Hike to the top!
The heart of Sedona! Close to the Cathedral Rock vortex. It's on Oak Creek and there are amazing Sycamore trees and trails. Old pioneer ruins and a waterwheel are fun to inspect. You can hike to Buddha Beach and build a cairn. It gets crowded in the summer as there are popular swimming spots nearby. I love to meditate by the creek with the energy of Cathdral Rock and the big trees around.

A lovely hike up to Kachina Woman rock where you can find a spot on the red rocks and soak up the energy. The Boyton Canyon trail goes all the way back to the end of the box canyon. You'll have to hike past Enchantment Resort for quite a ways, but it is worth it!

City advice

Customs and culture

Sedona is a designated dark sky town.

If you plan to wander at night, carry a flashlight.
Book before you go

Dinner reservations are required at most popular restaurants

Make your reservations early before you come to Sedona or plan to eat at restaurants that do not require reservations… And plan to wait.
Getting around

Don’t get stuck in traffic.

Popular times of the year mean waiting in long traffic lines, especially when traveling from the Village of Oak Creek to Sedona. Plan to do that journey early in the morning.
Don't miss

Sunday morning Farmers Market.

In the Wells Fargo parking lot.
What to pack

It gets cold in Sedona.

Even in the summer, the nights get chilly at this high elevation. Be sure to pack some warm clothing.
Customs and culture

Be friendly!

Sedona is a friendly place. Make eye contact. Smile. Relax.
Useful phrases

Woo-woo

This is the expression we use in Sedona to describe very new agey people and concepts. Everybody here is a little bit woo woo, but it is certainly a spectrum. It’s good to know where you fall on that spectrum. Get a sense of where any tour guides or practitioners are on the woo woo scale before you agree to subject yourself to their belief system.
Customs and culture

Respect the wildlife.

We share the desert with many critters, including javelina, coyotes, deer, bobcats, and more. Educate yourself and be respectful of these desert dwellers. They do not want to harm you or to be harmed by you.
