Nuraghe Arresi is located in the middle of Sant'Anna Arresi, between the two town churches. The 'Nuraghe' is the main type of ancient megalithic edifice found in Sardinia, developed during the Nuragic Age between 1900 and 730 BCE. Today it has come to be the symbol of Sardinia and its distinctive culture, the Nuragic civilization. More than 7000 nuraghes have been found, though archeologists believe that originally there were more than 10,000. More that 15 'nuraghi' can be found in the area between Sant'Anna Arresi, Porto Pino and Is Pillonis. Most of them are covered by dirt or scrubs.

Un sito neolitico, un nuraghe e due chiese: un complesso archeologico-artistico racchiuso nello spazio di pochi decine di metri. Attorno al nuraghe Arresi è sorto il primo nucleo abitato di Sant’Anna Arresi. Il nuraghe, risalente al XV-XIV secolo a.C. (Bronzo medio), si erge in mezzo alle due chiese e fu costruito su un insediamento più antico, abitato nel Neolitico Recente e nel primo Eneolitico (3200-2600 a.C.). A completare il quadro preistorico dentro il paese sono due fontane nuragiche, a est e ovest del monumento. È un caso di sovrapposizione cultuale: varie ‘fortezze’ spirituali si avvicendarono nel paese nella successione dei millenni.
