This is the perfect way to relax. Ride the steam train which travels between Porthmadog & Caernarfon right through the heart of Snowdonia!! This family & Dog friendly day out is not to be missed! The route takes you through quaint villages like Beddgelert passing Wales largest mountain Snowdon onto the fantastic Caernarfon Castle!!

The Welsh Highland Railway now runs between Porthmadog and Caernarfon meaning passengers can now combine the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway journeys and travel from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Caernarfon - some 40 miles of narrow-gauge steam. If you are just taking this train, then from Porthmadog (20 minutes drive from our village) it crosses the Glaslyn Estuary flatlands to Pont Croesor, home to the RSPB's Glaslyn Osprey Project, then after passing Hafod y Llyn it goes through the famous Aberglaslyn Pass to Beddglert. From here you pass Pitts Head Summit and Rhydd Du before heading to Caernarfon Castle. The Welsh Highland Heritage Railway is also in Porthmadog has various events throughout the year including Halloween and Santa Trains.
