Historic National Park. Bison roam free, walking trails & old barn & house to explore.
Beautiful, scenic trails will leave you feeling transported back in time, before the west was settled. See the large herd of bison residing on the park lands. Park is open 24/7, so stop by to star gaze, as well.
About a thirty minute drive away, but very beautiful. It is the only national park that has a prairie eco-system.
Did you know 2/3 of all remaining tallgrass prairie is in the Flint Hills? Take in Kansas history at the Learning Center and historic buildings or take a hike on the nearly 11,000 acres to be explored. The scenic beauty of the Flints Hills is best experienced at this National Park.

In all my travels (including Alaska, Japan & Canada) this is one of my very favorite spots. There is nothing like it anywhere else. Its majesty is beyond words and simply must be experienced, and it's only a 25-minute drive from Emporia.
