Lovely small town. The drive from Boulmer is certainly worth it across the moorland, taking in the many view points along the way. Decent pubs here, and next to Cragside House. No wonder Rothbury is Prince Charles's favourite holiday destination!

Beautiful National Trust house and gardens. First home to be powered by electricity. Take a scenic drive through the estate and stop off along the way for views and to explore into the grounds on the numerous woodland paths. Hire a kayak if you like. Cafe is very nice too
