Beautiful Tidal island accessible by beach and road during low tide, the flora and fauna is truly breathtaking, the scenery is spectacular, on a fine day you may even be treated to the very special sound of the corncrake, the history of the island is also worth googling as is was once home to the monastic settlement of St. Feichin, the ruins of the old church is still there and St. Feichin’s Holy Well, Tim Robinson has written about this island during his time here in a Connemara

Beautiful beach and walk. Watch out that the incoming tide doesn't trap you on the island for 12 hours. They have a horseracing meeting on the beach in early August. The racecourse is constructed as the tide falls and everything is removed before the tide comes back in. Google "Omey Island Races" for details of the next one.
