Tips from locals
Swim with seals in the summer, or visit them in the winter when they come ashore to pup.
Nearest beach with public toilets, car park (£7.00 all day cash) and café serving light snacks, cakes and coffee. Set alongside a nature reserve and the place to go and see seals any time of year.
If you want to see the seals, this has become a popular place to see them. In the winter months the seal colony from Horsey has spread out to now include Winterton. Even in the summer months you'll see the heads of seals bobbing about in the water, or you may even catch them sunbathing by the groynes. You can easily walk from Winterton to Horsey beach and get the spectacular views of even more seals basking on the sand, or looking after their pups. It’s a truly wonderful sight and worth the walk. Please remember though, these seals are dangerous if you get too close to them. Selfies are not a good idea, especially in the winter months. If you disturb the mothers, they won't come back to their pups. Alternatively, if you want to see more seals, drive along the coast to Horsey and park in one of the car parks.
