Why locals recommend it

The black box fortress of the avant garde, The Kitchen is one of the oldest nonprofit performance venues in the city. It hosts collaborations between performance artists, visual artists, musicians, and literary events. Recent choreographers include the experimental Gillian Walsh and Maria Hassabi. Ticket prices here are very affordable, plus there’s often a free gallery show in the upstairs space.
