This was the first time we had stayed at an Airbnb lodging, so we did not know what to expect. We had no problems with maintaining communications with Drew through email and his land line. There is no cell at his location. The house is very comfortable with good lighting throughout, except for a burned out bulb in the kitchen. We like to read so adequate lighting is always appreciated. The location is quiet, except for all of the Whip-poor-wills and various amphibians that called most of the night. I enjoyed hearing those. We had some reservations about the location while we were watching heavy rain, as we had crossed seven low-water bridges while negotiating the three miles from paved road, but the water didn't rise after the two rain events.

Our first Airbnb experience and we are glad it was with Drew. Drew made sure from the beginning that we understood this cabin was in a very rural area. He came to the town nearby so we could follow him. On our way to the cabin he showed us the nearby attraction Alley spring which we could have regretted not seeing. Make sure you visit this lovely spring. The cabin was very clean and stocked with all the cooking utensils you need. Make sure to bring your groceries, all the stores are very very far and you don't want to get lost finding your way back. Drew was kind enough to help us out with our last minute grocery. If you are looking for the Best Host experience Drew deserves Five Stars. We had booked this cabin for one and only one reason to be able to ride Dirt bikes and what a great place to do just that. Drew rode along my husband and kids and gave them the best experience of life on the trails around the cabin. The dogs on the farm Max and Blue are very friendly. Loved the views from screened porch of horses in the farm. There is Internet too. That was a plus point such a rural area. It felt being at home inside the cabin and away from home in nature outside. Great experience ! I can just go on and on. We will definitely return and next time with all the groceries for cooking up our meals in the kitchen and on the grill. Thank you Drew for the best first Airbnb stay and your time showing us and giving us tours of local attractions and local diner!! We will be back soon!

Drew's cabin lies in a hollow back in a remote area quite a few miles from the nearest town. He lives on the premises, but believe me--you are ALONE. Communication with him was easy and instant. Anything you needed to know, he could help you with. First off, GPS is of little use in finding the place, so he gives you easy directions to follow. When you walk in, the cabin is clean, there are plenty of clean sheets and towels, the pilot light on the heater is lit, and although we brought our own basic food, there was coffee ready to put in the machine. Communication with him was simple through the AirB&B messaging system. We heard from him right away upon arriving and settling in. When we met him, he let us know he would enjoy showing us around, but we did not feel compelled to take him up on it. On a rainy day, we took Drew up on his offer, and off we went in his four wheel drive truck, into areas that tourists usually do not go. He was a great tour guide, and the conversation we had was just as good as the places he took us to. I will sum up by saying this: in meeting Drew, in my opinion I have made a friend. He is trustworthy, delivers what he promises, and is down-home friendly. If I lived in the area, I would like to have him as a neighbor. This was the best type of AirB&B experience that one cannot have at a hotel, and I cannot recommend this listing highly enough.

This cabin was a wonderful getaway from the world. Plenty of room for the 4 of us. So much nicer than most of the local places near the Current and the price was great, too. We definitely plan to return.

Drew & Anicia's cabin is delightful! We loved the front screened-in porch and the horses nearby. If I ever have a reason to be in the Birch Tree area again, I'd LOVE to come out and stay a few days and stargaze. A perfect backroads hideaway!

This is our second time staying here. We love it and will stay every chance we get. Very quiet and peaceful. The hosts are friendly, accommodating and respect the privacy of the guests. Very happy.

Drew's cabin is amazing. My sons stayed here for a spring break getaway from college. They absolutely loved the property, cabin & trails. Although the weather was pretty chilly for spring, they were still able to hike and enjoy the clean cozy cabin. We would definitely recommend Drew's place to anyone wanting to just relax & unwind. A+ in all areas!

Drew's place was exactly what we were looking for. It's located in the middle of a lot of beautiful country, and is very secluded. Most cell phones don't have signal in the area, and be prepared for some gravel roads. We had plenty of privacy, and Drew suggested we see Alley Springs, which is not far at all and gorgeous. It was great to stay here.

Very cutely decorated above the garage apartment. Enjoyed the grill, firepit, and hammock. Perfect for a couple. Right in town. We were floating the current river, and this place was a perfect location for us. The lone star cafe is close by and has a delicious breakfast.

It was a nice place to stay and central to everything we did.

We loved it that the local canoe outfitters picked us up at the door and returned us. The apt is a quaint little cottage with all the modern amenities of home. The yard overlooks a stream and was an inviting oasis. The fire pit was filled with wood and ready to go. We had fresh cranberry bread waiting for us upon arrival. Although we were only two, the apt easily sleeps 4 or more. It was well stocked and very clean. If you want to canoe or raft the Jacks Fork, I would highly recommend staying here. It was a great value and we were very happy we stayed!

This place is wonderful if you like to be close to all the shops of Eminence, Scenic Riverways, Rocky Falls, Echo Bluff State Park, Jack's Fork River- great location and they take such care and pride in the new cottage they've prepared! There is a very nice big lawn with grill, firepit, hammock, and creek to splash and play in- Our kids loved it!!

Richard and Rhonda are wonderful! We (6 women on a float trip) felt so welcome there and we already made reservations to come back. The place was so cute and felt like a little cottage that reminded me of grandma's house. The yard was so nice to gather around the fire - Richard provided the firewood and had it stacked for ready to use. The bathroom had towels for all 6 of us. Harveys canoe rental picked up us right in the drive way in an air conditioned van - not a bus. It was a great trip that exceeded our expectations. We'll be back!

This was a wonderful stay! The Summerside apartment is so cozy and beautifully decorated, and the property is peaceful and perfect! We truly enjoyed sitting and listening to the creek and waterfall and roasting marshmallows by the fire. The location was perfect for enjoying the Jacks Fork River--we rented tubes for a float from a nearby canoe company, and they even picked us up and dropped us back off at Summerside! We also visited Alley Mill and Spring upon the recommendation of Richard and the canoe company driver. We're so glad we didn't pass up that experience! Rhonda and Richard's kindness and hospitality went above and beyond our expectations!

Based on previous reviews, Rhonda and Richard didn't disappoint. Was greeted kindly with a surprise fresh baked cranberry bread and freshly picked cherry tomatoes.

Rhonda and Richard could not be more kind and helpful and the accommodations were picture perfect. We enjoyed their beatiful secluded back yard and enjoyed sitting by the fire after using the grill to make dinner. The guest house was clean, cozy and had everything that we needed. After chatting about our upcoming canoe trip, Rhonda even let us borrow her dry bag to keep our phone, wallet, etc dry. Can't wait to return. Thank you for the hospitality.

The contact Junior was a pleasure to deal with. He was very friendly and informed us of what to expect. I would describe the cabin as rustic, not charming. It has a lot of potential and with the work being done, will be great in a short amount of time. If you are looking for something upscale, this is not for you. If you are looking for old school, country living, then this is what you want. Only thing I noticed in the listing that wasn't true is that the cabin is within walking distance to the river. It is if you're willing to walk quite a distance. Like more than a twenty minute walk to the river.

They arrived to take us to the property quickly and were informative when we arrived.

we came down to emminence to float and enjoy the national forest, we had a large party of 9 and the cabin was defiantly large enough for all of us. the location of the cabin is perfect if you don't mind being out of town a little, we have a side by side and wanted to ride the national forest so this location was perfect for us, but it did take 20 minutes to get to town. for the price I wasn't expecting much but the property was beautiful, the house is a little dirty and cluttered but we just looked at it as upgraded camping!

It is exactly like you see in the pictures. It is an older house but it has A.C., a lot of places to sleep, and the necessities for a weekend away. I would say that it is a bit off the beaten path but if you're looking to get away from people its the place to be.

Very remote and a great place to relax. Bring an atv or you'll wish you had. Lots of places to play within the 'neighborhood' and the wild horses are beautiful. A few very nice hiking trails as well. All in all a very great place to stay and I hope to get back there again.

Read between the lines! You get what you pay for. This is a unique place, 20+ minutes out on a gravel road, very remote, quiet, peaceful. We had no trouble getting there with our 4 wheel drive Jeep. I would describe it as 2 trailers put together end to end, not charming 50's farmhouse. The 2 AC window units are very good (although one has no front and is clogged with dust, etc. and needs to be cleaned out), and there is hot water (you turn it on, directions there are good). The sheets are clean on the beds, the refrigerator is spotless, the bathroom is clean. But the carpeted floors have not been vacuumed in many months.... dog hair, human hair, dirt, grass, bugs, spots and stains, etc. as well as the concrete/linoleum floors.... very very filthy. We had some breathing issues until the AC dried things out, then ok. Host says it is "better than camping"... yes, agreed, there is AC, a bed, and hot water!!!! Host communicates very well and caretaker was easy to work with.

This was the most horrific experience I have ever had. The caretakers did not do anything to prepare this plase at all in fact the house needs to be bulldozed. please do not fall for the pictures that are represented in this site. If you a person that does not care about your health this might be for you. The house is inhabitable. No hot water filthy everyware mold growing everywhere and the list goes on. I wish I could post pictures on this review. This plase is a fraud. Don't book for your own health physical and mental.

My husband and I are very well-rounded travelers. We were over the road truck drivers. We love rustic camping. We've also flown on private jets to private beaches and taken trips on private yachts with our friends. I've been in some very shady and janky places and I've been in some very elite places. All of that to say that I have a wide range of experience that spans many decades of travel. We've used AirBnb often and this is our first bad experience with both the host and with AirBnb. What I was looking for was a place that was remote and this place was. I didn't want energetic frequencies disturbing my quiet. There was no wi-fi here and my particular phone doesn't get signal in this area and I knew that from my previous trip rustic camping in Shannon County last fall. The photos are mis-leading, as is the owner's description of what to expect. She says "a step up from camping" and I have to disagree. I would say this: the air conditioners kept the place cool, even though they look like they should be thrown in the trash. The water is fantastic. The hot water is great. And there were no bugs IN the house at all. It is remote (which, as I said, I was looking for that aspect.) The fridge was spotless, cold, and worked well. I'd like to also point out that the caretakers were extremely hospitable, friendly, and concerned with our well being and with our comfort. I appreciated that and it was quite opposite of my experience with the owner. There was junk and clutter everywhere. The back room was a place where nightmares are born and there wasn't even a door to hide it, just a curtain. There were only curtains on the two bedrooms and the other sleeping spaces were out in the open. The walls in the two bedrooms were rotting and there were odd, locked spaces that were creepy. In the kitchen drawers, there was mouse poop everywhere. There was one drawer full of coozies and many of the coozies were chewed and the evidence of mouse activity was obvious. There was also mouse poop near the pots and pans and the toaster and other appliances left out for use. (Glad I brought our own pots/plates/silverware, etc...) The only surface clear enough to put something on was the dining room table, but most of the chairs were wobbly and threatening to break. The electrical breakers were constantly blowing. The receptacles were strained. The fridge and air conditioners were plugged into extension cords which were plugged into outlet extenders...which made me feel constantly unsafe and I was on high alert the whole time when the power fluctuated in the house. Add to that the fact that most of the lamps are super old and the cords looks unsafe. In the bathroom, there was a packet of antacids that expired in 1996 and a tube of Neosporin that expired...

This was a great place to stay the weekend! We floated the river, and it was so conveniently close to the Landing! Very spacious place and was very well stocked!We enjoyed the kitchen and the grill!!

This is a beautiful home. It is right on one of the best rivers in the state! It is close to The Landings Resort, which was a quick 2 minute drive to rent canoes, rafts or tubes. We did the half day float and floated right past the house. There are many great restaurants near by, we tried Hole in the wall pizza. Very close and very good! The owner was very responsive to all our needs. This is a TOP notch home, that has just been rehabbed with great attention to detail. They provided all toiletries and towels. They have put in a fabulous Chef's kitchen with a 6 burner gas stove, convection oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator- all top of the the line high-end appliances! If you like to cook, do it here! We enjoyed our morning coffee on the covered deck over looking the current river. There are two upper and lower patios with a fire pit and a small "beach" on the river. Two days wasn't long enough! We have rented many places on Missouri Rivers and this was the best! Great for families!

The house was very clean and spacious. Loved the 6 burner commercial stove. Beautiful view of current river. The deck off the house was huge. Great view of the river from the lower deck. Plenty of concrete parking in front of the house. Covered parking for two vehicles. Only 1.5 miles to Van Buren. I look forward to staying here again.

This place was a quaint private guest cottage. It had all that we needed but was a little hard to find. We did not have cell service at the locations but according to Judy, most do. We liked having some snacks available as soon as we got there. We also like the travel information to our next destination we got from (URL HIDDEN) saved us an hour of driving (2 hours if you think about the return.) We would recommend this place to couples or small families.

Not too far from main highway. Tucked away and quiet, peaceful place. Sufficient amenities in home. Jim and Judy were professional and helpful. Would definitely stay again if in the area!

The cottage was so cute, and exactly what we were looking for. Judy and Jim went above and beyond to make our stay as idealic as possible. They are great hosts, and we could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay or better hosts. Not only would I recommend them to friends, I look forward to staying there again myself.

Judy and Jim are fantastic hosts! They quickly responded to our questions before our stay via text and email. They warmly greeted us as we arrived and made us feel like family. The cottage is so peaceful and was perfect for our family of three. Everything we needed was waiting when we arrived including toiletries and breakfast food in the frig! We will definitely stay with them again the next time we are in the area. Our only regret is that we wish we could've stayed longer!!

Judy and Jim are very nice. The house is definitely worth the price. Judy made us a delisous treat. It is out in the country and sometimes there are creatures out there. I'm a city boy but made due. We were very pleased. We will stay again.

The Horseshoe Bend Hideaway is a perfect place for quiet, restful healing or creative endeavor. It is a serene cottage , which feels homey and welcoming. Great area for birding. Cardinals, welcome you to each new day, right outside your front door.

Dan and Niccola provided an amazing weekend get away, only a few hours south of St. Louis. The lodge was comfortable, charming and within walking distance from beautiful trails, lakes, ponds and forests. Our lodge provided an open and spacious, full kitchen with utensils, comfortable bedrooms and laundry facilities, not to mention, the view from our lodge was serene and beautiful. Niccola and Dan provided us with extensive knowledge of mushroom cultivation, preservation of Missouri forests and streams and the opportunity to pick our own mushrooms fresh off the log. We recommend buying enough to bring home, as we went through a pound mushrooms within the first night! I would highly recommend Ozark Forest Mushrooms' lodge to anyone seeking an affordable, clean and beautiful get away with the bonus of agrotourism and being able to purchase farm-fresh, organic mushrooms.

Had a fantastic time here with my family, a few weeks ago. A fine place to relax, unplug and unwind. This may be an understatment! Very quiet, very beautiful setting, and a little off the beaten path. I cant detail enough how lovely and peaceful and truly in the country Beaver Lake Lodge is. Anybody as intrigued by a picture of a house perched on the edge of a lake, and looking for a relaxing getaway as I was, do not hesitate. Beaver Lake Lodge is a very unique place. I should add, Daniel and his wife Nicola were friendly and very easy to deal with, and the house accomodations were more than enough for the needs of two adults and three small children. I'm scheming for some time to go back!

Host made us feel very welcome and place lived pretty much up to exception but location and setting far exceeded expectation as to its natural surroundings.

Beaver Lake Guest House was perfect for my sisters and my retreat. Though our stay was in February, the area around the house was picturesque and the interior of the house was cozy and warm. Very secluded for privacy, quiet and peace. It was exactly what we expected from Dan's description in the listing. We spoke with the hosts the day after our arrival and Nicky and Dan were friendly and informative about the area's history and generous with the farm's mushrooms and a bottle of local wine. Simply Lovely!

I booked with Dan to stay at Beaver Lake with my husband and my parents for a weekend of canoeing on the Current River. We had a lovely stay at the house. The secluded location was perfect for us, as we really wanted to get away from the distractions of the city and to experience the natural beauty of the Ozarks. We were very satisfied with the accommodations. Everything was neat, tidy, and the house is full of books on local wildlife and other regional touches that made us feel we really got to know the area. I loved cooking for my family in the well-equipped spacious kitchen. And we all enjoyed hanging out on the deck to take in the lake and its critters. The tour of the mushroom operation was fascinating, and -- apparently -- inspiring. My parents are thinking of starting their own logs in the backyard at home! Dan was quick with communication and with his directions we didn't even get lost, which was amazing, considering how tucked away this place is! All in all, a great experience. Would go back in a heartbeat!

This was our second trip to the Beaver Lake Guest House and we fell even more in love with it this time. Daniel and Nicola are lovely people and gracious hosts. The guest house is a perfectly comfortable, well appointed cottage hidden away in beautiful woods on a lovely lake-what more could one ask for in a getaway!? This time we explored the spring-fed creek and spent a glorious day splashing in crystal clear swimming holes. While the weather overall was less than perfect, somehow even sitting on the deck in the rain looking at the lake, watching all the creatures go about their daily business was magical. Our one regret is that we let so much time go in-between our visits. Can't wait to go back!

We loved staying with Isaac and his family! Isaac is kind, communicative, and generous. The farm was easy to locate and extremely tranquil. I especially enjoyed watching the animals run around and meeting Charlie the dog (so sweet!), as well as the breathtaking view of the stars. The a/c was a very nice added comfort, along with little things like being offered coffee or ice cream. Isaac made a wonderful suggestion for a hiking spot and made sure we were taken care of during our visit. We would definitely come back.

Clean little cabin off the beaten path. Less than an hour from lots of great trails in Mark Twain forest. Isaac is super nice and friendly, and the bed was very comfy. If wandering through Missouri on my own again, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

It is definitely worth a trip to rural West Plains to check out Isaac's place! It is an awesome, clean, and modern little cabin with cold AC. Very comfortable bed. It's set on a quiet farm off the beaten road. A great escape. Isaac provided me with delicious hand prepared food during my stay and the whole family was very welcoming and respectful. Awesome value.

Wherever you are going in the area, take a short and scenic detour to visit Isaac and his family. This is a beautiful and quiet place. My night was very comfortable. I enjoyed sharing dinner with the family, they all have funny stories to tell. I was also offered breakfast in the cabin! Wifi works well, but bring a book and make yourself comfortable. I wish I had stayed longer. The best value I found within my numerous stays all over the world.

Are you looking for a beautiful, rustic stay out in the country? Issac's cabin is just the place. He was so accommodating on our trip to Missouri. His cabin was along our route so it was very convenient for us to get a good night sleep on our way to Branson, MO. I loved the solitude, and the bright starry sky at night and the price was exactly what we were looking for! It's a short walk from the cabin to the bathroom, but there are flashlights readily available. We even had a friendly farm cat that escorted us. Me and my teenage sister absolutely LOVED the time we spent there. We loved the bagels and Orange juice for breakfast. The quilts were amazing! Softest.. bed... ever!!!
