Castle Roche is situated on a rocky hill in the middle of a rural area about 10 kilometres northwest of Dundalk. The castle was built in 1236 by a lady named Rohesia de Verdon. It’s reported that she promised the architect of the castle her hand if he would build a building according to her wishes. On her wedding night, Rohesia is said to have asked her new husband to come to her room and take a look at her property through her window. On her wedding night, Rohesia is said to have asked her newlyweds to come to her room and take a look at her property through her window. At that moment, she pushed him and got rid of her husband.
