MBTA red line will take you into downtown Boston within minutes and Cambridge as well.

Take the T - The red line is more efficient line in Boston and will get you to South Station in 2 stops, downtown in 3, and to Cambridge in 6 stops.

Major MBTA (aka "T") station which has underground subway (Redline), buses & Zipcar. Just outside the station on Dorchester Avenue, is Hubway Bike which allows you to rent bikes. 8 mins to downtown!
