Pack a picnic and explore as you head up the mountain, we hike here a lot. The drive starts at the lowest level of Chaparral and will change to Ponderosa Pine at the top, like driving to British Columbia. We like to go to Ski Valley and head up the road to the end where you can park and hike. The views are spectacular. You will be above 7,000 feet so please keep that in mind. In winter, the road is often closed when it snows and if open, very crowded as lots of people go to play and ski in the snow.
