Places to stay in Port Austin

Places to stay in Port Austin
Studio cottage w/ beautiful beach access to Lake Huron. Great fishing, boating, & hiking nearby. The Caseville Cheeseburger Festival in August is a highlight of the region. The area offers kayaking of the shoreline of the Michigan Thumb, including Turnip Rock in Port Austin. The cottage is on a wooded lot (2 miles from downtown) and sleeps four. In 2019, The Blue House added an enclosed entry porch w/ lots of sunlight to enjoy your morning coffee or relax with a book on rainy afternoons.
  • We enjoyed our stay at this cabin! Great location to the beach and nearby hiking. The dark sky park in Port Austin didn’t work out for us to star gaze because of clouds, but check it out if you stay. The heater is a bit noisy at night, so bring a fan or noise machine if staying in the winter. Enjoy!

  • Great cottage, quiet peaceful location, has a fire pit. Overall recommend!

    Laura2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Killer location when visiting the thumb. Port Austin 18 minutes out. Nice open concept house. All the best amenities; WiFi, hot water, fire pit, even Xfinity voice remote on tv.

  • Stayed with myself and two children and it was a great set up for our situation. So clean, and the thumb area is so beautiful. A great area to explore.

  • Such a cute little cottage. She seems to have thought of everything a guest could need. Smooth and friendly check in, and immaculately clean and well maintained. We were even greeted by a family of deer in the morning!

    Elizabeth2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 would recommend. Very clean. Great location and just out of the craziness of caseville during the cheeseburger festival

    Josh2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

  • The cottage was exactly what we wanted, right on Lake Huron, just enough for 2 of us. It was beautifully decorated which I don’t say often. It was super small but had everything you could possibly need. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Harbor Beach I would 100% recommend here and I’m sure I’ll be back!

    Dani2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • I saw this place online and was not disappointed. The place was perfect!! Super clean, amazing location right on the lake with views you just can’t beat it. Joe was very helpful with quick communication on any and all questions. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy his place again. Felt like my home away from home with all the right touches and amenities. Would definitely recommend this cute little cottage if you’re ever in this part of MI.

    Chad2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very clean. The host was gracious and gave me the complete privacy I was looking for. It was the perfect place for my weekend sabbatical. Would work really nice for a quiet couple's getaway.

    Tammy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this cozy cottage. Coming from a busy city where I wanted to get away from all the loud noises this was perfect, the view on the morning was breathtaking (and this is in the winter) and our host Joe made me feel so welcomed and was very patient and helpful with anything I needed. I honestly cannot wait to come back in the summer and enjoy it even more. I would definitely recommend this stay and my host Joe.

    Natanael2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice clean house. This place had all the amenities I needed. Joe was great with communication and quick responses. If I’m in the area again I will look for this house first.

A renovated old church, The Kinde Chapel is a great place for anyone seeking an interesting place to stay that offers all the necessary amenities. The Kinde Chapel is close to family-friendly activities like the beaches of Lake Huron, horseback riding, farmers markets and more! You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the neighborhood, and the light. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and big groups.
You will have full access to the home while you stay. A large main hall, extra large kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms.
Quick drive into Port Austin where there is a great farmers market, kayaking, public beach, and restaurants and bars. 15 minutes away from Caseville which has restaurants/bars and beach access. In town there is a great restaurant called The Pasta House just a block away (walkable) and a bowling alley down the road. Neighborhood also offers a golf course, winery and horseback riding just minutes away.
  • This was a unique find for us, and we loved it! We stayed in the Kinde Chapel for 3 nights. The amount of space was wonderful. Catherine was very quick to respond to any questions we had.

    Stephanie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the 2nd time friends and I stayed at the chapel! Great place for a friends weekend with plenty of room for everyone and not too far from Port Austin and Caseville! Considering the location and price I would recommend staying here.

    Courtney2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here. The place is extremely spacious. Towels and sheets were soft and comfy (I have sensitive skin). The board games were lots of fun, too. Thank you!

    Yuanxiao2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place was so perfect for a surprise birthday trip to the thumb. Plenty of room for a good size crowd to not get too cramped! There were plenty of dishes, towels, and anything else we needed!

    Mandi2019-08-11T00:00:00Z

Quaint old fashioned cottage, right on the water of lake Huron, it may not have all the technology but the view is worth a million dollars!! It has fireplace, and a porch area for enjoying the view, eating at, and playing games. It has a stand up shower, and all the comforts of home minus the technology. If you need a place to get away and refresh yourself this is it. It's very quiet. I've noticed 2 things from the fresh air, you eat more and sleep more!!
The beach in front is rocky but after you get out in the water a bit it gets sandy. You will definitely want to have beach shoes so you don't stub your toes. There also is a fire pit outside, which I use more frequently. There's nothing like enjoying a smore under the amazing stars. On a clear night it's breathtaking and if you keep watching closely, you may see a shooting star!!
It is the view of the lake that is captivating, the peacefulness and the quietness of the neighborhood, is so renewing, getting away from the hustle and bustle, I'm sure you'll want to come back! I've been coming since I was a little boy, a piece of my heart belongs here for sure!
  • Great location and price! John’s cottage was perfect for our family of five and had everything we needed for our weekend getaway! The view of the lake was spectacular and we really enjoyed sitting in the sunroom, watching the sunset and waves. John was super helpful and quick to respond to questions. We would definitely recommend his place and will certainly come back!

    Jennifer2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This charming cottage is a place you will not want to leave. The porch is amazing. You will enjoy eating meals, covered from any bugs (note: there were less bugs than I expected outside), while enjoying the fresh, lake kissed air, and relaxing sound of waves. While we were there, the waves were 3-5 feet, so we had a blast swimming in them. Lake Huron is gorgeous, even more so when it’s in the back yard. The lawn is soft, lush and green; A barefoot walker’s dream. You can take a beautiful stroll to the lighthouse a few doors down. We spent a lot of time sitting in the swing by the water and fire pit. There is so much to do right at this cottage, you really don’t even need to get back in your car if you don’t want to. It is not common to be in a place where one may enjoy such a magnificent sunrise AND sunset. The beds were far more comfortable than we expected. We loved the games. There are even yard games; there is a vintage croquet set of high-quality workmanship (they don’t make things like they used to). The kids loved it. They had never played it before. We all had such a relaxing time. We hope to return.

    Dani2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The magnificent view of Lake Huron is only the icing on the cake of a stay at John's place. There is almost no traffic on the road to his cottage. And the sights on that road are lovely. If you cannot relax here, you cannot relax!

    David2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • John's place has a nostalgic feel that cannot be recreated. From the vintage furniture to the faint smell of wood smoke, I couldn't help reliving childhood memories of a similar cabin we stayed at. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The view and sound of the waves crashing cannot be beat. We appreciated all the board games and many clean towels. My family created some fond memories and I would love to stay there again if we visited the area.

    Jamie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome vintage cottage on Lake Huron. Access for kayaks on property at waters edge. Outstanding view of the lake. Many local attractions within 20 minutes. John is super friendly and a great host.

    Allison2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you love quaint surroundings, a porch with early morning warmth from the rising sun, the sound of waves and birds, this is the place to go!

    Suzanne2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage brought back wonderful memories of the places my parents would rent when I was a kid--right down to the croquet set. It's a sweet little cottage right on Lake Huron. If you want a place where you can open the windows and hear the waves crashing, this is it. Very clean, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. The bathroom is also stocked with toiletries including hair dryer. John is a fantastic host--friendly and helpful. He even supplies the firewood. The keyless entry made checking in a breeze. A couple of notes future renters might find helpful: Internet in the area is pretty much non-existent if you happen to have TMobile. The only place in Port Austin I was able to get a signal was at the Lake Street Emporium. (But unless there's someone you must check in with, the peace and serenity that comes from having no internet at the cottage is definitely an added amenity.) Also, the deer in this area are plentiful, so you'll want to be extra vigilant when driving, especially at dusk. Explore the area, and enjoy the tranquility that comes from staying at John's place!

    Martha2018-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • I just wanted to let you know, it WAS a million dollar view!! The cottage was filled with such character and I could feel God's presence there! We can't thank you enough for letting us come stay there! It was just what we needed! The radio was on the perfect station! and no tv or phone service helped us to connect on a deeper level... God Bless you and your Cottage! We want to come back next year too!

This beautiful cedar cabin offers a quiet location half-way between Caseville and Port Austin. Set just off M-25 on the beautiful sandy beaches of Champagne and Whippoorwill access points. This is a campers paradise, without the tents! Cabin is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, oven and stove, plenty of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, but requires a dishwasher to be assigned.
The entire cabin is there for your needs. Feel free to use the kitchen, fire pit, drive way, yard, swing, chairs and leave a note if anything else is suggested for future stays.
  • We had a great time. Beautiful quiet location close to the lake. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed.

    Ian2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin can't wait to stay again next summer 😁

    Kimberly2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sean's cabin is an absolute delight. Comfy beds, a cozy living room, a kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook (you'll have to provide the groceries, obviously), DVDs, board games. As the listing indicates - there's no cable or wifi. Cell phone service was spotty (as it is everywhere in the thumb). We felt like we were family visiting a family cabin - that should tell you how inviting it is. We had a blast and would definitely stay here again.

    Michelle2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Good escape, nice place to stay for a few days. Plenty of thing to do not far at all. The beach was only a 5 minute walk and it was beautiful...

  • EJ's place is the PERFECT getaway. I loved waking up to the sight of the lake and going to sleep to its sounds. So lovely to have access to both the house and boathouse. Can't wait to go back!

    Kaylan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • 5 stars all around! EJ's a super responsive host, and his home and boat house(!!) were the perfect 2-night midweek getaway for my wife and I from Detroit. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit, picked up pizza from G's Pizzeria (cauliflower crust, wow!), ate at Mango's brightly decorated Mexican restaurant, checked out nearby Iargo Springs (like being in the Pacific Northwest - gorgeous!), enjoyed rare dry Michigan wines from Newman Court Mall, and mostly hung out in the boat house with books, enjoying the sound of wind and waves. Paradise =] Book while you can!

    Nathan2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and the boat house both had amazing view. There were extra comforters, towels and bedsheets that can be used. Kitchen was properly stocked but bring you own food supplies. There was coffee too. Make sure you don’t let the little ones on their own out in the back because there is work in progress for building ramp/deck. I and my family had great time at the cabin and we will definitely be coming back.

Perfect getaway for a couple to slow down and enjoy the lake view from the living room. Take a selfie with Rex, the cottage's protector. Come join us on the healing waters and find your safe harbor.
One of six cottages in Anchorage Retreat Center. Shared lakefront and picnic tables, also there is a welcome area in the hall of the Main House with board games, dvds, books, and info on the area.
Nestled in between the lovely towns of Oscoda, Harrisville, Tawas and East Tawas, there are plenty of shops and restaurants to wander through. Golf Courses, Fishing, Water sports and ATVs are a major pull to the area where the Great Lake and the mighty Au Sable River meet.
  • I really appreciated having a “home away from home” during my stay. Elena responded very quickly to any questions or needs that I had. With all of the recent closures, I was especially glad to have a full kitchen and living room. The cabin was cozy and clean and I will certainly stay here again when I’m in the area.

  • What a wonderful place! Pictures do not do this place justice, but maybe that's because it's a lot about the vibe and personal touches. This was my best airbnb experience so far. I highly recommend staying here, and plan to visit many more times! A peaceful and comfy cabin on the lake, meditation, reiki, making new friends... what more could you ask for?

    Jessica2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! Took a few suggestions from the guild book and had a fun night in town. Woke up to the beautiful, icy view of the lake.

  • This place is awesome, we couldn't ask for anything better than this place. The location is very convenient, you are in the middle of 2 towns were you can get groceries or whatever you need, also the access to the beach is just few steps from the house, you would want to go stargazing. Corey was very responsive at all times, this is what I call a Super Host.

  • Wow! What a great vacation we had. The place has a huge yard for the kids and it’s right on the channel so we would watch boats pass all day on the huge deck. Also, it’s a less-than-a-minute walk to the beach with a boardwalk and play structure. We also went to the Kayak Shop for drinks, live music and dinner quite a bit (4 minute walk). There’s so much to do in this beautiful little town that we were never bored! Margaret was an excellent host. She was friendly and helped us immediately with an inquires we had. She clearly takes pride in the place too! The place has a wonderful cozy vibe and is perfectly clean. The trip was everything we wanted and more! Highly recommend. Thanks Margaret, we will be back. :D

  • Carol's cabin is stunning! My friends and I (total party of 7) had plenty of room for sleeping arrangements. The amenities are great (hot tub, ladder golf, large back deck, etc) and Carol is easy to communicate with. Fantastic place to stay if looking for a weekend getaway

    Nicholas2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Carol’s place is just as described on her listing. It is a beautiful log home right across the street from Lake Huron. It is a quick (<10 minute) drive to downtown Port Austin and sandy beaches. There is a bar/restaurant within walking distance, as well as some public (but rocky) shores of Lake Huron. Carol is a great communicator and adds special touches throughout the home. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

    Ellie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Carol’s place. I surprised my boyfriend with this trip for his birthday. It was just what we wanted. This place is very secluded but yet just minutes from Port Austin. Loved the back yard and the coziness. Carol was quick with responses and gave helpful recommendations about our stay and the town. Will be back!

    Samantha2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A good location for a quiet getaway.

    Ashley2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Carol’s place was great! It was big enough for all of our guests. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked with everything we needed. Carol left information on the area and gave us ideas on things to do. It was very hot on the first day without AC (Although it seemed to be an unusually hot day for the area). Carol had opened all the windows and turned the fans on to help cool down the place before we arrived. She left detailed instructions and communicated with me quickly.

    Elizabeth2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house and nice private location. Although there are neighbors, it is still very quiet and secluded. Carol was wonderful and responded quickly anytime I communicated with her. I would highly recommend her home for a nice quiet getaway!

    Erin2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nicely appointed cottage with many extra features. Very spacious and clean. Short drive to sport Austin and several nearby beaches. Nice extra touches with leaving stuff for s’mores by the fire and waters in room. Highly recommend staying here. Owner is very responsive to any questions I had before and during our stay.

This cottage lake front property is great for families and is located near downtown Port Austin. This property includes kayaks, pedal boat and a fire pit on the beach front.
Our cottage has 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom located upstairs and 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath located in the basement, which has a separate entrance that faces the beach. (This is good information to know if you have small children) There are 2 full beds upstairs, one twin, and a pullout couch. There are 2 twin beds in the basement. The basement isn't as nice as the upstairs but is still comfortable enough to sleep in and a great space as you're exiting the beach front and need to dry off or rinse off sand! Garbage pick up is on Monday and it all goes in the wooden bin up by the road. We have parking in front of house for larger groups (fits 8 cars and boat trailer) Two grills on the property, one gas and one charcoal Kitchen is stocked with all the basic utensils and cookware. There is a coffee maker and microwave available. Kitchen table seats 6 ( there are 3 extra tin chairs in the basement) Main floor has 2 AC window units Tv with DVD player is available in the family room The beach has a fire pit on the water *Lots of rocks on the beach, so I would recommend water shoes. The Cottage is 2 miles from Port Austin and 17 miles from Caseville 4 useable kayaks and a pedal boat are included with the cottage 2 reclining patio chairs -- basement. There is a washer and dryer to use for your stay -- located in the basement. There is a code for both doors that you will be given shortly before your stay If you have any questions please call Sandy at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
  • This property has a great private beach and a spectacular view of the sunset. The beach is large and clean. My 11-month old granddaughter had a wonderful time in the sand! There is lots to do; picnic table, paddle boat, kayaks, inflatables, cards, games and a fire pit. The cottage was very clean which is a must for me. There were lots of linens and the kitchen is very well stocked with pot pans, utensil, flatware and tableware. We were able to find everything we needed. We did not use the grill but there is one available. A nice plus is a washer and dryer. We had a wonderful time and all of the neighbors we encountered were very polite and friendly. We had four cars and there was plenty of room for parking. The property is very close to "downtown" Port Austin which has nice places to eat and several shops...and great ice cream and bakeries. We had dinner at "The Bank" which is a restored bank founded in 1884. The food was very good and all five of our group found just what they wanted.

  • We had an exceptional stay. What an amazing sandy beach. This is definitely the star factor, even though all aspects of our stay were great. Enough can't be said about the beach. You can walk out into the water for what seems like miles, with the water only up to your chest and this is when the water is high, as it was this year. With more usual water levels, the water is probably only up to your belly button. AMAZING! Soft sand projects endlessly into the water. You can walk firm footed pretty much endlessly on soft sand with absolutely no weeds, muck, etc. The sand goes all the way up to the house. I literally went barefoot for the entire 4 day stay. I brought sandals, water shoes, and sneakers, but needed none of them. We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boating, bonfires, and grilling. The sun sets square in front of you across the water. Majestic views. We took great pictures. It felt like being home. Basically, everything was provided, except food. There were extra water toys for kids. Even propane and bonfire wood were provided and included. I definitely plan on staying again. Sandy was very prompt every time I had a question. She would respond almost immediately, generally within just a few minutes. Thank you Sandy. I hope to talk to you again next year! :)

    Sharon2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy is a great host. She has a wonderful home right on Lake Huron with some of the best sunsets I have ever seen! You will not be disappointed as there is a lot to see and do in the surrounding area.

    Javier2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cottage in the perfect location! We absolutely loved the sandy beach and bonfires while watching gorgeous sunsets. No WiFi or cabletv, but “unplugging” for a few days was kind of nice!!! We will definitely like to come back!!

    Nikki2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome beachfront cottage! Everything a family needs to make some great vacation memories! Couldn't ask for anything more... including the excellent host!

  • This place was perfect for our family get away. We can’t wait to come back.

    Nichol2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean house on the beach. Both our teenagers and littles enjoyed every minute. Thankful there were extra towels and linens available so we didn't have to pack them. Laundry services was an awesome amenity for us even if we lived in our swimsuits. Would definitely consider booking next year if we can fit it in our kids schedule. The things we had to adapt to (cons): * full bath listed but really only 3 piece : no bath tub (my 17 month old is not a shower fan) * basement was awesome for laundry and a second toilet, especially if you were wet and sandy (my 3 year old loved this convenience) but my teenagers thought it was creepy to sleep in (thankfully we had a lot of room on the main floor) * the shower on the main floor is beautiful but in an awkward place (so if you are rounder like us..challenging to enter) and if the doors aren't just right...water leaks (after a shower or 2 we figured it out) Overall, I would book this listing next year like I mentioned. We have great memories and enjoyed every minute!

    Pamela2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy’s place was perfectly clean and exactly what we needed for a weekend at the lake. The beach is large and sandy, and the fire pit on the water was great at night! Downstairs bathroom was a bonus when we were sandy. Would recommend for an easy weekend away.

It's close to family-friendly activities, kayak & bicycle rentals, and is about 19 miles from Caseville. The sandy bottom in the water is great for both children and adult swimming.
Kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, coffee cups & glasses. There is a dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker, and toaster. Outdoor gas grill is also available for use.
  • Nice quiet place with private lake in the backyard. My wife, 2 kids & I really enjoyed ourselves. Home had lots of updates inside & was very clean. Perfect for a couple or a family getaway. I recommend to others & will return again with my family in the future.

  • Just ended an absolutely perfect family vacation with our friends and our young ones at this place and I cannot recommend it enough! The location is absolutely beautiful!! It’s so peaceful here and caters to adults and kids alike. The place is clean, updated and spacious. Herb has thought of everything you will need during your stay and if you end up needing anything else- he’ll get it to in the blink of an eye. Herb was thoughtful in including some tips on local recreation and food too which we took advantage of. You will not be disappointed with this place!

  • Wonderful house on a private secluded beach. It is a great place to spend some down time with your family. It is also only a couple minute drive to downtown Port Austin.

    Adam2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely long weekend at Herb's place! Check in was very easy and Herb was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The location was beautiful - very private and right on Lake Huron. The beach was pristine and Herb even stocked firewood for us so we could roast s'mores every night! The beach is a perfect mix of sunny and shady. The house has everything you need and then some. Lots of space for a family of four to relax, play games, or watch tv. It was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable too. Can't wait to come again.

The knotty pine walls and hard wood floors cottage is located on the sandy shore of Lake Huron between Caseville and Port Austin. The sunsets are unique every night. Relax and enjoy your stay. In 2020 all LED light bulbs were added to the interior of the cabin.
The master bedroom has a queen bed with lake view & access. Bedroom 2 & 3 share a bathroom. Most of the cabin has knotty pine walls and hardwood floors. The family room "blue room", has a TV with access to WiFi for streaming your movies. We do keep DVDs, books, games and cards at the cabin for our guests use. There are 2 kayaks out for your use, at your own risk.
The cabin is located in a family neighborhood. The Farmers Market in Port Austin is a must on Saturdays from May until October. Port Austin & Caseville are small towns with a lot of charm.

  • Wonderful cottage right on the lake , exactly as described. Indoor and outdoor porch for the cool or rainy nights. Nice sandy beach right out front with steps going down. Clean upon our arrival with all amenities that would be needed. 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, full living room and a laundry room. More room than home, (not really but more than enough for vacation) . Lynda was very prompt and nice when we asked questions prior to booking. Check in was easy just as she described. • Nice little house, very clean and convenient to town and beach. Single bathroom is very small and would be inconvenient if all beds were occupied- we had a family of 3.

    Fiona2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice cottage in a great location. It's very clean and well maintained, and since it's not far from downtown, it's on the city water system, so you don't have to deal with all those well water issues. Check-in was easy, and the host was great to deal with.

    Tom2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This home was perfect for 6 people. The location is everything- right by the boat launch, close to restaurants, shops and the grocery store, super close to the beach. It had everything you would need to stay! All you need to bring is your clothes, and food. We made dinner, we bbqed, we even made brownies! Beds are comfortable, but a pillow from home would be a good idea. We would also suggest bringing a fan as it was really hot. There is one ac unit in the front of the house. The house has like 6 standing fans, but we were still hot with 2 fans.

She left us the sweetest basket of treats to celebrate the holiday, and the electric fireplace on the wall was just the right touch to feel at home. Being just a few blocks from the adorable little downtown was just right to adventure into the cold and come back to warm up. Her directions for check in and the weekend were spot on! She even had some books and maps of East Tawas, which led us to some great cross country skiing with rentals from Nordic Sports. If you like to wake up to the perfect cup of joe, Suzie’s Brew’s is just a few blocks away. We will definitely be back

Knotty pine walls in bedrooms. Many tables to do homework. Picnic table, propane gas grill. Cabin is about a 4 minute walk to the lake and Philp County Park. Big parking lot at this park. Two state parks are close by. I utilized Mosquito Magnets that have been very effective. Check in, 5:00 PM or after. Check out, noon. Pets welcome, but must be supervised or caged 100% of the time. There is a gated dog pen in back of cabin. Most guests have their dog(s) leashed while they sit by the campfire.
I had an English Spring Spaniel named Banjo. He loved visiting the cabin and catching Frisbees on the beech (and and any place where there was enough space). See pics. I sometimes stay next door during the year. My niece and nephew own the place next door now. Guests at Banjo's Getaway have total access to the cabin. Sometimes I am nest door, sometimes I am not. I have had guests pitch tents for the kids.
Neighborhood is wonderful. I have relatives in three nearby cabins, within 200 to 300 feet from this cabin. Over Labor Day week-end there were about 24 of my relatives staying in 5 different cabins within 200 feet of my cabin.
  • The cabin is dated but that’s part of the charm. Was very clean and had everything we needed. The beach was close and very nice. Neighbors were very friendly and nice. We will be back again.

  • Great, relaxing house 5 minutes from the beach. Nice roomy couches and bedrooms. Everything to cook a meal. Thanks for letting us stay at your place. We'll be back!!

  • Great, comfy home about 5 minutes walk to the beach. Fenced in area for dogs to go out. Pots, pans dishware and silverware to prepare dinners. Will definitely be back, Nice relaxing vacation.

    Lisa2020-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin with plenty of beds, seating and room. All appliances including a toaster, coffee pot, pots, pans, utensils, air purifiers, cable tv, fans in the bedrooms for white noise, and a water softener are at the cabin. Everything was very clean and well laid out. The price point is perfect and offers MUCH more then any of the local hotels offer. The only thing it doesnt have is an oven, washing machine, and a dryer. We will definitely be booking again soon and recommending this place to friends.

    Jacob2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Banjos was the perfect spring break getaway. Comfy. Quarter mile from lake, and even in winter the beach is spectacular. Kim was easy to contact and work with. I hope to use the Banjo place again.

    Josh2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Banjo's Getaway is a great little place that is unexpectedly larger than it looks. Check-in was simple, the place was spotlessly clean, the shower temperature and pressure were just right, and the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom amenities were great! (Note: bring towels!) At just six miles from Port Crescent State Park and the Dark Sky Preserve, it was a wonderful location for my solo retreat.

    Sherrema2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Good host, comes with crockpot and other assorted kitchen items. All in all a very good deal and I would recommend and stay again.

    Colton2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Simple but comfortable accommodations. It was exactly what we expected. Furniture and interior is dated, but still functional. Comfortable beds to sleep in, a place to have a campfire, and a short walk to a really nice little public beach. The dog run in the backyard was helpful. Also within 15 min drive of both Caseville and Port Austin. Kim is super friendly and checked on us to make sure everything was ok.

  • A charming little house in a quiet neighborhood just a block from a beach and playground. We had everything we needed to cook, and there were games to play. The front porch was a nice place to relax and have a cup of coffee. The host came over immediately when we had trouble getting into the house. A great place to stay!

    Karl2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra’s home is lovely! She left a sweet note and bottle of wine for us at check in, and she was available if we needed anything. Would definitely book again!

    Dana2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Get ready for a relaxing and comfortable stay at Sandra’s in Harbor Beach! Very comfortable, great spaces and a charming front porch with a beautiful view of the lake!

    Julie2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra was a great and a very thoughtful host. She knew my husband and I were celebrating our birthdays during our stay and left us a gift :) It was a great location and so close to the beach! We would definitely stay there again!

    Krystle2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The house was very clean and updated. There was plenty of space for our family of four. The location is excellent - very close to the beach & pier (which was clean and not busy at all), and to the little downtown area. It’s a great spot for anyone, but for us with kids, the location made everything simple. Everthing went very smoothly and we would stay here again.

    Sharon2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • It's an adorable apartment right by the beach.

    Emily2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for spending time near the water. We are a family of four and we where very comfortable in this space. This is our second year here and plan on coming back again next year. Sandra is a good host and easy to communicate with. The home is a few houses away from the water, it has a large sized porch, a very clean home, and has a nice kitchen to make meals. There was also a place to rent a kayak or a jets ski near the pier.

  • This is the 2nd time that we have stayed at Olivia’s home and she has added even more charm to her guest suite! You’ll enjoy a comfortable chair, a handy desk, and a very comfortable bed. Both the bedroom and bathroom are extremely clean with extra blankets and hangers ready in the closet, and complimentary soap and shampoo in the bathroom. Olivia gave great tips on where to eat and what to see. You can’t beat this place to stay in Oscoda!

    Janice2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed here before, and it keeps getting better! They've added some new improvements to the room that make it extra nice. Last time I stayed during the hotter season and was happy for effective air conditioning. This time, winter decided to arrive early, and I was thrilled for inside warmth and a nicely shoveled parking space both nights! I have a feeling I'll be back yet again in the future.

    Joseph2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia’s AirBnB was perfect for my husband and I’s stay. We were visiting family nearby and were able to escape to a super quiet and super clean space each night! We would definitely recommend to others and stay here again.

  • Olivia’s place was great! Extremely clean. Her and her husband were both very friendly. Their at home theatre was great for relaxing. Perfect place to stay for a night as we made our way back home from up north.

  • Olivia's is a very nice host, her place was very clean, and cozy excellent location. And ahe is so sweet. I Will really come back.!!!!!!!

    Sonia2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a GREAT time at Olivia's place! The accommodations were terrific -- really clean, comfortable bed, fully stocked bathroom, and we pretty much had the run of the whole place with full kitchen and really nice living space with an awesome bigscreen projector TV! We also took full advantage of the nice backyard/patio, including hammock and nice table/chairs for enjoying our morning coffee (which Olivia also provided). She also added lots of nice unexpected little touches like popsicles, lots of tea/coffee choices, etc., and we REALLY enjoyed spending some time with our hosts making s'mores around a fire. Olivia and David are great people and we really enjoyed chatting with them (though they definitely give you plenty of space -- we hardly knew they were there for most of our time). Great location, within walking distance of Lake Huron, and Olivia even gave us a local insider's tip on where to find a very private beach spot where we enjoyed a few hours of perfect beach time all to ourselves. And priced right, great value for what we paid. Olivia exceeded ALL of our expectations!

  • Absolutely stunning. We had an amazing trip and can't wait to get back up next summer. George was an amazing host and made sure we had an incredible weekend. Can't wait to get back up there.

    Eric2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • George and Marvin (his dog) were terrific hosts! He has done an amazing job of bringing life back to the historic building (updates and renovations). The unit was clean and has all the amenities you could need on vacation. It is a hidden gem at the tip of Michigan's 'thumb!' We thoroughly enjoyed the early sunrises over Lake Huron and our entire relaxing stay.

    Katie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was truly an amazing find! Great location to get away from it all but only a short drive into town. Shelley’s bar n grill (and small store) is a stones throw away and the marina is super close to launch a boat or grab a bite at Captain Morgan’s. The house is amazing! So much history, spectacular views of Lake Huron and the breath taking sunrise off the large balcony. The renovated space was clean, comfortable, and stylish with the exposed stone in every room. You can pack light as the house has pretty much all you’ll need. George and his dog Marvin🐾 are very friendly and make you feel right at home! We left feeling as though we’ve been long time friends and are looking forward to our next trip up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Susan2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I’d highly recommend this place. It’s unique in all the right ways, the view overlooking the lake is amazing, it’s clean, and plenty spacious. George was an amazing host, incredibly friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely try to stay here again when we come back.

  • Just a gorgeous place and view - George is the BEST, such a kind man - and shared tips about the area with us. It is the most serene place ever, a little outside the hustle and bustle of Port Austin but not far at all. We will be back. It was magnificent!

  • Terry and Jules have done a wonderful job updating the house. It was very beautiful and cozy. Lots of games to play and movies to watch. They left a bottle of wine and some treats for our family for New Year’s. It was a great stay! If you’re looking to stay in town near everything, this is a great option. We’ll definitely be back.

    Joanna2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying in Terry and Julee's house, and once again it was perfect. The home is sparkling clean, and the hosts are very responsive. We stayed for the week of Christmas this year, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a decorated and lit Christmas tree, stockings on the fireplace, and even a surprise gift for us. These touches were so thoughtful and really made us feel at home. I highly recommend staying here and have already booked it again for a weekend this summer.

  • Krissy's place is extremely cozy. Check in was super easy, Krissy always responded super quickly, and the house was extremely clean! I would definitely recommend this Air BnB if you're looking for a nice, rustic space! The only thing I would warn is that it's rather close up on a road, and you can hear the cars and trucks drive by. It is not a busy road by any means, just something to be aware of.

Since 1948, Shady Shores has been making memories for guests. With 200' of beautiful Lake Huron shoreline and conveniently nestled in thousands of acres of state land and trails, Shady Shores truly is classic pure Michigan.
  • Great place to stay on the water. Cabin was clean and had everything you need to escape for a weekend. I highly recommened Shady Shores for a fun, relaxing vacation!!

    Nicole2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very rustic stay was the peace we needed in the off season. Nestled on a semi-private lot with plenty of old growth pines, Cabin 6 at Shady Shores is a 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin, only about 4 feet from the shore of Lake Huron. Falling asleep with the windows open and the sound of the waves lapping at the shore has the calming restorative power of any deep sleep. Even with the windows closed, you can hear the lake on a wavier day. The view was amazing and the cabin has several nice details and amenities to help those who may not feel comfortable staying in what appears to be a historic cabin with original rustic features such as wood paneling, "farmhouse" porcelain kitchen sink and stainless steel countertops. The cabin featured some great updates- a smart TV and high speed wifi, along with a bidet attachment in the bathroom. Though the bathroom is small, it was clean and offered plenty of storage space if you are expecting anything longer than a weekend stay or bring along your family. They also have brand new coded locks so you feel secure and brand new cordless light-reducing blinds (not sure if full black out but the room was nice and dark for an afternoon nap). Make sure to enjoy at least one sunrise during your stay as the living room boasts 3 large windows to frame the view. With the rising lake levels, there was some unavoidable shore deterioration outside the cabin but the entire property boasts a large sandy beach with a beautiful covered/screened gazebo right on the shore. They also have a community fire pit AND each cabin has its own brand new charcoal grill. Bring your chairs and enjoy a private view of stunning Lake Huron two steps away from the back porch in Cabin 6 if you are not into meeting other guests. Overall our stay was amazing and exceeded our expectations. Just a short drive to both Tawas and Oscoda, we have already recommended many of our friends to give Shady Shores a try! Looking forward to a future stay soon!

  • Jodi is an amazing host. There was a small issue, I reached out to her at 10:30 PM. She was outstanding and concerned that my young children and I were completely comfortable. She got it taken care of and was GENUINELY concerned for our FUN vacation. Outstanding host. This location is PRIME, it is walking distance to a Nature preserve and Beach. If you turn left off her street you are 15 minutes to Downtown Caseville, to the right the same distance to Downtown Port Austin. Great vacation spot! I am sure if available we will be back.

  • Cute, clean rustic cottage. A short drive or walk to a georgeous sandy beach. Quiet neighborhood. Jodi answered our questions quickly. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Had a great weekend! Had a little trouble figuring out what house was ours. I wish there would have been blinds or curtains on the window but I would definitely stay again!

  • Jeff & Tammy were fabulous hosts. The space was cozy and clean, and very well appointed. This cabin would be great for a family to relax and would serve as an excellent launching point for day trips all around tag part of the mitten (as well as hanging ‘round right there in Oscoda!)

  • Clean, roomy, great hosts , location is great right on the river and close to town

  • A rustic and 'real' log cabin but with a modern kitchen and bath. All of the rooms are spacious and well designed so that things are easy to find. An outstanding view of the AuSable river as well as a nice stone fireplace really add to the cabin atmosphere. They have a great collection of books and the furniture is comfortable and not worn. Although the driveway is hard to find right next to the end of the bridge, the cabin is in a great central location. I'd recommend the place to all my friends.
