Breweries and Cider Houses Within 15 Miles

Literally a mile down the road from our place. Dog-friendly inside and out. A darn good selection of their own beers. They also serve local wines and ciders and classic bar grub. The best part is the live music! Amazing local talent with a focus on bluegrass.

Now called the Dark Horse Tavern. This tavern holds a special place in my heart. So far, new ownership hasn’t changed the vibe that much. Stellar bangers and mash served by the nicest locals you’ll ever meet.

My absolute favorite restaurant and bar in the area (that you can get into without making a reservation a year in advance)! The brainchild of Patrick O’Connell of The Inn at Little Washington. Be warned; they actually don’t take reservations at all. However, you can usually sidle up to the bar without having to wait. Chris and Emily make the best cocktails this side of DC.

Look, you’re going to need to get a reservation at least six months in advance. It is SO worth it. Stunning food in an inviting atmosphere. Chefs Jake and Sara welcome you into their restaurant like it’s their own home. In my opinion, it’s better than The Inn at Little Washington.

Intimate cocktail bar that serves food from the attached Rappahannock Pizza Kitchen. No better place in Sperryville to get a well-deserved drink after hiking in the NP.

I adore Lakota Ranch. Their farm store is well curated with a good mix of their own Devon beef, heritage pork and eggs, fun trinkets, locally made goods, hides, jewelry, etc. Visit and feed some of their farm animals! Pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, donkeys…they’re all there. They also breed working dogs and you can frequently interact with litters of pups.

Don’t judge a business by its name! Yes, this is the home to a good tree service company, but you can also find excellent local produce, eggs, meat and seasonal goods. In the fall, their gourds, pumpkins and mums are hard to beat.

Upscale but quaint general store with an amazing selection of meats, seafood, produce, wine and beer and grab-and-go sandwiches and salads. You can find a lot of essentials here, but it really shines as a place to find locally-sourced goods.
