Bradgate Park is a great full-day destination for families and will guarantee to wear out your children. Free entry with a pay & display car park (top tip park on the road outside), you can walk for miles along tarmac paths, the children can take their bikes/scooters/roller skates and there's a big hill to climb with stunning views of Leicestershire from the top. Full of bracken, wild deer and historic trees, this is a protected area of natural beauty and there are lots of rocks for children to clamber around on. Take a packed lunch or stop for a snack at the tea-rooms. There's one inside the park or a couple of great cafes at the car park entrance. Avoid sunday afternoons!
