This is a bit further but don't believe the driving time that Maps shows you. You can get their quite a bit quicker. It is the closest hike in Grand Staircase Escalante to Kanab. It is also at a much higher elevation and is a great way to beat the heat. After a short walk in a wash you will enter a white slot canyon dotted with pine trees. We also love that we rarely see very many people there. 4x4 needed after heavy rains or snow other than that most vehicles will make it.
