Drinks & Nightlife

Live music, great food, hipsters as far as the eye can see - Newtown is where it's at in Sydney at night. Favourite haunts including the Newtown Social Club for local live bands, the Newtown Hotel for good food, and the Marlborough Hotel for rooftop cocktails. There’s also plenty of great vegan options, some of the best gelato in the world and cult favorite Black Star Pastry.

Where to go (and only walking distance!) for intimate bars like the Little Drummer, upscale restaurants like Glebe Point Diner or upbeat Mexican like Flying Fajita Sisters. There's great vegetarian fare at Badde Manors, and a million places for great coffee! Perfect for book lovers like me with Gleebooks and Sephora. Fresh fruit and veg at local institution Galuzzo’s along with the whole food market. Also burgers, Japanese, Himalayan, Indian, Tapas and so much more.

I always recommend international guests take a trip out to Manly. Get the ferry from Circular Quay to get the most of the experience, then walk from the Corso to the beach for a swim, lunch and an ice cream.

This one needs no explanation. Do the Bondi to Bronte walk, take in the views from Icebergs and of course take a plunge in Australia’s most famous beach.
