week complete. We highly recommend a visit.
