Mt Townsend Trailhead

Tips from locals
More difficult hiking but a beautiful trail and well-worth it. A local favorite.
This 6.7 mile trail in the Buckhorn Wilderness is heavily wooded the first few miles and opens up to meadows and spectacular mountain views.
About 17 miles southwest of the Red Cabin and very popular. Beautiful scenery (of course!) but considered more difficult. There are four trail options for Mt. Townsend. Check out the Washington Trail Association weblink for the best description and suggested routes. (Best times are usually June-October.)
