Parks & Nature

Kayak or canoe in the river estuaries. We went on a day when it was too windy and rough so took a boat across the river and back, seeing all sorts of birds and dolphins. Fun and interesting trip.

When it is cold the manatees come into the canal by DeSoto park in Satellite beach. You can see one to over a hundred of them. Take A1A north to Desoto Parkway and go left. Park in the lots just after the ball fields on your left. The canal is between the parking lot and the houses to the west.

Just walk down to the beach before dawn from May to October and you may catch sight of a turtle returning to the ocean after laying her eggs in a nest. During the day it is easy to spot turtle tracks - you can't miss them!
