Tips from locals
Incredible visitor center. Watch the film- the curtain at the end will make your jaw drop.
The observatory hosts interpretive displays that tell the biological, geological, and human story of Mount St. Helens. Breathtaking views of the volcano and crater, and hikes within the blast zone.
If you want to see the famous volcano site, this is it. The Observatory sits on a bluff just 5-1/2 miles from the crater and offers grand view of Mount St. Helens and much of the 1980 blast zone.
