Romantic Getaway. Seeing it is loving it! The Caboose is a handcrafted replica of an old train carriage, with a private garden. Set on a half acre property with a historic farmhouse, only 5 minutes drive from the beach and Takaka township.
“The Caboose was refreshingly different from anything we have experienced in NZ so far. Feeling of remoteness but close to local amenities and laces to visit. So much to see - we only touched the surface. Hosts were attentive but did not invade your privacy. Eggs and beer were a nice and thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend for a get away from it all experience.”

“What a great place! I was only here overnight but it was wonderfully comfortable and I felt right at home in my little cabin. The view at night as the sun sets is just perfect...and you can watch it from bed. Very nice host, super attentive and wants to make you feel welcome. The cat is an added bonus, and there are some very curious chickens in the yard as well.”

“Barrie and Anne Marie are thoughtful and knowledgeable hosts who go the extra mile for their guests. We were surprised to discover home grown strawberries, black berries and tomatoes in our room as we arrived; along with 2 ice cold brews. Barrie and Anne Marie gave us great local information which made our visit easier and more enjoyable. The accommodations are private, very clean and well presented; everything we needed was there. Making the drive over Takaka Hill to Golden Bay lets one see the best of what New Zealand has to offer; and when you combine that with the hospitality and graciousness extended by Barrie and Anne Marie, you experience life’s greatest pleasure.”
