Vacation rentals in The Hogshead

We had a fantastic stay at Luanne's! The house is in a good location, about 10 min to downtown Boothbay Harbor. The property is beautiful with a great view of the water. The bedroom and bathroom setup worked well for us, since most bedrooms had access to its own bathroom. Everything was clean, appliances and grill worked. Luanne was very responsive to any questions and issues. Renters should note that there is a guest cottage/converted garage on the property, just about 15 feet away from the main house, and this cottage is also rented out. The property is essentially shared between the two houses. It did not become an issue during our stay, but we were cognizant that there may be another car coming up the driveway when the dogs and kids were out in the yard and it did make the property feel less private. Overall, would recommend Luanne's for a great stay close to Boothbay.

Beautiful restored farm house with enough room for 4 adults and 3 kids for a family getaway! We were able to cook dinners with a very well equipped kitchen and enjoy the fire pit in the backyard with incredible sunsets. Our kids loved the hike to the river on the property and our family really enjoyed spending a day at the Coastal botanical gardens which was only a few minutes drive away from the house!

Perfect stay. The back deck was amazing with gorgeous views. We spent most of our time out there. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a couple of meals since a lot of the restaurants were closed for the season. The house was even better than the pictures. Staying on the quiet side with less traffic was the right choice. We would definitely stay here again!

What a cozy, beautifully furnished and decorated space. A lot of thought went into making guests feel they’re staying somewhere very special. We certainly did. The second floor apartment with its spacious deck had a view of the ocean and some spectacular sunrises. This was our first visit to Maine and we wanted somewhere central on the coast, like Owl’s Head. It was a good base to explore from. And there was lots to do close by. We were especially pleased to discover the Bernard Langlais art preserve only a few miles away. Rockland is ten minutes away and has a lot of great places to eat.

Comfortable historic cottage with a magnificent view in a working fishing community, exactly what we love about the coast of Maine. Very peaceful setting with an abundance of wildlife all around - great birding right from the porch. Very comfortable bed and great linens. Lots of great walks/hikes nearby for outdoor lovers, and plenty of dining and shopping just 20 minutes away in Bath. Well stocked kitchen had everything we needed. A woodburning fireplace was definitely a plus and we loved cozy fires in the evenings. Five Islands Lobster is a short and and very pleasant walk for great fresh seafood. We loved bringing lobsters back and steaming them for dinner. Charlie was extremely helpful and responsive. We look forward to a return stay!

The house and views are excellent, you can sit on the back deck or outside area and just gaze out at the view, see Bald Eagles fly over every day, even saw one grab a fish from the water. Very clean and well appointed with the essentials like detergents for laundry and dishwasher, garbage bags, slat, pepper and other cooking basics, foil and cling wrap, beach chairs. Overall I can say it is a very nice house, very clean. The location is 20 - 25 minutes from Bar Harbor and maybe 20 min to Acadia. We didn't mind this at all. We ate lobster at 5 different places, if you want the absolute best Lobster rolls go to the Travilin Lobster, there is one in Trenton and one in Bar Harbor, by far the best lobster roll. Oh, and probably as important as the house being very clean, the beds were very comfortable.

We absolutely loved our stay! Did not want to leave at all! Both my fiancee and I cannot wait to return sometime. Its peaceful, serene, and just the perfect location to relax.

Even more beautiful than we expected! The pictures don’t do this place justice. Cozy, clean, quaint, dreamy. I will Be back. The views outside are incredible. Susan has created not just an Airbnb, but an experience. We couldn’t wait to get home each night and spend the evening all cozy inside. We even made homemade pizza! So charming. Could not be happier.
